Private jet charter in Verona

Under two hours separate the London fields from Verona, and the reason for going usually decides the aircraft: an evening in the Arena, a stand at Vinitaly, or a villa on Lake Garda that is half an hour from the runway. We arrange the charter around whichever of those it is. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Verona has one airport for business jets: a 3,068 m runway, open round the clock, with five handlers listed for private flights and the city only about ten to twelve kilometres away. The decisions that matter are therefore the date, the size of the cabin and where the second night is spent, on the lake, in the city or up in the Dolomites.

private jet charter

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Verona depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.

You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:

  • using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
  • via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
  • by landline or cell phone;
  • via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).

Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.

How long does it take to fly to Verona?

Just under two hours from Biggin Hill in a light jet, a little over two from the Midlands and the north, and one hour on the clock to add on arrival, because Italy keeps Central European time. At roughly 582 to 888 nautical miles this is the middle of the short-haul range: a light jet is a comfortable sit for four people, and nothing on the route needs a heavy cabin. The table gives the sector from each British field we use.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall

Leave a London airfield at seven in the morning and you are on the ground at Villafranca a little before ten local time, with the extra hour already counted. The airport is about 12 km from the centre and the drive takes 15 to 20 minutes, so a client who left central London before half past six can be at a late-morning appointment in Verona. Add the drive to the British airfield and the processing at both ends and the journey from central London to central Verona comes to roughly three and a half to four hours, with no connection to miss and no terminal to cross.

Light jet or midsize: the question that comes up on this route

– Up to about four people with ordinary bags, a light jet is the right answer and the saving over a midsize cabin is real. Just under two hours in a CJ3+ or a Phenom is perfectly comfortable;

– Past that, or with dinner jackets and gowns for an evening in the Arena, golf or ski bags on the way to the Dolomites, or cartons of samples from a trade fair, we quote a midsize jet alongside it so you see both figures. The hold decides this more often than the seat count;

– Heavy aircraft only make sense when the party is large, when the same aircraft stays with you across several European stops, or when Verona is the first leg of something longer.

Private jet flights from Verona

Verona is a hinge between the lakes, the Dolomites and the Po plain, which makes it a good base for short regional loops. Venice and Milan are short turboprop hops, Zurich and Munich lie across the Alps, and the coast at Nice and Olbia is an hour to an hour and a quarter away. Typical one-way prices:

From Verona by air: when the short hop is worth it

Venice is 64 nautical miles from Verona and Milan Linate 71, which is short enough that an aircraft earns its place only when it connects with something: a long-haul departure from Marco Polo, say, or a diary that cannot spare the drive. Innsbruck is 118 nautical miles away but sits in a valley and is classed as Category C, so pilots need special training and some aircraft types are barred from it. Cortina d'Ampezzo is 262 km by road from Verona, around two hours forty, and that is the figure to set against any plan that flies you somewhere else first. Zurich and Munich are the natural business sectors across the Alps.

Before you accept an onward quote

– Which airport, and who can fly it. Innsbruck demands trained crews, and Villafranca asks for prior permission and compulsory handling at the Italian end. A quote that ignores either is a quote that will change;

– Whether the itinerary is one booking. Verona to Zurich to Munich over three days usually costs less arranged as a single trip, because the aircraft and crew stay with you and do not reposition to Verona between each stop.

Prices depending on the type of business jet

We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

Private jets are ready to take off

Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Verona:

Light jets, and where most bookings land

At just under two hours this is still the sensible class for four or five people with ordinary luggage. Nothing here lacks the range for Verona, so the money goes on the hour and not on capability you will not use.

HondaJet Elite · 5 seatsfrom £1,900/h
Cessna Citation CJ3+ · 7 seatsfrom £2,400/h
Embraer Phenom 300E · 8 seatsfrom £2,600/h
Cessna Citation CJ4 Gen2 · 8 seatsfrom £2,700/h

Midsize, for evening dress and trade-fair luggage

Evening dress for the Arena, ski bags for the Dolomites and cartons from a trade fair are what push a party past the light-jet hold.

Turboprops

The right aircraft for the short regional legs: Venice, Milan and Innsbruck are all under an hour in a turboprop, and the saving over a jet on that distance is large.

Pilatus PC-12 NGX · 9 seatsfrom £1,400/h
Beechcraft King Air 350 · 9 seatsfrom £1,650/h

online private jet directory

This is a small part of what is available. Verona sits close to several fleets at once, so for a booking outside Vinitaly week there is often an aircraft already within an hour or so of Villafranca, in Milan, Venice or Munich, and that is frequently where the better price comes from.

Business aviation airports in Verona

One airport does the work and the others are there for particular reasons. It helps to know them before a quote arrives with one of them in it.

Airport What it gives you
Verona Villafranca, Valerio Catullo
VRN / LIPX
The answer for every jet trip. It lies about 10 to 12 km south-west of the city at Caselle, beside the junction of the A4 and A22 motorways, with a single runway 04/22 of 3,068 m, ICAO fire category 8 and Jet A1 fuel (no AVGAS). Open 24 hours, with prior permission mandatory and subject to stand availability. Slots and handling are required, and it is listed as a joint civil and military field, so arrivals are planned, not improvised
Verona Boscomantico
LIPN
The aero club field inside Verona, with a runway of about 1,000 m (3,327 ft) and no customs facility listed. Light aircraft only, and the place where helicopter charters operate. Jets belong at Villafranca
Brescia Montichiari
LIPO
About 25 nautical miles west of Villafranca (roughly 46 km in a straight line) with a 2,990 m runway. A fall-back when Villafranca has no stand. Handling and customs there are arranged separately and the road to Verona adds time, so we quote it only on request
Venice Marco Polo
VCE / LIPZ
64 nautical miles east, with runways of 3,300 m and 2,780 m. The airport for a trip that is really to Venice, or one that connects with a long-haul departure, and a sensible diversion if Verona is closed to you
Milan Linate
LIN / LIML
71 nautical miles west and the business airport nearest the centre of Milan. Land there when the programme is split between Milan and Verona. On a Verona-only trip it adds a drive for no gain

Four points settle most Verona arrivals:

Choose the handler

The airport lists five handlers for private flights: Airport Global Services, GH Verona (Ground Handling Italia), Argos V.P.H., Delta Aerotaxi and Sky Services. Between them they cover stairs, ground power, cleaning, lavatory and water service, limousines and crew vans. Handling is compulsory, so we ask the operator which it prefers.

Hours, slots and stands

Villafranca is open 24 hours, so a late departure after the opera is possible. What limits you is the stand: prior permission is mandatory and subject to availability, and a slot is needed. Operators report that parking is tight and that larger aircraft are given priority, so we confirm the stand in writing before a fair week.

Border and passport

Italy is in Schengen and Britain is not, so you pass passport control on arrival. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport issued less than ten years before arrival and valid for three months beyond the day you leave the Schengen area. Customs and immigration are on site.

Car and late nights

Tell us the handler as well as the flight, because a driver told only "Verona airport" may wait at the wrong door. The drive into the city is 15 to 20 minutes and to Sirmione 25 to 35. For an Arena night, put the late car and the crew hours into the quote from the start.

business aviation

Border, passport and the way home

The flight out ends with a passport check at Villafranca and the flight back with passport control and customs in Britain, because Britain sits outside Schengen. Time in other Schengen countries counts towards the 90 days, so a long trip around Italy and Switzerland needs a count. For the return we file the General Aviation Report not earlier than 48 hours and not later than 2 hours before departure. Passengers who are not British or Irish citizens and need no visa generally require an Electronic Travel Authorisation for Britain, and we ask for the details well ahead.

From the apron to the Arena

Verona is a city you reach in a quarter of an hour from the runway and then cross on foot. The Arena stands in Piazza Bra, the old centre is small, and the distances that matter run outward: to the southern shore of Lake Garda, to Riva at its head and to the Dolomites.

Villafranca to central Verona

Villafranca to Sirmione and Peschiera

Flying to Verona with a dog or a cat

Italy asks for no more than the rest of the EU on the way in, and Britain asks for a vet visit on the way back. The animal sits in the cabin beside you, and the paperwork is where trips go wrong, because the certificate has a short life.

private flight with animals

What is needed for the outward flight and the return:

  • A microchip, fitted before or on the same day as the rabies vaccination;
  • A rabies vaccination given from 12 weeks of age, with 21 days elapsed before entry;
  • An animal health certificate for the trip, valid for entry into the EU for 10 days. A GB pet passport is not accepted;
  • No more than five animals per traveller, entering through a travellers' point of entry, which we arrange with the handler;
  • Nothing further at the Italian border: Italy does not ask for tick or tapeworm (echinococcus) treatment on entry from a third country;
  • For the return to Britain, a dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival, recorded on the paperwork. Cats are exempt. A pet travel document and a declaration go with the animal, and the certificate is valid for the return as stated on it.

What catches owners out on the Verona run

– The tapeworm treatment is a vet appointment in Italy, towards the end of the stay. Book a practice near the hotel or the villa before you leave, because the window is 24 to 120 hours and a weekend can swallow it;

– A British pet passport cannot be used to enter the EU. The certificate is issued afresh for each trip and the ten days start from the issue date, not from the day you fly;

– Italian rules ask for a leash and a muzzle for dogs in public places and on public transport. An evening in Piazza Bra with a dog is a hotel and sitter question to settle before the quote.

Requirements for ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide. There is no published approved route for animals on private flights into Britain that we could confirm, so we confirm the entry point and the paperwork for the animal in writing before the flight.

The Verona calendar: opera, wine and a fair that rarely stops

Verona keeps two calendars at once. One belongs to Veronafiere, the exhibition centre, whose shows fill most months and decide the dates of business travel. The other belongs to the Arena and the lake, and decides the dates of everyone else. Knowing which week you want matters more than choosing an aircraft.

January
Motor Bike Expo, a three-day show at Veronafiere in the second half of the month. Otherwise a calm month for the lake and the city.
February and March
The fair calendar carries on with agricultural and food shows such as Fieragricola, Progetto Fuoco, SOL Expo and Model Expo Italy. Some of them run only every other year, so check Veronafiere for your dates. Short trade visits, fixed by the exhibition
April
Vinitaly, four days at Veronafiere, with more than 4,000 exhibitors and over 100,000 visitors. OperaWine is held on the eve and Vinitaly and the City spreads tastings into the historic centre. This is the week we would book first
May
Automotive Dealer Day, a three-day trade show. An easy month and a good one for the lake, before the Arena season begins
June to September
The Arena di Verona Opera Festival, in the Roman amphitheatre in Piazza Bra, with about 15,000 seats and performances that start around nine in the evening. Dinner jackets go in the hold and the return is late, which Villafranca's round-the-clock opening makes possible
September
Marmomac, the natural stone fair, appears on the Veronafiere calendar for September, alongside the end of the Arena season
October
Specialist trade shows in energy, automation and hydrogen at Veronafiere. Corporate rather than leisure, and traffic is moderate
November
Fieracavalli, the horse fair, four days in the first half of the month, followed by the Verona Mineral Show
Early December to Boxing Day
Christmas market in Piazza dei Signori, the giant Arena Comet over Piazza Bra, Santa Lucia stalls from about 10 to 13 December and a nativity exhibition in the Arena that runs into late January. Weekend city breaks by air, mostly small parties

Why Vinitaly week costs more

Not the flying. The European light and midsize fleet is large and Verona is well placed in it, with Milan, Venice and Munich all close. What tightens is the ground: Villafranca gives prior permission subject to stand availability, handling is compulsory, and hotels in the city and on the lake usually fill in the same days. A booking made a fortnight before Vinitaly can still be done, but it pays more and may need an aircraft positioned from further away. The same booking five or six weeks earlier is simpler and cheaper. Outside fair weeks and the summer opera season, Verona is an easy airport to arrange, and a charter can often be set up within a day or two.

Ways to bring the Verona price down

  • Move the dates by a few days where you can. The days after the end of a fair empty the airport and the hotels quickly;
  • Ask where the aircraft is based. A jet already in Milan, Venice or Munich takes less positioning than one from Britain, and on a sector this length positioning is a meaningful share of the bill;
  • Take the light jet unless the luggage says otherwise. Four people and four bags do not need a midsize, and the money saved buys the car and the lake hotel.

Types of flights

Verona produces a different mix from Venice or Milan, because it is a trade-fair city, an opera city and the gateway to the lake and the mountains all at once.

  • Wine and trade-fair travel, tied to Vinitaly in April and the other Veronafiere shows, where the dates are fixed and the stand at the airport is the main concern;
  • Opera evenings in the Arena in summer, which mean a late dinner, formal clothes and a departure the next morning;
  • Lake Garda stays, with the southern shore at Sirmione and Peschiera 25 to 35 minutes from the runway;
  • Dolomites and winter sports, flown to Verona and continued by road (Cortina is about 2 h 40 min away) or by helicopter;
  • Day trips from London, which at about two hours each way are a long day but a workable one;
  • Combined itineraries with Venice, Milan, Zurich or Munich, usually arranged as a single multi-sector booking.

The day trip deserves a closer look. A same-day return means the aircraft and crew wait for you instead of going home, and that waiting is paid for, but it usually still comes out cheaper than two separate one-way charters. Leaving at seven and landing a little before ten local time gives you a full working day in Verona and your own bed that night, and on this route we quote it both ways so the difference is visible.

Empty Legs

An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. On the Verona route they follow the pattern of fairs and weekends more than sheer volume, and it helps to know what produces them.

Where Verona empty legs come from

– Fair weeks. When visitors arrive on charters for Vinitaly or Fieracavalli, the aircraft often leave empty a day or two later, producing outbound legs in the days after;

– Opera weekends. Aircraft come in for a summer weekend and go back to their bases on the Sunday, and that evening leg is the one most often offered;

– Lake and mountain rotation. Through the season operators move aircraft between the lake, the Dolomites and the Milan and Venice areas, and the short Italian legs between them can be cheap.

Because the Verona corridor is thinner than the busiest London routes, a client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. What you give up is the usual: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Verona match the day an operator releases it.

empty legs

Helicopter charter

In Verona a helicopter is a tool for the edges of a trip and not the middle. The old town is small enough to cross by car or on foot, and the places where rotary flight changes the journey are the lake shore, the vineyards and the mountains behind them.

Villafranca to Sirmione and the southern lake
30 to 35 km, against 25 to 35 minutes by car. A time saver only if the lawn is at the door
about 10 to 15 minutes
Villafranca to Riva del Garda
more than 80 km by road, which is over an hour in a car
about 25 minutes
A scenic loop of the city and the hills
the Arena, the bends of the Adige and the vineyards of the hills above Verona
about 30 to 40 minutes

Before you plan around a helicopter

– A helicopter cannot land wherever it likes. A hotel lawn or a private villa needs its status and permission confirmed before we quote, not after;

– Mountain weather sets the schedule. Cloud in the valleys can stop a helicopter on a day when the jet lands without trouble, so a mountain transfer needs a road alternative planned into the same day;

– Twin-engine machines are the sensible minimum on any route across high ground. For fair weeks and the Arena season, book the helicopter together with the jet or expect to be told there is no rotary capacity.

Helicopter charters operate from the Boscomantico field in the city, and the types listed for that ground are the Airbus H125, H130 and H155, the Bell 429, the Agusta 109 and the Airbus AS355 Twin Star. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable. The times above are our own estimates for light helicopters, and the operator gives the final figure.

Verona charters from the booking notes: six typical trips

What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.

DAY TRIP · OUT AND BACK

A late-morning meeting in Verona and home for dinner

Biggin Hill - Verona and return, Citation CJ3+, about 1 h 55 min each way · 4 pax

Wheels up at seven, on the ground at Villafranca a little before ten local time, in the meeting by eleven and back at Biggin Hill in the evening. The aircraft and crew waited at the airport rather than going home, which is a real line in the quote and usually still comes in below two separate one-way charters. It is a long day and it works.

VINITALY · THE STAND DECIDED THE DATE

Five people, sample cartons and a fixed week

Farnborough - Verona, Phenom 300E, about 1 h 50 min · 5 pax

The dates belonged to the fair and not to the client. The booking went in six weeks ahead, prior permission and the handler were arranged together with the slot, and the cartons of samples took more of the hold than the passengers did. The aircraft left on time and nothing needed explaining.

OPERA NIGHT · A LATE DEPARTURE

Six people for a Saturday in the Arena

London Luton - Verona, Citation XLS+, about 1 h 55 min · 6 pax

Dinner jackets and evening dresses took the hold beyond what a light jet carries comfortably, so the quote moved up a class for the luggage and not for the seats. The performance started around nine, a car waited at the handler, and the return left on Sunday morning with the slot booked together with the outbound.

LAKE GARDA · A DOG ON BOARD

Four adults and a spaniel for a week by the water

Southampton - Verona, Phenom 300E, about 1 h 50 min · 4 pax + dog

The animal health certificate had to be dated within ten days of arrival, and the vet appointment for the tapeworm treatment had to fall between 24 and 120 hours before the flight home. We booked both with the aircraft, the villa took the dog, and the whole thing was settled in one exchange of messages rather than three.

DOLOMITES · THE ROAD TOOK THE REST

Eight skiers, ski bags and a car waiting

Birmingham - Verona, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 05 min · 8 pax

The party wanted Cortina, and the answer was to land at Villafranca and drive, since the road from Verona is about two hours forty. Ski bags and boot bags filled the hold, which is why the booking went to a midsize cabin, and the transfer vehicles were ordered with the aircraft.

EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY EVENING WEST

A jet already going your way

Verona - London Luton, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 1 h 50 min · 3 pax

The aircraft had brought a party in for the weekend and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for a Sunday evening departure to the London fields.

Frequently asked questions about flying to Verona

1How long is a private jet flight from London to Verona?

About 1 hour 55 minutes from Biggin Hill or London City, and around 1 hour 50 minutes from Luton or Farnborough in a Phenom, covering roughly 582 to 615 nautical miles. From Birmingham or Manchester allow about 2 hours 5 to 2 hours 10, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow around 2 hours 25 to 2 hours 30. Verona is one hour ahead of Britain, so a seven o'clock departure lands a little before ten local time.

2How much does a private jet to Verona cost?

From about £8,500 one way on a light jet out of Biggin Hill, and £8,550 from London City. A Phenom from Luton or Farnborough is £8,950 and £8,800, a midsize cabin runs £11,950 to £12,650 from the Midlands and the north, and from Scotland allow £18,150 to £18,600. Vinitaly week, summer opera weekends and the December market weekends price above these figures.

3Which Verona airport should a private jet use?

Verona Villafranca (VRN / LIPX) for almost every trip. It is about 10 to 12 km from the centre, open 24 hours, with a 3,068 m runway, five handlers listed for private flights and customs on site. Prior permission is mandatory and subject to stand availability, and handling is compulsory. Brescia Montichiari (LIPO) is the fall-back when there is no stand, and Venice Marco Polo (VCE / LIPZ) is the airport if the trip is really to Venice. Boscomantico (LIPN) is for light aircraft and helicopters only.

4When should I book a private jet to Verona?

Outside the peaks a day or two is usually enough. For Vinitaly in April and the other Veronafiere shows, and for summer Arena weekends, allow four to six weeks. The stand at Villafranca, hotels and cars all get tight in the same days, and a late booking tends to pay more for an aircraft positioned from further away.

5Can I fly on from Verona to Lake Garda or the Dolomites?

Yes. The southern shore of Lake Garda at Sirmione is 25 to 35 minutes from the airport by car, and Riva del Garda is over an hour. Cortina d'Ampezzo is 262 km by road, around two hours forty, so most Dolomites trips land at Verona and continue by road or by helicopter, with the landing site confirmed first. Innsbruck, Venice and Milan are short turboprop sectors.

6Can I take my dog to Verona on a private jet?

Yes. The dog travels in the cabin with you, and you need a microchip, a rabies vaccination at least 21 days old and an animal health certificate valid for entry into the EU for 10 days. A GB pet passport is not accepted. For the return to Britain a dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival. Cats are exempt from the treatment.
