Private jet charter in Palanga
The Lithuanian seaside is closer to London than most people suppose: a jet that leaves a London field after breakfast touches down at Palanga about two hours and twenty minutes later, with the clocks two hours ahead and the beach a few minutes from the runway. Private Jets UK arranges the charter around the kind of stay it turns out to be, a week of sand and pine forest, a spa weekend or a day at the port next door. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Palanga has one 2,280 m runway, customs and immigration listed as available round the clock and a ground handler named in the official aeronautical information, but no slot system and no separate business aviation terminal that we could confirm, and every private arrival needs prior permission, so the choices that matter are the handler, the date and the size of the cabin.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Palanga depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from London City, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Palanga?
Allow about two hours and twenty minutes from the London fields, and put your watch two hours forward on arrival, because Lithuania keeps Eastern European time and changes its clocks on the same dates as Britain. The sectors in the table run from 804 to 942 nautical miles, which is the upper end of short-haul. A light jet covers them without a stop; most parties with a full cabin and luggage pick a midsize one, and the table shows the sector from each British field we use.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall
Take off from London City at seven and you are on the ground at Palanga at about twenty past eleven local time, with the sea air in time for lunch. The airport lies about 7 km from the centre of the resort and about 32 km from Klaipėda, so the transfer is short. Add the drive to the British field and the passport check at the Lithuanian end and a journey from central London to a hotel on the Baltic comes to about five hours. A scheduled itinerary usually means a change at a hub and most of a day.
Light jet or midsize for a coast trip
– Two or three adults with beach bags do not need more than a light jet, and the saving against a midsize cabin is real. We still quote the next class up beside it, because the sector is a little over two hours and the flight home is often into a headwind;
– Add children, a dog, golf clubs, bicycles or the luggage of a spa weekend and the midsize cabin stops being a luxury. Summer families tend to fill the hold before they fill the seats;
– A super-midsize or large jet is for a group that must travel together, for a company party, or for a trip that goes on from the coast to Vilnius, Riga or Scandinavia in the same aircraft.

Hopping inland: when a turboprop beats the road
Vilnius is 171 nautical miles from Palanga, which a Pilatus PC-12 flies in about 1 hour, against about 330 km by road. Kaunas is 123 nautical miles, about 50 minutes in the air and about 240 km by car, and Riga is 116 nautical miles, about 45 minutes. There is no passport control between the three Baltic states, so the border is crossed once, at the first airport in Lithuania. For a meeting in the capital and a weekend on the coast in the same trip, one aircraft that waits is simpler than two bookings.
Before you accept an onward quote from the coast
– Check that the quote names the handler. At Palanga the ground handler has to be coordinated before the prior permission request is filed, and a quote that skips this step is incomplete;
– Check whether the legs are one booking. A coast week followed by a day in Vilnius and a hop to Riga costs less as a single trip, because the aircraft and crew stay with you instead of returning to base between stops.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Palanga:
Light jets, for a short stay
A sector of a little over two hours is comfortable for two or three people with soft bags. Range is no issue for Palanga, so the money goes on the flying hour and not on capability you will not use, and a light jet is also the easiest type to fit on the general aviation stands.
Midsize, for the family week
Children, a dog, prams, bicycles and beach gear are the usual reasons a coast booking moves out of the light class. A midsize cabin has the baggage space and room to move that a long day out with a family needs.
Super-midsize and large
For a company party, a wedding group or a trip that carries on from the coast to Scandinavia or the Gulf. Bigger aircraft need stands with a larger wingspan limit, which the tower assigns on arrival, so we settle the stand with the handler before the quote.
Turboprops
The right aircraft for the inland hops: Vilnius in about an hour, Kaunas in under an hour, Riga in less than that. Over distances like these a turboprop saves a lot against a jet and uses the same short runways.
Helicopters
Not for the flight from Britain but for the last stretch: the dunes of Šventoji, a manor in Kretinga or the lake at Plateliai. The airport has no helipad, and where a helicopter may land away from it is agreed before the quote.

This is a small part of what is available. Palanga is a small market, so a suitable aircraft is often already within an hour or so of the airport, in Riga, Kaunas or Vilnius, and that is frequently where the better price comes from.

Business aviation airports for the Lithuanian coast
The coast has one airport that does the work. The three others on this list matter as a back-up, for a trip that is really to another part of Lithuania, or because a quote names them and you should know why.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Palanga International PLQ / EYPA |
The answer for the resort, the spa hotels, Šventoji and the port of Klaipėda. It lies about 7 km north of the centre of Palanga and about 32 km from Klaipėda, and has a single asphalt runway, 01/19, of 2,280 by 45 metres. Customs and immigration, fuelling, handling, de-icing and security are all listed as available round the clock, with Jet A-1 and ground power. It is an airport shared with airline and seasonal charter traffic and not a dedicated business aviation field, we could not confirm a separate FBO, and private flights need prior permission |
| Kaunas KUN / EYKA |
About 14 km north-east of Kaunas and about 240 km from Palanga by road, with a runway of 3,250 m, longer than anything on the coast. It earns a place on this list as the diversion field when weather closes the coast and for a trip that is really to Kaunas. It is on the official list of airports where pets may enter Lithuania, so a diversion with a dog does not break the pet rules. By air it is 123 nautical miles away, about 50 minutes by turboprop |
| Vilnius International VNO / EYVI |
The capital's airport, about 330 km from Palanga by road and 171 nautical miles by air. It has a runway of 2,515 m and a VIP terminal of its own, so it is the right landing for a meeting in the capital, and a sensible start for a trip that ends on the coast by turboprop or car. It is a plan B for Palanga only when the whole coast is shut |
| Riga RIX / EVRA |
Not a Lithuanian airport but a plan B and a link in a Baltic loop, 116 nautical miles away and about 45 minutes by turboprop. Riga has a runway of 3,200 m and ILS Category II, about 10 km west of the city, and a dedicated business aviation terminal that was the first in the Baltic states. It makes sense when the Lithuanian fields are shut or when Riga is the next stop |
The details of the Palanga airfield matter more than usual, because it was built for airliners and handles general aviation alongside them:
asphalt, 2,280 by 45 m, with both thresholds displaced by 150 mlanding distance 2,130 m
ILS Category I to runway 19, and an EGNOS satellite approach (LPV) to runway 01both listed
all listed in the official aeronautical information as available round the clockH24
Jet A-1 and AVGAS-LL, with 115 V and 28 V ground powerlisted
category A7, and category 8 with at least 24 hours of noticeon request
light aircraft up to 5,700 kg only, so a business jet normally stays on the apron overnightlimited
Four points settle most Palanga arrivals:
Choose the handler first
The aeronautical information names UAB Ground Handling Agency as the ground handling provider and says handling must be coordinated before the prior permission application is filed. Flight-support companies also list their own Palanga handling services. We ask the operator which it prefers and confirm the handler, the stand and the meeting point in writing before you pay.
Permission, not slots
Prior permission is strictly applied to arriving non-scheduled and general aviation flights, with coordination at least 24 hours before landing when handling is pre-arranged. The aeronautical information lists no slot system and no curfew. Its noise abatement rules apply to jets of 34,000 kg or more with more than 19 passenger seats, which excludes most business aircraft.
Where the aircraft parks
General aviation aircraft use stands 9 to 15, parked facing west, with a wingspan limit of 18 m. The other stands are listed with limits of 36 m and 52 m, and the tower assigns the stand on arrival. Light jets and the smaller midsize types normally fit the general aviation row; larger aircraft need one of the other stands, which is why the stand is settled in advance.
Weather, birds and the car
The airport is on the coast, with seasonal bird activity from winter gulls to summer breeding, worst around sunrise and sunset, and the crew allow for it. Snow clearing and de-icing are available round the clock. Give the car company the handler and the stand as well as the flight number, because a driver told only the airport may wait at the airline terminal.

Border, passport and the way home
Lithuania is inside Schengen and Britain is not, so the formalities happen at the first landing, and customs and immigration at Palanga are listed as available round the clock. After that, a hop to Riga or a drive to Šventoji is free of border control. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport issued less than ten years before arrival and valid for at least three months beyond the day they leave. The Entry/Exit System takes a photograph and fingerprints from short-stay visitors, so allow a few extra minutes on a first visit. The way home runs the other way: Britain treats the aircraft as arriving from abroad, so a General Aviation Report is filed not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departure, and passengers pass the border at the British airfield. Visitors who need no visa for Britain still need an Electronic Travel Authorisation unless they are British or Irish citizens. We file the paperwork; you bring passports that are in date.

From the apron to the beach
Palanga is the largest seaside resort in Lithuania and is nicknamed the Summer Capital. A population of some 18,000 swells many times over in July and August. Everything the resort offers lies within a few minutes of the airport, and the places worth a car or a helicopter lie a little further up and down the coast.
about 7 km, with the main road to Klaipėda and Liepāja passing the airporttypically 10 to 15 minutes
a wooden sea bridge about 470 m long at the end of Jonas Basanavičius Street, popular for sunseton foot
a former fishing village and port at the northern end of the municipality, about 12 km north of the centretypically about 15 minutes by road
the nearest railway station and the Tiškevičiai manor, about 12 km easttypically about 15 minutes by road
the port city and the gate to the Curonian Spit, about 25 km south of the towntypically about 30 minutes by road
the nearest Latvian city, 63 km from the airport along the same roadtypically about 1 hour by road
The resort in detail: park, amber, pier and spa
The old heart of Palanga is the Botanical Park, laid out round the Tiškevičiai palace by the French landscape architect Édouard André, with its ponds, rose garden and old trees. It covers about 100 hectares, and beside it rises Birutė Hill, an ancient forested dune with a chapel on top. The neo-Renaissance palace itself houses the Amber Museum, with about 28,000 pieces in its collection, around 15,000 of them with insects, spiders or plants trapped inside, and about 4,500 on display. The museum is closed on Mondays and public holidays, and in the high summer weeks it stays open until the evening, so it is a half-day for a rainy afternoon.
The social centre is Jonas Basanavičius Street, a pedestrian street in the high season that runs down to the sea bridge past the old Kurhaus and fills each evening with music, restaurants and fairground noise. People either love it or avoid it. Those who avoid it stay in the quieter streets north of the centre or among the pines, where there are no large hotels on the beach itself, and use the long sandy beach, about 18 km of it and up to 300 m wide, for the morning walk.
For a spa weekend the town has a long list of hotels with pools and treatment rooms. Energetikas calls itself the largest wellness centre in town; it stands on the coast, with a beachside spa called Amber Palace and about 200 treatments, many of them based on Baltic amber and local herbs. Others to ask for are Palanga Life Balance SPA Hotel and the Mercure Palanga Vanagupe Resort, which has indoor and outdoor pools. Whichever you choose, book the hotel before the aircraft in July and August, because rooms are the item that runs out.
Day trips from the coast: Šventoji, Kretinga and Plateliai
- Šventoji is the quieter, family-oriented resort at the mouth of the river of the same name, with a 39 m lighthouse, a small harbour and a long sandy shore. It holds a Fishermen's Festival in the middle of July;
- Kretinga, about 12 km inland, has the Tiškevičiai manor, which is a museum, and a former winter garden of the family that houses a restaurant. It is also where the nearest railway station is, useful if one member of the party prefers the train to the car;
- Plateliai, roughly 50 km inland, is the centre of Žemaitija National Park and sits on the largest lake in Samogitia, about 12 square kilometres and up to 49 m deep. Nearby is the Cold War Museum in a former missile base, open daily and best booked in advance for a guided tour;
- Klaipėda and the Curonian Spit lie to the south and are a separate trip with their own logic. The same airport serves them, and the road from Palanga takes about half an hour.
A driver is the normal way to do these trips. A helicopter can shorten the longer ones, but the places where it may land need to be agreed beforehand, and the block on helicopters below explains why.
Flying to Palanga with a dog or a cat
For a pet the paperwork is the part of a Lithuanian trip that needs planning, and the flight is the easy bit: the animal sits beside you in the cabin, never in a hold, and on a sector of two and a half hours most simply sleep. The date on the health certificate is the detail to get right, since it lasts ten days from the day it is issued. A beach week with a dog is one of the most ordinary bookings we handle, because the long sandy beach and the pine forest suit dogs well.

What Lithuania, as an EU country, asks for:
- An ISO microchip that can be read with a standard scanner, fitted before the rabies vaccination or at the same time. Lithuania's veterinary service states that the date of the vaccine cannot precede the chip;
- A rabies vaccination given when the animal was at least 12 weeks old, with 21 days elapsed before entry, and boosters kept on schedule;
- An Animal Health Certificate from an Official Veterinarian, valid for ten days for entry to the EU and for the return to Britain as stated on the certificate, together with the owner's written declaration that the journey is not commercial. A British pet passport is not accepted for entry to the EU;
- No more than five animals per traveller, with the documents and the chip checked at a travellers' point of entry. Palanga airport is on the official list of those points for pets, alongside Vilnius, Kaunas and Šiauliai, and we arrange the check with the handler at the terminal;
- No tapeworm treatment on the way in, since Lithuania is not among the countries that ask for it. For dogs returning to Britain, a treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival, recorded with product, date and time. Cats are exempt.
What catches owners out on the coast
– The tapeworm treatment is a vet appointment you book at the resort towards the end of the stay. Count back from the departure time, because the window is 24 to 120 hours and an early Monday flight needs a visit before the weekend closes the clinics. Find the vet when you book the hotel, not on the last day;
– The order of the chip and the vaccine matters. A vaccination dated before the microchip does not count, and an animal that arrives without the right papers may be refused entry or sent back at the owner's expense;
– Hotels and helicopter operators each decide for themselves whether they take a dog, so settle both before the quote.
Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide. For the flight home, we confirm the entry point and the paperwork for the animal in writing before the flight.
The Palanga calendar: from the Smelt Festival to the closing of the season
Palanga lives in two speeds. From June to August it is the busiest resort in Lithuania, and between October and May it is a quiet seaside town whose restaurants and clubs partly close. The peak is the middle of August, and the calendar below is the order in which the weeks fill.
Why the calendar matters here
Aircraft are rarely the scarce item for Palanga, because the events are town events and the airport is not slot controlled. What runs out in the middle of August are rooms, restaurant tables and drivers, and the stand and handler arrangements that make a private arrival work are also easier to settle with a few weeks' notice. Winter is the opposite case: a quiet resort, a quiet apron and a flight that is easy to book, but with weather that can change a plan on any date, so we keep an alternative field in mind.
Ways to bring the Palanga price down
- Shift the dates by a few days if the diary allows. A flight in June or the first half of September is calmer and cheaper to arrange than the week of the Assumption holiday;
- Ask where the aircraft is based. A jet already sitting in Riga, Kaunas or Vilnius costs less to bring over than one flown out from Britain, and on a sector of this length the positioning is a visible slice of the invoice;
- Take the light jet only when the party and the bags are small. Two people with cabin bags save real money in a CJ3+; five with hold luggage and a dog do not, and the quote that looks cheap on paper is often the one that changes.
Types of flights
Palanga produces a different mix from the capitals, because it is a place people go to rest and the work it brings is mostly the port and the coast.
- Summer weeks for families and groups of friends, mostly between the end of June and the end of August;
- Spa weekends for couples and small parties, often in the shoulder months;
- Business trips to the port of Klaipėda, which this airport serves;
- Baltic loops that add the coast to Vilnius, Kaunas or Riga in one itinerary;
- Winter breaks around the Smelt Festival, Christmas and New Year, sometimes with a dog;
- Day trips from London, which at two hours twenty minutes each way are a long day but a workable one.
The day trip is possible, with a long lunch. Wheels up at seven, on the ground at about twenty past eleven local time and off again at six in the evening gives you more than six hours on the coast and puts you back in Britain around twenty past six. The crew waits at the airport and that waiting time is charged, yet the total is usually below two one-way charters, and we price the route both ways so you can compare.
Empty Legs
Some jets cross the Baltic with nobody aboard, moving to their next job, and the operator will sell that seat-free leg cheaply rather than fly it for nothing. That is an empty leg. On the coast the supply follows the season: plentiful in the weeks around the start and the end of the summer, thin in winter.
Where Palanga empty legs come from
– Summer weekends. A family or group is flown in on a Friday and the aircraft goes home empty, which produces a return leg on the Saturday or Sunday towards London or Scandinavia;
– End of the season. At the close of August and in September operators bring aircraft back from the coast, and those repositioning legs are the ones most often offered;
– Baltic rotation. Aircraft moving between Riga, Vilnius, Kaunas and Tallinn put short regional legs on the market, and those short hops can be cheap.
Because the coast is a thinner market than the biggest London corridors, a client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. What you give up is the usual: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Palanga match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
At Palanga a helicopter is a tool for the edges of the trip. The official aeronautical information lists no helicopter landing area at the airport: helicopters land on the runway and park on the stands also used by other aircraft. The places where rotary flight changes the day are the dunes and harbour of Šventoji, the manor at Kretinga, the lake at Plateliai and a scenic loop over the pier, the pines and the beach.
the harbour village about 12 km up the coast, against a drive of about a quarter of an hour each waytypically 10 to 15 minutes
the lake and the national park, roughly 50 km inlandtypically 20 to 25 minutes
the pier, the dunes, the Botanical Park and the beach from the airtypically 30 minutes
a landing away from an aerodrome needs an agreed site and the landowner's consenton request
Before you plan around a helicopter
– Rotary flight is limited by where it may set down. A landing away from an aerodrome needs an agreed site and the landowner's consent, so we check the status of a hotel lawn or an estate garden before the quote is written;
– Coastal weather sets the schedule. Fog, low cloud, sea wind and winter snow can stop a helicopter on a day when the jet lands without trouble, so a transfer needs a road alternative planned into the same day;
– For the peak weeks of July and August, book the helicopter together with the jet, or expect to be told there is no rotary capacity.
The machines on this ground are the Airbus H125 for short scenic work, the wider H130 for estate and lakeside transfers, the H135 and the Bell 429 where a twin is wanted, and the H155 for larger parties. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable.

Flight payment options
The main goal of our company is to provide the highest level of comfort to our customers. Therefore, we're always ready to meet you halfway. Palanga charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
SUMMER WEEK · A FAMILY
Two adults, three children and a week on the sand
London Luton - Palanga, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 15 min · 5 pax
The party chose the middle of July, and the hold carried bicycles and beach gear as well as suitcases, so the quote was a midsize cabin from the start. The handler confirmed the stand and the prior permission a few weeks ahead, and a minibus was waiting at the aircraft. The rooms, not the aircraft, were the hard part of the booking.
SPA WEEKEND · TWO COUPLES
Friday to Sunday in a spa hotel
Biggin Hill - Palanga and return, Citation CJ3+, about 2 h 20 min each way · 4 pax
Four adults who wanted the pool, the treatments and a walk to the pier at sunset. They flew out on the Friday morning in September, when the resort had emptied after the summer, and came back on the Sunday afternoon. A light jet was enough because they travelled with soft bags only.
BUSINESS · PORT MEETING
A working day in Klaipėda and home for the evening
London City - Palanga and return, Citation CJ3+, about 2 h 20 min each way · 3 pax
Three people left London City at seven, landed at about twenty past eleven local time and drove the 32 km to Klaipėda for afternoon meetings. The aircraft waited at Palanga and that wait was a line in the quote, but the total was still lower than two one-way charters. Home in the early evening.
BALTIC LOOP · ONE BOOKING
The capital, the coast and Riga in four days
London City - Vilnius - Palanga - Riga - London City, Citation XLS+ · 6 pax
A meeting in Vilnius, two days on the coast and a last meeting in Riga, all with one aircraft that stayed with the party. Passport control happened once, on the first landing, and the hops between the Baltic states were border-free. Priced as separate charters it came out well above the single booking.
WINTER BREAK · A DOG ON BOARD
Four adults and a spaniel for the Smelt Festival
Southampton - Palanga, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 25 min · 4 pax + dog
The Animal Health Certificate had to be dated inside ten days of arrival, and the vet appointment for the tapeworm treatment had to fall between 24 and 120 hours before the flight home. We booked both with the aircraft, left extra time for de-icing and the hotel took the dog.
EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY WEST
A jet already going your way
Palanga - London Luton, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 2 h 10 min · 3 pax
The aircraft had brought a group to the coast on the Friday and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for a weekend departure to the London fields.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Palanga
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Palanga?
About 2 hours 20 minutes from both London City and Biggin Hill in a light jet, and around 2 hours 10 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes from Luton or Farnborough in a Phenom, covering roughly 822 to 857 nautical miles. From Birmingham or Manchester allow about 2 hours 20 minutes in a midsize cabin, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow around 2 hours 15 minutes to 2 hours 20 minutes. Palanga is two hours ahead of Britain, so a seven o'clock departure lands at about twenty past eleven local time.
2How much does a private jet to Palanga cost?
From about £11,300 one way on a light jet out of London City, and £11,350 from Biggin Hill. A Phenom from Luton or Farnborough runs £11,350 to £11,700, a midsize cabin costs £14,550 from Birmingham and £15,450 from Bristol, and from Scotland allow £17,950 to £18,600. The peak weeks of July and August can price above these figures.
3Which airport should a private jet use for Palanga?
Palanga International (PLQ / EYPA), about 7 km from the centre of the resort and 32 km from Klaipėda. It has one 2,280 m runway, ground handling, fuelling and de-icing, and customs and immigration listed as available round the clock, but no separate business aviation terminal that we could confirm. Kaunas (KUN / EYKA) is the diversion airport, Vilnius (VNO / EYVI) is the airport for the capital and Riga (RIX / EVRA) is a plan B.
4Does a private jet need permission to land at Palanga, and what happens on arrival?
Yes. Prior permission is strictly applied to non-scheduled and general aviation arrivals, with coordination at least 24 hours ahead when handling is pre-arranged, and the handling has to be agreed first. The official aeronautical information lists no slot system. Lithuania is in Schengen and Britain is not, so passengers pass passport control and customs on arrival. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180.
5Can I fly on from Palanga to Vilnius, Kaunas or Riga?
Vilnius is 171 nautical miles from Palanga, Kaunas 123 and Riga 116, so a Pilatus PC-12 flies them in about 1 hour, 50 minutes and 45 minutes, with no passport control between the Baltic states. By road Vilnius is about 330 km away and Kaunas about 240 km. Helsinki is 300 nautical miles away and about 1 hour 30 minutes in the same aircraft.
6Can I take my dog to Palanga on a private jet?
Yes. The dog travels in the cabin with you, and Lithuania, as an EU country, asks for a microchip fitted before or with the rabies vaccination, a vaccination at least 21 days old and an Animal Health Certificate valid for ten days for entry. Palanga airport is on the official list of points of entry for pets. For the return to Britain a dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival. Cats are exempt from the treatment.
