• Maribor Lent Festival (June). One of the largest open-air cultural festivals in Europe, held along the Drava riverside over two weeks in late June. Over 500 events including music, theatre, street performance and gastronomy. Private aviation demand peaks during the opening and closing weekends;
• Kurentovanje Carnival in Ptuj (February). Slovenia's most important folk festival, held in the nearby city of Ptuj, with the Kurent folk characters (traditional Slovenian carnival figures) processing through the streets. One of the most visually distinctive cultural events in the region;
• Old Vine Harvest (October). The annual harvest of the Stara Trta in the Lent quarter is a civic event attended by city officials and invited guests. The small annual wine production is pressed in public view;
• City of Women Festival (October). A Maribor-based contemporary arts festival with a focus on female artists and cross-disciplinary performance.
