Private jet charter in Burkina Faso
A Praetor 600 flies the 2,435 nautical miles from London to Ouagadougou in about 5 h 45 min without a stop, and that is the easy part of a Burkina Faso charter. The Foreign Office advises against all travel to the country, a landing permit is needed for every flight, and the hours, fuel and handling at the airport are documented far less reliably than at a European field. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. For Burkina Faso we put the published advice, the limits of what we arrange and the practical alternatives on the page before any price, so that a decision to fly is made with the facts in front of you.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Burkina Faso depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, an Embraer Praetor 600 to Ouagadougou, nonstop, and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Burkina Faso?
Burkina Faso keeps Greenwich Mean Time all year and does not change its clocks. On landing the local time matches Britain in winter and runs one hour behind it from spring to autumn, and airport hours in the country are quoted in UTC, which is local time there. These are the sectors to Ouagadougou on a Praetor 600, gate to gate:
2,435 nautical miles, the closest of the London fields that suit a long sector, and the basis for the price at the top of the pageabout 5 h 45 min
2,431 nautical miles, the usual choice for Surrey, Hampshire and the Thames Valleyabout 5 h 45 min
2,560 nautical miles, the main departure for the north of Englandabout 6 h
2,724 nautical miles, the main Scottish departure, with the longest sector of the fourabout 6 h 25 min
Why the aircraft decides the plan
The Praetor 600, the Challenger 605 and everything larger fly London to Ouagadougou in one hop. A light jet such as the Phenom 300E and a midsize jet such as the Citation XLS+ have ranges of roughly 2,000 nautical miles, so they stop in Gran Canaria first, which typically adds about an hour.
The legs are 1,631 nautical miles to Gran Canaria and 1,266 from there to Ouagadougou. From Biggin Hill a Phenom 300E through the Canaries takes about 7 h 45 min gate to gate and prices at about £35,300, while a Citation XLS+ on that routing comes to about £43,950, more than the £39,200 for a Praetor 600 that flies straight through.
The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

Two things worth knowing about these figures
– The departure airfield moves the price less than the aircraft does. Manchester costs about £1,850 more than Biggin Hill on the same Praetor 600, while the step from a Praetor to a Challenger 605 on the same departure is about £10,900;
– A one-way price assumes the aircraft flies home empty. For a stay of more than a day the aircraft either waits at Ouagadougou, with parking and the crew's hotel as lines of their own, or flies out and returns for you, and the extra flying is priced as such. Permits, handling and fuel are quoted separately.
What a British operator can and cannot do for Burkina Faso
Most destinations are a matter of price and timing. Burkina Faso is a matter of what is possible, so we set that out before we quote.
The Foreign Office position
The Foreign Office advises against all travel to Burkina Faso because of the threat of terrorist attacks and terrorist kidnap and the unstable political situation. It adds that travel insurance could be invalidated if you travel against that advice. We never describe a trip to the country as safe, and we ask every passenger to read the full text before accepting a quote.
The flying side
We found no prohibition on civil flights to the country's airports, and no EASA conflict zone bulletin that names the Ouagadougou flight information region. The bulletin on Mali covers Mali airspace and the Niamey and Dakar regions below flight level 260. The operator checks the bulletins again before every departure and has the last word on the route.
Insurance and support
The aircraft's insurer sets its own territorial and war-risk terms, and the operator must confirm in writing that the policy covers the airports on the plan. There is no British embassy in Burkina Faso, consular support comes from Accra without in-person help, and the Foreign Office warns that the British government may not be able to evacuate you.
What we do not arrange
Domestic flights between two Burkinabe points on a British aircraft, road journeys outside the airport area of Ouagadougou and anything that depends on travelling after dark. The Foreign Office lists the road between Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso among those with a danger of armed attacks.
If the purpose can be met elsewhere
Many meetings need not be held in Burkina Faso. Accra, Abidjan, Lome and Cotonou are all within about 470 nautical miles of Ouagadougou, and we can fly you to any of them from Britain; the next section prices those sectors.
For travellers who must be in Ouagadougou and cannot meet the conditions above, scheduled airlines are the other route. The airport's published list of carriers includes Air France, Brussels Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines and Royal Air Maroc, with onward links to Paris, Brussels and Istanbul. We do not sell airline tickets.
Private jet flights within Burkina Faso and to its neighbours
Burkina Faso is landlocked. Bobo-Dioulasso, the second city, is 188 nautical miles from Ouagadougou in a straight line, and the coastal capitals of the Gulf of Guinea lie between 422 and 467 nautical miles to the south. These are the sectors we are asked for:
| Route | Aircraft | Flight time | Price, one way |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ouagadougou - Bobo-Dioulasso 188 nm / 348 km |
Pilatus PC-12 NGX up to 9 |
about 1 h 10 min | from £3,100 |
| Ouagadougou - Lome (Togo) 422 nm / 782 km |
Citation XLS+ up to 9 |
about 1 h 30 min | from £8,250 |
| Ouagadougou - Accra (Ghana) 429 nm / 795 km |
Citation XLS+ up to 9 |
about 1 h 30 min | from £8,350 |
| Ouagadougou - Cotonou (Benin) 445 nm / 824 km |
Citation XLS+ up to 9 |
about 1 h 30 min | from £8,600 |
| Ouagadougou - Abidjan (Ivory Coast) 467 nm / 865 km |
Citation XLS+ up to 9 |
about 1 h 35 min | from £8,900 |
Domestic sectors and the neighbours
– A British aircraft does not usually carry passengers between two points inside Burkina Faso. That is cabotage, which most countries reserve for local operators, and the Bobo-Dioulasso row is shown only to give a sense of scale. Air Burkina has been listed with scheduled flights between the two cities;
– We found no verified airfield outside those two cities that we would plan passenger arrivals at, so we do not price flights to other towns;
– Lome, Accra, Cotonou and Abidjan are separate countries with their own permits, entry rules and Foreign Office pages, and we do not treat any of them as a staging point for road travel into Burkina Faso.
We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Due to a large database of available business jets, we can help you find an optimal jet and crew. If you have any questions about the departure or the flight itself, you can ask them using the form below:
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Burkina Faso:
Turboprops
For the hops to Togo, Ghana and Benin, never for the journey from London.
Light and midsize jets
These need a fuel stop in Gran Canaria and suit three or four people with soft bags.
Super-midsize
The first class that reaches Ouagadougou in one hop. The Praetor 600 sets the entry price.
Heavy jets
For a delegation or a team with equipment. These fly from anywhere in Britain without a stop.
Ultra-long range
Save a little time and carry up to 16 people.

Business aviation airports in Burkina Faso
Burkina Faso has two airports that take international traffic, and Ouagadougou is the gateway for a charter from Britain. The country is listed with dozens of airfields, but few are operational and most have unlit runways. The longest of those with published details, Dedougou, has 2,500 metres of runway and no listed control, fire fighting or handling, and we do not plan passenger arrivals at any of them:
| Airport | Ground | How it operates |
|---|---|---|
| Ouagadougou Thomas Sankara International OUA / DFFD |
about 2 km south-south-east of the centre of Ouagadougou, built in the 1960s and now surrounded by the city | One asphalt runway, 04/22, of about 3,000 metres (9,843 feet, listed between 3,014 and 3,028 metres) by 45 metres (148 feet), at an elevation of 1,038 feet, with ILS, VOR and NDB approaches, Jet A-1 and rescue and fire category 8. Listed as an airport of entry with customs, no slots and mandatory handling. The airfield has a military sector and carries about 98 per cent of the country's scheduled traffic |
| Bobo-Dioulasso BOY / DFOO |
in the south-west, serving the country's second city | One asphalt runway, 06/24, of 3,300 by 45 metres (10,826 feet) at an elevation of 1,511 feet, with a Category I ILS on runway 06 and Jet A-1 listed. Hours are listed as 06:00 to 20:00 UTC, rescue and fire category 6, customs and immigration during scheduled operations and on request. Scheduled traffic is small, and we found no handler or business aviation facility for it |
| Ouagadougou-Donsin (planned) not in service |
north of the capital, with sources placing it between 30 and 35 km from the city | A replacement for the present airport. The runway and access roads are reported as built, but the operating concession was terminated and the project is being reassessed. We found no opening date, and we plan every trip to the existing airport |
Ouagadougou has no business aviation terminal that we can name and describe. A flight-support directory lists Burkina Airport Services as supervising agent, and a logistics assessment names RACGAE as the handler certified by the civil aviation authority, ANAC, for all airlines except Air Burkina. We choose the handler, and we ask for the arrival procedure, the place where the party is processed and the fuel arrangement in writing before the aircraft is confirmed.
Four points settle most Burkinabe arrivals before a quote goes out:
Permit: ask early
A foreign aircraft needs a landing permit from the civil aviation authorities, and a permit is listed as valid for 24 hours. Guides differ on the notice: 72 hours for requests filed through the aviation network, seven working days for those sent by other means. We plan on a week.
Parking slot
Two directories list no slot as required at Ouagadougou and only the landing permit. Handling is listed as mandatory, and we get parking and the handler's charges confirmed in writing.
Papers for the permit
The flight schedule, entry and exit points and the routing, crew details with passport copies, the aircraft certificates and radio licence, and for a passenger flight the passport copies, the manifest and the contact of the receiving party. A private aircraft is listed as needing no air operator certificate.
Hours on the ground
Two directories list the tower, customs and immigration as available round the clock. A logistics assessment lists the airport as 07:30 to 15:30 UTC, with customs and immigration during scheduled operations and on request, and the airport administration is listed with the same hours. We plan arrivals inside that window unless the handler confirms otherwise in writing.
Arriving from Britain: visa, yellow fever and the Foreign Office advice
A British passenger cannot simply turn up with a passport: Burkina Faso requires a visa, and the health papers and the aircraft permit are separate checks.
British citizens must have a visa to enter Burkina Faso. The Foreign Office says to apply online or through the Embassy of Burkina Faso in Brussels, and that a visa cannot be obtained in the UK. Burkinabe embassies in Accra and Abidjan also serve the regionarrange before you fly
valid for the whole of the stay with two blank pages for entry stamps. A passport reported lost or stolen leads to refused entrycheck the expiry
a certificate proving yellow fever vaccination must be presented at border controlbring the certificate
The Foreign Office advice, as published
The Foreign Office advises against all travel to Burkina Faso. It gives the threat of terrorist attacks and terrorist kidnap, and the unstable political situation, as the reasons. It describes the terrorism threat as high across the country and increasingly including Ouagadougou, says attacks could be indiscriminate and could target tourist sites, festivals, religious sites, transport hubs and national parks, and describes the threat of kidnapping by Al-Qaeda and Islamic State-affiliated groups as very high. British nationals are described as legitimate targets.
A state of emergency covers Centre-Est, Est, Centre-Nord, Nord, Boucle du Mouhoun, Sahel, Hauts-Bassins and Cascades. Further military takeovers are described as possible, protests are common, and vehicle hold-ups are increasing on roads outside Ouagadougou. Travellers are asked to avoid regular travel patterns and to travel only in daylight.
Clearance and the way home
On arrival, passengers and crew clear immigration and customs at the airport of entry, and crew visas are listed as issued on arrival, usually valid for up to 72 hours. The Foreign Office also notes that cards are accepted only at some large hotels and restaurants in Ouagadougou and recommends bringing US dollars in cash.
Coming home is a flight into Britain. A General Aviation Report goes to the border authorities not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departure, and British citizens must carry a valid British passport.

Which airport for which part of Burkina Faso
The answer is Ouagadougou for nearly everything. The second airport exists mainly for the south-west:
the capital and the largest city, the administrative, communications, cultural and economic centre, with the country's one airport for international arrivalsOuagadougou
the second city, in the south-west, with a 3,300 metre runway and a handful of scheduled flightsOuagadougou first, then a local arrangement
towns and airfields where we found no verified runway, customs or handling data, and areas that fall under the state of emergencynot planned
Ouagadougou: what the trips are for
Official and business visits decide most requests. Ouagadougou had about 2.4 million residents at the last census, and the airfield lies only about 2 km from the centre, so the transfer is short.
The Foreign Office points to street crime near the UN Circle and the former Central Market, and warns against photographing military or other government installations. We keep the programme to the aircraft, the car and the place of the meeting, and agree it with the traveller before the permit is requested.
The Burkinabe year: the harmattan, the heat and the rains
Ouagadougou has a hot semi-arid climate, and the seasons matter to a flight mostly through heat, dust and rain:
the dry season, with almost no rain in December. The harmattan, a dry dusty wind from the Sahara, blows from December to February and can leave the air hazy. January is the coolest month, with highs of about 33 degreescooler
the hot season. April is the hottest month, with an average high of about 39 degrees and temperatures that can reach 43hottest
the rains, with August the wettest month at about 180 mm. The Foreign Office warns of floods and landslides, and roads are in a worse statewet
The Burkinabe calendar: one festival and the rains
Few dates drive a flight plan to Burkina Faso, and we list only the one that does:
What an event does to a flight plan
The Foreign Office says the risk may be higher during festivals and religious or public holidays. We do not plan trips around festival dates.

Flying to Burkina Faso with a dog or a cat
A pet can travel in the cabin, but the papers take planning, and the security position is a reason to ask whether the animal should go.
The facts to read before you book
A pet-travel guide for Burkina Faso says dogs and cats must be vaccinated against rabies from 12 weeks of age, at least 21 days before travel, that a dog needs an ISO microchip fitted before or at the same time as the vaccine, and that a health certificate issued within 10 days of arrival, signed by an official vet of the country of origin, must be in French or come with a certified French translation. Another source lists a validity of 30 days, so we use the shorter period.
The same guide lists no import permit and no quarantine for dogs and cats, and it names no entry airport. We found no official Burkinabe text, so we obtain the requirements in writing before the aircraft is confirmed.
Coming home, a pet from a country outside the simple British scheme, as we understand Burkina Faso to be, needs a microchip fitted before the rabies vaccination, then a rabies blood test taken at least 30 days after the vaccination, and a wait of three months from the date of the sample before the animal travels. The wait is not required if the animal was vaccinated and blood-tested, with a British health certificate or an EU pet passport, before it left, which is why we ask owners to do the tests before the outward flight. A dog must also be treated against tapeworm by a vet no less than 24 hours and no more than 120 hours before landing in Britain. No more than five animals may travel with one person, and an animal that arrives without the right paperwork can be held in quarantine for up to four months.
We confirm in writing which entry point will receive the animal and which papers are needed. Requirements for birds, rabbits and the less usual species are set out in our flying with pets guide.

Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. To Burkina Faso they are rare.
Where Burkinabe empty legs come from
– A charter that lands in Ouagadougou and does not wait: the aircraft returns to Europe empty, and the leg home is the one most often offered;
– Aircraft repositioned across West Africa after a contract in Accra, Abidjan or Lome.
Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page. A selection of Burkinabe empty legs follows:
| Route | Aircraft | Capacity | Whole aircraft |
|---|---|---|---|
| Burkina Faso (Ouagadougou) - UK (London Biggin Hill) | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £16,450 |
| UK (London Luton) - Burkina Faso (Ouagadougou) | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £16,650 |

| UK (Farnborough) - Burkina Faso (Ouagadougou) | Legacy 650 | 13 seats | £22,200 |

Helicopter charter
We found no helicopter operator at Ouagadougou that we can name and verify. A helicopter carrying passengers between two Burkinabe places would normally be a local one, and flights outside the cities run into the Foreign Office advice on the regions under the state of emergency. We do not offer helicopter sectors inside Burkina Faso.

Flights from the UK to Burkina Faso
Biggin Hill and Farnborough are the south-east airfields best suited to a long sector, with Luton, Gatwick, Stansted and London City as the other London options. Manchester is 125 nautical miles further from Ouagadougou than Biggin Hill, which adds about £1,850 on a Praetor 600. The table below lists the British airports we work with:

Burkinabe charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
Six typical jobs from booking notes, with the particulars changed.
OUAGADOUGOU · SAME-DAY TURNAROUND
Two directors and one meeting
Biggin Hill - Ouagadougou and return, Praetor 600, about 5 h 45 min each way · 2 pax
The visas were arranged well ahead, the yellow fever certificates were in the hand luggage, and the handler's car met the aircraft for a daylight transfer. The aircraft left the same afternoon.
OUAGADOUGOU · A DELEGATION
Eight people and the equipment cases
London Luton - Ouagadougou, Challenger 605, about 5 h 50 min · 8 pax
Passport copies and the manifest went in with the permit request, and the operator's security briefing was agreed by everyone before the aircraft was confirmed.
ACCRA INSTEAD · A CHANGED PLAN
A team that moved the meeting
Biggin Hill - Accra, Praetor 600, about 6 h 40 min · 4 pax
The team had asked for Ouagadougou, read the Foreign Office text and held the meeting in Accra instead, with the other side travelling to them.
A POSTING · WITH THE DOG
A couple relocating for work
Southampton - Ouagadougou, Legacy 650, about 5 h 40 min · 2 pax + dog
The French translation of the health certificate and the rabies blood test for the British return were done before the outward flight.
OUAGADOUGOU · HOURS ON THE GROUND
A late arrival that moved to midday
Manchester - Ouagadougou, Praetor 600, about 6 h · 5 pax
The client wanted an evening landing, but one source listed the airport as open until 15:30 UTC and the handler could not confirm customs later, so the arrival moved to midday.
EMPTY LEG · AFTER THE RAINS
A flexible return from Ouagadougou
Ouagadougou - Birmingham, Challenger 605 empty leg, about 5 h 55 min · 5 pax
The client gave a window of three days instead of a date and paid about £21,600, a little under half of a fresh one-way charter on the same sector.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Burkina Faso
1How long does it take to fly to Burkina Faso by private jet?
About 5 hours 45 minutes from London Biggin Hill to Ouagadougou on a Praetor 600, without a stop. A light jet such as the Phenom 300E needs a fuel stop in Gran Canaria and takes about 7 hours 45 minutes.
2How much does a private jet to Burkina Faso cost?
From about £39,200 one way from Biggin Hill to Ouagadougou on a Praetor 600. A Challenger 605 on the same departure is about £50,100, and from Edinburgh it is about £55,700. Ouagadougou to Lome starts from £8,250 on a Citation XLS+.
3Can you fly me to Burkina Faso given the Foreign Office advice?
The Foreign Office advises against all travel to Burkina Faso because of the threat of terrorist attacks and kidnap and the unstable political situation, and says travel insurance could be invalidated. We found no prohibition on civil flights to the airports, but we state the advice before any quote, confirm insurance and permits in writing, and can fly you to a neighbouring capital instead.
4Which airport do private jets use in Burkina Faso?
Ouagadougou Thomas Sankara International (OUA / DFFD), about 2 km from the centre. It has a runway of about 3,000 metres, is listed as an airport of entry with customs and mandatory handling, and needs a landing permit but no slot. Opening hours differ between sources, so we confirm them in writing.
5Do British passengers need a visa for a private flight to Burkina Faso?
Yes. The Foreign Office says British citizens must have a visa, applied for online or through the Embassy of Burkina Faso in Brussels, and cannot get one in the UK. A yellow fever vaccination certificate must be shown at the border. The aircraft also needs a landing permit, typically requested well ahead.
6Can I take my dog or cat on a private jet to Burkina Faso?
Yes, with planning. A pet-travel guide says dogs and cats need a rabies vaccination at least 21 days before travel, a dog needs a microchip, and the health certificate is issued within 10 days of arrival and comes in French. The return follows the British rules for countries outside the simple scheme, including a rabies blood test.
