A Great Britain pet passport cannot be used for entry, and no more than five animals may travel with one person.

The way home is simpler than from most places. French Guiana is on the gov.uk list of listed countries, so the animal can come back with a pet passport, an animal health certificate or a Great Britain pet health certificate, and no blood test is asked for. A dog needs tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 hours and 5 days before landing in Britain, and the certificate is checked against the date of the flight home.

If the rules are not met on the way back, the animal can be placed in quarantine for up to four months.
