Private jet charter in Slovakia
From the London airfields it is a little over two hours to the Danube at Bratislava and about a quarter of an hour more to the foot of the High Tatras, and that second figure is the one that shapes the plan. Private Jets UK treats Slovakia as four separate destinations rather than one: the capital in the west, the spa town of Piešťany north-east of the capital, the mountain gateway at Poprad and the steel and technology city of Košice in the far east, with about 300 km between the first and the last. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. In Slovakia that service decides whether a skier lands within sight of the Tatra ridge or spends a morning on the road from Vienna, and whether a supplier visiting a car plant steps off at the capital's own general aviation terminal or queues with the airline crowd.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Slovakia depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ nonstop to Bratislava and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Slovakia?
Slovakia keeps Central European time, one hour ahead of Britain throughout the year, because both countries change their clocks on the same weekends. The sectors below start at British airfields and end at Bratislava unless stated, counted gate to gate with the taxi and the approach included:
nonstop, 719 nautical miles with the routing allowance, the same from London Cityabout 2 h 05 min
nonstop, 740 nautical milesabout 2 h 10 min
nonstop, 832 nautical milesabout 2 h 15 min
nonstop, 955 nautical miles, the longest of the regular British departuresabout 2 h 30 min
nonstop, 817 nautical miles, the run to the High Tatrasabout 2 h 20 min
nonstop, 864 nautical miles, the far east of the countryabout 2 h 25 min
Two hours in the air, one hour on the clock
A Citation CJ3+ that leaves Biggin Hill at seven in the morning touches down in Bratislava at about ten past ten Slovak time. A same-day return is realistic for a business trip to the capital. For Košice the longer sector and a day of meetings usually make a night in the city the sensible plan.
The work that decides the day happens before take-off. The first Slovak landing is also the border crossing, so the airport has to be one with a permanent customs and passport service, the handler has to be named, and a charter operated for hire may need a permit from the Ministry of Transport. We start all three on the day the request arrives.
Airline or private jet: where the aircraft earns its price
– For one traveller with a single appointment in the east, a scheduled seat is the cheaper answer. Low-cost carriers list services from Luton and Stansted to Košice and from Luton to Poprad, and the lone passenger should look at them first;
– A private aircraft wins when the party is three or more, when the trip joins two Slovak places in one day, when the luggage is skis or golf clubs, or when the destination is a hotel in the Tatras and the alternative is a scheduled connection through another capital. It lands at the airport nearest the door, at a time that suits the party.
The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

Prices for the private jet flights to Slovakia
Typical private jet prices from Britain to Bratislava, cheapest first. Every row is a nonstop flight. The sector is at the upper end of what a light jet does comfortably, and the choice of departure airfield moves the figure by several thousand pounds:

Two things worth knowing about these figures
– The cheapest departures are in the south-east of England. Biggin Hill and London City on a Citation CJ3+ are both £10,100, Luton on the same type is £10,350, and Farnborough on a Phenom 300E is £10,500. From the Midlands and the north the step up is steep: a Citation XLS+ from Birmingham is £13,700, because a bigger cabin costs more per hour and the extra seats do not make the aircraft faster;
– Bratislava is the benchmark, not always the cheapest landing. From Biggin Hill the same CJ3+ is £9,850 to Vienna, £250 less, against £10,250 to Piešťany, £11,250 to Poprad and £11,800 to Košice. Each quote includes the handler's fee and the landing charges, so the figure does not grow at the airport.
Private jet flights within Slovakia and to its neighbours
Slovakia stretches a long way from west to east. Košice is about 302 km from Bratislava in a straight line and roughly 400 km by road, while Poprad lies 244 km away as the crow flies. A turboprop covers either sector in an hour or a little more, which turns the capital-to-east journey from most of a day into a morning.

Two things worth knowing about these sectors
– Most of the neighbours sit inside the minimum charge. Vienna, Budapest, Prague, Kraków and Zagreb all cost the same £5,300 on a Citation CJ3+, whether the flight takes 25 min or 45 min, because the minimum rather than the distance sets the price. Bratislava to Piešťany is only 68 km, so that turboprop line is a positioning figure and a helicopter (30 minutes) or a car does the job;
– Bratislava to Košice or Poprad saves most of an afternoon and suits a small party with light baggage. Warsaw and Zurich are the second ring, and Nice and Dubai the long sectors.
We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Due to a large database of available business jets, we can help you find an optimal jet and crew. If you have any questions about the departure or the flight itself, you can ask them using the form below:
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Slovakia:
Light jets
The class behind the price in the title. Four to six people reach Bratislava nonstop from the London fields in just over two hours, and the same class suits Poprad, whose concrete runway is 2,600 metres.
Midsize
The usual pick from the Midlands and the north of England, and for a party with ski bags and a week's luggage. A Citation XLS+ or a Latitude gives a standing cabin and a hold that takes the skis without a struggle.
Super-midsize and large
For delegations, for families who travel with staff and for the Scottish and Northern Irish departures. Bratislava and Košice have runways of 3,190 and 3,100 metres, so the size of the aircraft is a question of the stand and the handler, not of the concrete.
Heavy and ultra-long range
For ten or more passengers, or when Bratislava is one stop in a longer programme to the Gulf or Asia. A large cabin is checked against the parking at the chosen airport before a figure is sent.
Turboprops
The aircraft for Bratislava to Košice or Poprad and for the short hops to Vienna or Budapest when speed is not worth a jet's price. Not for the crossing from Britain, where a jet is faster and costs no more.

For a Slovak booking the best aircraft is seldom the one standing nearest. A suitable jet may be in Vienna, Prague or Britain, so the positioning leg can change the price more than the choice of model. We look at the whole map before a number is sent.

Business aviation airports in Slovakia
A flight from Britain arrives from outside the Schengen area, so the first landing in Slovakia must be at an airport with a customs and passport service. We plan around four: Bratislava, Košice, Poprad-Tatry and Piešťany. Facts below are drawn from airport and handler publications, listings and aeronautical data, and the opening times of customs and of each handler are confirmed in writing before every flight:
| Airport | Ground | How it operates |
|---|---|---|
| Bratislava, M. R. Štefánik BTS / LZIB |
about 9 km north-east of the centre | The gateway for the capital and the default choice for a large jet. Two runways: 13/31 at 3,190 m with a Category IIIA instrument approach, and 04/22 at 2,900 m. Private, business and VIP flights use the General Aviation Terminal, which has its own passport, customs and security control and a general aviation team on duty round the clock; the airport lists customs and immigration as available at all hours. Jet A1 comes from two suppliers, catering has to come from certified companies, and entry to the lounge is charged per person while the walk through the terminal is free |
| Košice KSC / LZKZ |
about 6 km south of the centre, 230 m (755 ft) above sea level | The airport of eastern Slovakia, with a single asphalt runway, 01/19, of 3,100 m and ILS approaches. Listed as open round the clock with customs available. A General Aviation and VIP Terminal run by the airport has a separate processing area, a private lounge and fast-track customs and immigration. Magnum FBO Košice offers handling, hangar space, Jet A1, de-icing and catering, and Euro Jet is also listed as a handler. De-icing is listed at Košice and Bratislava for the winter months |
| Poprad-Tatry TAT / LZTT |
about 4 km west-north-west of Poprad, 718 m (2,356 ft) above sea level | The airport for the High Tatras. One concrete runway, 09/27, of 2,600 m with ILS and GPS approaches. Hours are listed as 06:15 to 18:00 UTC, which is 08:15 to 20:00 in Slovak summer time, with 24-hour operation outside them by prior permission. Magnum FBO at Na letisko 100 lists handling, de-icing, a VIP lounge and customs service, and Euro Jet runs a lounge with a view of the mountains. Charter traffic is mostly in winter |
| Piešťany PZY / LZPP |
about 4 km south-east of the spa town, 166 m (545 ft) above sea level | A spa-country field 75 km north-east of Bratislava. One runway, 01/19, of 2,000 m by 30 m with an ILS approach, so the aircraft that suit it are light and midsize jets. Listed as an airport of entry. The hours are listed as Monday to Friday, 07:15 to 19:00 UTC (09:15 to 21:00 in summer), with the rest on call. Jet fuel is available and handling is listed as mandatory, through Magnum FBO Slovakia. Most traffic is seasonal charter airliners |
Four rules settle most Slovak arrivals before a quote goes out:
The permit: paid or private, the answer differs
A charter operated for hire by a British operator needs permission from the Slovak Ministry of Transport, which issues a block permit valid up to six months on an application made at least three working days before the first flight; a non-EU operator also needs EASA third-country authorisation. A private flight is a different category, and we confirm the position with the Ministry when we quote.
The first landing: border check where you arrive
Passports and customs are dealt with at the first Slovak airport, so a ski group bound for the Tatras lands at Poprad itself and does not first stop in Bratislava. A passenger from Britain cannot first land at an airfield with no customs service.
The handler: chosen before the stand
At Bratislava the airport's own General Aviation Terminal team deals with the aircraft. At Košice the airport manages the terminal and Magnum FBO and Euro Jet are both listed, at Poprad Magnum FBO and Euro Jet, and at Piešťany Magnum FBO. The handler files the general declaration and the passenger list, orders fuel and tells the driver where the aircraft will stop.
The clock: two round-the-clock fields, two day fields
Bratislava and Košice list customs at all hours, while Poprad and Piešťany run on daytime hours with extensions by arrangement. A late dinner in a Tatra hotel or a spa evening has to be planned around the closing time, not around the table.
Vienna as the other gateway
Vienna's Schwechat airport is an hour from Bratislava by motorway, with runways of 3,500 and 3,600 metres and three general aviation handlers. It suits a very large aircraft, or a plan that starts in Austria and ends in Slovakia by road, and for the same Citation CJ3+ the flight from Biggin Hill costs a little less. For a party whose business is in Slovakia the capital's own terminal is simpler, with no motorway between the apron and the meeting.
Arriving from Britain: passports, customs and what to carry
Slovakia is a full member of the Schengen area and Britain is outside it, so the border check takes place at the first Slovak landing. At Bratislava it happens at the General Aviation Terminal, and at the regional airports in the general aviation area, usually within minutes of the aircraft stopping.
British citizens may stay up to 90 days in any 180-day period without a visa; the passport must have been issued less than ten years before arrival and be valid for at least three months after the planned departureevery passenger, children included
a photo and fingerprints are taken at the first entry, free of charge; children aged 11 or under are not fingerprintedqueues are possible; a private terminal keeps them short
British passport holders do not need a visa for a short stay; where the EU's online ETIAS authorisation applies to a British passport on your date, we tell you before the offer, not on the apronwe check for your date
foreign visitors in private accommodation register with the foreign police within three working days, while a hotel does it at check-inask the host for the form
neighbouring countries may carry out checks at their land borders, so the passport goes in the hand luggage on a drive to Vienna, Budapest or Praguepassport, not a photocopy
a declaration is due at customs if you carry cash or travellers' cheques worth ten thousand in the EU's own currency or more, about £8,500 at the rate we usedeclare when in doubt
Aircraft paperwork, goods and the way home
The aircraft brings its own file: a general declaration, a passenger manifest and the crew documents, all of which go to the handler before arrival. Meat and milk products cannot be brought into the EU, with narrow exceptions for baby food, medically required food and pet food.
Coming home is a flight into Britain. A General Aviation Report goes to the border authorities not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departure, and British and Irish citizens need no electronic travel authorisation, while most other nationalities do. A passenger who is not British should ask us about the visa and the authorisation for both ends of the journey.

Which airport for which part of Slovakia
Distances below are straight-line figures from the airport, so allow more on the ground, and more again in winter:
the old town is about 9 km from the airport, Vienna's airport is the alternative, and Devín Castle, where the Morava meets the Danube, and the Little Carpathians are on the doorstepBratislava
the spa town is about 4 km from the airfield, and Trenčín, where the Pohoda festival is held, lies some 34 km to the north-eastPiešťany, or Bratislava for an evening arrival
Banská Štiavnica lies about 129 km from Bratislava and Bojnice about 58 km from Piešťany; we normally arrive through Bratislava or Piešťany and finish by road or helicopterBratislava or Piešťany, then road or helicopter
Štrbské Pleso is about 14 km from Poprad airport, Tatranská Lomnica about 11 km and Starý Smokovec about 7 km; the Jasná ski area on the Low Tatras side is about 49 kmPoprad
Levoča is about 26 km from Poprad and the Spiš Castle about 39 km, and Košice is only 86 km from Poprad in a straight linePoprad, or Košice for the east
the city centre is 6 km from the airport, Bardejov is about 70 km away, and the Hungarian border is about 20 km from the cityKošice
Bratislava, the spas, the Tatras and the east: what our clients go for
The capital is where most of the business is. Slovakia is called the European Detroit, because it has long been the world's largest car producer per head of population: Volkswagen builds in Bratislava, Stellantis in Trnava, Kia in Žilina and Jaguar Land Rover in Nitra. The automotive sector accounts for about 44 percent of industrial output, so the people who fly in are suppliers, plant managers, lawyers and bankers, and their programme is built around the factory gate and the meeting room more than around the sights.
The second reason is health, in the old sense. Piešťany is a spa town built around an island between two arms of the Váh river. Its springs rise from a depth of about 2,000 metres at 67 to 69 degrees Celsius, the sulphurous mud used in the treatments is applied at about 39 degrees, and the Napoleon Spa buildings were reshaped in neoclassical style in the early 19th century. The town has about 26,000 residents, an airfield a few minutes away and a season that opens in June and closes in September with street festivals.
The third reason is the mountains. The High Tatras have 29 peaks above 2,500 metres, and the highest, Gerlachovský štít, reaches 2,655 metres. Štrbské Pleso, Starý Smokovec and Tatranská Lomnica are the main resorts, linked to Poprad by the Tatra electric railway. Across the valley the Jasná ski area on Chopok has 23 lifts and about 50 km of runs between a base at 943 metres and a summit at 2,024 metres, with Poprad as the nearest airport. Poprad itself, a town of about 48,000, has a protected old quarter at Spišská Sobota and an aqua park.
The east is a different country. Košice, with about 222,000 residents, was a European Capital of Culture, and its Gothic St Elisabeth Cathedral is the largest church in Slovakia. U.S. Steel Košice, with about 13,500 employees, is the largest private employer in Slovakia, and Deutsche Telekom IT Solutions is the second-largest employer in the east, so the city also sees software and services clients. Further on lie the Spiš Castle, listed by UNESCO with Spišská Kapitula and the village of Žehra, and Banská Štiavnica, a silver-mining town in a volcanic caldera, which is a UNESCO site as well and has about 60 mining reservoirs connected by more than 100 km of channels. Slovakia has eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites in all, among them the Dobšiná Ice Cave.
The Slovak year: snow, spas and a summer of festivals
Bratislava is busy all year, but the private-jet calendar follows the ski slopes in winter, the spa season from late spring and the festivals of July:
Christmas markets in Bratislava from late November to early January, and skiing in the Tatras and on Chopok, when Poprad's charter traffic peaksPoprad
Bratislava City Days and the marathon in April, the Slovak Food Fest in May, Coronation Days in June, the opening of the Piešťany spa season in June, and the IFF Art Film festival in KošiceBratislava, Piešťany and Košice
Pohoda in early July, the Summer Shakespeare Festival in Bratislava from July into August, the Craftsmen Days in August, and the mountains in their hiking seasonBratislava, Piešťany or Poprad
the Cinematik film festival in Piešťany in early September, the Bratislava Music Festival in the autumn, the Peace Marathon in Košice on the first Sunday of October and the White Night in Bratislavaautumn weekends and city visits
The Slovak calendar: markets, festivals and Europe's oldest marathon
Dated events fill an apron fastest, and most concentrate private flights on a single airport:
What a Slovak peak does to a flight plan
The pinch points are the Christmas and New Year weeks and the school holidays in the Tatras, the first weekend of Pohoda and any week when a trade conference fills Bratislava. Stands at Poprad, the short hours at Piešťany and the hotel cars come first, then the rest. A request sent as soon as the dates are known gives the permit, the handler and the stand time to line up.

Flying to Slovakia with a dog or a cat
A dog or cat travels in the cabin beside you, and the paperwork has two halves: the European set for the way out and one vet appointment for the way home. Slovakia applies the rules of the European Union, and its State Veterinary and Food Administration treats a pet arriving from Britain as coming from a listed country, so no import permit, no quarantine and no blood test come into it.
The one fact to read before you book
The animal must carry an ISO microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination or at the same time, and a rabies vaccination given from the age of 12 weeks, with 21 days to pass before travel. A health certificate from an official vet is issued for each trip and is valid for ten days for entry. No more than five pets may travel with one person, and a British pet passport cannot be used to enter the EU.
Coming home is where the diary matters. A dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet no less than 24 and no more than 120 hours before it arrives in Great Britain, with the product, date and time entered in the document, and a cat does not. Slovakia is not one of the countries that ask for a tapeworm treatment on the way in. Because the window for the way home is short, we book a vet near the hotel alongside the flight and count back from the departure time.
- A microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination or at the same time;
- A rabies vaccination at 12 weeks or later, with 21 days elapsed before travel;
- An official veterinary health certificate for each trip;
- For a dog on the homeward leg, the tapeworm treatment 24 to 120 hours before landing in Great Britain.
Cats need the same list without the worming. The point of entry for an animal is not always the airfield that has customs, so we agree it with the veterinary authority before the quote goes out. A ski party landing at Poprad with a retriever needs to know that before the date is fixed, and if Poprad, Piešťany or Košice cannot receive the animal, the flight goes to Bratislava and the animal rides on by road. We confirm the entry point and the paperwork in writing before the flight. Some Slovak municipalities restrict certain bull breeds, so we ask for the breed at the quote stage.
Requirements for birds, rabbits and the less usual species, along with the countries where the timeline runs to months, are set out on our flying with pets guide.

Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. Slovakia feeds a steady supply of them, mostly in winter and in business weeks, because aircraft that bring a party out often fly home with no one aboard, or fly out empty to collect a group at the end of its week.
Where Slovak empty legs come from
– The ski season: charters bring groups to Poprad for a week and the aircraft returns empty, and the same happens in reverse on the changeover weekends;
– The business calendar: a jet takes executives to a car plant or a steelworks, waits a day or goes home, and returns for them later, leaving two sectors with no one aboard;
– Spa and festival weekends: aircraft land at Piešťany or Bratislava with guests and position away, and aircraft from Vienna, Prague or Budapest reposition to Britain for a client.
A client who can offer a few days has a far better chance of a match, though the operator owns the date and a leg can disappear when the original booking changes. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page. A selection of Slovak empty legs follows:

| UK (Edinburgh) - Slovakia (Bratislava) nonstop |
Challenger 350 | 9 seats | £8,050 |
How to read those figures
– Each price is for the whole aircraft rather than per seat. A Citation XLS+ from Manchester with eight aboard comes to about £750 a head.

Helicopter charter
In Slovakia a helicopter saves the road between the airport and the castle, the spa or the slope, not the crossing from Britain. These are our estimates for the main transfers, calculated at about 115 knots with a few minutes for the start and the landing:
the Tatra lake resort, instead of a drive up the valleyabout 10 min
the big ski area on Chopok, across the valley on the Low Tatras sideabout 25 min
the UNESCO castle above Spišské Podhradie, east of Levočaabout 20 min
the spa island, instead of a drive up the Váh valleyabout 25 min
the UNESCO silver-mining town in its calderaabout 45 min
the old town in the north-east of the countryabout 30 min
These are estimates and move with the weather and the load. We confirm the aircraft, the route, the number of passengers and the baggage allowance for your date before the offer goes out.
Two points on Slovak rotary legs
A helicopter that lands away from an airfield needs a site that the operator and the owner of the land have agreed, and the choice is narrow in a national park and around a castle or an old town. A flight in the mountains in winter depends on cloud and wind, so the helicopter and the jet are booked together, with the road transfer as the fallback.

Slovak charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
Six typical jobs put together from booking notes with the particulars changed, so none describes one named client or date.
BRATISLAVA · A DAY AT THE PLANT
Two directors, a supplier audit and a return the same evening
Biggin Hill - Bratislava, Citation CJ3+, about 2 h 05 min · 2 pax
Wheels up at seven, a car waiting at the General Aviation Terminal on landing, a morning at the factory and lunch with the plant manager. The aircraft was back in Kent in time for dinner.
POPRAD · THE SKI WEEK
A family of five and a hold full of ski bags
London Luton - Poprad, Citation CJ3+, about 2 h 25 min · 5 pax
They landed in the town below the mountains instead of a long road journey from Vienna. The handler had the bags on the apron and the car for the resort at the foot of the aircraft steps.
PIEŠŤANY · THE SPA WEEKEND
A couple and a four-night stay on the spa island
Farnborough - Piešťany, Phenom 300E, about 2 h 05 min · 2 pax
The spa town's own airfield put them minutes from the hotel instead of a drive of some 75 km from Bratislava. The return was timed for the afternoon, because customs there works to daytime hours.
KOŠICE · THE STEELWORKS
Six engineers and two days of meetings in the east
Manchester - Košice, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 35 min · 6 pax
Košice was chosen over Bratislava because the plant is a short drive from the airport, against about 400 km by road from the capital. The airport's terminal cleared them on arrival and the party flew home on the second evening.
WITH THE DOG · TAPEWORM FIRST
A couple and a labrador on a long weekend
Southampton - Bratislava, Phenom 300E, about 2 h 05 min · 2 pax + dog
The certificate was dated six days before departure, and a vet near the hotel gave the tapeworm treatment on the Friday afternoon, inside the window for the Sunday flight home.
EMPTY LEG · AFTER THE SKI WEEK
A flexible return to London
Poprad - London Luton, Citation CJ3+ empty leg, about 2 h 25 min · 3 pax
The client gave us a window of two days instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid about £4,800, a little under half of a fresh one-way charter on the same sector, for a Monday departure.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Slovakia
1How long does it take to fly to Slovakia by private jet?
About 2 hours 5 minutes from Biggin Hill to Bratislava in a Citation CJ3+, about 2 hours 15 minutes from Manchester in a Citation XLS+ and about 2 hours 30 minutes from Glasgow in a Challenger 350. Poprad, the airport for the High Tatras, takes about 2 hours 20 minutes from Biggin Hill. Slovakia is one hour ahead of Britain all year, so a morning departure lands before lunch local time.
2How much does a private jet to Slovakia cost?
From about £10,100 one way from Biggin Hill to Bratislava on a Citation CJ3+, the same from London City and £10,350 from Luton. A Citation XLS+ from Manchester is about £14,150 and a Challenger 350 from Glasgow about £19,800. Piešťany costs about £10,250 from Biggin Hill, Poprad about £11,250 and Košice about £11,800.
3Which airports do private jets use in Slovakia?
Bratislava is the gateway for large jets, with a General Aviation Terminal that has its own passport and customs control and a team on duty round the clock. Košice serves the east, with a general aviation and VIP terminal and a 3,100 metre runway. Poprad-Tatry is the airport for the High Tatras and works mostly on daytime hours, and Piešťany serves the spa country with listed weekday hours.
4What are the passport and customs rules for a private flight from Britain to Slovakia?
British citizens may stay up to 90 days in any 180 without a visa, and the passport must be less than ten years old on arrival and valid for three months after departure. Photos and fingerprints are taken under the Entry/Exit System. The first Slovak landing must be at an airport with a customs and passport service, such as Bratislava, Košice, Poprad or Piešťany. A paid charter by a British operator needs a permit from the Ministry of Transport, applied for at least three working days ahead, and we confirm which rule applies to a private flight.
5Can I take my dog or cat on a private jet to Slovakia?
Yes. The animal needs a microchip, a rabies vaccination given from 12 weeks and valid after 21 days, and an official health certificate issued within ten days before entry. A dog coming home needs a tapeworm treatment 24 to 120 hours before it lands in Great Britain, so we book a vet for the day before the flight. We confirm in writing which airport receives the animal.
6How early should I book a private jet to Slovakia?
As soon as the dates are known, and at least a few working days ahead for a paid charter, which needs a permit applied for three working days before the first flight. The Christmas and New Year weeks in the Tatras, the first weekend of Pohoda in July and the spa season fill the aprons first, and Poprad and Piešťany close in the evening.
