Private jet charter in Pisa
A private jet leaving the London fields reaches Pisa in about two hours, and from there the clock that matters is the one on the road: Lucca is half an hour from the apron, Florence about an hour and twenty minutes. Private Jets UK arranges the charter around whichever of those you are heading for. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Pisa looks simple on a map and is less so on the field. Galileo Galilei shares its runways with the Italian Air Force, Florence has a runway too short for much of the fleet, and handling is compulsory at both, so the real decisions are the airport, the cabin and the week.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Pisa depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Pisa?
A little over two hours from Biggin Hill in a light jet, two and a half from Newcastle or Edinburgh, and one hour of clock difference to remember on arrival, because Italy keeps Central European time. At 650 to 960 nautical miles this is a classic short-haul sector: long enough that a light jet is a proper sit, short enough that nobody needs a heavy cabin to make it. The table gives the sector from each British field we use.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall
Leave a London airfield at seven in the morning and you are on the ground at Pisa a little after ten local time. The Pisa Mover shuttle takes five minutes from the terminal to Pisa Central station, but a private party is in a car, and Lucca is about 37 km and half an hour away on the motorway. Allow the drive to the British airfield and quick processing at both ends, and a client who left a London office at half past six can be at a lunch table in a Tuscan town before one. Florence takes longer, about 85 km and roughly an hour and twenty minutes, and the Florence morning rush can add 15 to 20 minutes.
Light jet or midsize: the question that actually comes up on this route
– Up to about four people with ordinary bags, a light jet is the right answer. A villa week changes the arithmetic, because golf bags, wine cases on the way home and children's luggage fill a CJ3+ hold faster than the seat count suggests;
– Past four people or with children and a lot of luggage, we quote a midsize jet alongside it. Florence is where this matters: its runway is about 1,560 m, so light and midsize jets are the realistic choice there, and larger aircraft normally use Pisa;
– Heavy aircraft make sense for a large family or corporate group, or when the same jet stays with you for a Mediterranean loop. Pisa has a main runway of about 3,000 m and takes anything we send.

Tuscany from the air: when the second airport is the better one
Florence is only 37 nautical miles from Pisa, so nobody flies between them, but it matters as a choice of landing. Peretola is a few kilometres from the old town and about 15 minutes by car in light traffic, against about an hour and twenty minutes from Pisa. The price is a single runway of about 1,560 m, prior permission for every flight, a coordinated slot system and compulsory handling. Siena has its own small airfield at Ampugnano, 13 km from the city, but it is daylight-only, visual-approach, restricted for turbojets and not an airport of entry, so in practice it is a turboprop destination reached after clearing Italy somewhere else. For most villa and wine trips the practical answer is to land at Pisa and drive or take a helicopter.
Before you accept a Tuscan onward quote
– Which airport, and who can fly it. Florence asks for permission on every flight, Grosseto does not authorise civil night operations and wants 24 hours' notice, and Elba and Lucca are short strips. A quote that ignores these is a quote that will change;
– Whether the itinerary is one booking. Pisa to Elba for the weekend and back, or on to Olbia, costs noticeably less arranged as a single trip, because the aircraft and crew stay with you instead of repositioning to Pisa between each stop.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Pisa:
Light jets, and where most bookings land
At around two hours this is the sensible class for four or five people with ordinary luggage. Nothing here lacks the range for Pisa, so the money goes on the hour rather than on capability you will not use.
Midsize, for villa parties and wine-case luggage
A week at a Tuscan villa comes with golf bags, children, a dog and, on the way back, cases of wine. That luggage is what pushes a party past the light-jet hold, and it is the usual reason for the step up.
Super-midsize and large
For a family or delegation travelling as one party, for a team that needs to work in the air, and for trips that carry on from Pisa to the Gulf or across the Atlantic rather than turning round.
Turboprops
The right aircraft for the island and coast legs: Elba is under an hour in a turboprop, and the saving over a jet on that distance is large. Elba and Lucca are short strips, which also rules out most jets.
Helicopters
Not for the flight from Britain but for the last stretch: a vineyard or castle in Chianti, a wedding venue, the coast at Versilia. Where a helicopter may put down is regulated, so the site is agreed before the quote.

This is a small part of what is available. Pisa draws on the Italian fleet, so for a booking outside the June weekends and the summer peak there is often an aircraft already within an hour of Galileo Galilei, in Milan, Rome or Nice, and that is frequently where the better price comes from.

Business aviation airports in Pisa and Tuscany
One airport does most of the work, a second matters for a city stay, and the others are small. It helps to know all of them before a quote arrives with one of them in it.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Pisa Galileo Galilei PSA / LIRP |
The answer for most trips. It sits in the Arno plain just south of Pisa, with two parallel runways, the longer about 3,000 m, and an ILS. It is an airport of entry with customs, open round the clock, and shared with the Italian Air Force (the 46th Air Brigade flies C-130 and C-27J transports from here). Delta Aerotaxi, trading as Italy FBO, has a VIP lounge and crew lounge, and Sky Services is also listed. Slots and handling are required |
| Florence Peretola FLR / LIRQ |
The airport for a stay in the city, a few kilometres north-west of it. One runway of about 1,560 m, so light and midsize jets rather than large cabins. Customs on site, but every flight needs prior permission, the airport is slot-coordinated and handling is compulsory. Published hours are limited, with permission needed outside them |
| Grosseto Baccarini GRS / LIRS |
A joint civil and military field about 3 km west of the town and some 14 km from the Tyrrhenian coast, with a runway of roughly 3,000 m. Airport of entry, but all flights need 24 hours' prior permission and civil night operations are not authorised. Useful for southern Tuscany when Pisa is a long drive away |
| Siena Ampugnano LIQS |
About 13 km south-west of Siena, with a runway of roughly 1,390 m. Daylight only with 24 hours' notice, visual approaches only and landing on runway 18 prohibited for turbojets. Not an airport of entry, so a flight from Britain clears Italy elsewhere first. In practice a turboprop airfield |
| Elba, Marina di Campo EBA / LIRJ |
The island airfield, about 2 km from the town. A runway of roughly 940 m limits it to turboprops and small business jets such as the PC-12 or a Phenom 100, depending on load and weather, and a broker listing gives its hours as on request |
| Lucca Tassignano LCV / LIQL |
A small field about 6 km south-east of the walled city, with a runway of roughly 880 m and listed hours of 09:00 to 19:00. Light aircraft and helicopters rather than jets; most Lucca trips land at Pisa and drive for half an hour |
Four points settle most Pisa arrivals:
Choose the handler
Handling is compulsory at Pisa, so there is no going without one. Delta Aerotaxi, trading as Italy FBO, runs the VIP lounge, crew lounge and Q8 fuelling, and Sky Services is also listed for service through the main terminal. Prices differ, so we ask the operator for its preference and put one name in the quote.
Hours, slots and the Air Force
The tower works round the clock and slots are required. General aviation needs prior permission, and one directory lists the FBO desk as 07:00 to 22:00 on weekdays with night noise abatement, so a late arrival or a weekend is confirmed in writing. Italian Air Force training flights share the field and some taxiways are military only.
Border and passport
Italy is in Schengen and Britain is not, so passport control and customs are done at the airport on arrival. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport issued less than ten years ago and valid three months beyond departure. A first-time visitor may be asked for a photograph and fingerprints.
Car and the Florence rush
Give us the handler as well as the flight, so the driver waits at the right door. Tuscan roads are fast until Florence, where the morning and evening rush adds 15 to 20 minutes to any transfer that passes it. On festival and Palio days, book the return car with the outbound.

Border, passport and where to clear
Clear Italy at the airport you land at, and the rest of the trip is inside Schengen with no further control. That is why it makes sense to land at Pisa even when the destination is Siena or a small island strip: Pisa is an airport of entry with customs, while Siena is not, and an arrival from Britain needs to enter Italy through one that is.

From the apron to the Leaning Tower
Pisa itself is small and flat, and the airport is on its doorstep. Almost everything a visitor wants is somewhere else in Tuscany, so the useful numbers are the drives outward, to the walled city of Lucca, to the Versilia coast, to Florence and to the hill towns.
the airport's own Pisa Mover shuttle; a private party usually goes by car5 minutes

Flying to Pisa with a dog or a cat
Italy asks for more paperwork than the flight takes, and the flight is short enough that most animals sleep through it. The animal sits beside you in the cabin. What matters is that the certificate is dated correctly, because it has a ten-day life from the day it is issued, and that the vet appointment for the return is booked before you leave Tuscany.

What the EU rules ask for on the way in:
- A microchip, fitted before or at the same time as the rabies vaccination and never after it;
- A rabies vaccination given when the animal was at least 12 weeks old, with 21 days elapsed before entry;
- An Animal Health Certificate from an Official Veterinarian, issued for this trip and valid for ten days for entry to the EU;
- A written declaration that the movement is non-commercial, signed by the owner;
- No more than five animals per traveller, presented at a travellers' point of entry, which we confirm in writing together with the paperwork before the flight;
- For dogs, a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before the return flight to Britain, recorded in the pet travel document. Cats are exempt.
What catches owners out on the Pisa run
– Italy asks for no tapeworm treatment on the way in, only before the way home, so it is a vet appointment you book in Tuscany, towards the end of the stay, and not something you do before leaving. Ask the villa or hotel for a vet in Lucca or Pisa when you book;
– A pet passport issued in England, Scotland or Wales cannot be used to enter the EU. The certificate has to be a fresh one for each trip, and the rabies vaccination has to stay in date for the return;
– A turboprop or helicopter leg to Elba or Sardinia is a separate decision. The operator of each aircraft has to agree to the animal, so settle it before the quote and not at the aircraft door.
Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide, and our managers confirm the position in writing for your dates before a booking is taken.
The Pisa calendar: a city of June, with Lucca and Florence around it
Pisa has one great month and a quiet shape around it. The festivals cluster in June, the summer is the peak season for business aviation at the airport, and the hill-town and truffle weekends fill the autumn. Knowing which week you want matters more than choosing an aircraft.
Why a festival week costs more
Not the flying. The Italian light and midsize fleet is large and Pisa is well placed in it. What gets tight is the airport itself, because a shared civil and military field with compulsory handling and required slots does not stretch, and Florence's permission system leaves little spare room. Cars, villas and hotel rooms go in the same week. A booking made a fortnight before the Luminara or a Pitti week can still be done, but it pays more and may use an aircraft positioned from Milan or Rome. The same booking made five or six weeks earlier is simpler and cheaper. Outside those weeks Tuscany is easy to fly into, and a charter can usually be arranged in a day or two.
Ways to bring the Pisa price down
- Move the dates a few days where you can. The first half of October is calm, and so are the weeks of early spring, when the weather is good and the fashion fairs are not on;
- Ask where the aircraft is based. A jet already in Milan, Rome or Nice takes less positioning than one from Britain, and on a sector of this length positioning is a meaningful share of the bill;
- Choose Pisa unless the meeting is truly in central Florence. Pisa has fewer restrictions and a runway that takes every aircraft, and the extra drive is cheaper than an aircraft change.
Types of flights
Pisa produces a different mix from the cities on the Alpine or Riviera side of Italy, because the airport leans towards leisure, and the leisure is of a particular kind: long, planned, villa-based.
- Villa and wine weekends in Chianti, the Val d'Orcia and the Val d'Elsa, usually with a helicopter or a driver at the other end;
- The Versilia coast: Forte dei Marmi and Viareggio, where the yards that build large yachts, such as Azimut Benetti and Perini Navi, bring owners and crews as well as holidaymakers;
- Florence business and fashion, flown to Peretola when the aircraft is light or midsize and to Pisa when it is not;
- Festival and opera trips to Lucca, Torre del Lago and Pisa in summer;
- Island and coast hops to Elba and Sardinia, and loops that take in the Riviera;
- Day trips from London, which at about two hours each way are a long day but a workable one.
The day trip is worth a closer look. A same-day return means the aircraft and crew wait for you rather than going home, and that waiting is paid for, but it usually still comes out cheaper than two separate one-way charters. Leaving at seven and coming back at nine in the evening gives you a working day in Tuscany and a bed in your own house, and on this route we quote it both ways so the difference is visible.
Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. On the Pisa route they come from the pattern of weekends and festivals, and it helps to know what produces them.
Where Pisa empty legs come from
– Summer weekends. Aircraft bring parties to the Tuscan coast and villas on Friday and go back to their bases on the Sunday, and that evening leg is the one most often offered;
– Festival weeks. When an event such as the Giugno Pisano or a fashion week fills the city, aircraft arrive for one party and leave empty for the next, which produces outbound legs in the days around it;
– Island rotation. Through the summer operators move aircraft between Tuscany, Sardinia and the Riviera, and the short Italian legs between them can be cheap.
Because the Pisa corridor is thinner than the busiest London routes, a client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. What you give up is the usual: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Pisa match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
In Tuscany a helicopter is a tool for the edges of a trip and not the middle. The art cities are small enough to cross by car, and the places where rotary flight changes the journey are the hill country, the coast and the islands.
against about an hour and twenty by road, our estimate for a helicopter at cruiseabout 25 minutes
against nearly an hour and forty by roadabout 30 minutes
the island flown in one hop, where twin-engine machines are the sensible choice over waterabout 35 minutes
Chianti, Val d'Orcia, Montalcino, Pienza and San Gimignano, some with landings at castles and wineries for tastingsby arrangement
Florence, Pisa, Siena and Lucca from the air, including the dome and the Leaning Towerby arrangement
Before you plan around a helicopter
– A helicopter cannot land wherever it likes. Landing at a villa, a winery or a hotel garden normally needs the site and its permission confirmed before we quote, not after;
– Weather sets the schedule. Low cloud and summer haze in the hills can stop a helicopter on a day when the jet lands without trouble, so a hill-town transfer needs a road alternative planned into the same day;
– Over water or across high ground, twin-engine machines are the sensible minimum. For Palio days, wedding Saturdays and the Luminara, book the helicopter together with the jet or expect to be told there is no rotary capacity.
The machines on this ground are the Airbus H125 for hill work, the wider H130 for scenic and villa transfers, the H135 and the Bell 429 where a twin is wanted, and the H155 for larger parties. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable.

Pisa charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
DAY TRIP · OUT AND BACK
A Tuscan lunch meeting and home for dinner
Biggin Hill - Pisa and return, Citation CJ3+, about 2 h 05 min each way · 4 pax
Wheels up at seven, on the ground at Pisa a little after ten local time, a car to Lucca and a working lunch by half past twelve. The aircraft and crew waited at the airport rather than going home, which is a real line in the quote and usually still comes in below two separate one-way charters. Back at Biggin Hill in the evening. It is a long day and it works.
FASHION WEEK · THE SHORTER RUNWAY
Two buyers and a rail of samples for a Florence fair
Farnborough - Florence, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 05 min · 5 pax
The client wanted the Fortezza da Basso and not a drive from Pisa, so we quoted Peretola. The aircraft was a midsize jet, comfortable on a runway of about 1,560 m, and the prior permission and the slot were requested together with the booking. Heavy luggage went on the jet, not on a train.
VILLA WEEK · THE LUGGAGE BOOKED THE CABIN
Eight people, golf bags and a week in Chianti
London Luton - Pisa, Citation Latitude, about 2 h 00 min · 8 pax
Two families, children, clubs and a pile of bags. The quote moved up a class for the hold and not for the seats. A pair of cars met the aircraft at the handler, and a helicopter took the grandparents to the villa lawn while the rest drove. The return left on Saturday morning with the wine in the hold.
PALIO WEEKEND · THE OTHER AIRPORT LOST
A group for the Palio di Siena
London City - Pisa, Citation CJ3+, about 2 h 05 min · 4 pax + helicopter
They asked for a flight to Siena. Ampugnano is a small daylight airfield with turbojet restrictions and is not an airport of entry, so we landed at Pisa, cleared customs there and flew on by helicopter. Same day, one handler and a lot less time in a car on a day when Siena is crowded.
LUCCA CHRISTMAS · A DOG ON BOARD
Four adults and a spaniel for a December weekend
Bristol - Pisa, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 10 min · 4 pax + dog
The Animal Health Certificate had to be dated inside ten days of arrival, and the vet appointment in Lucca for the tapeworm treatment had to fall between 24 and 120 hours before the flight home. We booked both with the aircraft, the hotel took the dog, and the whole thing was settled in a single exchange of messages rather than three.
EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY EVENING NORTH
A jet already going your way
Pisa - London Luton, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 2 h 00 min · 3 pax
The aircraft had brought a party to the Versilia coast for the weekend and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for a Sunday evening departure to the London fields.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Pisa
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Pisa?
About 2 hours 5 minutes from Biggin Hill or London City in a light jet, and around 2 hours from Luton or Farnborough in a Phenom, covering roughly 650 to 680 nautical miles. From Birmingham, Manchester or Bristol allow about 2 hours 10 to 2 hours 20, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow around 2 hours 35 to 2 hours 40. Pisa is one hour ahead of Britain, so a seven o'clock departure lands shortly after ten local time.
2How much does a private jet to Pisa cost?
From about £9,250 one way on a light jet out of Biggin Hill, and £9,700 from Luton on a Phenom. A midsize cabin runs £12,700 to £13,650 from Bristol, the Midlands and Manchester, and from Scotland allow £19,550 to £19,950. The June festival weeks, the summer peak and the truffle weekends price above these figures.
3Should a private jet use Pisa or Florence airport?
Pisa Galileo Galilei (PSA / LIRP) for most trips: it is an airport of entry with customs, has a main runway of about 3,000 m and takes every aircraft type. Florence Peretola (FLR / LIRQ) is closer to the city, but its single runway is about 1,560 m, every flight needs prior permission, slots are coordinated and handling is compulsory, so it suits light and midsize jets and early planning.
4When should I book a private jet to Pisa?
Outside the peaks a day or two is usually enough. For the Giugno Pisano in June, the Pitti Uomo weeks in January and June, the Palio di Siena in July and August and the truffle weekends in November, allow four to six weeks. Slots, handling and cars all get tight in the same days, and a late booking tends to pay more for an aircraft positioned from another country.
5Can I fly on from Pisa to Elba, Siena or Sardinia?
Yes. Elba is a short turboprop sector into a strip of roughly 940 m, and Olbia in Sardinia is within an hour in a light jet. The airfield at Siena is a small daylight strip with turbojet restrictions, so we land at Pisa, clear customs and continue by road or helicopter, which is about 30 minutes in the air against nearly an hour and forty by car. A helicopter to Chianti or San Gimignano is arranged together with the jet.
6Can I take my dog to Pisa on a private jet?
Yes. The dog travels in the cabin with you, and the EU rules ask for a microchip, a rabies vaccination at least 21 days old, an Animal Health Certificate issued for the trip and valid ten days for entry, and a non-commercial declaration. For the return to Britain a dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before landing. Cats are exempt from the treatment.
