Private jet charter in Dominica
A green island of volcanic ridges, one international airport and no private jet terminal of its own: that is the starting point for a flight from Britain to Dominica, the Caribbean's self-styled Nature Island and not the Dominican Republic. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. For Dominica that means a super-midsize or larger jet, a technical stop in the Azores or a very long non-stop leg, and a landing at Douglas-Charles on the north-east coast, with a long drive over the mountains to Roseau.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Dominica depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Farnborough, an Embraer Praetor 600 to Douglas-Charles Airport in Dominica with one technical stop in the Azores, and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Dominica?
From Farnborough the straight line to the island is 3,723 nautical miles. A Praetor 600 or a Challenger 350 flies it in two legs through Santa Maria in the Azores, 1,400 nautical miles and then 2,403, together 80 more than the direct line, so the stop costs about an hour on the ground and very little extra distance. An ultra-long-range jet can cover the whole distance in one hop. Dominica keeps Atlantic Standard Time all year, four hours behind Britain in winter and five in summer. Times are westbound and count flying time only:
3,803 nautical miles from Farnborough in two legs, with about an hour on the ground at Santa Mariaabout 9 h 15 min plus the stop
3,723 nautical miles from Farnborough in a single hop, if the take-off weight allowsabout 8 h 15 min
104 nautical miles, the usual way on to a larger airportabout 55 min gate to gate
3,723 nautical miles to Farnborough, with the jet stream behind the aircraftabout 7 h
What sets the aircraft for this island
The airport has a single asphalt runway that directories list at about 5,760 feet, and a reported extension of roughly 590 feet more. Scheduled airline jets from Miami are listed, so the runway takes large aircraft; the question for a private jet is take-off weight on a warm day with transatlantic fuel aboard.
The operator's performance calculation for your aircraft, load and date decides between a landing on Dominica and a landing on Antigua with a short hop on. We confirm it in writing before a quote is accepted.
The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

Prices for the private jet flights to Dominica
Typical charter prices from Britain, cheapest first. The cheaper rows are super-midsize jets that reach the island after one stop in the Azores. The dearer ones are large-cabin jets that fly it non-stop, which is only worth paying for when the party and the luggage need the space:

Two things worth knowing about these figures
– A Praetor 600 from Farnborough starts at £59,850, and the same aircraft from Biggin Hill is £60,300. A Falcon 900LX from Biggin Hill non-stop is about £93,900 and a Gulfstream G650ER about £121,050. The larger jet buys cabin space and a single hop, not a shorter journey time on the ground at the other end;
– A one-way price carries the aircraft's journey home, because the jet has to cross the Atlantic again whether it carries you or not. A stay of a week or two booked as a return, or a flexible date that catches an empty leg, changes the arithmetic more than any negotiation. Air Passenger Duty is shown as a separate line in the quotation.
Private jet flights from Dominica to its neighbours
Dominica has two airports and no domestic network to speak of, so a private flight from the island is almost always a hop to a neighbour. Commuter carriers fly most of these routes, and a charter is chosen for timing, for luggage or to avoid a transfer:

Every sector ends in another jurisdiction
Guadeloupe and Martinique are French, Antigua, Saint Lucia and Barbados are separate countries, and Sint Maarten is divided between France and the Netherlands. Each landing is a fresh entry with its own passport and customs checks, so we ask for the local handler's confirmation before a regional hop is quoted.
We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Due to a large database of available business jets, we can help you find an optimal jet and crew. If you have any questions about the departure or the flight itself, you can ask them using the form below:
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Dominica:
Turboprops
The aircraft for the islands, not for the crossing. They are the sensible choice for a hop to Antigua or Guadeloupe and are the type that uses Canefield.
Light jets
They suit the hops from neighbouring gateways to Douglas-Charles, but no light jet makes the crossing from Britain.
Super-midsize
The class we price for a landing on Dominica with one stop in the Azores. The operator confirms the performance for your date and load.
Heavy jets
Room for a family with staff. With one stop in the Azores they reach the island, and the performance check matters more as the cabin fills.
Ultra-long range
The class that crosses in one hop. For Dominica we look at the take-off weight first and keep Antigua as the alternative landing.

Business aviation airports for Dominica
Dominica is a small state with a modest business aviation market, and that shows in the airport directories: a single international runway, no named FBO and a handling arrangement that depends on who we engage. We say so plainly rather than describe a terminal we cannot confirm.
| Airport | Ground | How it operates |
|---|---|---|
| Douglas-Charles DOM / TDPD |
The north-east coast near Marigot, about 56 kilometres from Roseau; allow up to about two hours by road over the mountains, and about an hour to Portsmouth | The airport we plan on. One asphalt runway, 09/27, listed at about 5,760 by 148 feet and reported as extended, elevation 73 feet, fire category 7. Slots are not required and handling is not mandatory. No dedicated private jet terminal is listed: a flight-support provider offers marshalling, ground power, stairs and baggage handling with VIP terminal access, and the terminal has an executive lounge with assisted immigration and customs. Jet fuel is listed, with Pike Aviation and CST Flight Services shown as suppliers. The tower is listed from 06:00 to 22:00 local time, older government guidance says sunrise to sunset, and approaches from the west are described as visual only, so we plan on daylight |
| Canefield DCF / TDCF |
About 5 kilometres north of Roseau, on the west coast | A short runway of about 3,130 by 75 feet, operated in daylight and used by turboprops, light aircraft and an occasional light jet. It is the closest field to the capital, and it is no airport for a crossing from Britain. A turboprop from Antigua or Guadeloupe is the realistic use |
| Antigua V. C. Bird ANU / TAPA |
104 nautical miles to the north-north-west of Dominica | The practical alternative for a transatlantic jet that is too heavy for Douglas-Charles. A runway of about 9,000 feet, a Signature terminal with a crew lounge, catering and customs and immigration on site. From there a turboprop reaches Dominica in about an hour gate to gate |
Daylight first
Directories disagree on the opening hours, and the approach from the west is described as visual. We plan every arrival for daylight, because a late departure from Britain turns into a night landing.
A new airport is being built
A new international airport with a much longer runway is under construction at Wesley, on the same north-east coast, and is meant to replace Douglas-Charles. Until the opening is confirmed we plan on the existing runway.
Charter permission and passenger data
Older government guidance lists prior permission from the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority at least 24 hours before landing for a non-scheduled flight that carries passengers, with the operator's insurance certificate and a local handling agent named in the request. Advance passenger information is required for private flights under the regional scheme. The operator and our team file both, and we confirm the current requirement before departure.
Arriving from Britain: passports, customs and what to carry
Dominica is an independent republic inside the Commonwealth. A flight from London arrives as an international flight, and everyone aboard clears immigration and customs at the first Dominican airport the aircraft reaches.
valid for at least six months after the day you arrive; British citizens need no visa, are normally admitted for up to six months, and may be asked for an onward or return ticketevery passenger, children included
86 East Caribbean dollars or 33 US dollars, usually included in an airline ticket; on a private flight ask the handler how it is collectedask the handler
prohibited, taxed or dutiable goods are declared, and cash or travellers cheques worth 10,000 East Caribbean dollars or more must be declared, for which a certified declaration is issueddeclare when in doubt
British government travel advice does not cover private aircraft, and refers questions about them to the Dominica High Commission in London. We therefore confirm the arrival procedure with the handler and in writing before the flight rather than assume it.
Coming home is a flight into Britain from outside the country. A General Aviation Report goes to the border authorities not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departure, and British and Irish citizens need no electronic travel authorisation, while most other nationalities do.

Which part of Dominica is near the airport
The island is about 47 kilometres long and 26 wide, mountainous, and the roads follow the valleys and the coast. Douglas-Charles is on the wrong side for the capital, and the transfer is part of the plan:
the nearest villages, with the Kalinago Territory, home to most of the island's Indigenous people, on the east coastDouglas-Charles
the capital and most hotels, about 56 kilometres by road, with up to about two hours to allow for the mountain roads; Canefield, 5 kilometres from Roseau, is the close field for a turbopropDouglas-Charles or Canefield
Dominica: what our clients go for
The island covers about 750 square kilometres and has some 72,000 people. Its highest point, Morne Diablotins, rises to roughly 1,450 metres, and the interior is rainforest, rivers, waterfalls and hot springs. Morne Trois Pitons National Park is a World Heritage Site, and the Boiling Lake, a hot lake, is reported as the second-largest of its kind. There are few beaches, which is why Dominica developed more slowly as a resort than its neighbours.
The traffic is therefore specialised: walkers and divers, small eco-lodges, groups for the carnival and music weeks, and people visiting family. Sperm whales live off the leeward coast all year, which draws whale-watching parties. The capital is Roseau, English is official and Kwéyòl, a French-based creole, is widely spoken. Hurricane Maria struck as a Category 5 storm, and the island has been rebuilding.
The year in Dominica: dry months, wet months and hurricanes
The island is a rainforest, so it rains in every month. The difference is how much, and how the sea behaves:
the dry season, with calmer seas and the best weather for walking and diving; January to April brings the highest prices and the most visitorspeak
quieter weeks and lower prices, with the weather turning wetter from Juneshoulder
the wet and hurricane season, with the greatest risk from mid-August to early October; September is among the quietest monthslow season, hurricane risk
Whales, hikes and the calendar
Sightings of sperm whales are easiest from November to March, when the sea is calmest, and daytime highs stay between about 24 and 31 degrees all year. A hurricane warning closes airports, so for September and October we keep dates flexible.
The Dominica calendar: carnival, music and independence
The big dates are few, and on an island with one international airport each of them is felt there:
The festival weeks fill the guesthouses and the road to Roseau, and there is no second runway to move to, so we confirm the handler, the transfer and the parking with the flight.

Flying to Dominica with a dog or a cat
A dog or cat travels in the cabin. The way home is stricter than the way out.
The two facts to read before you book
Dominica asks for an import permit applied for at least two weeks before arrival, a rabies vaccination given not less than 30 days and not more than 12 months before entry, and an original health certificate completed by a licensed vet and endorsed by a government vet. The Veterinary Services are notified of the arrival 48 hours in advance, and the airports of entry listed for animals are Douglas-Charles and Canefield. An animal that meets the rules is not put in quarantine.
On the way home Dominica is not a listed country for the British rules. The animal needs a Great Britain pet health certificate and a rabies blood test on top of the usual rules, which carries a waiting period of its own, and a dog needs tapeworm treatment from a vet no less than 24 hours and no more than 5 days before landing in Britain. An animal that does not meet the conditions can be quarantined for up to four months.
- The microchip, ISO 15-digit, is recommended and its number goes on every document;
- A rabies antibody blood test, drawn at least 30 days after the vaccine and processed at an approved laboratory, is listed by one pet-travel source for Dominica, and it is needed for the return in any case;
- Treatment against internal and external parasites is given shortly before travel;
- Puppies and kittens are vaccinated from three months of age and wait 30 days.
Wolf hybrids and Savannah and Bengal cats are excluded unless they are at least five generations from the wild ancestor. We confirm the permit with the Ministry of Agriculture and the entry point and paperwork in writing before the flight. Requirements for birds, rabbits and the less usual species are set out on our flying with pets guide.

Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. A charter to a small island is one-way by nature, and the aircraft has to cross an ocean to get home, so a leg to or from the Eastern Caribbean appears whenever a jet is sent out to collect a party or flies home after dropping one.
These legs are less regular than on a busy European corridor, and a client who can offer a few days has a far better chance of a match. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page. A selection of empty legs on the Dominica runs follows:
| Route | Aircraft | Capacity | Whole aircraft |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dominica - UK (London Farnborough) | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £25,150 |
| UK (London Gatwick) - Dominica | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £25,250 |
| Dominica - UK (London Luton) | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £25,350 |
| UK (Belfast) - Dominica | Challenger 350 | 9 seats | £29,400 |
| Dominica - UK (Belfast) | Falcon 900LX | 12 seats | £37,900 |
| UK (London Biggin Hill) - Dominica | Falcon 900LX | 12 seats | £39,450 |
Each price is for the whole aircraft rather than per seat.

Helicopter charter
We did not find a regular helicopter service on Dominica. A helicopter here is arranged case by case, from an operator on a neighbouring island, with the landing site and the customs clearance agreed in advance. For a transfer between Douglas-Charles and the capital area the road is the usual answer, and a helicopter is arranged on request.

Flights from the UK to Dominica
We fly this corridor from every British airfield in the list below, and the price table higher up covers thirteen of those pairings. Our clients have access to all airports of the UK and Europe. Due to the unique partnership conditions, we can offer our clients the best prices for business aviation services. OCTOBER · A MUSIC FESTIVAL
A non-stop crossing
Biggin Hill - Dominica, Falcon 900LX, about 9 h 10 min · 4 pax
The client wanted no stop. The operator checked the take-off weight against the runway, and Antigua stayed as the alternative landing if the figures did not close.
A SHORT HOP · TWO GUESTS
From the big airport to the island
Antigua - Dominica, Pilatus PC-12 NGX, about 55 min gate to gate · 2 pax
Two guests arrived on a long-range jet that landed at Antigua, and a turboprop took them on in daylight.
A CHAIN TOUR · FOUR GUESTS
Dominica to Guadeloupe
Dominica - Guadeloupe, Pilatus PC-12 NGX, about 40 min · 4 pax
After a week of walking and diving the party moved on to Guadeloupe, with the handler arranging clearance on departure.
WITH THE DOG · A PERMIT FIRST
A couple, a spaniel and a month in the forest
Farnborough - Dominica via the Azores, Praetor 600, about 9 h 15 min plus the stop · 2 pax + dog
The import permit was requested a month ahead, and the rabies blood test and the return paperwork were planned before the outbound flight.
EMPTY LEG · AFTER THE SEASON
A flexible return to Belfast
Dominica - Belfast, Challenger 350 empty leg, about 7 h 45 min plus the stop · 3 pax
The client gave us a window of four days instead of a date, and paid about £29,400, well under half of a fresh one-way charter on the same sector.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Dominica
1How long does it take to fly to Dominica by private jet?
About 9 h 10 min non-stop from a London airfield in a Falcon 900LX, and about 9 h 15 min in a Praetor 600 plus about an hour on the ground in the Azores. The way home is shorter with the jet stream behind the aircraft.
2How much does a private jet to Dominica cost?
From about £59,850 one way from Farnborough in a Praetor 600 with a stop in the Azores. A Falcon 900LX non-stop from Biggin Hill is about £93,900. Air Passenger Duty is shown as a separate line in the quotation.
3Which airports do private jets use for Dominica?
Douglas-Charles (DOM, TDPD) on the north-east coast is the airport for jets, with no dedicated private terminal and handling arranged through a flight-support provider. Canefield (DCF, TDCF) near Roseau has a short runway for turboprops and light aircraft. Heavy jets can use Antigua as an alternative and fly on.
4What are the passport and customs rules for a private flight from Britain to Dominica?
British citizens need no visa and are normally admitted for up to six months, with a passport valid for at least six months after arrival. Prohibited, taxed or dutiable goods and cash of 10,000 East Caribbean dollars or more are declared, and departure tax is paid when leaving.
5Can I take my dog or cat on a private jet to Dominica?
Yes, with an import permit applied for at least two weeks ahead, a rabies vaccination at least 30 days before entry, and an original health certificate endorsed by a government vet. Dominica is not a listed country for the British rules, so the way home needs a Great Britain pet health certificate and a rabies blood test, planned in advance.
6When is the best time to fly to Dominica, and how early should I book?
December to April is the dry season and January to April the busiest. The hurricane season runs from June to November, with the greatest risk from mid-August to early October. Book early for carnival in February and for the World Creole Music Festival in late October.
