Private jet charter in Suriname
Suriname is the smallest independent country on the South American mainland, a Dutch-speaking nation of rainforest and river that sits roughly 4,004 nautical miles from a London airfield. A Challenger-class charter gets there with one hour on the ground in the Azores. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. For Suriname that means a landing permit, a handler at Johan Adolf Pengel International, and a car for the 45 kilometres into Paramaribo.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Suriname depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from London Farnborough, a Challenger 605 to Paramaribo Johan Adolf Pengel International with one technical stop in the Azores, and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Suriname?
Suriname keeps UTC-3 all year, so Paramaribo is three hours behind Britain in winter and four while British Summer Time runs. A Challenger 605 is published at about 3,995 nautical miles, and Farnborough to Paramaribo measures 4,004, a few miles beyond it, so the working plan is two sectors with a short stop. These times are westbound, against the usual headwind, gate to gate:
1,400 nautical miles, the technical stop on the way outabout 3 h 25 min
2,608 nautical miles over open Atlantic to Johan Adolf Pengel Internationalabout 6 h 15 min
4,008 nautical miles in two legs, with about an hour on the ground for fuelabout 10 h 40 min
4,004 nautical miles in one sector, with a larger cabin and a margin for the headwindabout 8 h 35 min
Landing after lunch, home by breakfast
A take-off from Farnborough at 07:00 reaches Paramaribo at about 13:40 local time in summer and 14:40 in winter, which leaves the afternoon for a meeting and keeps the drive from the airport in daylight. Leave Paramaribo at 17:00, sleep on board, and the aircraft is back in Britain at about 07:15 the next morning in summer and 06:15 in winter, stop included.
Nearly ten hours in the air plus the stop make a long duty day, so the operator may add a third crew member for the crossing.
The Azores stop adds only 4 nautical miles to the direct line, so what it costs is time, not distance. The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

Two things worth knowing about these figures
– Range picks the aircraft. The Challenger 605 stops at Santa Maria, 1,400 nautical miles from Farnborough, and flies the remaining 2,608 to Paramaribo. The Global 6000 and the G550, published at 6,000 and 6,750 nautical miles, cross in one sector with a margin of 1,996 and 2,746 over the direct 4,004. A Global 6000 from Farnborough costs about £28,500 more than the Challenger line, and that difference is the price of skipping the stop;
– Southampton, Bristol and Cardiff sit nearer the Atlantic and come out between £600 and £1,550 below the Farnborough figure on the same aircraft, and we quote them on request. Every price is for the trip out, and the return is quoted separately unless an empty leg fits.
Private jet flights within Suriname and to its neighbours
Most of Suriname is forest with almost no roads, and the coast holds the people. From Paramaribo the western rice district around Nieuw Nickerie is 119 nautical miles away, the airstrip for the Central Suriname Nature Reserve is 78, and Georgetown in Guyana is 201. Inside the country the flying is done by turboprops and helicopters. These are the sectors we are asked for, together with the neighbouring capitals that clients add to a Suriname trip:
| Route | Aircraft | Flight time | Price, one way |
|---|---|---|---|
| Paramaribo - Raleigh airstrip (Central Suriname Nature Reserve) 78 nm / 144 km |
Pilatus PC-12 NGX up to 9 |
about 45 min | from £3,100 |
| Paramaribo - Nieuw Nickerie (Major Henk Fernandes) 119 nm / 220 km |
Pilatus PC-12 NGX up to 9 |
about 55 min | from £3,100 |
| Paramaribo - Cayenne (Felix Eboue, French Guiana) 180 nm / 333 km |
Citation XLS+ up to 9 |
about 55 min | from £6,800 |
| Paramaribo - Georgetown (Cheddi Jagan, Guyana) 201 nm / 372 km |
Citation XLS+ up to 9 |
about 1 h | from £6,800 |
| Paramaribo - Port of Spain (Trinidad) 498 nm / 922 km |
Citation XLS+ up to 9 |
about 1 h 40 min | from £9,350 |
| Paramaribo - Curacao (Hato) 948 nm / 1,756 km |
Citation XLS+ up to 9 |
about 2 h 40 min | from £15,850 |
Two limits on the onward sectors
– Runway, not distance, sets the aircraft. Nieuw Nickerie is listed with a 700-metre asphalt runway and the Raleigh strip with 500 metres of grass, so a turboprop is the only sensible choice there, and the operator confirms in writing that the surface can take it and who meets the aircraft;
– Customs is cleared on arrival at Pengel, and the internal legs are flown as domestic sectors afterwards. Georgetown, Cayenne, Port of Spain and Curacao follow the rule of any foreign trip: a permit for every country on the route and clearance at an airport of entry.
We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Due to a large database of available business jets, we can help you find an optimal jet and crew. If you have any questions about the departure or the flight itself, you can ask them using the form below:
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Suriname:
Ultra-long range
The classes that cross from Britain in one sector. The Global 6000 and the G550 are the working choices, the G650ER adds cabin and margin, and the Global 7500 has the longest published range.
Heavy jets
Large cabins that need the Azores stop on the way out. The Challenger 605 is the aircraft we price the crossing on.
Super-midsize
The class behind most onward legs from Paramaribo to Georgetown, Cayenne, Port of Spain or Curacao.
Light jets
For short hops along the coast, where the long runway at Pengel is more than they need.
Turboprops
The aircraft for the short strips at Nieuw Nickerie and in the interior. Not for the journey from London, which at turboprop speed would take several days of stops.

Business aviation airports in Suriname
One airport matters to a foreign business jet, and three small ones matter to a turboprop or a helicopter. Runway, hours and customs count for more than the size of the terminal:
| Airport | Ground | How it operates |
|---|---|---|
| Paramaribo Johan Adolf Pengel International PBM / SMJP |
about 45 km south of Paramaribo, at Zanderij | The airport for every business jet and the only one with customs. A single asphalt runway, 11/29, at about 3,480 metres, which is long enough for anything we would send, and about 18 metres above sea level. Listed as open round the clock with the tower on duty round the clock, an airport of entry with customs, fire category 9, and ILS and VOR/DME approaches. Slots are listed as not required, but handling is listed as mandatory, so a handler is booked for every landing. Surair Ground Services is the FBO and handler listed, and Jet A-1 is the fuel we plan on, with SOL and World Fuel listed as brands. |
| Paramaribo Eduard Alexander Gummels EAX / SMEG |
Kwatta, on the northern edge of Paramaribo | A small asphalt airfield of about 1,200 metres, 05/29, built mainly for helicopters and the offshore energy sector, with something like 800 helicopter movements a year listed. It is the quickest landing point for a city meeting, but the runway sets the limit at light jets and turboprops, and customs is not listed here, so a party arriving from abroad still enters at Pengel. |
| Paramaribo Zorg en Hoop ORG / SMZO |
inside the city, about 3 km west of the Suriname river | The old city airport, with a 750-metre asphalt runway, of which 200 metres is a displaced threshold on runway 11. The interior charter operators fly from here, and we use it for the onward leg, not for a jet from Britain. |
| Nieuw Nickerie Major Henk Fernandes ICK / SMNI |
near Nieuw Nickerie, in the rice district of the far west | An asphalt runway, 08/26, of about 700 metres at about 3 metres above sea level. Charter turboprops reach it from Zorg en Hoop, and the operator confirms the surface, fuel and transport before departure. |
Four points settle most Suriname trips before a quote goes out:
The permit
The published guidance for private and charter aircraft, an older text that we check with the authority for every booking, says that the flight plan serves as the advance notice and must reach the authorities at least two hours before arrival, and that the General Declaration and the passenger manifest travel with the aircraft in several copies. A permit agent lists the civil aviation office as open from 11:00 to 16:00 UTC, which is 08:00 to 13:00 in Paramaribo, so a request sent late in the Surinamese day waits until the next. We plan on a longer lead than the minimum.
Hours
Pengel is listed as open round the clock, and customs and immigration are listed the same way, so a night arrival from a long crossing is possible. We still tell the handler the exact arrival time, because officers are called out against it.
Handling and fuel
Handling is listed as mandatory. The handler meets the aircraft, arranges the officers, the fuel and the transfer, and sends the General Declaration forms to the right desks. Only Jet A-1 is listed in the older guidance, and the uplift for the way home is confirmed before the aircraft leaves Britain.
The last forty-five kilometres
The FCDO warns about road hazards and night driving near cyclists, pedestrians and animals. The handler arranges a licensed car, and the arrival is timed for daylight.
Arriving from Britain: passports, customs and what to carry
Suriname is outside the European Union and the Schengen area. A British citizen can visit without a visa for tourism, but the entry fee and the form come first, and both are settled before the aircraft leaves. Immigration and customs are cleared at an airport of entry, which for a private jet means Pengel.
The passport must be valid for at least six months after the day of arrival, and a document reported lost or stolen is refusedevery passenger, children included
A tourist visit is allowed for up to 90 days without a visa. Stays for work, study or business need a visa, and many of our trips are boardroom days, so we confirm the category for your purpose with the Surinamese authorities before the flightcheck the purpose of the visit
The FCDO says the fee is 54 US dollars per traveller and is paid before travel. We send the details to every passenger together with the flight planpaid in advance
Every traveller completes it up to three days before arrival and again before departureone for each leg
A yellow fever certificate is required of travellers arriving from a country on the transmission-risk list, which matters if the jet positions through one. The NHS TravelHealthPro guide for Suriname covers vaccines, malaria and denguecheck before you fly
The rules on goods entering and leaving are strict, and anything that may be prohibited or dutiable must be declared. Pounds cannot be exchanged in Suriname, so carry US dollarsdeclared at the desk
The way home
Coming home is a flight into Britain. A General Aviation Report goes to the border authorities not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departure, British and Irish citizens need no electronic travel authorisation, and most other nationalities do. A dual national travelling on a foreign passport should carry a valid British passport or a certificate of entitlement.
The older guidance for visiting aircraft also mentions a certificate of residual disinsection, and the handler tells the crew which forms the officers expect on the day.

Which airport for which part of Suriname
The arrival airport follows from one address: the office in Paramaribo, the lodge on the Coppename river, the rice farm in the west. These are the usual pairings:
The capital stands on the Suriname river, about 15 kilometres from the Atlantic, with roughly a quarter of a million inhabitants and nearly half the population of the country in its area.Pengel, then a car
The offshore blocks lie in the Atlantic, and the helicopters that serve the industry fly from Gummels on the edge of the city. The executives who come to meet the crews arrive by jet at Pengel and cross the cityPengel, then Gummels
A protected area of rainforest on the Coppename river with the Raleigh Falls and the Voltzberg. The airstrip is on an island in the river and is served by charter aircraft from Zorg en HoopZorg en Hoop, then a turboprop
Nieuw Nickerie, the rice and banana district on the Guyana border, has a short asphalt runway and a road to Paramaribo that takes much longer than the flightZorg en Hoop, then Nickerie
Paramaribo, gold and the oil coast: what our clients go for
Gold is the largest export of Suriname, and the national oil company Staatsolie is the other pillar of the economy. The exploration blocks offshore are drawing interest from the big international operators: in Block 58, about 150 kilometres off the coast, the GranMorgu project is held by TotalEnergies and APA Corporation with 40 percent each, and Staatsolie with 20, and it is planned for a capacity of 220,000 barrels a day. A mining house, an engineering firm or a bank from London will have reason to be in Paramaribo for a few days, and these short boardroom trips are the core of our traffic.
The old centre of Paramaribo is a World Heritage Site, a Dutch colonial town of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries on the left bank of the river with its street plan largely intact. Fort Zeelandia, the Presidential Palace, the cathedral of St Peter and St Paul and the Palm Garden behind the palace are all within a short walk. The Keizerstraat mosque and the Neveh Shalom synagogue stand side by side. The FCDO names the Palm Garden among the quiet places where visitors are more at risk, so guests go there by daylight, with a driver.
About 90 percent of the country is rainforest, the second-highest share in the world. The Central Suriname Nature Reserve is a World Heritage Site, and the Brownsberg Nature Park looks out over the Brokopondo Reservoir, one of the largest man-made lakes in the world. The FCDO advises using a well-established tour company because tourists have been robbed when travelling in central Suriname away from the coast.
The population is among the most mixed anywhere. Asian Surinamese make up about 43 percent, Afro-Surinamese 37, people of mixed origin 13 and indigenous people about 4. Dutch is the sole official language, Sranan Tongo the common one, and English is widely spoken. Traffic drives on the left, as in Guyana.
The Surinamese year: two wet seasons, two dry ones
Paramaribo is hot all year, with average highs of about 30 degrees and lows near 24, and no tropical cyclones. Two wet seasons and two dry ones follow each other:
the long rainy season, with the heaviest rain from April to July. Interior tracks turn to mud and the rivers risewet season
the main dry season, with September to November the driest period in the capital and late September the hottest, when highs reach about 33 degreesbest weather
the short rainy season, lighter than the long onesecond wet spell
a short dry season, which is also when leatherback turtles nest on the coastdry spell
Wildlife and the weather
Late August to October is the usual advice for the interior, when the trails are drier and the views from Brownsberg are clearest, while the leatherback nesting on the coast at Galibi runs roughly from February to May.
The Surinamese calendar: Phagwa, Keti Koti and Independence Day
Most of the dated events are public holidays, and several of them come from the communities that make up the country. All of them lift the demand for rooms and cars in Paramaribo:
Why holiday weeks need early booking
The civil aviation office, the customs and the handler all work shorter days around a public holiday. A request for a landing permit in a week with a holiday should go to the operator as soon as the dates are fixed.

Flying to Suriname with a dog or a cat
A cat or a dog can enter Suriname with its owner if the permit is in place, and the order of paperwork matters more than the flight. An importer needs a veterinary import permit from the Veterinary Inspection of Suriname, applied for in writing before departure, and the Head of the Veterinary Service must be told the time and place of import at least 48 hours before arrival. For a private flight we confirm the entry airport, the inspection on arrival and the paperwork in writing.
The one fact to read before you book
The Surinamese cat requirements are published by the government in Dutch and English. They ask for a health certificate in Dutch or English from the competent veterinary authority, a clinical examination within seven days before export, a broad-spectrum worming treatment and a treatment against external parasites in the same seven days, and a rabies vaccination according to the vaccine maker's instructions. A cat arriving from a country that is not rabies-free also needs an antibody titre test of at least 0.5 IU/ml taken between three and twelve months before shipment.
A cat is kept apart from other animals for at least two weeks after arrival. For dogs, one published summary lists a health certificate within seven days of travel and a rabies vaccination between 21 days and 12 months before entry, but the Surinamese text for dogs is not the one we could read, so we confirm the dog rules with the Veterinary Service for every booking.
The way home is the harder half. Suriname is not a listed country, so the animal returns on a Great Britain pet health certificate after a rabies blood test taken at least 30 days after the vaccination, at an approved laboratory, with a result of at least 0.5 IU/ml. The animal may not travel until three months after the sample date. A dog also needs tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 hours and 5 days before landing.
- A microchip fitted before the rabies vaccination, and at least 21 full days between the vaccination and the flight home;
- A Great Britain pet health certificate for the return, with the blood sample date recorded on it;
- No more than five animals per traveller, and an animal arriving more than five days before or after its owner falls under separate rules.
The three-month count is the point: a weekend in Paramaribo with a pet works only if the blood sample was taken at least three months before the return, so we build the timetable backwards from the landing in Britain. If the rules are not met, the pet can be placed in quarantine for up to four months.

Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. On the Suriname run there are few, because few aircraft make the crossing, but each is a long sector.
Where Suriname empty legs come from
– A long-range jet that flew a party out to Paramaribo and returns to Britain without passengers, which is the commonest leg and the one most often offered;
– A jet repositioning to Paramaribo for a booking that starts there, which turns the outbound crossing into a bargain for anyone who can leave on the operator's date;
A client who can offer a window of several weeks has a far better chance of a match, though the operator owns the date. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page. A selection of Suriname empty legs follows:
| Route | Aircraft | Capacity | Whole aircraft |
|---|---|---|---|
| Suriname (Paramaribo PBM) - UK (London Farnborough) | Challenger 605 | 12 seats | £33,850 |
| Suriname (Paramaribo PBM) - UK (Birmingham) | Challenger 605 | 12 seats | £33,900 |
| UK (London Biggin Hill) - Suriname (Paramaribo PBM) | Challenger 605 | 12 seats | £34,050 |
| UK (London Luton) - Suriname (Paramaribo PBM) | Challenger 605 | 12 seats | £34,100 |
| UK (London Stansted) - Suriname (Paramaribo PBM) | Challenger 605 | 12 seats | £34,250 |
| UK (London Gatwick) - Suriname (Paramaribo PBM) | Global 6000 | 13 seats | £46,000 |
How to read those figures
– Each price is for the whole aircraft rather than per seat. A Challenger 605 home from Paramaribo to Farnborough with twelve seats comes to about £2,800 a head;
– Set each line beside the same sector in the first table. The saving is large, and a month of flexibility is the minimum worth offering on this route.

Helicopter charter
Helicopter flying in Suriname is built around the offshore energy sector. Gummels, on the northern edge of Paramaribo, is the helicopter airfield, and Hi-Jet Helicopter Services is among the operators listed on the charter routes to the interior. Machines that work for the oil industry are not free for passengers on demand, so a passenger helicopter is a separate booking. We arrange it case by case and publish no standing price list. The transfers clients ask about:
in the Central Suriname Nature Reserve, a straight-line distance of 95 nautical milesabout 1 h
The times are straight-line estimates at a cruise of about 115 knots, and the operator confirms the type, the route and the landing site for your date. A private landing site in a protected area is never assumed.

Flights from the UK to Suriname

Surinamese charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
Six typical jobs put together from booking notes with the particulars changed, so none describes one named client or date.
PARAMARIBO · THE MINING BRIEFING
Three executives and two days of meetings
Farnborough - Paramaribo, Challenger 605 via the Azores, about 10 h 40 min · 3 pax
Wheels up at seven, an hour at Santa Maria, and on the ramp at Pengel in the early afternoon on the local clock. The aircraft waited at Zanderij for the two days.
RALEIGH · THE RAINFOREST
Four guests and a night on the Coppename
Paramaribo - Raleigh, Pilatus PC-12 NGX, about 45 min each way · 4 pax
After a night in the capital the party took a turboprop from Zorg en Hoop to the strip on the river island, walked to the falls with a guide, and came back the next afternoon.
NIEUW NICKERIE · THE RICE ESTATE
A buyer and two advisers in the west
Paramaribo - Nieuw Nickerie, Pilatus PC-12 NGX, about 55 min each way · 3 pax
A day trip that would have taken a long drive on the coastal road. The operator confirmed the 700-metre runway and the ground transport in writing before the booking.
CAYENNE · THE NEIGHBOUR
Two directors and a meeting in French Guiana
Paramaribo - Cayenne, Citation XLS+, about 55 min each way · 2 pax
The party cleared customs at Pengel and flew on to Cayenne the next morning, with both permits requested together.
NON-STOP · THE LARGER PARTY
Eight guests and one sector from Gatwick
London Gatwick - Paramaribo, Global 6000, about 8 h 40 min · 8 pax
The client wanted no stop and a bigger cabin, so the operator proposed a Global 6000. The quote was higher than the Challenger line, and the party chose the saving in time.

Frequently asked questions about flying to Suriname
1How long does it take to fly to Suriname by private jet?
About 10 hours 40 minutes from London Farnborough to Paramaribo on a Challenger 605 with one stop in the Azores, or about 8 hours 35 minutes non-stop on a Global 6000. Suriname is three or four hours behind Britain, depending on the season.
2How much does a private jet to Suriname cost?
From about £80,550 one way from Farnborough to Paramaribo on a Challenger 605 with a stop in the Azores. A non-stop Global 6000 from Farnborough is about £109,050. Onward legs are far lower, with Paramaribo to Georgetown from £6,800 on a Citation XLS+.
3Which airport should a private jet use in Suriname?
Johan Adolf Pengel International, known as Zanderij, for almost every trip: it is listed as open round the clock, with customs and a runway of about 3,480 metres. It lies about 45 kilometres south of Paramaribo. The city airfields at Gummels and Zorg en Hoop have short runways and suit helicopters and turboprops.
4Can a private jet fly non-stop from London to Suriname?
Yes, on an ultra-long-range jet. Farnborough to Paramaribo is about 4,004 nautical miles, which a Global 6000 or a Gulfstream G550 flies in one sector. A Challenger 605 stops in the Azores.
5What paperwork does a private flight to Suriname need?
British citizens can visit for tourism without a visa for up to 90 days, while a business visit needs a visa. The passport must be valid for at least six months after arrival, a 54 US dollar entry fee is paid before travel, and an Immigration and Customs Form is completed up to three days before arrival. The operator also arranges the landing permit and the handler, and we plan on more than the two hours of flight-plan notice listed in the older guidance.
6Can I take my dog or cat on a private jet to Suriname?
Yes, with a veterinary import permit from the Veterinary Inspection of Suriname, a health certificate and the vaccinations the Surinamese rules ask for, and 48 hours of notice of the time and place of import. The way home needs a Great Britain pet health certificate, a rabies blood test and a wait of three months from the sample date, and a dog needs tapeworm treatment between 24 hours and 5 days before landing.
