Private jet charter in Birmingham
From the London airfields to the West Midlands is only 64 to 98 nautical miles, a sector so short that the jet has to justify itself against a train that makes Euston to Birmingham in about an hour and ten minutes. It does so more often than you might expect: when the passengers start in Edinburgh, Dublin or Zurich, when the day takes in the NEC, Stratford and a dinner in Warwickshire, or when Birmingham is where a flight to the Gulf begins. Private Jets UK arranges the charter around whichever of those it is. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Birmingham Airport is a full international field with a 3,052 m runway, two business aviation handlers and customs on site, so the real decisions are the starting point, the date and whether the trip ends at the airport or carries on by helicopter.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Birmingham depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Birmingham?
Thirty-five minutes from Biggin Hill in a light jet, fifty minutes from Edinburgh, and no change of clock from anywhere in Britain. At 64 to 235 nautical miles from the British fields this is the shortest sector most clients ever book, and climb and descent take up a large share of it. Dublin, Amsterdam, Paris, Frankfurt and Geneva are the usual arrivals from abroad, between 180 and 502 nautical miles, and the table gives the sector from each.

Door to door, and the 70-minute train
From a London airfield the flight takes 30 to 40 minutes, and the Business Aviation Centre is about five minutes by car from the NEC, so a delegation heading for a hall loses very little between touchdown and the stand. For the city centre the main line is close: the free Air-Rail Link joins the airport to Birmingham International station, and direct trains reach New Street in about ten minutes and London Euston in about 70. That is the honest comparison. Between central London and central Birmingham the train usually wins on time and cost, and we will say so. The jet wins when the journey does not begin or end at a London terminus, when there are three stops in a day, or when Birmingham is only the first leg.
Turboprop or light jet: the question that actually comes up on this route
– Over 64 to 98 nautical miles a Pilatus PC-12 gives away only five minutes or so to a light jet, and because a short sector is priced at a minimum charge, the turboprop comes out at £3,100 against £5,300 for a Citation CJ3+ from Biggin Hill. For up to eight people with ordinary bags it is the sensible aircraft;
– A light jet earns its premium when the aircraft carries on somewhere, when the passengers are in a hurry on the second leg, or when the cabin is part of the meeting. Citation CJ3+ and Phenom 300E are the usual choices;
– Anything larger is for the long sectors: Scotland and Ireland with a full party, or a trip where Birmingham is the first stop before southern Europe or the Gulf.

Private jet flights from Birmingham
Birmingham works well as a place to start a trip. A 3,052 m runway takes any aircraft that flies out of Britain, the handlers work round the clock on request, and the Midlands sit within easy reach of Dublin, the Channel coast and the Alps. Three kinds of journey leave from here: short sectors to the islands and the near Continent, ski and sun trips to Switzerland, the Riviera and the Balearics, and the Gulf and New York for passengers who would rather not drive to a London terminal first. The runway is not the constraint, the clock is
A runway of 3,052 m is long enough for a large-cabin aircraft to leave with fuel for the Gulf or the American east coast, and nothing on the field limits what can fly. What does shape a long-haul departure is the airport's night period, which runs from 23:30 to 06:00 under a noise quota. An aircraft with a quota count above 1 cannot be scheduled in it at all, and quieter types still use up a limited allowance. A late-evening Gulf departure is therefore planned around the clock from the first quote, and for an older aircraft we check the noise classification before promising a time.
Before you accept a Birmingham quote
– Which handler, and which door. Signature Birmingham and the XLR Executive Jet Centre are separate buildings on the same airfield, and a driver told only Birmingham Airport may wait at the wrong one;
– Where the aircraft is based. A jet already in Dublin, Manchester or London takes less positioning than one flown in from the Continent, and on a sector of 100 to 200 nautical miles positioning is a large share of the bill;
– Whether the itinerary is one booking. Birmingham to Geneva, a week in the Alps and the return costs noticeably less arranged as one trip, because the aircraft and crew stay with you instead of returning to base.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Birmingham:
Light jets, and where most bookings land
On the short British sectors a light jet is the comfortable answer for four or five people, and the Phenom is the pick when luggage matters more than seats. Nothing here lacks range, so the money goes on the hour and not on capability you will not use.
Midsize, for trade-fair luggage and long weekends
Sample cases, display stands and a week of meetings are what push a party past the light-jet hold, and the same aircraft carries on to Geneva or Nice without a refuelling stop.
Super-midsize, large and long-range
For a delegation travelling as one party, for a team that wants to work in the air, and for the Gulf and New York departures that a 3,052 m runway makes easy.
Turboprops
The right aircraft for the shortest British sectors: Luton, Bristol and Cardiff are all inside 90 nautical miles, and over a distance like that the turboprop gives away very little time for a large saving.
Helicopters
Not for the flight from Britain but for the last stretch: the circuit at Silverstone, the racecourse at Cheltenham and a country house with a lawn and no runway. We book the helicopter with the jet so that both crews work to one timetable.

This is a small part of what is available. Birmingham sits in the middle of the country, so for a booking outside the trade-fair and racing weeks there is usually an aircraft within an hour of the airport, in London, Manchester or Dublin, and that is often where the better price comes from.

Business aviation airports in Birmingham
One airport does nearly all of the work. The others matter for specific reasons, and it helps to know them before a quote arrives with one of them in it.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Birmingham Airport, Solihull BHX / EGBB |
The answer for almost every trip. About 13 km east-south-east of the city centre, with one runway, 15/33, of 3,052 m, which takes anything that flies from Britain, long-range heavies included. Listed as open 24 hours with restrictions, and an airport of entry, so customs and immigration are handled on the field. Two handlers work here, Signature Birmingham and the XLR Executive Jet Centre, and the old second runway is now a taxiway and helicopter strip |
| East Midlands EMA / EGNX |
Roughly 28 nautical miles north-east of Birmingham in a straight line, with a 2,893 m runway and three business aviation handlers: Advantage Flight Support, Signature and Swissport Executive Aviation. Advantage lists customs and immigration coordination on site. A real alternative when Birmingham's night rules or a busy week get in the way, and the better field for Derby, Nottingham and Leicester |
| Gloucestershire, near Cheltenham GLO / EGBJ |
About 4 miles west of Cheltenham, with a 1,431 m main runway and Weston Aviation as the on-site handler. A sensible landing point for the Cheltenham Festival and the Cotswolds for turboprops and light jets, while larger aircraft land at Birmingham and finish by helicopter or road |
| Turweston, near Brackley EGBT |
A small aerodrome with a 1,256 m runway on the edge of Northamptonshire, advertised for a shuttle of about 15 minutes each way to Silverstone on race weekend. We would not assume a jet can use it; the usual plan is Birmingham or Luton with a helicopter on the end |
| Coventry, Baginton CVT / EGBE |
Once took executive jets on a 2,008 m runway, but it is reported closed to flying and the site is being redeveloped. Older broker listings still name it as a Birmingham alternative, so a quote that names Coventry needs checking |
Four points settle most Birmingham arrivals:
Choose the handler
Signature Birmingham has a purpose-built terminal of 222 square metres with a traveller lounge, a refreshment area, its own security screening and a separate pilots' lounge. The XLR Executive Jet Centre stands at the Business Aviation Centre on Terminal Road, with a 27,000 square foot heated hangar, VIP and crew lounges, private security screening and its own fuel team, and is available round the clock on request. We ask the operator for its preference.
Hours, slots and noise
Birmingham is listed as open 24 hours with restrictions, and slots are normally required. The night period runs from 23:30 to 06:00 under a noise quota, an aircraft with a quota count above 1 cannot be scheduled in it, and a take-off that breaches the limit on the airport's monitors pays a surcharge. For a late departure or an older jet we confirm the noise classification in writing first.
Entry and the flight report
Every international flight into or out of Britain is notified on a General Aviation Report, filed between 48 and 2 hours before departure, which our handler arranges. British and Irish citizens need no Electronic Travel Authorisation. Most other visitors who need no visa must hold one, £20 each, with a separate one for every child, and Border Force decides on the day who may enter.
Car, rail and the NEC
The NEC is about five minutes by car from the Business Aviation Centre, Stratford-upon-Avon and its theatre about 40 minutes and the Cotswolds about 55. Give us the handler and the destination, not just Birmingham Airport. For the city centre, the Air-Rail Link and a ten-minute train to New Street often beat a car at rush hour.

Border, passport and the General Aviation Report
Arriving from abroad, the aircraft must land at a customs-designated airport or a regulated aerodrome, and Birmingham is one of the airports of entry. The captain and the owner or agent file the report, it can be submitted no earlier than 48 hours and no later than 2 hours before departure, and a change of aircraft, passengers or arrival airfield means a fresh one. Border Force decides whether each person needs permission to enter, and anyone who does must be told before leaving the aircraft.
Going out, the rule that catches Britons is the passport. For the Schengen area it must have been issued less than ten years before arrival and be valid for at least three months beyond the day you plan to leave, and the stay is limited to 90 days in any 180. A first visit to the Schengen area also brings registration of fingerprints and a photograph under the EU entry system, at the first airport you land at.

From the apron to the Bullring
Birmingham is the second city of the United Kingdom and the commercial centre of the Midlands, with Brindleyplace, the Jewellery Quarter, the Bullring and Symphony Hall all inside the ring road, and the airport sits 13 km out to the east. What matters on arrival is not the distance to the centre but where the day actually happens, because the NEC, the Cotswolds and the Warwickshire motor industry each pull in a different direction.

Flying to Birmingham with a dog or a cat
Britain's rules for an arriving animal are mostly about dates and about having the right document for the country it is leaving. A pet usually travels in the cabin beside you on a private flight. What matters is that the microchip, the rabies vaccination and the paperwork are in order before the aircraft is booked and not after.

What Britain asks for when a dog or cat arrives:
- A microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination and not after it;
- A rabies vaccination, with at least 21 full days between the first jab (or the last of the first course) and travel;
- A travel document that depends on the departure country. From the EU it is an EU pet passport, an animal health certificate issued in Britain within the last six months, or a Great Britain pet health certificate. The USA, the UAE, Canada, Japan and most other listed countries need the Great Britain certificate, and a country that is not listed adds a rabies blood test;
- A signed declaration that the pet is travelling with you and will not be sold or rehomed;
- For dogs, a tapeworm treatment from a vet no less than 24 hours and no more than five days before arrival in Britain, recorded on the document;
- More than five pets, or a pet arriving more than five days before or after you, falls under extra commercial rules, with an exception for animals travelling to a show, competition or sporting event.
What catches owners out on the Birmingham run
– The March dog show. Crufts runs for four days at the NEC and show dogs arrive in numbers, so the exception for competition animals matters here, and the certificate dates are set around the show, not around the flight;
– Going the other way, a pet passport issued in England, Scotland or Wales cannot be used to enter the EU. The animal needs a certificate from an Official Veterinarian, valid ten days for entry, six months for onward travel and for coming home, and a fresh one for each trip;
– Whether a private aircraft counts as an approved route for pets is something we confirm in writing with the handler before booking. A banned breed cannot come in without a Certificate of Exemption, and a pet that does not comply can be held in quarantine for up to four months at the owner's cost.
Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide, and our managers confirm the position in writing for your dates before a booking is taken.
The Birmingham calendar: a trade-fair city with a racing habit
Birmingham keeps a calendar set by exhibitions and, on either side of the city, by Cheltenham and Silverstone. The NEC fills in February, March and September, Cheltenham falls in the same month as Crufts, Silverstone is in July, and the city centre turns German in November. Knowing which week you want matters more than choosing an aircraft.
Why a fair week costs more
Not the flying. The British light and midsize fleet is large and Birmingham sits in the middle of it. What gets tight is the handler's apron, hotel rooms and good cars, all in the same days, and March carries both Crufts and the Cheltenham Festival. A booking made a fortnight before a fair or a race meeting can still be done, but it pays more and may mean an aircraft positioned from London or Dublin. The same booking made five or six weeks earlier is simpler and cheaper. Outside those weeks Birmingham is one of the easier British airports to charter into, and a flight can usually be arranged in a day or two.
Ways to bring the Birmingham price down
- Take the turboprop on anything under about 161 nautical miles. The PC-12 quote from Bristol, Cardiff or Newcastle is £3,100, against £5,300 for a light jet, and for eight people with ordinary bags the cabin is not the constraint;
- Ask where the aircraft is based. A jet already in Birmingham, Manchester or Dublin takes less positioning than one from the Continent, and on a short sector positioning is a large share of the bill;
- Move the dates by a few days where you can. Outside the NEC weeks aircraft and hotels are easier to find.
Types of flights
Birmingham produces a different mix from the capital cities we cover, because it is a manufacturing and exhibition city, the gateway to racing country and the starting point for long-haul flights from the Midlands all at once.
- Trade-fair and exhibition travel to the NEC, with fixed dates, heavy luggage and the airport five minutes from the halls;
- Motor-industry business in Warwickshire, where Aston Martin has its headquarters and Jaguar Land Rover an engineering centre at Gaydon, close to junction 12 of the M40;
- Racing and motorsport, meaning the Cheltenham Festival in March and the British Grand Prix at Silverstone in July, usually with a helicopter on the end;
- Show-dog travel for Crufts, with the paperwork described above;
- Weekends in Stratford-upon-Avon and the Cotswolds, flown from Dublin, Paris or Switzerland;
- Long-haul departures to the Gulf and New York from a 3,052 m runway.
A same-day return deserves a closer look, but not from London. A same-day return from Edinburgh takes under an hour each way in a Phenom 300E, and from Dublin or Zurich the day is longer but workable. The aircraft and crew wait for you rather than going home, and that waiting is paid for, but it still comes out cheaper than two separate one-way charters. From London we quote it both ways and, as a rule, let the train win.
Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. In the Midlands they come from the pattern of events and from the long sectors, and it helps to know what produces them.
Where Birmingham empty legs come from
– Fair weeks. Buyers arrive on charters from across Europe for the NEC, and the aircraft often leave empty a day or two later, producing outbound legs in the days after;
– Racing and motorsport. Aircraft come in for Cheltenham or Silverstone and go back to their bases on the evening of the last day, and that leg is the one most often offered;
– Long-haul rotation. A large-cabin aircraft returning from the Gulf or New York through Birmingham leaves a long leg to place, and the discount on a long leg is worth more in pounds.
Because the Birmingham corridor is thinner than the busiest London routes, a client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. What you give up is the usual: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Birmingham match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
In Birmingham a helicopter is a tool for the edges of a trip and not the middle. The centre is ten minutes from the airport by train, and the places where rotary flight changes the journey are the circuit at Silverstone, the racecourse at Cheltenham and the country houses of Warwickshire and the Cotswolds.
a private terminal at the circuit, set against about 50 miles by roadabout 20 minutes
the shuttle advertised for race weekendabout 15 minutes
for clients who come straight from London and skip Birminghamabout 25 minutes
a temporary licensed site a few hundred metres from the racecourse, with a chauffeur car to the standsFestival week only
the former runway 06/24 is a taxiway and helicopter strip, so a transfer can start on the airfieldno road leg
Before you plan around a helicopter
– Event helipads are temporary and licensed for the week, so they are booked early and run to a timetable. A private lawn or hotel garden has to be agreed with the owner and checked for the machine before we quote, not after;
– Weather sets the schedule. Low cloud over the Cotswolds can stop a helicopter on a day when the jet lands without trouble, so a transfer needs a road alternative planned into the same day;
– For race weekends and the Festival, book the helicopter together with the jet, or expect to be told there is no rotary capacity.
The machines on this ground are the Airbus H125 for the quick transfers, the wider H130 for villa and country-house work, the H135 and the Bell 429 where a twin is wanted, and the H155 for larger parties. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable.

Birmingham charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
SHOW DOGS · THE ANIMALS BOOKED THE QUOTE
Three people and two show dogs for Crufts
Paris Le Bourget - Birmingham, Embraer Phenom 300E, about 55 min · 3 pax + 2 dogs
The dates were set by the show and the paperwork by the dogs. Each animal had its microchip, its rabies vaccination and the right travel document, and the tapeworm treatment was timed to fall between 24 hours and five days before landing. The Business Aviation Centre is five minutes from the halls, so the dogs spent the least possible time in a car.
TRADE FAIR · A BUYING TEAM
A buying team for the Spring Fair
Geneva - Birmingham, Citation XLS+, about 1 h 30 min · 6 pax
Six buyers with sample cases, arriving on the Sunday evening and in the halls on the Monday morning. The hold decided the aircraft, not the seats, and the quote moved up from a light jet for that reason. The return left on the Thursday, and the slot was booked together with the outbound.
RACING · AN OWNERS' PARTY
Owners and guests for the Cheltenham Festival
Dublin - Birmingham, Citation CJ3+, about 45 min · 5 pax
The jet landed at Birmingham, a helicopter took the party to the temporary helipad by the racecourse, and a car delivered them to the stands. On the last evening the aircraft was released and flew home empty, the kind of leg that can be offered at a discount to the next client.
MOTORSPORT · THE LAST 20 MINUTES
Hospitality guests for the British Grand Prix
Amsterdam - Birmingham, Citation CJ3+, about 55 min · 6 pax
The jet was the easy part. Birmingham Airport is about 50 miles from Silverstone by road and 20 minutes by helicopter, so the helicopter and the jet were quoted as one booking, with a road alternative planned in case of low cloud on the Sunday.
LONG-HAUL · NONSTOP FROM THE MIDLANDS
A family and a business partner to Dubai
Birmingham - Dubai, Bombardier Global 6000, about 6 h 45 min · 8 pax
A late-afternoon departure, fixed on purpose to stay clear of the night period that starts at 23:30. The runway was never the question. The aircraft was a large-cabin jet that flew in empty from London that morning, and the quote showed the positioning leg as a line of its own.
EMPTY LEG · MONDAY MORNING SOUTH
A jet already going your way
Birmingham - Nice, Cessna Citation Latitude empty leg, about 1 h 50 min · 4 pax
The aircraft had brought a party to the Midlands for the weekend and was returning to the Riviera empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Birmingham
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Birmingham?
About 30 to 40 minutes, covering 64 nautical miles from Luton and 98 from Biggin Hill. A Pilatus PC-12 takes around 35 to 40 minutes and a Citation CJ3+ around 30 to 35, because the climb and the descent are most of the sector. From Edinburgh or Glasgow allow roughly 50 minutes in a Phenom 300E. There is no time difference anywhere in Britain, and Dublin keeps the same time.
2How much does a private jet to Birmingham cost?
From about £3,100 one way on a turboprop from Bristol, Cardiff or Newcastle, and about £5,300 on a light jet from Luton, Farnborough, London City or Biggin Hill. A Phenom 300E from Edinburgh or Glasgow is £5,700. From abroad, Dublin starts at £5,300, Paris Le Bourget at £5,700 and Geneva at £9,400. NEC fair weeks, the Cheltenham Festival and the British Grand Prix price above these figures.
3Is a private jet worth it between London and Birmingham?
On that sector alone, rarely. Avanti West Coast takes about 70 minutes from Euston, and the flight is only 30 to 40 minutes. A jet makes sense when the passengers start elsewhere, when there are several stops in a day, when the trip carries on to Europe or the Gulf, or when the cabin is part of the meeting. We will tell you honestly when the train is the better answer.
4Which airport should a private jet use for Birmingham?
Birmingham Airport (BHX / EGBB) for almost every trip. It is about 13 km from the city centre, listed as open 24 hours with restrictions, has a 3,052 m runway, customs on site and two handlers, Signature Birmingham and the XLR Executive Jet Centre. East Midlands (EMA / EGNX) is the alternative, and Gloucestershire suits turboprops and light jets bound for Cheltenham. Coventry is reported to have closed to flying.
5Can I fly on from Birmingham to Silverstone or Cheltenham by helicopter?
Yes. Silverstone is about 20 minutes from Birmingham Airport by helicopter, against about 50 miles by road, and the helicopter lands at a private terminal at the circuit. For the Cheltenham Festival a temporary licensed helipad stands a few hundred metres from the racecourse. We book the helicopter together with the jet, because both are scarce on race weekends.
6Can I take my dog to Birmingham on a private jet?
Yes. The dog usually travels in the cabin with you. Britain asks for a microchip fitted before the rabies vaccination, a vaccination at least 21 full days old, a travel document that matches the country of departure and, for dogs, a tapeworm treatment between 24 hours and five days before arrival. Going out to the EU, a certificate from an Official Veterinarian is valid ten days for entry and six months for onward travel and the return.
