Private jet charter to Faro
London to Faro is two hours and forty-five minutes, and a whole aircraft costs from 15,400 GBP one way. The airport is four kilometres from the city and a straight run of half an hour to Vilamoura and Quinta do Lago, which is why the Algarve is among the busiest leisure routes we fly out of Britain. The rule that shapes the quote is one that rarely reaches the quotation itself: an aircraft not based at Faro may not park for more than seventy-two hours, so on a fortnight in the sun the aeroplane drops you, flies home empty and comes back. Two extra sectors therefore sit inside any honest price for a stay of that length, and a figure that lacks them has simply not been finished. Our customers have access to 6500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. For 15 years of successful work, we have established partnerships with the world’s largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you the most favorable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Aircraft for this run tend to sit at Lisbon, Malaga, Farnborough and the London fields, and the sector is long enough that the choice of cabin matters more here than on a short hop. Our consultants confirm the parking arrangement at the same time as the aeroplane, because at Faro the two are not separable.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Faro depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from London Biggin Hill, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Faro?
Under three hours from the London fields, and a little over three from Scotland. These are block figures with taxi and approach counted in rather than airborne minutes. Every route below is measured to Faro itself, LPFR.
| Route | Aircraft | Flying time | Routing |
|---|---|---|---|
| London Farnborough (EGLF) - Faro (LPFR) 909 nm / 1,684 km |
Cessna Citation CJ3+ | about 2 h 45 min | Nonstop |
| London Luton (EGGW) - Faro (LPFR) 949 nm / 1,757 km |
Embraer Phenom 300E | about 2 h 50 min | Nonstop |
| Birmingham (EGBB) - Faro (LPFR) 963 nm / 1,784 km |
Cessna Citation XLS+ | about 2 h 50 min | Nonstop |
| Edinburgh (EGPH) - Faro (LPFR) 1,152 nm / 2,134 km |
Embraer Legacy 600 | about 3 h 15 min | Nonstop |
| Aberdeen (EGPD) - Faro (LPFR) 1,234 nm / 2,285 km |
Embraer Legacy 600 | about 3 h 30 min | Nonstop |
The flying itself is undemanding. Faro sits at twenty-four feet on flat coastal ground with an instrument landing system on runway 28 and no terrain worth the name. What the sector does demand is range: at nine hundred miles and upwards a light jet is working near its useful limit with six aboard and full bags, which is why the table below moves to a larger cabin sooner than a short European route would.

Prices for the private jet flights to Faro
Below are the approximate prices for recent flights from across the UK, sorted from the lowest. Each figure covers the whole aircraft one way rather than a seat. On a stay of more than three days the return leg carries the repositioning described above, and we quote it openly rather than folding it in.

Two things that move the price on this route
The first is the seventy-two hour parking limit, and it is the reason Algarve quotes differ so widely between brokers. A non-based aircraft cannot simply wait for you. On a three-night trip it can; on a fortnight it goes home and returns, and those two empty sectors are real money. The airport director can grant an exception, requested at least three days ahead, and we will ask on your behalf where the sums justify it, but we will not price a fortnight as though permission were certain.
The second is the sheer length of the leg. At nine hundred miles a larger cabin is bought with time as well as comfort, and the gap between a light jet and a midsize widens the further north you start. A repositioning flight already heading for Iberia turns up on our empty legs list at a fraction of the charter rate, and on this route they appear more often than on most.
We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Due to a large database of available business jets, we can help you find an optimal jet and crew. If you have any questions about the departure or the flight itself, you can ask them using the form below:
Private jet flights to Faro from Europe
Faro also works as a short hop within Iberia and North Africa, and a good share of the traffic here never touches Britain at all.
| Route | Aircraft | Flight time | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seville - Faro (FAO) 102 nm / 189 km |
Cessna Citation CJ2+, up to 6 passengers | about 0 h 50 min | from 4,600 GBP |
| Lisbon - Faro (FAO) 119 nm / 221 km |
Cessna Citation CJ2+, up to 6 passengers | about 0 h 55 min | from 4,900 GBP |
| Malaga - Faro (FAO) 168 nm / 311 km |
Embraer Phenom 300E, up to 8 passengers | about 1 h 00 min | from 6,300 GBP |
| Porto - Faro (FAO) 256 nm / 475 km |
Embraer Phenom 300E, up to 8 passengers | about 1 h 10 min | from 7,400 GBP |
| Madrid - Faro (FAO) 293 nm / 542 km |
Embraer Phenom 300E, up to 8 passengers | about 1 h 20 min | from 7,900 GBP |
| Marrakesh - Faro (FAO) 325 nm / 601 km |
Cessna Citation XLS+, up to 9 passengers | about 1 h 25 min | from 9,600 GBP |
| Palma - Faro (FAO) 527 nm / 975 km |
Cessna Citation XLS+, up to 9 passengers | about 1 h 50 min | from 12,400 GBP |
| Barcelona - Faro (FAO) 533 nm / 987 km |
Bombardier Challenger 350, up to 9 passengers | about 1 h 50 min | from 15,900 GBP |
| Nice - Faro (FAO) 799 nm / 1,480 km |
Bombardier Challenger 350, up to 9 passengers | about 2 h 25 min | from 19,800 GBP |
| Paris Le Bourget - Faro (FAO) 849 nm / 1,573 km |
Embraer Legacy 600, up to 13 passengers | about 2 h 35 min | from 24,600 GBP |
Two things worth knowing about these sectors
– Marrakesh leaves the European Union, so customs and immigration apply at both ends and the passenger details go in with the flight plan. Faro handles that routinely, and it adds minutes rather than difficulty;
– Portugal levies an environmental charge on unscheduled commercial flights, which applies to charter and not to a privately operated aeroplane. It is a line in the quote rather than a surprise, and we show it separately so that you can see what you are comparing.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
Hourly rates show what the aircraft itself contributes, and on a sector this long they dominate the total in a way they never do on a short hop. The list runs from the least expensive upwards, and the runway at Faro puts no ceiling on any of it.

The cost per hour indicated above is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! – the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6500 business jets of different configurations and production years, and the list is constantly updated. The five groups below are the ones that matter for an Algarve trip, and at this range the choice is driven by distance rather than by anything at the airport.
Turboprops
Listed for completeness rather than recommended. A PC-12 will reach the Algarve from southern England, but it takes the best part of four hours to do it and the saving against a light jet narrows once the extra block time is paid for.
Light jets
The entry point on this route, and the reason the table starts where it does. A CJ3+ carries seven to Faro from the London fields without a stop, though bags rather than seats become the constraint on a two-week family holiday.
Midsize
The most quoted band for the Algarve. Nine seats, a stand-up cabin, a lavatory that matters on a sector of this length, and hold volume for golf bags, which on this route is very often the deciding factor.

Super-midsize and heavy
Where the northern departures land. From Scotland, Belfast or the north east the sector runs past eleven hundred miles, and a cabin of this size buys both the range and the hours back. Thirteen seats travel as one party rather than two aircraft.
Ultra-long range
Rarely needed for the Algarve itself and often used to reach it, because Faro is a natural first stop on a transatlantic itinerary. The runway and the apron take these without difficulty; only the parking clock applies as it does to everything else.
This is only a small part of the fleet open to us. Up to a heavy cabin the choice here comes down to your party and your budget; above that it comes down to the performance figures for your particular day, which we settle first.

Business aviation airports in Faro
Faro has a full international airport of its own, four kilometres from the city and within half an hour of most of the central Algarve. The panel sets out the facts, and the note underneath covers the one rule that changes how a holiday is priced.
Seventy-two hours, and why it decides the shape of your quote
Faro handles over ten million passengers a year through a single runway and a finite apron, and it protects that apron with a rule stated plainly in the Portuguese aeronautical publication: an aircraft not based at the airport may not park for more than seventy-two hours. Three nights is fine. A fortnight is not. The aeroplane therefore leaves after dropping you and returns at the end of the holiday, so four sectors are flown and only two are occupied.
An exception can be granted by the airport director if it is coordinated at least seventy-two hours before the operation. We will ask where the arithmetic justifies it. What we will not do is quote a two-week stay as though the aeroplane could simply sit there, because that is the difference you are seeing when one Algarve quote comes in thousands below another.

The other fields in range, and what each is genuinely for:
| Field | What it takes and when it suits |
|---|---|
| Lisbon LIS / LPPT, 119 nm |
The largest business aviation market in Portugal, with the deepest choice of aircraft at short notice and a dedicated general aviation terminal. Two and a half hours by road, so it wins when the trip takes in the capital |
| Seville SVQ / LEZL, 102 nm |
Closest by air, across the Guadiana in Spain. A long runway and full handling, and worth checking on a long stay where the aircraft has to wait somewhere. Around two and a half hours by road to the central Algarve |
| Portimao LPPM, in the western Algarve |
A short municipal aerodrome close to Lagos. It serves light aircraft, flying schools and air taxi work rather than charter jets |
| Beja LPBJ, in the Alentejo |
A very long runway on a former air base, used for maintenance and the occasional diversion. Little passenger handling and an hour and a half inland |
| Jerez and Malaga XRY and AGP, further into Andalusia |
Both well equipped and both a long way east. Relevant only when the itinerary combines the Algarve with southern Spain |
Three practical points
– Handling cannot be self-arranged here. Every business aviation movement is assisted by an appointed agent, which simplifies the arrangement and also means the figure you are quoted is the figure there is;
– Prior permission is needed two hours before an arrival or a departure. That is short enough to be invisible on a planned trip and long enough to matter if a party decides to leave early on the morning;
– Business aviation passengers are exempt from the terminal capacity limits that constrain the main building in August. On the busiest weekend of the Algarve summer that exemption is worth more than most of what a private flight otherwise buys.
Business aviation passengers are handled away from the main concourse, and half an hour before departure is ample. What our consultants settle against your date is the agent, the stand and, on an outbound flight, the customs arrangement.
From the apron to the coast
The A22 motorway runs the length of the Algarve a few minutes north of the airport, which makes ground transfers here quick and unusually predictable. The figures below are clear-road times.
four kilometres east, past the Ria Formosaabout 10 minutes
west along the coast, for the golfabout 25 minutes
the marina and the courses behind itabout 30 minutes
further west on the A22about 35 minutes
east towards the Spanish border, the quieter halfabout 35 minutes
the central western Algarveabout 45 minutes
the far west, beyond Portimaoabout 1 h 00 min
the south western corner of Europeabout 1 h 20 min
Which airport actually shortens your day
For the whole of the Algarve from Tavira to Lagos, Faro is the obvious arrival and nothing else comes close: the motorway runs east to west behind the coast and the airport sits in the middle of it. Lisbon and Seville are each two and a half hours away by road, which makes them fallbacks rather than alternatives. The one case for looking at Seville deliberately is a long stay where you want the aircraft close by, and there we check what each airport will allow before quoting either. Tell us the resort and the length of the trip and we will price both where it is worth doing.
Helicopter transfers along the Algarve
Rotary work along this coast is straightforward, with flat ground, reliable weather and pads at several of the larger resorts and golf estates. The times below are flying minutes and are worth reading against road figures that are already good.
When the rotary leg earns its cost
Honestly, not often. The A22 is a fast and empty motorway, the coast is only a hundred and fifty kilometres from end to end, and a car reaches most of it inside the hour. A helicopter saves twenty or thirty minutes at considerable expense, and we say so rather than sell it.
Two cases stand up. The first is a golf itinerary taking in courses at both ends of the coast in one day. The second is the western cape beyond Sagres, where the roads narrow and the hour becomes two. Landing away from a licensed pad is agreed with the estate beforehand.
Flying to Faro with a dog or a cat
Portugal is undemanding about a visiting dog and Britain is rather less so about one coming home. Neither half is complicated. What makes the Algarve different from a weekend in France is that people come here for a fortnight and often come back three times a year, and the paperwork does not work that way.
One certificate, one journey, and what that means for regulars
The document a British resident now travels on is signed by an official veterinarian and covers a single outward journey, dated inside the ten days before departure. It cannot be stockpiled and it cannot be reused. A family with a house near Vilamoura who fly out at Easter, in July and again in October therefore need three of them, each arranged afresh in the ten days before the flight. That is the commonest surprise on this route, and the only defence against it is to treat the veterinary appointment as part of booking the trip rather than as an afterthought.
What Portugal asks for on the way in:
- An identifying chip to the usual international standard, implanted and readable before the rabies injection is given. In the reverse order the injection counts for nothing;
- Rabies protection with three clear weeks behind it, from twelve weeks of age upwards. A renewal inside the validity of the previous course is effective immediately;
- The certificate itself, signed within ten days of the outward flight and issued in English alongside Portuguese;
- Nothing at all on arrival. Portugal asks for no worming or tick treatment at the border, which catches out owners whose last trip was to Ireland or Finland;
- For the journey home, a praziquantel dose given by a Portuguese vet between one and five days before you land in Britain, with the hour entered on the certificate. Dogs only.
Cats and ferrets are outside the worming requirement in both directions and need only the chip, the injection and the certificate. Five animals per party is the ceiling unless you are travelling to a recognised show, which on an Algarve holiday applies to nobody.
Three hours is a long flight for a nervous animal, and the absence of a hold, a crate and any separation from you makes far more difference here than it would on a forty-minute hop. The wider rules sit on our travel with pets page. On this route the item that governs your dates is the certificate, and for anyone travelling out more than once a year it governs them repeatedly.
The Algarve season
The Algarve has the longest season in southern Europe and a genuine winter economy behind it, which makes its calendar unlike anywhere else we fly to.
When the coast is busy, and what it means for a booking
– July and August, when the whole of northern Europe arrives at once. Aircraft, parking and villas are committed months ahead, and the seventy-two hour rule bites hardest precisely when everyone wants a fortnight;
– Easter and the late May half term, which produce the same effect over a shorter span and catch families who assumed only the summer mattered;
– The golf months of March, April, October and November, when the courses around Vilamoura and Quinta do Lago fill with British parties and midweek departures tighten;
– December through February, when the coast is quiet, the light is extraordinary and prices fall away. The Algarve is one of the few places in Europe where a winter booking is a pleasure rather than a compromise.
Types of flights
Our company provides all types of business flights. Due to a wide variety of jets, we can arrange:
- private flights;
- corporate flights;
- business class flights;
- concert tours;
- medical flights (with doctors and special equipment on board);
- tourist flights for large and small groups;
- sports charters for teams and coaching staff;
- combined flights (partly by business jet, and partly by helicopter);
- exclusive flights on luxury jets for businessmen, celebrities, and politicians;
- cargo flights, etc.
A flexible approach and a wide experience allow us to solve problems of any complexity. In 90% of cases, we manage to arrange urgent flights (on the day of application). That holds comfortably outside the summer, when the apron is quiet and two hours of notice is all the airport asks. July and August are another matter, and so is any stay past three nights, where the parking arrangement has to be settled before a price means anything. A dog aboard adds its own ten day certificate window on top.

Empty Legs
Another way to fly cheaper is to use Empty Legs. This service allows you to save on regular charter rates. As you know, part of the flights is one-way. The Algarve produces an unusual number of them, because the parking limit sends aircraft home empty after almost every drop and brings them back empty a fortnight later. Such flight is called “Empty Legs”. Empty leg flights can be as cheap as 50-75% off the standard charter price. This option is profitable for both the passengers and the charter companies. The clients can enjoy the services of business aviation at a very good price, while the airlines recoup part of the cost of fuel and jet maintenance.
It is almost impossible to find Empty Leg flights, as the information about them is stored in special databases available only to the aviation brokers and specialized companies. You should know that Empty Leg flights offer the same service as private jet charters. The passengers enjoy a 100% private jet flying experience. Services and flight conditions are discussed individually. We should note that our company cooperates with the world’s largest home bases, so we can offer our clients a wide choice of return flights. Just send a request to our manager who will help you find the best flight options. Please note that Empty Leg flights are sold out very quickly. To avoid such a problem, you can leave us a deposit, and we will contact you as soon as the flight of your choice becomes available. For additional information, check with the operators.

Jet Sharing
Today, Jet Sharing is just as popular as private jet charter. This service involves the joint rental of a business jet with other passengers (that is, the cost of the flight is divided equally between all passengers of a specific flight). This type of flight has become especially popular in the last few years. Many people like Jet Sharing because it allows you to enjoy all benefits of business aviation at favorable prices.
We should note that the number of passengers per Jet Sharing flight varies from 3 to 8, while the cost of the flight ranges from 1200 to 6000 pounds (depending on the destination). This way, you can get a comfortable flight on a business jet (and maybe even meet new business partners) at a very good price. You can check out the schedule of Jet Sharing flights by filling in the online form or contacting our operators by phone or WhatsApp.
Main advantages of this service:
- All privileges of business aviation, including the use of the business aviation terminal and the check-in 30 minutes before the flight, are retained;
- You can also use the services of the VIP Lounge (included in the price of the flight);
- No baggage restrictions;
- Affordable price: jet sharing is much cheaper than private jet charter;
- Pets can be carried directly in the aircraft cabin.
Our consultants will be happy to help you choose the best flight.

Helicopter charter
Private Jets UK clients have access to a rotary fleet across southern Portugal. Machines are normally boarded on the apron alongside the jet. Where a particular type is based elsewhere on the coast we bring it in to meet you.
The types that suit this region, and the job each one does:
- Airbus H125, four passengers with luggage, the least costly way off the ramp and enough for a hop along the coast to a villa or a golf estate;
- Airbus H130, up to six seats, a quieter cabin on the same single-engine platform and the usual answer for a family;
- Airbus H135, six seats, a light twin that keeps its performance in poorer conditions and the type we choose for a movement late in the day;
- Agusta AW109, six seats, faster again and the choice for a day taking in two or three courses at opposite ends of the Algarve.
Availability turns week by week, and the August weekends commit furthest ahead. Please contact our aviation consultants for the current position on a particular model and date.

All payment details are provided in advance, so you’ll have enough time to make the necessary checks. For years of working in business aviation, our company has gained an impeccable reputation. We practice transparency and are always ready to present all necessary documents.

Faro charters we have flown: six trips from the booking notes
These come from our own files, with surnames reduced to initials and details altered so that no client is identifiable. Each turned on something particular to Faro rather than to charter in general.
QUOTE · THE MISSING SECTORS
Mr N. H.: why a fortnight costs more than two long weekends
London Farnborough to Faro, Citation CJ3+, 2 h 45 min · 6 passengers
He held a quote several thousand pounds below ours and wanted the difference explained. It was the repositioning. Faro will not let a visiting aircraft sit for fourteen nights, so ours priced four sectors and the other priced two. The rival would have come back for the balance later. We showed both sets of legs on one page and he booked the number that was already complete.
PARKING · EXCEPTION GRANTED
A family with a house at Quinta do Lago: five nights, one aeroplane
London Luton to Faro, Phenom 300E, 2 h 50 min · 7 passengers
Five nights sits just past the limit, which made it worth asking rather than assuming. The request went to the airport director more than three days ahead, as the rules require, and the aircraft was allowed to remain. Two empty sectors came out of the total. It does not always succeed and we never promise it, but on a marginal stay it is the first question we put.
GOLF · BAGS BEFORE SEATS
A Surrey society: eight players and eight sets of clubs
London Biggin Hill to Faro, Citation XLS+, 2 h 45 min · 8 passengers
They had been quoted a light jet and the seats did indeed fit. The clubs did not. On a route where almost every party carries golf bags, hold volume rather than cabin length is what decides the aircraft, and it is the commonest correction we make on an Algarve enquiry. The midsize cost more per hour and less per player.
DOG · THIRD TRIP OF THE YEAR
Mrs R. P.: a certificate she had already paid for twice
Bristol to Faro, Phenom 300E, 2 h 40 min · 4 passengers and a retriever
She flies out to the western Algarve three times a year and had assumed the paperwork issued in April would still serve in October. It covers one outward journey and is dated within ten days of it, so each trip needs its own. We now diarise the veterinary appointment with her booking, which costs nothing and removes the problem entirely.
SUMMER · TERMINAL EXEMPTION
A Manchester group: the August Saturday that worked
Manchester to Faro, Citation XLS+, 2 h 55 min · 9 passengers
Peak Algarve changeover, with the main terminal at its limit and queues to match. Business aviation passengers are excluded from those capacity restrictions, so the party came off the aircraft at a separate stand and were in a car within a quarter of an hour. On that particular weekend the exemption was worth more than the flying time saved.
NORTHERN DEPARTURE · RANGE
An Aberdeen party: twelve hundred miles and thirteen seats
Aberdeen to Faro, Legacy 600, 3 h 30 min · 12 passengers
From the north east the sector runs past twelve hundred nautical miles, which puts it beyond comfortable light jet territory with a full load and luggage. A heavy cabin carried the whole party nonstop in three and a half hours. Split across two smaller aircraft it would have cost more and arrived in two pieces.
Faro and the Algarve: destination overview
Faro is the working capital of the Algarve rather than its showpiece, which is why many visitors drive straight past it and rather fewer should. Some sixty thousand people live in the city, the old town inside the walls is genuinely handsome, and the Ria Formosa lagoon that separates it from the sea is a national park of sandbanks and islands reachable only by boat. Everything the Algarve is famous for lies within an hour of the runway in either direction.
Where to stay
Almost nobody stays in Faro itself, and the choice divides by coast. West of the airport are the golf estates: Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo first, then Vilamoura with its marina, then Albufeira, Carvoeiro and finally Lagos, where the cliffs begin in earnest. East of the airport is quieter and less built, with Tavira the prettiest town on the coast and the sandbank islands offshore. For seclusion the answer is the far west beyond Sagres, where the Atlantic takes over from the Mediterranean climate and the beaches empty.
What to do
Golf is the reason a great many British visitors come, and the concentration around Vilamoura and Quinta do Lago is among the densest in Europe. The Ria Formosa is the counterweight: a boat out to Culatra or Armona takes half an hour and lands you somewhere with no cars at all. West of Lagos the coast turns dramatic through Praia da Luz to Sagres, where the cape marks the south western corner of Europe.
When it is busy
July and August fill everything, and the Algarve in high summer is a different place from the Algarve in May. Easter and the late spring half term are busy in miniature. The golf seasons in spring and autumn are the connoisseur's choice, and winter on this coast is mild, empty and startlingly cheap.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Faro
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Faro?
About 2 hours 45 from Farnborough or Biggin Hill and 2 hours 50 from Luton, over a distance of 909 to 949 nautical miles. Allow around 2 hours 40 from Bristol or Cardiff, close to 2 hours 55 from Manchester, and 3 hours 15 to 3 hours 30 from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Aberdeen. These are block times with taxi and approach included.
2How much does a private jet to Faro cost?
From about 15,400 GBP one way on a light jet out of Farnborough and 15,700 GBP from Biggin Hill. Cardiff runs around 16,400 GBP and London Luton 17,400 GBP on an eight-seat Phenom, Birmingham about 19,200 GBP and Manchester 20,000 GBP on a nine-seat Citation XLS+, and Edinburgh 30,100 GBP on a thirteen-seat Legacy 600. Those cover the whole aircraft one way rather than a seat.
3Why do Algarve quotes vary so much between brokers?
Almost always because of the parking rule. An aircraft not based at Faro may not remain for more than seventy-two hours, so on any stay longer than three nights it has to fly home empty and return for you. That is four sectors rather than two. A quote that shows only the outward and homeward legs has left the repositioning out, and it will reappear later. Ask any broker to show you the sectors before you compare the totals.
4Can the aircraft wait at Faro for a two-week holiday?
Not as of right. The airport director can grant an exception, and the request has to be coordinated at least seventy-two hours before the operation, with larger aircraft going through the airport operations service. We put the request in whenever the sums justify it, and a stay of four or five nights is the case that most often stands a chance. A full fortnight in August rarely does, and we price accordingly rather than hopefully.
5Do British passport holders need a visa for Portugal?
No. A British passport allows visa-free travel for short stays of up to ninety days in any one hundred and eighty. Portugal is inside Schengen and the United Kingdom is not, so the flight crosses an external frontier and the arrival is recorded electronically under the EU entry and exit system. On a private arrival that is completed away from the main terminal, and business aviation passengers sit outside the terminal capacity limits entirely.
