Private jet charter in Carpi
Carpi has no airport that takes a jet, and a charter from London to this town in Emilia is really a choice between Bologna, Parma and Verona plus a car or a helicopter for the last stretch. Private Jets UK builds the trip around that choice. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Carpi, in the province of Modena, has no commercial or business jet airport of its own, so the aircraft lands at Bologna, about 60 km away by road, and the town is reached on the ground. The smaller fields near Modena and Reggio Emilia take light aircraft only. Everything else, from the handler to the customs hour, follows from the airport you pick.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Carpi depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Carpi?
Just under two hours from Biggin Hill or London City in a light jet, and just under two and a half from Edinburgh or Glasgow. Italy keeps Central European time, one hour ahead of Britain, so the clock moves on while you fly. Carpi itself has no runway for these aircraft, so every figure below is the sector to Bologna Guglielmo Marconi (BLQ), the airport we plan around, at 633 to 942 nautical miles from the British fields we use. The drive to Carpi comes after the landing and is not in the flying time. The table gives the sector from each field.

Door to door, and why Carpi is not on the flight plan
Leave a London airfield at seven in the morning and you touch down at Bologna a little before ten local time. Carpi lies on the Emilian plain north of Modena, and the local tourist guide puts Bologna airport at about 60 km, Verona at about 80 km and Milan Linate at about 170 km, while Modena is about 18 km from the town. On the ground, that makes Bologna the realistic gateway, with Parma the nearer alternative on the western side. A client who left a London office at half past six can be in Carpi before noon, provided the car is waiting at the general aviation terminal and not at the main hall.
Light jet or midsize: how the choice usually goes on this route
– Up to four people with ordinary bags, take a light jet. Under two hours in a CJ3+ is easy flying, and the money saved against a midsize cabin pays for the driver and a dinner in Modena;
– Past four, or when the party plans to shop, we quote a midsize alongside. Carpi is a knitwear town with many factory shops, and the return leg has a habit of carrying more than the outbound one. A cabin with a real hold earns its fare on those trips;
– A heavy jet is for a large delegation, or for the case when the same aircraft stays with you through several stops across Italy. Runway length is not the issue: Bologna has 2,800 m, and every aircraft we send fits comfortably.

Private jet flights from the Carpi area
Bologna is a convenient starting point for the north of Italy, and the hops from it are short. Venice is about half an hour in the air and Milan about 45 minutes, Nice and Geneva lie over the Alps, and Munich and Paris sit at the end of a longer business sector. Typical one-way prices from Bologna:

Onward from Bologna: when the aircraft wins and when the car does
Milan Linate is 105 nautical miles away, about 45 minutes in a Pilatus PC-12, and for a single passenger with a laptop a train or a car is often the simpler answer. The aircraft earns its place when several people travel together, when the schedule has no gaps, or when the onward leg ends somewhere the train does not go. Venice is 77 nautical miles, Rome Ciampino 181, Nice 191, Geneva 251, Munich 239 and Paris Le Bourget 468. Italy, France, Germany and Switzerland are all inside the Schengen area, so the first landing carries the formalities and the hops after it are free of passport control.
Before you accept an onward quote from Emilia
– Which airport at the far end, and what it can do for you. Venice and Nice fill up at weekends in summer, and handling and parking are checked before the quote is written, not after it;
– Whether the legs are one booking. London to Bologna, on to Nice and home over four days costs noticeably less arranged as one trip, because the aircraft and crew stay with you instead of going back to base between stops.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Carpi:
Light jets, the usual choice for four or five people
Under two hours in the air, so this is a sector for a small party with ordinary luggage. The runway at Bologna takes all of them, which leaves the budget for the car and for the lunch that always follows a morning landing.
Midsize, for a factory-shop weekend or a team with samples
Fabric, sample cases and a long weekend of purchases fill a hold quickly, and Carpi is the kind of town where people leave with more than they came with. A midsize cabin gives the space without the cost of a large jet.
Super-midsize and large
For a delegation that wants to work in the air, a group moving as one party, or a trip that carries on from Emilia to the Gulf or the Riviera. The stand is what we reserve first, not the runway.
Turboprops
The right aircraft for the hops out of Bologna: Milan, Venice and the Riviera are an hour or less, and the saving over a jet on those distances is large.
Helicopters
Not for the flight from Britain but for the last stretch from Bologna to Carpi, or from Carpi to a motor museum or a vineyard. Where a helicopter may land is agreed before the quote.

This is a small part of what is available. The aircraft we propose is not always based at the airport where you land. Milan and Venice are within an hour of Bologna by air, so a quote may name one of those cities as the positioning point. That is normal for a regional route, and it is frequently where the better price comes from.

Business aviation airports for Carpi
Carpi has no jet airport, and the answer to "which airport" depends on where in the area you are sleeping and what the aircraft can do. Three airports carry the jets. Two small fields nearer to the town take light aircraft only, and Milan is a long way off.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Bologna, Guglielmo Marconi BLQ / LIPE |
The answer for almost every trip to Carpi. A single runway, 12/30, of 2,800 m by 45 m, about 6 km north-west of Bologna, and about 60 km from Carpi by the local guide. Private flights use the General Aviation Terminal run by TAG Bologna, with direct access to the aircraft, its own security checkpoints, meeting rooms, catering, a Jet A1 refuelling point on its own 22,000 square metre apron and a 2,000 square metre hangar. TAG states that its services, refuelling included, are available 24 hours a day, last-minute requests included. Customs are available and handling is mandatory |
| Parma, Giuseppe Verdi PMF / LIMP |
The nearer alternative from the west, about 2.4 km north-west of Parma, with a runway, 02/20, of 2,122 m and about 47 km from Carpi in a straight line. One airport directory lists its hours as 05:30 to 22:30 UTC with other times on three days notice, customs and immigration round the clock on notice, no slot requirement, and prior permission for parking for every general aviation flight. On the same light jet from Biggin Hill the sector is priced about £500 below Bologna. Choose it when the meeting is in Parma or Reggio Emilia, or when Bologna has no stand for the day |
| Verona, Valerio Catullo VRN / LIPX |
The fallback from the north, about 80 km from Carpi by the local guide. A single runway, 04/22, of 3,068 m with a Category IIIb approach and a fog dispersal system, which is why it matters in winter when the plain is closed in by mist. Open round the clock according to one airport directory, with customs available and compulsory handling by Sky Services or Delta Aerotaxi. Choose it when the programme includes Verona, Lake Garda or Mantua, or when fog has closed Bologna |
| Modena-Marzaglia LIPM |
The aeroclub field at Marzaglia, about 18 km from Carpi in a straight line, with a short asphalt runway, 11/29, of about 800 m. One directory lists limited opening hours with permission needed outside them, no tower, no fuel and no customs. Light aircraft only, and not a landing for a jet or for a flight arriving from Britain |
| Reggio Emilia, Ferdinando Bonazzi LIDE |
A small civil airfield about 20 km from Carpi in a straight line, with an asphalt runway, 11/29, of about 1,200 m. One directory lists it from 08:00 UTC to 30 minutes after sunset, mandatory handling and no customs. It suits light aircraft on a hop within Italy, not an arrival from Britain |
| Milan Linate and Bergamo LIN / LIML · BGY / LIME |
The two Milan options, about 170 km from Carpi by road for Linate, according to the local guide. Both are busy scheduled airports and are worth considering only when the programme starts in Milan. We would not fly a Carpi trip into Milan unless the party also has business there |
Four things to settle before a landing in Emilia:
The terminal and the handler
At Bologna the general aviation terminal is run by TAG Bologna, which handles private jets and helicopters on the same runway as the airlines. Handling is compulsory and is arranged with the quote. At Verona the names are Sky Services and Delta Aerotaxi, and at Parma handling is also mandatory. Give the driver the terminal as well as the flight, because the general aviation side is separate from the main passenger building.
Hours, slots and permits
TAG states that its services are available 24 hours a day. Bologna is listed as a slot-coordinated airport, so we send the stand request together with the flight details. A British operator running a charter is a third-country carrier, so ENAC, the Italian civil aviation authority, authorises the flight as well; for aircraft with fewer than 20 passenger seats that is a blanket or single-flight permit, requested at least three working days ahead. We track the permit for you.
Border and passport
Italy is in Schengen and Britain is not, so you clear the border at the first Italian landing. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport less than ten years old and valid for three months beyond departure. A first-time visitor may be asked to register a photograph and fingerprints at the EU border system, which is free.
Late nights and fog
Bologna works round the clock, which makes a late arrival simple to plan. Parma closes at night and needs notice outside its hours. In winter the plain around Carpi can be shut in by mist, and Verona, with its fog dispersal system, is the usual fallback, so we name it in the quote as the alternate for a winter booking.

Border, passport and the roads to Carpi
The first landing in the Schengen area is where the formalities happen, and for Carpi that is Bologna, Parma or Verona. The small fields at Modena and Reggio Emilia are not airports of entry, so a flight from Britain does not land there first. After the first landing the borders disappear: a hop on to Venice, Nice or Geneva is a Schengen sector with no passport control, though a document check can still happen at a hotel or on the road. From Bologna the guide gives about 60 km to Carpi, and Modena sits about 18 km from the town on the road to the south. For the return, the General Aviation Report for Britain is filed not earlier than 48 hours and not later than 2 hours before departure, and passengers who are neither British nor Irish and need no visa for Britain must hold an Electronic Travel Authorisation. Hotels register foreign guests with the police, so keep your passport with you at check-in; a guest who is not staying in a hotel must declare their presence to the local police office within eight days.

From the apron to the Piazza dei Martiri
Carpi has about 74,000 residents and lies north of Modena, so it works as the quiet northern end of a very busy corner of Italy. The Piazza dei Martiri, about 15,000 square metres, is the third largest square in the country, lined by a portico of 52 arches, with the Palazzo dei Pio on one side and a cathedral begun in the early sixteenth century on another. What matters to a private client is what lies within a morning: the motor museums of Modena, the cheese and vinegar cellars, a Renaissance town and, further off, Mantua and Verona.

Flying to Carpi with a dog or a cat
For a pet the paperwork is the part of an Italian trip that needs planning, and the flight is the easy bit: the animal normally sits beside you in the cabin, and a sector of under two hours is short for most dogs. The date on the health certificate is the detail that goes wrong, because the certificate is valid for only ten days for entry to the EU.

What an EU country such as Italy asks for when a pet arrives from Britain:
- An ISO microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination or at the same time;
- A rabies vaccination given when the animal was at least 12 weeks old, with 21 days elapsed after the vaccination before the animal travels;
- An Animal Health Certificate for each trip, issued by an Official Veterinarian and valid for ten days for entry to the EU. A British pet passport cannot be used to enter the EU;
- No more than five animals per traveller, and entry through a travellers' point of entry, which we confirm in writing for the airport;
- For dogs, a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival back in Britain, recorded on the paperwork. Cats are exempt.
What catches owners out on the Emilia run
– Italy does not ask for tapeworm treatment on the way in, only Britain asks for it on the way home, so it is a vet appointment you book in Emilia towards the end of the stay. Count back from the departure time, because the window is 24 to 120 hours and a flight that moves by a day can move the window out of reach;
– The order of the chip and the vaccine matters. A vaccination given before the microchip does not count, and an animal that arrives without the right paperwork can be refused entry, so the certificate is checked line by line before the flight, not at the terminal;
– The long drive from Bologna to Carpi is the real stress for an animal, more than the flight. Plan a stop, take water, and keep a dog in shade on the apron while the aircraft is prepared.
Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide. For the entry point and the paperwork on the way home, we confirm both in writing before the flight, and our managers check the position for your dates before a booking is taken.
The Carpi calendar: engines in May, philosophy in September and a market twice a week
Carpi does not have a single season. It has a handful of dated events in the town and in Modena next door, and a steady background of trade, museums and food. Knowing which week you want matters more than choosing an aircraft.
Why a busy week costs more
Not the flying. The European light and midsize fleet is large and Bologna is well placed in it. What gets tight is the number of good cars and hotel rooms in Modena and Carpi, and, on the weekend of a major event, the table at the restaurant you actually wanted. A booking made two weeks before the Motor Valley Fest or the philosophy festival can still be done, but it may mean an aircraft positioned from Milan or Venice, and that costs more. The same booking made four or five weeks earlier is simpler and cheaper.
Ways to bring the Carpi price down
- Move the dates by a few days where you can. The weeks outside the Motor Valley Fest and the philosophy festival are calmer in the hotels and on the road;
- Ask where the aircraft is based. A jet that already sits in Milan or Venice takes less positioning than one coming from Britain, and on a sector of this length positioning is a meaningful part of the bill;
- Check which airport suits the plan. From Biggin Hill on the same light jet Parma is priced about £500 below Bologna and Verona about £600 below, but Verona is about 80 km from Carpi, so it makes sense only when Verona or Mantua is on the list. Parma is about 47 km from Carpi in a straight line against about 60 km by road from Bologna. If you are meeting in Carpi or Reggio Emilia, let the location of the meeting decide.
Types of flights
Carpi produces a different mix from the Riviera or the Alps, because the traffic is made by trade and by engines more than by holidays.
- Business travel to the textile and knitwear firms of Carpi and the neighbouring towns, with fixed meeting dates and a small team, sometimes timed to the ATRA exhibition in summer;
- Motor trips to the makers of the Motor Valley, with the Ferrari Museum in Maranello and the Enzo Ferrari museum in Modena at the centre, and a driver on call for the day;
- Food and wine weekends built around Parmigiano Reggiano, traditional balsamic vinegar and Lambrusco, with a dairy visit in the afternoon and an acetaia before dinner;
- Culture trips to Modena, Mantua and Verona, with the Pavarotti house museum, the Palazzo Ducale and an opera evening on the list;
- Remembrance visits to the Fossoli camp, the transit camp near Carpi, and to the museum in the town dedicated to the victims of deportation;
- Hops to Milan, Venice and the Riviera inside a longer Italian loop.
The day trip is possible and should be looked at closely. Land a little before ten local time, be in Carpi by eleven, leave at four and you are back on the British side shortly before six in the evening, UK time, with about five hours in the town. A same-day return means the aircraft and crew wait for you rather than going home, and that waiting is paid for, but it usually comes out cheaper than two separate one-way charters. We quote it both ways, so the difference is visible.
Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. Bologna does not have a single event that creates them, so they come from the pattern of the business week, and it helps to know what produces them.
Where Bologna empty legs come from
– Motor and fair weeks. Aircraft that take delegations and guests to Bologna or Parma sometimes reposition through Milan or Venice, and a leg towards Britain from there can be offered;
– Weekend trips. A party flies out on the Friday, the aircraft goes home empty, and a short outbound leg appears at the start of the weekend and another at the end;
– Business shuttles. Operators moving aircraft to and from northern Italy for a meeting put short legs on the market, and those short hops can be cheap.
Because the corridor between Britain and Bologna is thinner than the busiest London routes outside the trade weeks, a client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. What you give up is the usual: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Bologna match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
Around Carpi a helicopter earns its fare on a single leg: the last stretch from the airport. The roads are good and the towns are close together, so the saving lies in one leg only: the 60 km or so between Bologna airport and the town. TAG Bologna handles helicopters as well as jets at the general aviation terminal, so the transfer starts on the same apron.
23 nm in a straight line, against about 60 km by roadabout 20 minutes
25 nm in a straight lineabout 21 minutes
37 nm in a straight line, against about 80 km by roadabout 27 minutes
23 nm in a straight line to the Gonzaga townabout 20 minutes
Before you plan around a helicopter
– A helicopter cannot land wherever it likes. In Italy the use of occasional landing sites is notified to ENAC, the civil aviation authority, through its online portal, and a foreign pilot needs ENAC accreditation to use it. The consent of the person who manages the site is a separate matter, so we check the status of a lawn or a field before the quote is written, not after it;
– Weather sets the schedule. Fog, wind and storms can stop a helicopter on a day when the jet lands without trouble, so a transfer needs a road alternative planned into the same day;
– A transfer is worth it only where the saving is large. On the hop from Bologna to Carpi it is real, on the 18 km to Modena it is a pleasure and not a necessity, and the car or the train is the better choice.
The machines on this ground are the Airbus H125 for scenic work, the wider H130 for villa and vineyard transfers, the H135 and the Bell 429 where a twin is wanted, and the H155 for larger parties. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable.

Carpi charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
KNITWEAR · FIXED DATES
A buying team for the summer exhibition
London Luton - Bologna, Citation XLS+, about 1 h 55 min · 8 pax
The dates were set by the exhibition and not by the client. Eight people, laptops, sample cases and a request for two cars to meet the aircraft at the general aviation terminal. The booking went in four weeks ahead, the stand was confirmed with the handler, and nothing needed explaining on the day.
MOTOR VALLEY · A LONG WEEKEND
Two couples and a driver for three days
Farnborough - Bologna, Phenom 300E, about 1 h 50 min · 4 pax
The plan was the Ferrari Museum in Maranello on the first day, the Enzo Ferrari museum in Modena on the second and a dairy and an acetaia on the third afternoon. The car met the aircraft at the terminal, the base was a hotel in Modena, and the return was moved to a Monday evening, after the weekend traffic had gone.
MANTUA AND VERONA · A CULTURE TRIP
A small party who wanted three cities in a week
Southampton - Verona, Citation XLS+, about 1 h 45 min · 4 pax
They wanted Verona and Mantua with a night in Carpi in between. We landed at Verona, a driver took them on to Mantua and then to Carpi, and the return left from Bologna, which meant two airports on one booking and no wasted day on the road back.
PARMA · THE WESTERN SIDE
A family week built around food
Farnborough - Parma, Phenom 300E, about 1 h 45 min · 6 pax
They were choosing between Bologna and Parma. The base was nearer to Reggio Emilia and Parma saved part of the drive for a small difference in the fare. The question that settled it was where the beds were.
SPRING · A DOG ON BOARD
Four adults and a spaniel for a week
Birmingham - Bologna, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 05 min · 4 pax + dog
The Animal Health Certificate had to be dated inside ten days of arrival, and the vet appointment in Emilia for the tapeworm treatment had to fall between 24 and 120 hours before the flight home. We booked both with the aircraft, the hotel took the dog, and the whole thing was settled in a single exchange of messages rather than three.
EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY EVENING NORTH
A jet already going your way
Bologna - London Luton, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 1 h 50 min · 3 pax
The aircraft had brought a party in for the weekend and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for a Sunday evening departure to the London fields.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Carpi
1Does Carpi have an airport for private jets?
No. Carpi, in the province of Modena, has no commercial or business jet airport. The usual gateway is Bologna Guglielmo Marconi (BLQ), about 60 km by road according to the local guide, with a general aviation terminal that works round the clock. Parma (PMF) and Verona (VRN) are alternatives, and the small fields at Modena-Marzaglia and Reggio Emilia take light aircraft only.
2How long is a private jet flight from London to Carpi?
About 1 hour 55 minutes from London City and Biggin Hill in a light jet to Bologna, and around 1 hour 50 minutes from Luton in a Phenom, covering roughly 633 to 666 nautical miles. From Bristol, Birmingham or Manchester allow 2 hours to 2 hours 10 minutes, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow around 2 hours 25 minutes. Add about an hour by road from Bologna to Carpi, and remember that Italy is one hour ahead of Britain.
3How much does a private jet to Carpi cost?
From about £9,100 one way on a light jet out of Biggin Hill or London City into Bologna, and £9,400 to £9,500 in a Phenom from Farnborough or Luton. A midsize cabin runs £11,750 to £13,400 from the south, the Midlands and the north-west of England, and from Scotland allow £19,100 to £19,550. A week with a motor event or a festival in Modena can price above these figures.
4Which airport should a private jet use for Carpi, Bologna, Parma or Verona?
Bologna (BLQ / LIPE) for almost every trip: a 2,800 m runway, a general aviation terminal run by TAG Bologna and customs available. Parma (PMF / LIMP), with a 2,122 m runway, is the nearer alternative from the west and on the same light jet from Biggin Hill is priced about £500 below Bologna. Verona (VRN / LIPX), about 80 km from Carpi by road, has a 3,068 m runway and a fog dispersal system, and is the usual winter fallback.
5Do I need a visa or a landing permit for Carpi?
Britain is outside Schengen and Italy is inside it, so you clear passport control and customs at the first Italian landing. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport less than ten years old and valid for three months beyond departure. A British operator running a charter is a third-country carrier, so ENAC, the Italian civil aviation authority, authorises the flight as well, and for aircraft with fewer than 20 passenger seats that is a blanket or single-flight permit, requested at least three working days ahead. We track the permit together with the aircraft paperwork.
6Can I take my dog to Carpi on a private jet?
Yes. The dog normally travels in the cabin with you, and an EU country such as Italy asks for a microchip fitted before or with the rabies vaccination, a vaccination given at 12 weeks or older and at least 21 days before travel, and an Animal Health Certificate valid for ten days for entry. A British pet passport cannot be used. Italy does not ask for a tapeworm treatment on the way in, but a dog needs one from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arriving back in Britain. Cats are exempt from the treatment.
