The Bombardier Challenger 3500 is the current-production successor to the Challenger 350, announced September 2021 and entering service on 20 September 2022. It is the third in the Challenger super-midsize series - Challenger 300, Challenger 350, Challenger 3500 - and introduces technologies drawn directly from Bombardier's flagship Global 7500: the Nuage seat (the first new business aircraft seat design in 30 years, with the industry's first zero-gravity position), the Global 7500's sound insulation package, and a cabin altitude of 4,850 ft at 41,000 ft - versus approximately 7,000 ft on the Challenger 350 at the same altitude. Business Jet Traveler described the Challenger 3500 as "first in class for one reason: its cabin - large-cabin in feel, features, and attention to detail."

Model introduces the first voice-controlled cabin in business aviation: lighting, temperature, entertainment and flight information controlled by voice without requiring an internet connection, and the first haptic touch controls on cabin switches. Four 24-inch 4K monitors are the largest displays in the super-midsize category. Wireless chargers are standard throughout. The cabin air system replaces the full cabin air volume in under two minutes, the fastest fresh air delivery in class. Pro Line 21 Advanced avionics with autothrottle standard (a first for the Challenger series), MultiScan weather radar and synthetic vision provide the flight deck. Range is 3,400 nm at Mach 0.77 with four passengers; 99.8% dispatch reliability and the lowest direct operating cost in the super-midsize category. Charter prices start from approximately £4,200 per flight hour. For the full fleet see our private jet price guide or browse our complete fleet.

Why charter the Bombardier Challenger 3500?

  • Nuage seats with zero-gravity position - from the Global 7500, first time in super-midsize. It is the first super-midsize jet to feature Bombardier's Nuage seats - described as the first meaningful change in business aircraft seat design in over 30 years. The Nuage seat's zero-gravity position tilts to reduce lower-back pressure, replicating the position astronauts adopt at zero gravity. Previously exclusive to the Global 7500, the Nuage seat's arrival in the Challenger 3500 brings flagship-level seating to the super-midsize category for the first time;
  • 4,850 ft cabin altitude at 41,000 ft - versus ~7,000 ft on Challenger 350. It maintains cabin altitude at just 4,850 ft when cruising at 41,000 ft - equivalent to Denver, Colorado at ground level. The Challenger 350 sits at approximately 7,000 ft at the same altitude. This 2,150 ft improvement is the largest cabin altitude reduction of any super-midsize refresh programme and directly reduces passenger fatigue, dehydration and cognitive impairment on sectors above 3 hours. The air system also replaces the complete cabin air volume in under two minutes - the fastest fresh air delivery in its class;
  • First voice-controlled cabin in business aviation - works without internet. The Bombardier Challenger 3500 introduced the first voice-controlled cabin in business aviation history. Passengers control lighting, temperature, entertainment and flight information by voice command. Critically, the system operates without an internet connection - providing reliable voice control on remote routing and oceanic sectors where connectivity may be limited. A companion Bombardier app allows the same functions from personal devices;
  • First haptic touch controls in business aviation - industry-first cabin feedback. The Challenger 3500 introduced haptic touch technology to business aviation for the first time. All cabin control switches provide tactile feedback - similar to a smartphone tap - confirming that the command has been received. This eliminates the uncertainty of traditional push-button switches and improves the user experience for every passenger on every sector;
  • Widest cabin in the super-midsize category at 2.19 m - with Global 7500 sound insulation. The Bombardier Challenger 3500 has the widest flat-floor cabin in the super-midsize category at 2.19 m (7 ft 2 in). The sound insulation package is taken directly from the Global 7500 flagship, making the Challenger 3500 the quietest cabin in its class. Four 24-inch 4K monitors are the largest displays in the super-midsize category. Wireless chargers are provided throughout the cabin. The 99.8% dispatch reliability and lowest direct operating cost in the class are validated by the Challenger series' 900+ deliveries across the 300/350 generation;
  • Steep-approach certified for Aspen, London City and Lugano - exceptional short-field performance. The Bombardier Challenger 3500 is steep-approach certified for operations at some of the world's most constrained airports including Aspen (Colorado), London City and Lugano (Switzerland). The 4,835 ft takeoff distance and 2,364 ft landing distance provide the short-field performance that makes these airports accessible. For charter clients whose final destination is served by a regional or constrained airport, the Challenger 3500's approvals open more options than any competing super-midsize jet.

Ideal routes for the Bombardier Challenger 3500

The Bombardier Challenger 3500 is best matched to to transatlantic and Gulf missions where the Nuage zero-gravity seats, 4,850 ft cabin altitude and voice-controlled environment make long sectors genuinely restorative, for groups of 8 to 10 at the top of the super-midsize rate bracket:

  • Transatlantic non-stop (7 to 8 hours) - where cabin altitude matters most. London to New York non-stop at 4,850 ft cabin altitude versus ~7,000 ft on the Challenger 350 means passengers arrive in measurably better condition on an 8-hour crossing. The Nuage zero-gravity seats allow full recline for all passengers. Voice control manages lighting and temperature without disturbing sleeping passengers. Pro Line 21 Advanced with autothrottle and MultiScan weather radar provides the flight deck for North Atlantic routing;
  • Steep-approach airport pairs - London City, Aspen, Lugano. The Bombardier Challenger 3500 is steep-approach certified for London City Airport - enabling City of London departures that save 60 to 90 minutes of ground transfer versus Farnborough or Luton. Aspen certification is relevant for ski season and autumn leaf groups; Lugano for Swiss financial and leisure missions. No competing super-midsize jet offers the Challenger 3500's combination of these three specific steep-approach certifications together;
  • UK to Gulf non-stop (5.5 to 7 hours). Dubai, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi and Doha are within non-stop range. At 4,850 ft cabin altitude over a 6.5-hour Gulf sector, passengers arrive without the fatigue effects of higher cabin altitudes. The under-2-minute fresh air replacement system maintains cabin air quality throughout. The Nuage seat zero-gravity position is specifically useful on the Gulf sector length where passengers want to rest without fully sleeping;
  • Corporate meetings where voice-controlled environment matters. The Bombardier Challenger 3500's voice-controlled cabin - first in business aviation and internet-independent - allows groups to control their working environment hands-free throughout a meeting in flight. Voice-adjustable lighting, temperature and entertainment remove the interruption of pressing controls during a presentation or board discussion. The haptic cabin controls provide instant feedback when physical operation is preferred;
  • High-frequency programmes where 99.8% dispatch reliability and lowest DOC matter. The 99.8% dispatch reliability - validated across the Challenger 300/350 series' 900+ deliveries - and lowest direct operating cost in the super-midsize category make the Bombardier Challenger 3500 the first choice for corporate flight departments operating more than 400 hours annually. Smart Link Plus transmits fault data to maintenance in real time, enabling pre-arrival preparation that supports the reliability figure.
