Private jet charter in Bodrum
A jet leaving the London fields reaches the Turkish Aegean in just under four hours, and what decides the trip is settled long before take-off: a slot at the airport, a place to park the aircraft in July and a handler who knows the peninsula. Private Jets UK builds the charter around those three things. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Bodrum has one airport that matters, Milas-Bodrum, about 36 km from the town and open round the clock, so the real decisions are the date, how long the aircraft stays and which bay of the peninsula the car drives to afterwards.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Bodrum depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, an Embraer Phenom 300E (a light jet not listed in the table below, from about £19,150 one way) and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Bodrum?
Three hours fifty-five minutes from Biggin Hill in a Citation Latitude, four hours twenty-five from Glasgow in a Challenger 350, and two hours of clock difference to add on arrival in summer, three in winter, because Turkey keeps the same time all year and Britain moves its clocks. At 1,501 to 1,775 nautical miles this is long-haul by Mediterranean standards, and it changes the choice of aircraft: the cabin has to be one you can sit in for four hours. The table gives the sector from each British field we use.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall
Leave a London airfield at seven in the morning in summer and the wheels touch at Milas-Bodrum shortly before one in the afternoon local time, an hour later in winter. The airport stands about 36 km from Bodrum town, and the transfer takes 35 to 45 minutes, so a client who left a London front door at half past five is at a lunch table on the peninsula a little after two. Allow for the drive to the British airfield and the terminal formalities, which the handler puts at about 20 minutes from the aircraft to the car, and the journey from central London to the town comes to about six and a half hours, which is the number to set against a scheduled itinerary with its check-in, its queues and its baggage belt.
Light jet or midsize: the question that actually comes up on this route
– A light jet can fly the sector, and a Phenom 300E or a CJ3+ gives the lowest figure you will see, from £19,150 and £19,250 one way out of Biggin Hill. Be honest about the sit, though: close to four hours in a light-jet cabin is long, and with four on board the operator checks the fuel plan against the load before anything else;
– With four to eight people, golf bags or a month of villa luggage, we quote the Citation Latitude first. It has stand-up headroom and a flat floor, and it is the aircraft that makes four hours feel like a normal working flight. From Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle and Scotland the Challenger 350 is the usual answer;
– Heavy aircraft make sense for a party of ten or more, or when the same jet stays with you for a summer of Greek and Turkish stops instead of going home between them.

Typical trips from Britain, cheapest first, all of them into the General Aviation Terminal at Milas-Bodrum. July and August, the weeks around Eid al-Adha and the October regatta week sit above these figures, and the calendar block further down explains when.

Bodrum is a good base for the Aegean: Kos is a short hop away, Mykonos and Athens are about an hour, and Istanbul is little more. Dalaman is close enough to count as the same coast. Typical one-way prices follow, and two of the rows stay inside Turkey, which carries a condition explained below the table.

The islands and the coast: when the boat beats the aircraft
Kos is the sharp case. The ferry from the Bodrum cruise port takes 20 to 30 minutes and lands you at the port of Kos next to the town, while a PC-12 from Milas-Bodrum covers 40 nautical miles and still adds the transfer from the airport to the town. For a day on Kos, take the boat. For Mykonos, about 116 nautical miles, the aircraft earns its place: under an hour in a turboprop, at a distance where the boat stops being a sensible alternative. Dalaman is 65 nautical miles away, which is a short hop by air, and Marmaris and Göcek are reached from there, not from Bodrum. Athens and Istanbul are the first stops for a longer programme and sit about an hour away in a light jet.
Before you accept an onward quote
– The border at both ends. Greece is in Schengen, and Turkey and Britain are not, so a leg from Bodrum to Mykonos or Kos ends in a Schengen arrival and every return means Turkish passport control again. The handler organises each end, but the quote should say so;
– Flights between two Turkish airports. Bodrum to Dalaman or to Istanbul stays inside Turkey, and Turkey treats flights between two of its own points separately from the international flight. A foreign-registered aircraft cannot take such a leg for granted, so we confirm the permission, or price a Turkish-registered aircraft, before a figure is sent;
– Whether the itinerary is one booking. Bodrum to Mykonos to Athens over a week costs noticeably less arranged as a single trip, because the aircraft and crew stay with you instead of repositioning between each stop.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Bodrum:
Light jets, and the cheapest way across
Four hours is the top of what we would call comfortable in this class, so the choice inside it is about cabin height and baggage and not about speed. Fine for two to four people with ordinary bags.
Midsize, the usual choice for Bodrum
The Citation Latitude is the aircraft we quote most from the London fields: room to stand, room for villa luggage and a cabin that suits a four-hour leg.
Super-midsize and large
For a family party travelling as one group, for a team that works in the air, and for a summer when the aircraft stays and flies on to the islands.
Turboprops
The right aircraft for the hops inside the Aegean: Kos and Mykonos are under an hour, and the saving over a jet on that distance is large.
Helicopters
Not for the flight from Britain but for the last stretch: the airport to the marina at Yalıkavak, a hotel helipad, a villa on a headland. The site is agreed before the quote is issued.

This is a small part of what is available. Bodrum in summer is short of parking, not of aircraft. Plenty of jets are flying in and out of the Aegean in July, so one is usually close by, in Athens, Istanbul or Dalaman, and the question we ask first is where it can wait. We look at the whole map before a price is sent.

Business aviation airports in Bodrum
Two Turkish airports and one Greek island matter, and only the first does most of the work. Which one a quote names decides the drive at the other end.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Milas-Bodrum BJV / LTFE |
The answer for almost every trip. About 36 km from Bodrum town and 6 m above sea level, open round the clock with no curfew, with two runways of 3,000 m and 2,500 m, so no aircraft we charter is limited by length. Business flights use the General Aviation Terminal, which is operated by TAV and has lounges, fast customs and immigration and a VIP service. Three ground handlers work at the airport. Every arrival and departure needs a confirmed slot, and parking, easy for two or three days, becomes scarce from April to October |
| Dalaman DLM / LTBS |
The airport for Marmaris, Göcek and Fethiye, and the sole civil airport of its region. It stands 5 km from Dalaman town, is open round the clock with no curfews and has a 3,000 m runway. Slots are required for all aircraft and a confirmed time is valid for 20 minutes either side. Use of the General Aviation Terminal is mandatory and carries a fee per person, and a flight with more than 21 passengers needs a special permit. For a Bodrum stay it is a poor back-up, but for a Göcek or Marmaris week it is the right first choice |
| Kos Ippokratis KGS / LGKO |
Across the water in Greece, and 40 nautical miles from Milas-Bodrum. It is a Schengen airport, so an arrival from Turkey is a Schengen arrival with its own passport check. Used when the trip is to Kos or the Dodecanese. For a day on Kos from the Bodrum peninsula the ferry is the faster way, and the aircraft only makes sense for the islands beyond |
Four points settle most Bodrum arrivals:
Choose the handler
Three ground handlers serve Milas-Bodrum and the terminal itself belongs to TAV. The handler supplies the towbar, power unit, lavatory service and air stairs, and arranges Jet A-1, which is available round the clock but only on the day of departure. Catering is ordered at least 24 hours ahead. Broker listings name Çelebi Aviation among the handlers. Service and price differ, so we ask the operator for its preference.
Hours, slots and parking
Milas-Bodrum is open 24 hours with no curfew, but it is slot-coordinated, so a landing and a departure time must both be approved. Parking for two or three days is usually found, and longer stays are limited between April and October. When the aircraft cannot stay, it repositions to another airport or does a drop-and-go. We settle this before the quote, not on the apron.
Border and passport
Turkey is outside the EU and outside Schengen, and Britain is outside Schengen as well, so you clear Turkish passport control and customs at the terminal. A full British citizen passport needs no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, and the passport must run at least 150 days beyond the day of arrival and have a blank page. Passengers of other nationalities are checked one by one.
Car and the clock
Give us the handler as well as the flight, so the chauffeur is at the right door. Turkey stays on one time all year, two hours ahead of Britain in summer and three in winter, which matters for a late departure and for the driver who waits. Summer afternoons often pass 34 degrees, so we ask for an air-conditioned car at the steps.

Arrival formalities in Bodrum
The passengers are met at the aircraft and escorted to the General Aviation Terminal, where customs and immigration are handled on an expedited basis. The handler puts the whole process at about 20 minutes from the aircraft arriving to the car leaving. There is no limit on the foreign currency or Turkish lira you bring into Turkey, but on the way out you must declare other currency worth more than 5,000 US dollars, and you cannot take out Turkish lira above that value.
The flight itself needs a word about permission. Turkey's civil aviation authority says that general aviation flights from the countries of the European Civil Aviation Conference need no flight permit and only a notified flight plan, with the schedule reaching the air traffic unit at least three hours before departure. A charter is a commercial flight, and for those the operator applies for a landing permit through the authority, which brokers describe as taking several working days and longer in the busy season. We confirm in writing which regime applies to your aircraft, and that the permit is in hand, before payment. On the way home the British side is a General Aviation Report filed by the operator, not earlier than 48 hours and not later than 2 hours before departure.

From the apron to the marinas
The Bodrum peninsula is a string of bays, and the airport lies 36 km from the town on the Milas side. That is why the transfer, not the flight, is what clients remember. The closest high-end hotel to the airport is Le Meridien Bodrum Beach Resort, while the bays on the north coast take an hour or more by car.
about 36 km to the castle, the marina and the old harbour35 to 45 minutes
a small holiday town on the northern shore and the shortest transfer on the listabout 9 km
about 50 km, to the northern bays near Göltürkbükü, where the Mandarin Oriental has its own helipad60 to 75 minutes
about 52 km, to the marina with 620 berths and room for yachts up to 140 m55 to 70 minutes
about 55 km, to a marina with 550 deep-water berths60 to 70 minutes
about 56 km to the village on the western coast, with its summer music festivalabout 1 h 05 min
the passenger boat from the cruise port, with a passport needed even for a day trip20 to 30 minutes
Road times can swing by 20 or 30 minutes at the morning and evening peaks. A helicopter turns the run to Yalıkavak from nearly an hour into 15 to 20 minutes, and the helicopter block further down gives the figures.
Dalaman for Marmaris and Göcek
Dalaman is not a rival of Bodrum, it is the airport of a different coast. If the villa is at Göcek, the boat leaves from Marmaris or the guests are joining a gulet in the gulf of Fethiye, a flight to Milas-Bodrum adds a long drive for no reason. Dalaman has a 3,000 m runway, a mandatory General Aviation Terminal, processing in about 20 minutes and a high season that runs from May to November, with June to August the busiest.
the terminal stands close to the town centreabout 5 km
about 17 km, to the marinas and the yacht harbourabout 23 minutes
about 95 km, over the Çetibeli pass and through Köyceğiz90 to 110 minutes
65 nautical miles, the short hop that links the two coastsabout 40 minutes in a PC-12
Two things to know before choosing it. Slots are required for every aircraft, and the confirmed time is valid for plus or minus 20 minutes, so a late connection with a crew change is planned, not improvised. And Göcek has two marinas, D-Marin Göcek with 380 berths and Göcek Exclusive Marina, which is described as a choice for mega yachts, so the crew of a yacht often asks for Dalaman by name.
The Kos ferry and the Greek islands
By the clock, Kos is nearer to the Bodrum waterfront than the airport is. The passenger ferries run from the Bodrum cruise port to the port of Kos in 20 to 30 minutes on a fast catamaran or ferry, daily during the high season from April to October, with several departures a day, and May to September is the period when the service is at its best. A passport is needed even for a day trip, and most boats on the route take no cars.
Before you plan a day on Kos
– Greece is in Schengen and Turkey is not, so a day on Kos means a passport check at the Greek end and Turkish passport control again on the way back, which is why a passport is needed even for a day trip;
– The timetable is seasonal. Daily sailings are listed for the high season from April to October, and outside it the service is not something to plan a day around until the operator confirms it;
– A private jet on the Kos run is for the islands beyond. Mykonos at about 116 nautical miles is under an hour in a PC-12, and we book it as an extension of the Bodrum trip when the same crew stays with you.
Yachts and marinas on the peninsula
Bodrum is a yacht town first and an airport second, and many private trips are built around a boat. Yalıkavak Marina, about 20 km north-west of Bodrum, has 620 berths and takes yachts up to 140 m, and the shopping mall inside it has around 130 brand-name stores. D-Marin Turgutreis has 550 deep-water berths designed for mega yachts, Bodrum Milta Marina is the city harbour, and across at Göcek the choice is between D-Marin Göcek and Göcek Exclusive Marina.
The sailing season is the airport's season. Gulet charters run through the summer and the season closes with the Bodrum Cup, held every October and sailed mostly by traditional wooden gulets of 20 to 35 metres, with more than 150 vessels taking part. For the jet this means two kinds of trip. One is the owner or guest who flies in to join a yacht already waiting at Yalıkavak or Turgutreis, where the timing of the aircraft is often set by the crew. The other is the delivery in reverse, when the guests step off the yacht and into a helicopter or a car at the quay and the aircraft is waiting at Milas-Bodrum with a slot. We build both from the yacht end, because the airport slot is the part that has to bend and the yacht's schedule is not.
Flying to Bodrum with a dog or a cat
Turkey is outside the EU, so the routine that works for a weekend in Spain or Italy does not apply. A British dog or cat going to Bodrum needs a certificate from Britain on the way out and, more importantly, a plan for the way back, because Great Britain treats Turkey as a country without simplified entry. The animal sits beside you in the cabin and no hold is involved.

What the journey asks for, according to the Defra pages for exports to Turkey, the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the gov.uk guidance for bringing a pet into Great Britain:
- A microchip, implanted before the rabies vaccination and checked by the vet before anything is entered on the certificate;
- A current rabies vaccination with an inactivated vaccine, given when the animal was at least 90 days old, according to Defra's guidance notes for Turkey;
- A rabies antibody blood test: a sample taken at least 30 days after the vaccination, with a result above 0.5 IU, and a wait of 90 days from the result before the first trip, according to the Turkish ministry. Defra's own notes call the test highly recommended, and because the two texts do not match we plan as if it is required;
- Defra's export health certificate for dogs, cats and ferrets going to Türkiye, applied for through Defra's online service and completed by an Official Veterinarian, whose guidance notes ask for a clinical examination no more than 24 hours before export, so the vet visit falls on the day before the flight. The Turkish ministry asks for the veterinary certificate within two days of travel and for no more than two animals per traveller;
- For the return to Britain, a Great Britain pet health certificate issued in the ten days before arrival, a rabies antibody blood test taken at least 30 days after the vaccination and showing at least 0.5 IU/ml in an EU-approved laboratory, and a wait of three months from the date of that sample;
- For dogs, a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before the flight back to Britain, recorded with product, date and time. Cats are exempt.
What catches owners out on the Bodrum run
– The blood test sets the calendar. Turkey does not appear among the countries Great Britain lists for simplified pet entry, so plan on the route for unlisted countries: a vaccination, thirty days, the sample and then ninety days, which satisfies the Turkish wait going out and the three months from the sample on the way back. That is about four months before the trip is safe to book. An exception may exist for an animal vaccinated, tested and certified before it leaves, and we check it against the current guidance for your animal;
– The certificate for the way home must be issued inside ten days of arrival, which in practice means a vet appointment in Turkey, together with the tapeworm treatment in its 24 to 120 hour window. We book the vet together with the aircraft, so that the time of treatment and the time of departure are agreed in one message and not in three;
– Turkey can change its import conditions without notice, and guidance notes differ in age. We ask the Turkish authority for the current list for your date of travel, and we keep the animal out of the sun on the apron: summer afternoons often pass 34 degrees.
Ferrets, birds and anything less usual are covered in our flying with pets guide. Before a booking is taken our managers check where the blood test stands, and before the flight we confirm the entry point and the paperwork for the animal in writing.
The Bodrum calendar: a yacht season with a festival summer
Bodrum runs on the sea. The peak season stretches from April to October and June to August is the busiest, with temperatures often above 34 degrees, while winter is mild and wetter at 10 to 15 degrees and the airport is quiet. Knowing which week you want matters more than choosing an aircraft.
Why a summer week costs more
Not the flying. The European fleet is large and Bodrum is well placed in it. What gets tight in July is the slot, the parking space and the handler, all at the same airport in the same days. A booking made a fortnight before a peak weekend can still be done, but it pays more, and it may mean an aircraft positioned from Athens or Istanbul that cannot stay. The same booking made six to eight weeks earlier is simpler and cheaper. Outside the season Bodrum is one of the easier Mediterranean airports to arrange, and two to three weeks of notice is usually enough.
Ways to bring the Bodrum price down
- Move the dates a few days where you can. The shoulders of the season, May and September, are calmer than the weeks around the ballet festival and around Eid al-Adha;
- Ask where the aircraft is based. A jet already in Athens, Istanbul or Dalaman needs less positioning than one from Britain, and on a sector of four hours positioning is a large part of the bill;
- Think about the empty leg home. In summer there are many aircraft that arrive with a party and leave empty, and flights back to London, Geneva, Dubai and Istanbul are the ones most often available;
- Take the Latitude for people and luggage and the light jet only when four people carry ordinary bags. The money saved on the hour buys the helicopter at the far end.
Types of flights
Bodrum produces a different mix from a business capital, because most of the traffic belongs to one house, one yacht or one season.
- Family villa weeks and fortnights in July and August, usually with children and a large amount of luggage, flown into Milas-Bodrum and driven to Yalıkavak, Türkbükü or Gümüşlük;
- Yacht trips, in which guests or owners fly in to join a boat at Yalıkavak or Turgutreis, or leave one at the end of a gulet charter;
- Island-hopping with the Greek side of the Aegean, with Kos, Mykonos and Athens as the usual stops, and the passport check at each end;
- Weddings and events on the peninsula, where a group of guests needs to arrive in the same hour;
- Business visits from Istanbul and the rest of Turkey, and shorter hops to Dalaman for the Göcek and Marmaris coast;
- Sailing weeks, among them the October Bodrum Cup, with crews arriving by charter.
The long weekend deserves a second look. Over three days the aircraft either waits at the airport or goes home and returns, and in summer waiting is the harder option, because parking is limited and the slot has to be held. Both waiting and positioning are billed, and which costs less depends on the week. We quote the two side by side, and often a third in which the aircraft drops the party, moves to a nearby airport and comes back for the departure.
Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. On the Bodrum route they follow the pattern of the season, and it helps to know what produces them.
Where Bodrum empty legs come from
– The summer volume. Aircraft arrive with a family party and leave empty a day or two later, and the London, Geneva, Dubai and Istanbul legs are the ones that come up most often in the busy months;
– Drop-and-go. Where parking is not available, an aircraft drops its passengers and positions away to another airport, then returns for the departure; the positioning flight is a leg that can be offered;
– The end of the season. When the cruising season closes after the Bodrum Cup, aircraft that spent the summer in the Aegean are moved back north, and those positioning flights are the ones offered.
Summer brings the volume but not the certainty. A client who can give us a three-day window will see far more than one who needs a particular Sunday evening, and the price of that freedom is that the operator, not the passenger, sets the departure hour and can withdraw a leg if the original booking changes. Open offers sit on our empty legs page, and a Bodrum match is passed to you as soon as an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
In Bodrum a helicopter is the answer to the peninsula's one weakness, the road. The bays are a long way round by road, and the places where rotary flight changes the day are the marinas, the hotel helipads and the headlands that have no road worth the name.
against a 45-minute drive, the standard transfer for a guest joining a yacht15 to 20 minutes
against 35 to 45 minutes by carabout 15 minutes
the Mandarin Oriental in the northern bays offers helicopter transfers from the airport, and some coastal properties have private padson request

Before you plan around a helicopter
– A helicopter cannot land wherever it likes. A landing outside an aerodrome needs an authorised site, so a hotel lawn or a private villa has its status confirmed before we quote and not after. We ask the operator for each site and we do not assume that a place used last time is cleared this time;
– Heat sets the limits. Summer afternoons above 34 degrees reduce the performance of an aircraft, helicopters included, so a heavily loaded transfer is better flown in the morning or the evening;
– On the busiest weekends, book the helicopter together with the jet or expect to be told there is no rotary capacity. Twin-engine machines are the sensible minimum for any flight over the sea.
For the short run from the airport to a marina the Airbus H125 or the roomier H130 is the usual pick, and the H135 or the Bell 429 comes in when a twin engine is wanted. We book the helicopter with the jet so that one timetable governs both crews and the slot at the airport.

Bodrum charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
FAMILY WEEKS · LUGGAGE FIRST
A villa fortnight on the peninsula
Biggin Hill - Bodrum, Citation Latitude, about 3 h 55 min · 7 pax
Seven people, golf bags, two pushchairs and a month of summer in the hold. The cabin was chosen for the baggage, not for the seats. With no parking for a fortnight in July, the aircraft flew home empty and came back for the return, and both legs were priced in the original quote.
YACHT · THE CREW SETS THE CLOCK
Guests joining a boat at Yalıkavak
Farnborough - Bodrum, Citation Latitude, about 4 h · 6 pax
The yacht was waiting at the marina and the crew wanted the guests on board by the evening. The slot at the airport was fitted to that, and a helicopter took the party from the terminal to the marina in about a quarter of an hour, against a drive of three-quarters of an hour or more.
DALAMAN · THE OTHER COAST
A week at Göcek that began as a Bodrum quote
London Luton - Dalaman, Citation Latitude, about 4 h 10 min · 6 pax
They had asked for Bodrum because everyone knows the name. The villa was at Göcek, which is under half an hour from Dalaman and a long way from Milas-Bodrum. Same aircraft, a few minutes more in the air and no hours on the road. The only cost was asking where the villa was before quoting.
A DOG ON BOARD · FOUR MONTHS' NOTICE
Four adults and a spaniel for two weeks
Southampton - Bodrum, Citation Latitude, about 4 h · 4 pax + dog
The booking took a day. The preparation took four months, because Turkey wants a rabies blood test and a wait after it, and the way home needs the same test and a three-month wait. We booked the vet in Turkey for the certificate and the tapeworm treatment inside the 24 to 120 hour window, and the aircraft and the vet were agreed in one exchange of messages.
BODRUM CUP · A WEEK OF CROWDED QUAYS
A sailing party in the third week of October
Bristol - Bodrum, Citation Latitude, about 4 h 10 min · 6 pax
Crew and guests for a gulet in the regatta. Parking at the airport was still limited in October, so the aircraft left after the drop and returned for the Sunday departure. The slot and the return were booked in the same message as the outbound.
EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY EVENING WEST
A jet already going your way
Bodrum - London Luton, Citation Latitude empty leg, about 4 h · 3 pax
The aircraft had brought a party in for the week and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for a Sunday evening departure to the London fields.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Bodrum
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Bodrum?
About 3 hours 55 minutes from Biggin Hill or London City in a Citation Latitude, and around 4 hours from Luton or Farnborough, covering roughly 1,500 to 1,530 nautical miles. From Manchester or Leeds in a Challenger 350 allow about 4 hours 10, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow around 4 hours 25. Turkey is two hours ahead of Britain in summer and three in winter, so a seven o'clock departure lands shortly before one in the afternoon local time in summer.
2How much does a private jet to Bodrum cost?
A light jet such as a Phenom 300E is the lowest figure, from about £19,150 one way out of Biggin Hill, though four hours is a long sit. The Citation Latitude, the aircraft most often quoted, starts at £29,350 from Biggin Hill and £29,850 from Luton, and a Challenger 350 from Scotland runs from £33,800 to £34,350. July and August and the weeks around Eid al-Adha price above these figures.
3Which airport should a private jet use in Bodrum?
Milas-Bodrum (BJV / LTFE) for almost every trip. It is about 36 km from Bodrum town, open round the clock without a curfew, has runways of 3,000 m and 2,500 m and a General Aviation Terminal operated by TAV with fast customs and immigration. It is slot-coordinated, so a slot is needed for every arrival and departure. For Marmaris and Göcek use Dalaman (DLM / LTBS), which is 17 km from Göcek and about 95 km from Marmaris.
4Do I need a visa, a permit or a slot to fly privately to Bodrum?
A full British citizen passport needs no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, provided it is valid for at least 150 days beyond the day of arrival and has a blank page. Turkey is outside the EU and Schengen, so passport control and customs apply on arrival. The aircraft needs a slot at Milas-Bodrum, and a charter flight usually needs a landing permit applied for by the operator, which we confirm in writing. In July and August book six to eight weeks ahead.
5Can I reach Kos, Yalıkavak or a yacht from the airport?
Yes. A helicopter takes 15 to 20 minutes from Milas-Bodrum to Yalıkavak Marina against about 45 minutes by car. Kos is across the water, and the ferry from the Bodrum cruise port takes 20 to 30 minutes, which beats a flight, but Mykonos is under an hour in a PC-12. Greece is in Schengen, so you pass a passport check at the Greek end and again on the Turkish side coming back.
6Can I take my dog to Bodrum on a private jet?
Yes. The dog travels in the cabin with you. Turkey is outside the EU, so you need Defra's export health certificate for Turkey signed by an Official Veterinarian, a rabies blood test and, as the Turkish ministry asks, a 90-day wait from the result before a first trip, and for the way home Great Britain treats Turkey as an unlisted country: a rabies blood test at least 30 days after vaccination, a three-month wait and a Great Britain pet health certificate issued in the ten days before arrival. A dog also needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before landing in Britain. Cats are exempt from the treatment.
