Private jet charter in Marrakesh

Marrakech is where British clients go when they want warm daylight in the middle of winter without paying for a long-haul flight, and a private jet shrinks the trip to a morning departure and a late lunch on a terrace. Private Jets UK plans the charter from the first quote to the car waiting at the aircraft door. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Menara airport has a private aviation terminal of its own, two competing handlers and a runway of about 3,100 m, so the questions that decide a Marrakech trip are the landing permit, the cabin size and how you cover the last stretch to the mountains or the coast.

private jet charter

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Marrakech depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.

You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:

  • using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
  • via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
  • by landline or cell phone;
  • via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).

Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from London Luton, an Embraer Legacy 600 and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.

How long does it take to fly to Marrakech?

Just under three and a half hours from Biggin Hill in a Phenom 300E, four hours from Edinburgh in a Praetor 600. Morocco keeps a clock that is an hour ahead of Britain in the winter months and level with it in summer, with a shift during Ramadan, so check the offset for your dates before you promise anyone a lunch reservation. At 1,247 to 1,534 nautical miles this is the sector where the choice of aircraft class starts to matter. A light jet can fly it without a fuel stop, but it is a long time to sit in a small cabin, and many clients move up a class for that reason alone. The table gives the flight from each British field we use.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall

Menara airport lies about 6 km south-west of the centre, and a taxi to the medina takes roughly 15 minutes. Leave a London airfield at eight in the morning and you are on the ground a little before midday by British time, with the car already at the foot of the steps because the handler has the aircraft registration and the arrival slot long before you do. Count the drive to the British field and the formalities at both ends and a client who left a central London address after breakfast is usually settled in a riad by early afternoon. A scheduled flight with a connection seldom gets there so early.

Light jet or midsize: the question that actually comes up on this route

– Up to four people with ordinary bags, a Phenom 300E or a Citation CJ3+ is the honest answer and the cheapest one. Three and a half hours is comfortable if nobody needs to stand up and work, and the saving over a midsize cabin is real;

– Past that, or with golf bags, camera cases, a week of luggage for each person or a dog, we quote a Praetor 600 or a Citation XLS+ alongside the light jet so that you see both figures. On a sector this long the hold and the headroom stop being details;

– Heavy aircraft make sense for a large party, for a team that wants to work in flight, or when Marrakech is only the first stop of a longer itinerary through Morocco or beyond.

Private jet flights from Marrakech

Marrakech works as a base as well as a destination. Casablanca and Fes are short business sectors, Essaouira, Agadir and Ouarzazate are turboprop distances over the Atlas and along the Atlantic, and Lisbon and Madrid sit within a light-jet hour and a half to two hours on the way back to Europe. Morocco from the air: when a turboprop beats the road

Essaouira is about 177 km from Marrakech by road and takes close to three hours in the car, with 3 to 3.5 hours the sensible allowance once the traffic leaving the city is counted. A Pilatus PC-12 flies the 89 nautical miles in about 40 minutes. Oukaimeden, the Atlas ski station, is 78 km from the airport and about two hours by road, most of it up the Ourika Valley, and slower still after fresh snow. Ouarzazate, on the far side of the Atlas, is a 130 km hop over the mountains that takes much longer on the ground. For a party with a fixed programme in the south, landing at the right airport on the first day is worth more than any saving on the main sector.

Before you accept a Moroccan onward quote

– Which airport, and who handles it. Menara, Casablanca and Agadir have international handlers; for the smaller fields such as Essaouira and Ouarzazate we ask the operator to confirm fuel, handling and opening hours in writing, because a quote that assumes them is a quote that will change;

– Whether the onward leg is one booking. Handlers report that Moroccan VAT is charged on flights between Moroccan airports but not on refuelling for international flights, so a multi-stop itinerary priced as a single trip can come out differently from three separate charters;

– Whether the programme depends on the weather. Low cloud in the mountains can hold a flight or a helicopter on a day when the road is open, so the plan needs a fallback for each leg.

Prices depending on the type of business jet

We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

Turbopropsfrom £850/h
Small jet£1,700 - 2,500/h
Light jet£2,100 - 3,000/h

Large medium-class jet (Challenger 300)£4,600 - 5,500/h
Large jet (Legacy 600)£4,900 - 5,800/h
Long-haul jet (Global 5000, G550, Falcon 7X)£5,800 - 8,800/h

Private jets are ready to take off

Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Marrakech:

Light jets, and the cheapest way to get there

At three and a half hours this is the upper limit of what we would call comfortable in a light cabin. It suits two to four people with modest luggage, and Menara's runway gives these aircraft no trouble at all.

HondaJet Elite · 5 seatsfrom £1,900/h
Cessna Citation CJ3+ · 7 seatsfrom £2,400/h
Embraer Phenom 300E · 8 seatsfrom £2,600/h
Cessna Citation CJ4 Gen2 · 8 seatsfrom £2,700/h

Midsize, for space and luggage on a long sector

A wider cabin and a bigger hold change a three-and-a-half-hour flight. This is the class we recommend once the party passes four, or once golf clubs and ski bags are involved.

Learjet 75 Liberty · 8 seatsfrom £3,000/h
Cessna Citation XLS+ · 9 seatsfrom £3,100/h
Cessna Citation Latitude · 9 seatsfrom £3,900/h
Embraer Praetor 600 · 9 seatsfrom £3,400/h

Super-midsize and large

For a party travelling together, for a team that needs to work in the air, and for itineraries that carry on from Marrakech to the coast or to a second country rather than turning round.

Bombardier Challenger 350 · 9 seatsfrom £4,000/h
Bombardier Challenger 605 · 12 seatsfrom £4,350/h
Dassault Falcon 2000LXS · 10 seatsfrom £4,900/h
Gulfstream G450 · 13 seatsfrom £5,800/h

Turboprops

The right aircraft for the Moroccan domestic legs: Essaouira, Agadir and Ouarzazate are about 40 to 45 minutes away, and over that distance a turboprop costs a fraction of a jet.

Pilatus PC-12 NGX · 9 seatsfrom £1,400/h
Beechcraft King Air 350 · 9 seatsfrom £1,650/h

Helicopters

Not for the flight from Britain but for the last stretch: the Atlas foothills, the ski road to Oukaimeden and a villa or hotel that has no runway. The site is agreed and cleared before the quote.

online private jet directory

This is a small part of what is available. The fleet that serves Morocco is spread across Casablanca, southern Spain, Portugal and the French Riviera as well as Britain, so for a booking outside the busiest weeks there is often an aircraft within a couple of hours of Marrakech already, and that is where a better price tends to come from.

Business aviation airports in Marrakech

One airport does nearly all of the work, and it is a good one. The others matter when the programme is in Casablanca, on the coast or beyond the mountains, and it helps to know them before a quote arrives with one of them in it.

Airport What it gives you
Marrakech Menara
RAK / GMMX
The answer for almost every trip. About 6 km south-west of the centre and 471 m above sea level, with runway 10/28 of 10,171 ft (about 3,100 m), an ILS and VOR/DME approach and rescue and firefighting category 7. It is a joint civil and military airport. Private flights use a dedicated private aviation terminal that houses two handlers, Jetex and Swissport. It is an airport of entry with customs and immigration around the clock, slots are required and handling is compulsory
Casablanca Mohammed V
CMN / GMMN
The business capital and the country's main gateway, roughly 200 km north of Marrakech in a straight line. Jetex and Swissport both operate here, it is an airport of entry open round the clock, and traffic is consistently heavy. Choose it when the meetings are in Casablanca or Rabat and Marrakech is the weekend, not the other way round
Agadir Al Massira
AGA / GMAD
The Atlantic coast alternative, about 194 km south-west of Marrakech in a straight line, with a Jetex FBO and customs round the clock. It is busiest on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Useful when the trip is a beach or surf holiday and Marrakech is a day or two of sightseeing
Essaouira Mogador
ESU / GMMI
A small coastal airport about 158 km west of Marrakech in a straight line, at 117 m above sea level. It suits turboprops and light aircraft more than anything larger. We confirm the runway, fuel and handling for the specific aircraft before it appears in a quote
Ouarzazate
OZZ / GMMZ
The airport for the far side of the Atlas, about 130 km south-east of Marrakech in a straight line and 1,153 m above sea level. Worth considering for a desert or kasbah itinerary, with the same caution as Essaouira about aircraft size, fuel and handling
Fes
FEZ / GMFF
Roughly 385 km north-east of Marrakech in a straight line and listed among Morocco's airports of entry. It matters for a two-city itinerary through the imperial cities more than for Marrakech itself

Four points settle most Marrakech arrivals:

Choose the handler

Jetex and Swissport share the private aviation terminal at Menara. Jetex lists catering, concierge, crew accommodation, crew and VIP transport and both a crew lounge and an executive lounge, and Swissport runs an executive aviation department of its own. Prices and service differ, so we ask the operator for its preference and tell you which one we are booking.

Hours, slots and parking

Menara works as an airport of entry round the clock, but the Moroccan civil aviation office that issues permits keeps weekday office hours only. Slots are given in 30-minute blocks tied to the filed flight plan, and parking is first come, first served at an airport with consistently high traffic. For a festival week we book the stand in advance.

Border and passport

British passport holders can visit for tourism for up to 90 days without a visa. The passport must be valid for at least three months after arrival, and a damaged passport can be refused. Cash worth 100,000 dirhams (about £8,000) or more must be declared on entry and exit. Neither Britain nor Morocco is in Schengen, so no Schengen border sits between them.

Car and the medina

Give us the terminal and the handler as well as the flight, so the driver waits at the right door. The medina is about 15 minutes from the airport, but many of its lanes are too narrow for a car, so a riad often means a stop at the gate and a porter with a trolley. We ask the hotel which entrance it expects.

business aviation

Permits, visas and the paperwork behind the flight

Morocco draws a line between private and commercial flights, and a charter operated for hire is normally treated as commercial. Handlers quote a Moroccan landing permit as a requirement for international commercial flights, with a minimum of 24 business hours to arrange it, while the civil aviation office that grants it is reported to work from 08:00 to 15:00 UTC on weekdays only. A Saturday morning arrival therefore has to be filed before the weekend, and a Friday afternoon request can slip to Monday. The operator also files the flight plan, and the handler needs the general declaration and passport copies for passengers and crew. We collect these when the booking is confirmed, so that nobody is chasing a scan on the evening before departure.

For passengers the arithmetic is simpler. A visit of up to 90 days for tourism needs no visa for British citizens, while travel for other purposes should be checked with the Moroccan consulate in the UK. Declare anything that is prohibited or liable to duty, and keep the cash limit above in mind.

passport and customs paperwork for a private jet flight

Route and conditions, checked for every trip

– Official travel advice. GOV.UK publishes advice for Morocco, including sections on outdoor activities and adventure tourism, and it says your travel insurance should cover your itinerary and the activities you plan. A trek in the Atlas, a quad bike in the desert or a balloon flight is worth a line to the insurer before departure;

– Airspace and routing. The route to Morocco and the alternate airports are agreed with the operator and checked against the latest airspace notices and operator bulletins, and we tell you plainly if anything changes the plan;

– Conditions on the ground. Permits, handling, hotels, roads and the weather in the mountains are confirmed for the dates of your trip, and if a pass is closed or a slot moves you hear it from us first.

From the apron to the medina

Marrakech is a compact city at the foot of a very large mountain range, and the distances that decide a trip are the ones that run outward from the airport. These figures are road distances where a road is meant and straight-line distances where the text says so.

Menara airport to the medina
about 6 km, close enough that the transfer is a short one
about 15 minutes
Menara to Oukaimeden, the Atlas ski station
78 km, most of it up the Ourika Valley, slower after fresh snow
about 2 hours
Menara to Essaouira by road
177 km on the N8 and R207, mostly single carriageway
2 h 40 min, allow up to 3.5 hours
Menara to Essaouira airport by PC-12
89 nautical miles, which is why the turboprop wins this one
about 40 minutes
Menara to Casablanca Mohammed V
about 200 km in a straight line, the choice for a business programme there
about 40 minutes by CJ3+
Menara to Agadir Al Massira
about 194 km in a straight line, the way to the Atlantic beaches
about 45 minutes by PC-12

Flying to Marrakech with a dog or a cat

Morocco is a destination where the difficulty lies in the way home, not the way out. Britain treats Morocco as a country that is not on its pet travel lists, which means the strictest rules apply to a dog or cat coming back. The animal sits beside you in the cabin throughout, but the paperwork needs months, not days, so the conversation with your vet has to start well before the flight is booked.

private flight with animals

What Morocco typically asks for on the way in:

  • A 15-digit ISO microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination;
  • A rabies vaccination given between 21 days and six months before entry;
  • A veterinary certificate endorsed by the official authority, with entry usually required within about three days of the endorsement, and a check by a vet on arrival;
  • No import permit and no quarantine for a pet that meets these conditions, but certain breeds, among them pit bull types, are banned.

What Britain asks for on the way back from a country that is not listed:

  • A Great Britain pet health certificate issued in the last ten days before travel;
  • A microchip fitted before or at the same time as the rabies vaccination, which must be given when the animal was at least 12 weeks old;
  • A blood sample taken at least 30 days after the vaccination and tested at an EU-approved laboratory, with a result of at least 0.5 IU/ml;
  • A wait of three months from the date of the blood sample before the animal travels;
  • For dogs, a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival, recorded with product, date and time. Cats are exempt;
  • No more than five animals per traveller. If the rules are not met, quarantine of up to four months can follow.

What catches owners out on the Marrakech run

– The blood test sets the clock. Vaccination, then 30 days, then the sample, then three months: unless an exception applies, that is roughly four months before the animal can come home, so a spontaneous long weekend with the dog is not an option;

– The usual way round the wait is to do the vaccination and the blood test at home before the outbound flight. GOV.UK sets the exact conditions for that exception, and we check your animal's records against them before we quote, not after;

– The tapeworm treatment has to be given by a vet in Morocco in a 96-hour window before the flight home, so a Marrakech vet appointment goes into the itinerary. Riads and hotels accept animals one by one, and a helicopter operator agrees separately.

Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide. For a private flight into Britain with an animal we confirm the entry point and the paperwork for the animal in writing before the flight.

The Marrakech calendar: winter sun, a December festival and a hot summer

Marrakech has a simple year. The average daily temperature runs from 12 degrees in January to 30 in August, the rain is spread thinly over a few days a month, and the events cluster in winter and early summer. Knowing which week you want matters more than choosing an aircraft.

December
The Marrakech International Film Festival, a week-long event in late November or December, depending on the year, with open-air screenings in the Jemaa el-Fna square. The city fills with delegations, producers and guests, and charters bunch up on the same few days
December to February
The Atlas ski season at Oukaimeden, which depends on the snow and is helped by artificial snow. The average temperature in town stays between 12 and 14 degrees, so a morning on the slopes and an afternoon in the medina is a real plan, with the road to the station as the slow part
March to May
The easy months. Average temperatures rise from 16 degrees in March to 22 in May, with a handful of rainy days. Every second year the Marrakech Biennale runs for several weeks, from early March into late April or May
June
Marrakech du Rire, an international comedy festival lasting five days, mostly in French and Arabic, and the four-day Gnaoua World Music Festival in Essaouira on the coast, which makes a turboprop to Essaouira the natural second leg
Ramadan
A month of fasting that moves about ten days earlier on the Western calendar each year. The pace of the city and the opening hours of many businesses change, so the ground programme is planned around it
July and August
The hottest months, with an average of 29 and 30 degrees and afternoons well above that. Sightseeing moves to the early morning and the evening, and operators check take-off performance for a heavily loaded aircraft on a hot afternoon
September to November
Average temperatures ease from 25 degrees in September to 17 in November, the comfortable stretch for sightseeing before the December festival weeks

Why the season shapes the price

Not the flying. The sector is long enough that fuel and crew dominate the bill in any month. What tightens in the festival and holiday weeks is the apron: Menara has consistently high traffic, parking is first come, first served, and good cars and guides are booked up in the same days. A booking made a week before the December festival can still be done, but it pays more and may mean an aircraft positioned from another country. The same booking made a month earlier is simpler. Because the Moroccan landing permit typically needs at least 24 business hours, a very late request also loses a day to paperwork.

Ways to bring the Marrakech price down

  • Move the dates a few days where you can. Mid-week departures and the weeks away from the December festival are easier to place;
  • Ask where the aircraft is based. A jet already in Casablanca, southern Spain or Portugal needs less positioning than one coming out of Britain, and on a sector of over three hours that is a large share of the bill;
  • Take the light jet if the luggage allows. Four people and four bags do not need a midsize cabin, and the saving pays for the riad and the guide;
  • Think about a one-way plus an empty leg home. A flexible date for the return is what makes an empty leg possible.

Types of flights

Marrakech produces a different mix from the Italian or Austrian destinations we cover, because it is simultaneously a leisure city, a film and events venue and the gateway to the mountains and the Atlantic coast.

  • Winter-sun weekends and week-long stays in a riad or a villa, usually families or small groups of friends;
  • Film festival and incentive travel, with delegations of six to twelve, fixed dates and a protocol car at the aircraft door;
  • Atlas and ski trips to Oukaimeden, often with a helicopter or a long road transfer on the last stretch;
  • Coastal combinations with Essaouira or Agadir by turboprop, sometimes timed to the Gnaoua festival in June;
  • Business hops to Casablanca and, less often, to Fes or Rabat, tied in with a Marrakech stop;
  • Family trips with a dog, which are possible and which are planned around the return paperwork.

Our one-way prices carry the cost of the aircraft returning empty, so a trip of three days or more with the aircraft going home and coming back for you is often cheaper than leaving it waiting at Menara. The waiting option is worth a quote when the stay is a day or two, and we price both so that the difference is visible.

Empty Legs

An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. On the Marrakech route they follow the rhythm of the holiday calendar, and it helps to know what produces them.

Where Marrakech empty legs come from

– Festival and holiday weeks. Aircraft bring parties in for the weekend and fly home empty on the Sunday or Monday, and that outbound leg towards Britain or Iberia is the one most often offered;

– Winter-sun repositioning. Operators move aircraft between Morocco, southern Spain and the Canaries, and a short hop between them can be offered cheaply;

– Ski and desert programmes. A group that flies to Marrakech and travels on by road or helicopter sometimes releases the aircraft for a few days.

Because the corridor is thinner than the busiest London routes, a client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. What you give up is the usual: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Marrakech match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter

In Marrakech a helicopter is a tool for the edges of a trip, not the middle. The medina is small enough to cross by car or on foot, and the places where rotary flight changes the journey are the foothills of the Atlas, the ski road to Oukaimeden and the Atlantic coast. Menara is described by its handler as helicopter-friendly, so the machine can meet the jet at the airport. The flight times below are our estimates for a typical helicopter in good weather.

Menara to Oukaimeden
the ski station, against about two hours by road up the Ourika Valley
about 25 minutes
Menara to Essaouira
against close to three hours by road, and about the same time as a turboprop
about 45 minutes
A loop over the Atlas foothills and the Ourika Valley
a scenic flight from Menara, out and back, with the snow line in winter
about 40 minutes
Menara to a villa or hotel outside the city
a short transfer once the landing site has been cleared
10 to 20 minutes

Before you plan around a helicopter

– A helicopter cannot land wherever it likes. A hotel lawn, a riad roof or a private villa needs its status confirmed with the authorities before we quote, not after;

– Mountain weather sets the schedule. Cloud and snow in the Atlas can stop a helicopter on a day when the jet lands without trouble, so a mountain transfer needs a road alternative in the same day;

– Twin-engine machines are the sensible minimum on any route across high ground. For the December festival and the holiday weeks, book the helicopter together with the jet or expect to be told there is no rotary capacity.

The machines for this kind of work are the Airbus H125 for the mountains, the wider H130 for scenic and villa transfers, the H135 and the Bell 429 where a twin is wanted. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable.

Marrakech charters from the booking notes: six typical trips

What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.

WINTER SUN · A LONG WEEKEND

Four friends and a villa with a pool

Biggin Hill - Marrakech, Phenom 300E, about 3 h 25 min · 4 pax

Thursday morning out, Monday afternoon back. Four people with hand luggage and one bag each made the light jet the right call, and the villa sent a driver to the private aviation terminal with the address written for the porter. The aircraft went home after the drop-off and came back for the return, which is how a trip of this length is normally priced.

FILM FESTIVAL WEEK · FIXED DATES

A producer's party for the December festival

London Luton - Marrakech, Citation XLS+, about 3 h 40 min · 6 pax

The dates were set by the festival and not by the client. Six people, equipment cases, a protocol car at the aircraft door and a handler briefed on the permit three weeks ahead. Stand space in festival week is the thing that goes first, so the parking was asked for with the slot.

A DOG ON BOARD · PLANNED IN ADVANCE

Two adults and a labrador, four months of preparation

Southampton - Marrakech, Phenom 300E, about 3 h 20 min · 2 pax + dog

The blood test and the vaccination were done at home well before the outbound flight, so the three-month wait did not hold up the return. The tapeworm treatment was booked with a Marrakech vet for the day before the flight home, inside the 24 to 120 hours window, and the riad had agreed to the dog in writing.

ATLAS · A WINTER WEEKEND

Skiing at Oukaimeden on the Saturday

Farnborough - Marrakech, Phenom 300E, about 3 h 25 min · 4 pax

The aircraft landed at nine on the Saturday morning, a helicopter took the party up to Oukaimeden once the landing site had been cleared, and the road was the fallback if the cloud came down. Sunday was the medina. The snow decided the weekend, not the flight.

COAST · TWO AIRPORTS, ONE PLAN

Marrakech first, then Essaouira by turboprop

Manchester - Marrakech, Phenom 300E, about 3 h 40 min · 4 pax; Marrakech - Essaouira, PC-12

A June week built around the Gnaoua festival. The jet took the party to Menara, and a PC-12 flew the short leg to the coast in about 40 minutes instead of three hours on the road, with the handling at the small airport confirmed in writing beforehand.

EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY EVENING NORTH

A jet already going your way

Marrakech - London Luton, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 3 h 30 min · 3 pax

The aircraft had brought a party in for the weekend and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for a Sunday evening departure to the London fields.

Frequently asked questions about flying to Marrakech

1How long is a private jet flight from London to Marrakech?

About 3 h 25 min in a Phenom 300E from Biggin Hill or London City, and around 3 h 30 min from Luton, covering roughly 1,286 to 1,313 nautical miles. From Manchester or Leeds allow 3 h 40 min to 3 h 45 min, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow about four hours in a Praetor 600. Morocco is usually an hour ahead of Britain in winter and level with it in summer, with a change during Ramadan.

2How much does a private jet to Marrakech cost?

From about £16,550 one way on a Phenom 300E out of Farnborough, and £16,700 from Biggin Hill. Luton and Birmingham run £17,000 to £17,200, Manchester £17,800 and Leeds £18,200. From Newcastle and Scotland the model changes to a Praetor 600, at £24,900 to £25,550. The weeks around the December film festival and the holidays price above these figures.

3Which Marrakech airport should a private jet use?

Marrakech Menara (RAK / GMMX) for almost every trip. It is about 6 km from the centre, has a dedicated private aviation terminal with two handlers, Jetex and Swissport, customs and immigration round the clock and a runway of about 3,100 m. Slots are required and handling is compulsory. Casablanca (CMN / GMMN) is the alternative if the meetings are there, and Essaouira and Ouarzazate suit turboprops.

4How far ahead should I book a private jet to Marrakech?

Allow at least three to four working days, because a Moroccan landing permit for a commercial charter typically needs a minimum of 24 business hours and the office that grants it works on weekdays only. For the December film festival and the holiday weeks allow three to four weeks, since stand space, cars and aircraft all tighten in the same days. A dog adds months, not days, because of the blood test required for the return to Britain.

5Can I fly on from Marrakech to Essaouira, Agadir or the Atlas?

Yes. A Pilatus PC-12 flies to Essaouira in about 40 minutes against close to three hours by road, and Agadir and Ouarzazate are about 40 to 45 minutes. Oukaimeden, the ski station, is 78 km and about two hours from the airport by road, and a helicopter cuts that to around 25 minutes in good weather. We confirm handling and fuel at the smaller airports before they appear in a quote.

6Can I take my dog to Marrakech on a private jet?

Yes, the dog travels in the cabin with you, but plan months ahead. Morocco typically asks for a microchip, a rabies vaccination 21 days to six months old and an endorsed veterinary certificate. Britain treats Morocco as a country that is not listed, so for the return the dog needs a rabies blood test at least 30 days after the vaccination, a three-month wait, a health certificate and a tapeworm treatment 24 to 120 hours before arrival. Cats are exempt from the treatment.
