Private jet charter in Jersey
Jersey lies about 160 nautical miles from London, a light-jet sector shorter than the flight to Manchester, and yet the island stands outside both the United Kingdom and the European Union. It is a Crown Dependency in the Common Travel Area, with its own customs service, its own goods and services tax and a single 1,706-metre runway that serves airliners and business jets side by side. Private Jets UK plans these flights around that mix. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. In Jersey the details that matter are small ones: a single executive handler to brief before you land, a declaration that reaches both customs and police, and a car that is already waiting when the wheels stop in St Peter.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Jersey depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from London Biggin Hill Airport, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ nonstop to Jersey and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Jersey?
Jersey runs on London time, on Greenwich Mean Time in winter and British Summer Time in summer, so nobody resets a watch on the way. The sectors below are from British airfields to Jersey, gate to gate:
nonstop, 160 nautical miles with the routing allowanceabout 45 min
nonstop, 141 nautical miles, the shortest of the London fieldsabout 40 min
nonstop, 114 nautical miles, a short hop across the Channel from the south coastabout 35 min
nonstop, 203 nautical milesabout 50 min
nonstop, 259 nautical milesabout 55 min
nonstop, 423 nautical miles, the longest run in the table together with Glasgowabout 1 h 20 min
Most of the time is spent on the ground
A jet out of the south of England climbs, levels off and begins to descend almost at once. A Citation CJ3+ that leaves Biggin Hill at half past seven touches down at St Peter at about a quarter past eight, and the car from the executive terminal reaches the centre of St Helier in about a quarter of an hour. What stretches the day is not the air, but the preparation on the ground.
Three things are settled before the aircraft moves: the executive handler is told the arrival time, because heavier visiting aircraft use a single appointed agent; the general declaration for the island is filed beside the British one; and the return is fixed against the airport's closing time, which is in the evening and not at night.
Scheduled seat or private jet: where the extra money goes
– Jersey is well served by the airlines. Gatwick is the busiest route, and summer weekends bring heavy scheduled traffic from the British regional carriers. A single traveller with a single appointment will usually find a scheduled seat that does the job at a fraction of the price;
– A private jet wins when three or more people travel together, when the day includes both Jersey and Guernsey, when the schedule has to bend around a closing or a funeral rather than around an airline's timetable, and when luggage, a dog or a set of golf clubs would turn a scheduled trip into an ordeal.
The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

What the figures leave out
– The cheapest departures share one number. Biggin Hill, London City, Luton and Birmingham on a Citation CJ3+ all come to £5,300, because at this distance the minimum charge, not the mileage, sets the price. Farnborough, Southampton, Exeter and Bristol on a Phenom 300E are £5,700. The north follows the distance and the bigger cabin: Manchester on a Citation XLS+ is £6,800, Edinburgh £8,250;
– The figure covers the aircraft, the crew, fuel, the handler's fee and the landing charge at Jersey. Catering on request, a car and hangar space are extra, and so is parking: the airport bills it per 24-hour period, and for aircraft of three tonnes and over the charging clock starts after 12 hours on the ground. A party that stays on the island for the weekend should price the parking before it books.
Private jet flights from Jersey to the other islands and the continent
Jersey is the largest of the Channel Islands and the one closest to France: the Cotentin coast is about 22 kilometres away, while Guernsey lies 41 km to the north-west, Alderney 57 km to the north and Cherbourg 74 km to the north-east. The Bailiwick also takes in two groups of rocks, Les Ecrehous and Les Minquiers, which have no airfield and no permanent population. A turboprop covers every island or Normandy hop in half an hour or less, and a jet is not much quicker.

Two points on these sectors
– The short hops are priced by the minimum charge. Guernsey, Alderney, Cherbourg and Dinard take between 25 and 30 minutes in the air, and a Pilatus PC-12 is the sensible aircraft for them, from £3,100. Put a Citation CJ3+ on the same hop and the figure becomes £5,300, which is why we offer the turboprop when the trip ends at an island;
– Guernsey is not a domestic hop: it has its own customs regime, its own handlers and its own declaration, and Alderney sits inside the same jurisdiction. Cherbourg and Dinard are in France, so a flight there is an entry into the Schengen area with passport control. Beyond them the rows follow the questions we hear most: Le Bourget for Paris, Nantes and Bordeaux for the Atlantic side, Dublin inside the same travel area, and Geneva, Zurich and Nice for the mountains and the coast.
We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Due to a large database of available business jets, we can help you find an optimal jet and crew. If you have any questions about the departure or the flight itself, you can ask them using the form below:
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. At Jersey the runway is generous by island standards, so the choice follows the party and the luggage more than the pavement, and these are the typical selections:
Light jets
The class behind the price in the title. Four to six people cross from the London fields in under an hour, and a runway of 1,706 metres leaves a CJ3+ or a Phenom 300E with plenty in hand.
Midsize
The usual pick from the Midlands and the north, and for a family with a week of luggage. A Citation XLS+ or a Latitude gives a standing cabin and a hold for bags and golf clubs, and the Jersey runway is long enough for both without special planning.
Super-midsize and large
For delegations and parties that travel with staff. The handler lists the runway as suited to most midsize and super-midsize jets, and larger cabins land here as well; we run the take-off figures for the day before a price goes out, since the aircraft has to leave again with its fuel.
Heavy and ultra-long range
A visit by a heavy jet is possible, because airliners use the same pavement, but the island is rarely the natural destination. A heavy aircraft usually appears here as a positioning leg or a quick arrival from Britain, and the handler confirms parking and weight limits in writing first.
Turboprops
The practical choice for the islands. A King Air or a PC-12 reaches Guernsey, Alderney and the Norman coast for far less than a jet, and a PC-12 is the aircraft we check first for a short strip such as Alderney's, which no ordinary jet can use.

For a Jersey booking the best aircraft is seldom on the island. The nearest suitable jet may stand at Biggin Hill, Farnborough, Southampton or Guernsey, so the positioning leg moves the price more than the choice of model does. We look at the whole map before a number is sent.

Business aviation airports in Jersey
Jersey has one airport, and every flight from Britain is built around it. It is a busy regional field with airline traffic all day, which suits a jet in one way, because the services are there, and troubles it in another, because summer weekends crowd the aprons. Guernsey, 22 nautical miles away, is the usual alternative. The facts below come from the airport, its handler and the published guidance, and every opening time is confirmed in writing before a flight:
| Airport | Ground | How it operates |
|---|---|---|
| Jersey, St Peter JER / EGJJ |
about 4 nautical miles west-north-west of St Helier, in the parish of St Peter, roughly a 15-minute drive from the capital | The only airport on the island and the gateway for every jet. One paved runway, 08/26, 1,706 m long, at 277 feet above sea level. It handles a large scheduled programme of about 1.4 million passengers a year, with British Airways, easyJet, Jet2, Aurigny, Loganair, KLM, Lufthansa and Eurowings among the carriers, so the business jets share the pavement with airliners. Visiting executive aircraft of more than three tonnes are looked after by Gama Aviation, which lists a VIP passenger lounge, a crew lounge, a conference room, a hangar, catering, ground power, fuelling and international handling, and customs is carried out on site in the terminal. Gama quotes its day as 7 am to 9 pm, and the airport applies a night curfew with out-of-hours charge bands for movements after normal closing. Light aircraft under three tonnes are typically handled by the Jersey Aero Club instead. Parking is billed per 24-hour period, and aircraft of three tonnes and over are charged after 12 hours on the ground |
| Guernsey GCI / EGJB |
about 22 nautical miles north-west of Jersey, in the Bailiwick of Guernsey | The natural alternate and the other half of an island programme, a flight of about 25 minutes gate to gate. One runway of 1,463 m, handling by Aiglle Flight Support or ASG, customs and immigration on site, and an airport that lists its day as 6:30 am to 9 pm local time. It has its own General Aviation Report and its own rules, so a diversion is planned with the paperwork in hand rather than improvised |
| Cherbourg and Dinard LFRC and LFRD |
about 40 nautical miles to the north-east and to the south on the Norman and Breton coasts | The two French airfields on the lists of nearby alternates, both a short sector from Jersey. A landing there is an entry into the Schengen area with passport control, so they are a weather plan for a party with passports in order rather than a quick substitute. We check the opening hours, the handler and the customs cover for the date before either is named as a fallback |
Four points settle most Jersey arrivals before a quote goes out:
The handler: one executive agent for visiting jets
For aircraft over three tonnes Gama Aviation is the appointed executive handler, so there is no beauty parade to run. We send the arrival details, the passenger list and the catering order to the handler, which arranges fuel, ground power, the hangar or the apron and the customs meeting at the terminal.
The day: finish before the evening
Gama lists 7 am to 9 pm, the airport's own published hours differ between summer and winter, and a night curfew limits what comes after. A late movement is possible only as an out-of-hours arrangement with a charge attached, so we plan the return from the closing time backwards and treat anything later as a favour to ask.
The summer: ask for the slot early
Slot coordination is advised from May to September, when weekend traffic from British regional carriers is heavy. A request for a Friday or a Sunday in July reaches the handler a few weeks ahead, not the night before.
The paperwork: one form for customs and police
The pilot files a general declaration for the island before departure, up to seven days ahead, and it reaches Jersey Customs and Immigration and the States of Jersey Police together. A British General Aviation Report filed through the usual online service can generate the Jersey form automatically, and the British end of the flight still needs its own report.
When Jersey says no: weather and the plan B
An island in the Channel takes its share of sea fog, and a single runway has no second option on the day. Guernsey is the first alternate, about 25 minutes away, but fog can close both islands together, and then Cherbourg or Dinard on the French side or Southampton on the English side takes the aircraft. We name the alternate, its handler and a car before departure, and we tell the party what a diversion into France would mean for passports.
Arriving from Britain: passports, customs and what to carry
Jersey is a Crown Dependency, not a part of the United Kingdom, and it is outside the European Union, but it belongs to the Common Travel Area with the United Kingdom, Guernsey, the Isle of Man and Ireland. A flight from Britain therefore arrives without a queue at an immigration desk, although customs and tax stop at the water's edge. We confirm in writing who meets the party at the terminal.
the airport and the harbour have no queued immigration controls for people arriving from within the Common Travel Area, yet officers may check anyone, so every passenger brings photographic identification, and the aircraft operator may ask for it as welladults and children
someone who is lawfully in the United Kingdom and travelling within their permission does not need a separate visa for Jersey; anyone arriving from outside the Common Travel Area needs the visa that their nationality requirestell us at the start
Jersey runs its own electronic travel authorisation for non-visa nationals; it covers private aircraft, applies to each traveller including children and babies, has to be applied for at least three working days ahead and costs about £20; British and Irish citizens are exemptwe check each passport
Jersey charges goods and services tax at 5 per cent, not VAT; the allowance for goods brought in on a private aircraft is £270 a person, and a package that is over the limit becomes liable at its full value, not just on the excessdeclare when in doubt
adults may bring 200 cigarettes or 250 g of tobacco, 1 litre of spirits, 4 litres of wine and 16 litres of beer or cider in one allowance; anything above it is declared on arrivallimits are per adult
the pilot submits a general declaration to the island before departure, and a UK report is filed separately for the British end, not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departurewe prepare both with the handler
a dog or cat travelling with its owner from Britain needs no certificate for Jersey; animals from outside the British Isles require contact with the States Veterinary Department firstsee the pets section below
Flying back: Jersey sits outside the UK tax area
Flying back is an arrival from a territory with its own customs and tax regime, and goods bought on Jersey meet the British allowances on the return. For a private aircraft that is £270 in total, against £390 for a scheduled service, with separate limits for tobacco and alcohol. Anything over the limit is declared to HM Revenue and Customs on arrival.
A passenger with a nationality that is not British or Irish should tell us when the enquiry begins. Whether an authorisation or a visa is needed depends on where the journey starts and where it ends, not on the aircraft, and an application takes longer to process than a jet takes to book.

Which part of Jersey the airport serves, and the way on to the other islands
Jersey is small enough that the airport is never far from anything, and the real choice is between the parishes, not between airports. For the other islands and the coast of France the boat takes over, and its timetable decides the plan:
the only town, with the harbour, the marina and the main hotels; the castle on the islet of Elizabeth Castle sits in the bay and is reached on foot by a causeway at low tideJersey, 15 minutes by car
the long sandy bay lies a short drive south of the airfield, and St Aubin has a harbour front with restaurants on the waterJersey
the old fishing port below Mont Orgueil Castle, a medieval fortress of the 13th century above the harbour; the Royal Bay of Grouville stretches along the coast beside itJersey
cliff paths, the war tunnels of St Lawrence, which run for over a kilometre, and Jersey Zoo, founded by Gerald DurrellJersey
the nearest island, 22 nautical miles away; a ferry takes about 1 hour 10 minutes, a PC-12 about 25 minutesGuernsey, for a second island
a car-free island with no airfield, reached by a boat that takes roughly an hour and a quarter from Jersey on a limited timetableGuernsey, then the ferry, or by sea direct
Granville and Carteret on the Norman coast are an hour and a quarter by sea, St Malo a ferry of about 1 hour 50 minutes; by air the nearest fields are Cherbourg and DinardCherbourg or Dinard
St Helier, the finance houses and the Jersey table: what our clients go for
About 104,000 people live on Jersey, roughly a third of them in St Helier, and the island of about 120 square kilometres is divided into twelve parishes, each led by a connétable. It governs itself through the States Assembly, with the Bailiff as civil head of the island and the Lieutenant Governor representing the Crown. Sterling is the currency, with Jersey's own notes and coins beside the British ones, and the standard rate of income tax is 20 per cent. Jersey charges goods and services tax at 5 per cent, and its default rate of corporate tax is zero.
Financial services account for close to two fifths of the island's economic output, which explains the weekday pattern of the private traffic: a banker, a trustee or a fund director who needs to be in St Helier for a board meeting and in London by evening. The day-return from a London field fits the airport's hours, and a light jet is the aircraft that suits it.
The leisure traffic has its own appeal. Mont Orgueil above Gorey is a medieval fortress, Elizabeth Castle on its islet in St Helier's bay was begun in the sixteenth century and is cut off by the tide for part of every day, and the German occupation left the tunnels at St Lawrence, now a museum, together with batteries and bunkers around the coast. The island marks its liberation each year on 9 May. Gerald Durrell founded his wildlife park here. The old Norman language, Jèrriais, is still spoken by a small share of islanders.
The table is a reason to come in itself. Jersey Royal potatoes, grown on steep coastal fields by hand and protected by origin, are harvested from late March into July, with May and June as the peak, and the Jersey cow still grazes the island's dairy pastures.
The Jersey year: new potatoes in spring, flowers in August and a quiet winter
Jersey has no dead season, but the private traffic follows the festival weeks and the weeks when the potato fields are in harvest:
typically the quietest months for leisure, with planting under glass beginning in November; daylight is short and the airport's evening closing makes winter returns an afternoon affairJersey
the first Royals come out of the ground from late March, and the food programme Taste Jersey runs through to the end of April, with the Delicious Jersey weekend at its closeJersey
Liberation Day on 9 May, the Jersey Boat Show in early May, the Foire de Jersey country fair, the Gorey Regatta in late May and the peak of the new-potato harvestJersey
the busiest weeks: the Jersey Street Theatre Festival in St Helier in July and the Battle of Flowers carnival in August, with slot coordination advised for the summer weekends from May to SeptemberJersey
the Jersey International Air Display at the airport itself, the Festival of Words in the second half of September and the marathon in early OctoberJersey
The island keeps British time, so there is no jet lag, and long summer evenings make a late dinner in St Aubin or Gorey a normal event. The practical limit is the airfield: a dinner that runs late is a night on the island, not a flight home.
The Jersey calendar: liberation, regattas, flowers and an air display
The apron and the hotels fill first on the dated events, and a few of them concentrate private arrivals into a single day:
What a festival does to a flight plan
The tight days are Liberation Day, the Battle of Flowers weekend and the week of the air display, which takes place on the airfield itself, so closures and parking are checked with the handler well ahead. Summer weekends add the slot coordination that the airport advises from May to September. Tell us the dates as soon as they are fixed, and the handler can agree the parking while the hotel still has rooms.

Flying to Jersey with a dog or a cat
A flight from Britain to Jersey keeps the pet paperwork light, because the animal never leaves the Common Travel Area. The rules belong to the island's own authorities rather than to the European Union, and what matters most is where the animal began its journey.
What the island asks of a pet
The government of Jersey lists no official health requirements for a dog, cat or ferret that travels between Jersey and the United Kingdom, including Northern Ireland, or the Isle of Man and the other Channel Islands. No vaccination and no pet passport are asked for, though the island advises a word with your vet about whether the animal is fit to fly. The minimum age to fly is eight weeks. Someone who travels privately by air or sea must not stop at a foreign port on the way.
An animal that comes from outside the British Isles is a different case. The States Veterinary Department asks owners to make contact before the journey, and we plan such a trip with the dog or cat routed through Britain first or left out of the Jersey leg, so that the papers are in order before the aircraft is booked.
- Pets from Britain, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands: no certificate or vaccination needed for Jersey, minimum age eight weeks to fly;
- Pets from elsewhere: contact the States Veterinary Department first, and tell us before the quote;
- Banned dog types are listed in Jersey law, and XL Bully type dogs need a licence to be brought in or out of the island;
- Northern Ireland: tapeworm treatment is mentioned for dogs travelling to and from it, and we check the rule for your date.
A dog that goes from Jersey to Britain for more than 30 days must be microchipped and registered on an approved database, and a dog that lives on Jersey needs a licence from the age of six months. The rules sit with several authorities, so we write down the position for your animal before the flight and promise nothing that an authority has not confirmed.
Birds, rabbits and the less usual species, and the countries where preparation takes months, are covered in our flying with pets guide.

Empty Legs
Empty legs are the flights an operator must fly without passengers and therefore sells cheaply. Jersey generates a regular stream of them: a jet that delivers a party to the island must go home light, and one that comes to fetch guests at the end of a stay arrives light.
Where Jersey empty legs come from
– The weekday finance traffic: aircraft that take trustees and directors out for the morning and fly back to the London fields in the evening, or position out the night before so that an early return is ready;
– The summer weekends: aircraft land with guests for the Battle of Flowers, the regatta or a week at a villa near the bay, and the return leg stays unsold until the party flies home;
– Aircraft from Guernsey, Southampton or Dinard that position to Britain for the next client, because the airfields are only a few minutes apart.
The traveller with a flexible window of a few days finds a match far more often, although the date belongs to the operator and a leg vanishes if the original booking moves. What is free at the moment of asking appears on our empty legs page. Some Jersey examples follow:
| Route | Aircraft | Capacity | Whole aircraft |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jersey - UK (Biggin Hill) nonstop |
Citation CJ3+ | 7 seats | £2,250 |
| Jersey - UK (Birmingham) nonstop |
Citation CJ3+ | 7 seats | £2,250 |
| UK (London Luton) - Jersey nonstop |
Citation CJ3+ | 7 seats | £2,250 |
| Jersey - UK (Farnborough) nonstop |
Phenom 300E | 8 seats | £2,400 |
| UK (Cardiff) - Jersey nonstop |
Phenom 300E | 8 seats | £2,400 |
| Jersey - UK (Leeds Bradford) nonstop |
Citation XLS+ | 9 seats | £2,850 |
| UK (Manchester) - Jersey nonstop |
Citation XLS+ | 9 seats | £2,850 |
| UK (Edinburgh) - Jersey nonstop |
Citation XLS+ | 9 seats | £3,450 |
How to read those figures
– The price covers the whole aircraft, not a seat. Share a Citation XLS+ from Manchester among eight people and each pays about £350. Even an empty leg has a floor on a hop this short: the lowest figure above is about £2,250.

Helicopter charter
Around Jersey a helicopter shortens the crossing of water rather than the drive. The times below are our own estimates for the main transfers from St Helier, worked out at about 115 knots plus a few minutes for take-off and landing:
island to island across the strait to a separate jurisdiction, with its own customs on landingabout 20 min
the northern island of the Guernsey Bailiwick, instead of a turboprop connectionabout 25 min
the car-free island, against a boat crossing of roughly an hour and a quarterabout 15 min

What to know before booking a rotary leg
No published list of public helicopter landing sites on the island came to light, and an airport directory shows no helicopter transfer service between the Channel Islands airports, so each landing place is agreed for the job with the airport and the landowner. Customs rules go wherever the aircraft crosses a border. Sea fog can stop a crossing altogether, which is why we book the helicopter with the jet and keep the ferry as the fallback.

Jersey charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
Six typical jobs, assembled from booking notes with the details altered, so none of them describes a named client or a dated flight.
ST HELIER · A DAY AT THE TRUST COMPANY
A trustee, a lawyer and a signing day
London City - Jersey, Citation CJ3+, about 45 min · 2 pax
Wheels up at half past seven, the car waiting at the executive terminal and the signing finished by mid-afternoon. They chose the light jet because the return had to be in London for a dinner, and the evening closing time of the airport left room for a delay.
TWO ISLANDS · JERSEY AND GUERNSEY
A family week split between two houses
Farnborough - Jersey, Phenom 300E, about 40 min · 5 pax
The party landed on Jersey, spent the first days at a house near St Brelade and then flew the short sector on to Guernsey. The Guernsey declaration was filed at the same time as the Jersey one, because the two islands keep separate customs services.
BATTLE OF FLOWERS · THE AUGUST WEEKEND
Five guests for the carnival
Birmingham - Jersey, Citation CJ3+, about 50 min · 5 pax
The handler agreed the parking weeks ahead, because summer weekends are the days when slots are coordinated, and the hotel rooms were held on the day of the booking. The return was timed for the Sunday afternoon.
JERSEY ROYALS · A FOOD WEEKEND
A group of friends in the new-potato season
Southampton - Jersey, Phenom 300E, about 35 min · 4 pax
A May weekend of lunches on the north coast and a morning at a farm shop, with the aircraft staying on the apron for two nights. The parking was priced before the booking, since the charge for a jet starts after twelve hours on the ground.
WITH THE DOG · NO PAPERS NEEDED
A couple and a labrador for the half-term break
Exeter - Jersey, Phenom 300E, about 35 min · 2 pax + dog
Because the dog travelled from Britain, Jersey asked for no certificate or vaccination. The only tasks were a vet check before the trip and a written note from us that the animal began its journey in the United Kingdom.
EMPTY LEG · THE FLEXIBLE RETURN
A flight back to London that waited for the seller
Jersey - London Luton, Citation CJ3+ empty leg, about 50 min · 3 pax
Instead of a date the client offered a two-day window, and that is what makes these deals possible. The Monday departure cost about £2,250, well under half of a fresh one-way charter on the same sector.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Jersey
1How long does it take to fly to Jersey by private jet?
About 45 minutes from Biggin Hill in a Citation CJ3+, about 40 minutes from Farnborough in a Phenom 300E and about 55 minutes from Manchester in a Citation XLS+. Jersey keeps the same time as Britain, so there is no change to the clock.
2How much does a private jet to Jersey cost?
From about £5,300 one way from Biggin Hill on a Citation CJ3+, the same from London City, Luton and Birmingham, and £5,700 from Farnborough on a Phenom 300E. A Citation XLS+ from Manchester is about £6,800 and from Edinburgh about £8,250. At this distance the minimum charge decides, which means the closest London field costs no less than a farther one.
3Which airport do private jets use in Jersey?
Jersey Airport at St Peter, with one runway of 1,706 metres and customs on site. Visiting executive aircraft of more than three tonnes are handled by Gama Aviation, which quotes its day as 7 am to 9 pm; a night curfew applies, and slot coordination is advised from May to September. Guernsey is the usual alternate.
4Do I need a passport to fly from Britain to Jersey?
Jersey is in the Common Travel Area with the United Kingdom, so there are no queued immigration controls for passengers arriving from Britain, but officers may check anyone and every passenger should carry photographic identification. Non-visa nationals need the island's own electronic travel authorisation, which also covers private aircraft; British and Irish citizens are exempt.
5What paperwork does a private aircraft need for Jersey?
The pilot submits a general declaration for the island before departure, up to seven days ahead, which goes to Jersey Customs and Immigration and to the States of Jersey Police, and a UK General Aviation Report for the British end of the flight. Goods above the allowance are declared, and the allowance for goods carried on a private aircraft is £270.
6Can I take my dog or cat on a private jet to Jersey?
Yes, from Britain. The government of Jersey lists no official health requirements for a dog, cat or ferret travelling between Jersey and the United Kingdom, and the minimum age to fly is eight weeks. XL Bully type dogs need a licence, and animals from outside the British Isles need contact with the States Veterinary Department first. We confirm the position in writing before the flight.
7Can a large jet land at Jersey?
Yes. The runway is 1,706 metres and is shared with scheduled airliners. The handler lists it as suited to most midsize and super-midsize business jets, and larger cabins and heavy jets are checked against the day's temperature, wind and weight before we confirm. Alderney, in the other Bailiwick, has a runway too short for ordinary business jets.
