Hire a Private Jet to Amsterdam, Netherlands

Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands and one of the most important financial, creative and logistics hubs in northern Europe - a compact, walkable city of extraordinary cultural density that draws private aviation clients for an unusually diverse range of purposes: corporate and financial meetings with the Amsterdam financial district (the Zuidas), attendance at TEFAF Maastricht (the world's leading art and antiques fair, a short helicopter hop south), the annual Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) in October, the International Documentary Film Festival (IDFA) in November, the King's Day national celebration in April, and a leisure market built around the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, the Anne Frank House and one of the finest canal city environments in the world. Amsterdam is also one of Europe's primary logistics and port hubs: the Port of Amsterdam and the broader North Sea Canal area generate significant corporate private aviation from across Europe and the UK. Private jet charter flights to Amsterdam arrive at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS / EHAM), one of the busiest airports in Europe, located 18 km south-west of the city centre. The London to Amsterdam sector is just 200 nautical miles - approximately 52 minutes on a Phenom 300 - making it the shortest sector of any major European capital from the UK by private jet.

private jet charter Amsterdam Netherlands

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS / EHAM) is the Netherlands' primary airport and the third busiest in Europe by passenger numbers. The airport is located 18 km south-west of Amsterdam city centre in the Haarlemmermeer municipality - built, like much of the Netherlands, on reclaimed land. Private aviation at Schiphol is handled by a dedicated general aviation facility. Journey time from Schiphol to Amsterdam city centre is approximately 20 to 30 minutes by chauffeured car via the A10 ring road, or 15 minutes by direct rail connection from Schiphol Station to Amsterdam Centraal. A second private aviation option is Rotterdam The Hague Airport (RTM / EHRD), 24 nm south (approximately 21 minutes by jet from Amsterdam), which serves clients with meetings in Rotterdam, The Hague or Delft. Lelystad Airport (LEY / EHLE), located north-east of Amsterdam, is a general aviation airfield used for some private jet arrivals when Schiphol is at peak capacity. An important operational note for London to Amsterdam: at just 200 nm, this is one of the shortest major city-pair routes in European private aviation. The aircraft positioning cost - flying the jet empty to your UK departure airport - often equals or exceeds the actual flight cost, and we always check available aircraft already positioned in the UK before quoting to minimise the total.

Key Information:

  • Typical flight time from London to Amsterdam: approximately 52 minutes;
  • Private jet charter prices: from 3,800 EUR (London sector);
  • Primary airport: Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS / EHAM), 18 km south-west of city centre;
  • Alternative airport: Rotterdam The Hague (RTM / EHRD), 24 nm south - for Rotterdam, The Hague and Delft;
  • Brussels: 85 nm south - approximately 30 minutes by jet;
  • Frankfurt: 198 nm south-east - approximately 46 minutes by jet;
  • Hamburg: 205 nm north-east - approximately 47 minutes by jet;
  • Paris: 215 nm south - approximately 48 minutes by jet;
  • Most popular aircraft: Phenom 300, Citation CJ3, Citation XLS+;
  • Peak demand: TEFAF Maastricht (March), King's Day (27 April), Amsterdam Dance Event (October), IDFA (November), Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix Zandvoort (August/September).

Amsterdam draws private aviation clients across four main categories. Financial and corporate travel is driven by the Zuidas business district - home to major law firms, banks, asset managers and the Amsterdam Stock Exchange - and by the broader Dutch corporate ecosystem which includes Shell, ASML, Philips, Heineken, ING and Unilever. Art and cultural travel is significant: Amsterdam's museum concentration (Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Stedelijk, Moco, Eye Filmmuseum) and the circuit of major art events including TEFAF Maastricht (a 45-minute helicopter hop south), Art Rotterdam and PAN Amsterdam make the city a year-round destination for collectors and dealers. The Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort Circuit, 25 km west of Amsterdam, has since its return to the calendar in 2021 generated substantial private aviation demand in August or September, with Schiphol slots becoming constrained around the race weekend. And Amsterdam's leisure offer - the canal ring (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the distinctive Dutch Golden Age architecture, the concentration of world-class restaurants and the Keukenhof tulip gardens in spring - draws a consistent flow of leisure private aviation clients from the UK.

Private jet charter prices to Amsterdam from London start from approximately 3,800 EUR for the 200 nm sector. From Edinburgh and Glasgow, where the sector is 360 to 388 nm, prices start from approximately 7,200 to 8,400 EUR. The short London-Amsterdam sector means that aircraft category makes a smaller difference to total price than on longer routes - a Phenom 300 and a Challenger 300 will be closer in total cost here than on any 1,000+ nm route.

For all other periods, Amsterdam offers excellent aircraft availability and is one of the most efficiently served short-haul private jet routes from the UK.

Prices for the private jet flights to Amsterdam

Amsterdam is the closest major European capital to the UK by private jet, and this creates a pricing dynamic unlike any other city-pair on this page. At 200 nautical miles from London, the actual flight cost is modest - under one hour of flight time at any hourly rate. What drives the total charter price more than usual on this sector is the aircraft positioning cost: getting the jet to your UK departure airport in the first place. An aircraft already sitting at Farnborough or Biggin Hill the morning of your departure to Schiphol will produce a meaningfully lower quote than one that needs to travel empty from Birmingham or Bristol to reach you.

We always check what is available and positioned in the UK network before sending Amsterdam quotes, and this pre-check typically identifies the most cost-efficient option in 15 to 20 minutes. For clients with slightly flexible departure times (within a 2 to 3 hour window), this positioning efficiency can make a noticeable difference to the total.

An alternative worth considering for some Amsterdam corporate visits: the Eurostar from London St Pancras to Amsterdam Centraal takes approximately 4 hours. For a solo traveller on a simple day visit with no airport transfer complications, this is a genuine competitive alternative. Where private jet consistently wins for Amsterdam is for groups of 4 or more, for same-day return trips where airport flexibility matters, for clients departing from outside London where commercial connections are slower, and for time-critical travel where the 52-minute sector versus a Heathrow-Schiphol commercial flight (with 2 hours of airport overhead at each end) saves the better part of a working day.

The Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort in August or September creates a sharp demand spike for Schiphol slots during the race weekend. We recommend booking 6 to 8 weeks ahead for Grand Prix travel and advise on Rotterdam The Hague Airport as an alternative if Schiphol becomes constrained.

A private equity team flying to Amsterdam for a single day of management meetings at the Zuidas financial district. Departure from Biggin Hill at 07:30, on the ground at Schiphol by 08:25, in the first meeting by 09:30. Return departure 18:00, back in London by 19:00. Total door-to-door time London to Zuidas approximately 2 hours versus 4.5 hours commercially. Charter approximately 4,200 EUR each way. The aircraft was retained at Schiphol through the day at a parking fee rather than being released - this ensured the return slot and kept the total cost predictable at approximately 9,600 EUR for both sectors.
  • Manchester to Amsterdam then Brussels, Citation XLS+, 7 passengers - a Benelux business circuit. A legal team doing a two-city Benelux visit: one day of client meetings in Amsterdam, one day in Brussels. Manchester to Amsterdam (263 nm, 1 hour 1 minute) at approximately 5,600 EUR. Amsterdam to Brussels the following morning (85 nm, approximately 30 minutes) at approximately 3,200 EUR. Return Brussels to Manchester at approximately 6,800 EUR. The dachshund travelled in the cabin with full EU AHC documentation including tapeworm treatment confirmed 36 hours before departure - within the 24 to 120 hour window required for entry into the Netherlands. The following morning, a helicopter from Amsterdam to Maastricht (approximately 35 minutes) was arranged separately. On the way home, the collector acquired three works at the fair - we coordinated with a fine art freight specialist for the transport of the pieces alongside the passenger return.
  • Birmingham to Amsterdam, Phenom 300E, 6 passengers - Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE). A music industry group attending ADE - the world's largest electronic music conference and festival, held in Amsterdam every October. Birmingham to Amsterdam (239 nm, 57 minutes) at approximately 5,800 EUR. The group requested a specific catering brief: no alcohol on the outbound, sparkling water and coffee only - they wanted to pace themselves for the week ahead. Return on the Sunday evening at approximately 5,400 EUR. Both sectors on a Phenom 300E which had previously delivered clients to Edinburgh and was already positioning south through the UK, significantly reducing the positioning cost on the outbound leg.

The examples above are recent indicative charters. Your quote will depend on the current season, aircraft positioning, passenger numbers and any additional services requested.

Amsterdam private jet charter - FAQ

How long is a private jet flight from London to Amsterdam?
A private jet from London to Amsterdam takes approximately 52 minutes on the 200 nautical mile sector - the shortest major European capital route from the UK by private jet. From Edinburgh approximately 1 hour 13 minutes. From Manchester approximately 1 hour 1 minute. Every jet category from turboprops to large cabin jets operates this sector comfortably.

How much does a private jet to Amsterdam cost?
Private jet charter to Amsterdam from London starts from approximately 3,800 EUR on a Phenom 300 for up to 5 passengers. A Citation XLS+ for 8 passengers costs approximately 5,400 EUR from London. From Edinburgh and Glasgow, prices start from approximately 7,400 to 9,600 EUR. Amsterdam is one of the most competitively priced private jet routes from the UK due to the very short sector distance.

Is a private jet worth it for such a short sector to Amsterdam?
Yes, particularly for groups. For 5 or more passengers, the total cost of a private jet from London is comparable to business class returns when you factor in ground transport at both ends and the total journey time. The private jet saves approximately 3 to 4 hours of total travel time versus a commercial London Heathrow to Schiphol option when airport overhead is included, and allows departure from smaller London airports such as Farnborough or Biggin Hill which have faster passenger processing.

Which airport is better for Amsterdam - Schiphol or Rotterdam?
For Amsterdam city meetings, Schiphol (AMS / EHAM) is the standard choice, 18 km from the city centre and 20 to 30 minutes by car. Rotterdam The Hague Airport (RTM / EHRD) is better for clients with meetings in Rotterdam, The Hague or Delft, and is less congested than Schiphol during major events such as the Dutch Grand Prix. Eindhoven Airport (EIN) serves clients with connections to ASML, the Brainport technology cluster or the broader North Brabant region.

When is the most expensive time to fly to Amsterdam?
The Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort (August or September) creates the most concentrated demand spike at Schiphol - book 6 to 8 weeks ahead for race weekend travel. TEFAF Maastricht (March), King's Day on 27 April and the Amsterdam Dance Event in October create secondary demand periods. For most of the year Amsterdam offers excellent availability and competitive pricing.

Can I combine Amsterdam with Brussels and Paris on the same charter?
Yes. Brussels is 85 nm from Amsterdam (approximately 30 minutes by jet) and Paris is 215 nm (approximately 48 minutes). Amsterdam-Brussels-Paris Benelux triangles are among the most frequently arranged multi-city itineraries we handle from UK clients. We arrange the full circuit as a single connected charter.

Do UK citizens need a visa for the Netherlands?
No. UK citizens can visit the Netherlands for up to 90 days within any 180-day period without a visa. A valid UK passport is required. Private jet passengers clear customs and immigration at the Schiphol general aviation facility on arrival.

Amsterdam - destination overview

Amsterdam is one of Europe's most distinctive cities - a capital that punches far above its weight in finance, culture and international influence relative to its compact physical size. The city's historical wealth, accumulated during the Dutch Golden Age of the 17th century when the Dutch East India Company (VOC) made Amsterdam the centre of a global trading empire, is visible everywhere: in the extraordinary ring of canal houses (Grachtengordel) that forms the UNESCO World Heritage core of the city, in the collections of the Rijksmuseum and the Mauritshuis in The Hague, and in the urban planning discipline that has allowed the city to remain liveable at the density of a modern European capital.

The physical layout of Amsterdam is one of its defining characteristics. The city is built on a system of concentric canals constructed in the 17th century as planned residential and commercial waterways. The Prinsengracht, Keizersgracht and Herengracht - the three principal canals of the Grachtengordel - are lined with narrow-fronted brick townhouses, their distinctive stepped or bell gables reflected in the water. The canal ring is best experienced slowly: by canal boat, by bicycle (Amsterdam has more bicycles than residents) or on foot, pausing at the bridges and the flower market on the Singel. The neighbourhood of Jordaan, on the western edge of the canal ring, has become the city's most desirable residential area and is home to many of the best smaller restaurants, galleries and independent shops.

Amsterdam's museum concentration is extraordinary for a city of 900,000 people. The Rijksmuseum holds the world's greatest collection of Dutch Golden Age painting, including Rembrandt's Night Watch and Vermeer's The Milkmaid. The Van Gogh Museum, in the adjacent Museumplein, holds the world's largest collection of Van Gogh paintings. The Stedelijk Museum covers modern and contemporary art from the late 19th century to the present. The Moco Museum in a historic villa on the Museumplein brings Banksy, Basquiat and major contemporary works to a younger audience. And the Eye Filmmuseum, across the IJ waterway from Centraal Station, is one of the finest cinema archive and exhibition spaces in the world.

  • Hotel de l'Europe - a grand 19th-century property on the Amstel river at the edge of the canal ring, with views across to the Munttoren. One of Amsterdam's oldest and most prestigious addresses. Approximately 25 minutes from Schiphol by car.
  • Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam - six interconnected Golden Age canal houses on the Herengracht, converted into a luxury hotel with exceptional canal-house architecture preserved throughout. Approximately 25 minutes from Schiphol.
  • Conservatorium Hotel - a landmark conversion of a 19th-century bank building in the Museumplein district, with a striking interior by Piero Lissoni and one of Amsterdam's best hotel spas. Approximately 20 minutes from Schiphol.
  • Pulitzer Amsterdam - 25 historic canal houses on the Prinsengracht and Keizersgracht connected to form a single hotel, with a labyrinthine interior of courtyards and corridors. Approximately 25 minutes from Schiphol.
  • The Dylan Amsterdam - a discreet boutique property on the Keizersgracht in an 18th-century building, with individually decorated rooms and one of Amsterdam's most celebrated restaurants (Vinkeles). Approximately 25 minutes from Schiphol.

Our team can arrange chauffeured transfers from Schiphol to any Amsterdam property, and coordinate canal boat transfers for clients staying on the waterways. For clients attending TEFAF in Maastricht, we also advise on Maastricht hotel options and arrange the helicopter or private jet connection south from Amsterdam.
