Private Jet Charter to Cape Town from the UK
Private Jets UK flies clients into Cape Town in a single leg from Britain, and on this route almost everything that needs deciding belongs to the ground rather than to the aircraft. Our customers have access to 6500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. For 15 years of successful work, we have established partnerships with the world’s largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you the most favorable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Almost nothing capable of the flight from Britain is based in the Western Cape, so the long-range cabin comes from Europe or the Gulf and goes home again afterwards. What South Africa does have in depth is a local fleet for everything that happens once you have landed, and keeping those two halves separate is usually the difference between a sensible bill and an extravagant one.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Cape Town depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated based on the following data: a departure from London Luton, an Embraer Legacy 600 and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Cape Town?
About eleven hours from London, flown in one leg. Cape Town sits roughly 5,250 nautical miles from the southern English fields, which is a long way but not an awkward one: the large and ultra-long-range classes cover it with room to spare, so there is no technical stop to plan around and no crew change on the ground halfway. The sector is usually flown overnight, southbound after dinner and northbound in the evening, which puts the eleven hours where you would want them.

Cape Town is the long end of South Africa
Roughly three hundred nautical miles further from Britain than Johannesburg, which is not much on a map and matters more than it looks. It narrows the field of aircraft that fly the sector with a full cabin and reserves intact, and it lifts the price by a noticeable margin on identical airframes. A Falcon 8X, a G650ER and a Global 7500 all handle it without discussion. Below that class we run the loaded numbers against your actual passenger and baggage count rather than a brochure figure, because the Cape is exactly where the difference between paper range and real range shows up. The wider question of which cabins reach South Africa at all is set out on our South Africa page.
Two things this route gives you that most long-haul does not
– Almost no time difference. Cape Town runs one hour ahead of Britain in the British summer and two in the winter, so eleven hours of flying costs you nothing in recovery. A meeting the morning after landing is realistic, which on any eastbound sector of this length it is not;
– A single arrival airport with round-the-clock clearance. There is no curfew to plan around and no second field to weigh up, so the only questions left are the private terminal and the car.

Private jet flights to Cape Town from Europe and the Gulf
Britain is not the only feeder, and for anyone whose trip starts on the continent the numbers change usefully. The Gulf is over a thousand miles closer to the Cape than London is, and the Mediterranean several hundred, which shows up directly in the price. If your itinerary passes through Dubai, Geneva or Nice anyway, it is worth asking us to price the southbound leg from there rather than from home:

Why the Gulf routing is worth a question
Riyadh, Doha and Dubai sit around four thousand nautical miles from Cape Town against London’s five thousand two hundred and fifty. That brings a whole class of aircraft into play that would be marginal from Britain, and the hourly saving compounds over a shorter sector. For clients already travelling east on business, joining the southbound leg in the Gulf can take a meaningful sum off the trip. It is not always the answer, since a positioning flight to meet the aircraft can swallow the difference, but it is a calculation we run rather than assume.
Private jet flights from Cape Town
The Cape is the far corner of the country, which makes the outbound legs longer than most visitors expect. Johannesburg is nearly seven hundred nautical miles away, about the same as London to Vienna, and the Kruger reserves further still. What sits close by is the Western Cape itself: Hermanus is a quarter of an hour in the air, the Garden Route comfortably under the hour.

Release the long-range cabin before you do any of this
Keeping the aircraft that flew you from Britain on a stand here for a fortnight is the most expensive way to own a domestic flight, and in the peak weeks it is often not even possible, because ramp space is the first thing to run out. The usual shape of a Cape trip is the long cabin in, released to its next job, South African aircraft for whatever happens inside the country, and a long cabin brought back for the return. It reads as more complicated than it is, and it is normally the difference between a bill that makes sense and one that does not.
Two Cape-specific points on the short legs
– Hermanus and the whale coast are close enough that a helicopter usually beats a jet outright. Forty nautical miles is barely worth two sets of airport formalities, and the rotary block further down covers what that costs instead;
– Anything continuing beyond the border, whether Namibia, Botswana or Mauritius, needs the itinerary settled early. Permits and aircraft registration matter more once you leave South African airspace, and those are set out on our South Africa page.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:
The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.

Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! – the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6500 business jets (about 3500 in Europe and 3000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can’t post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. The following jets currently operate on the Cape Town route:
Nonstop from Britain
The Cape is three hundred nautical miles further than Johannesburg, and this is the class that covers it with a full cabin and reserves untouched. Any of the four flies the sector without discussion.
Nonstop with a closer start
All four cover the Cape from the Gulf or the Mediterranean without difficulty. The last three also do it from Britain once the loaded numbers are checked; the Global 5000 does not have the legs for that sector and belongs on the shorter departures.
Business liners
For the December season, for weddings on a wine estate and for corporate parties above fifteen. On eleven overnight hours a separate bedroom stops being an indulgence.
Onward inside South Africa
What we move clients onto after arrival. Well established locally, easy to book, and far cheaper than holding a long-range cabin on a stand here for a fortnight.
Turboprops and rotary
For Hermanus, the Garden Route strips and the Winelands estates, where the runway is short or there is no runway at all and the aircraft lands where you are actually going.

This is a small part of what is available. Long-range cabins are sourced wherever they happen to be positioned in Europe or the Gulf, and the South African fleet is booked locally.

Business aviation airport in Cape Town
There is one, and for a private flight that is genuinely the whole list. Cape Town International (CPT / FACT) sits about twenty kilometres from the centre and handles every private arrival to the Western Cape.
The wind, which is the thing nobody mentions until it matters
Cape Town is notorious for it, and speeds above twenty knots are ordinary rather than remarkable. The saving grace is geometry: the long runway lies along the prevailing north-east and south-west airflow, so what the aircraft usually meets is a headwind rather than a crosswind, and a headwind is a landing aid. The consequences show up elsewhere. The south-easter that blows through the southern summer will ground a helicopter long before it troubles a jet, which matters if a Winelands transfer is part of the plan. Terrain is the other factor, since the approaches run against high ground and the airport carries full instrument capability for a reason. None of this makes the Cape a difficult arrival. It makes it one where the alternate and the ground plan are worth agreeing before departure rather than at the top of descent.
One runway doing the work, and what that means for you
The second runway is short, so in practice the field runs on a single long strip carrying everything from widebodies to light turboprops. That is efficient until something stops on it, at which point there is no parallel to fall back on. A major rebuilding programme is under way, including a longer realigned runway shifted eastward to sit better with the prevailing wind, along with expanded terminals. In the meantime the practical advice is unchanged and mundane: build slack into the day around a Cape arrival, and let us name a diversion field in the plan rather than improvising one.

What about the other Cape airfields?
– Cape Winelands Airport, north-east of the city, is often mentioned as an alternative. Today it is not one: its two working runways are about nine hundred and seven hundred metres, which suits light aircraft and flight training and nothing we would fly you on. A rebuild to full international length is planned and the existing field is expected to close for part of it;
– Ysterplaat is a military air base and not available for charter;
– Which leaves Cape Town International as the arrival point, and the choice worth making here is the private terminal and the ground plan rather than the airfield.
Both private terminals sit on the field with their own lounges, crew facilities and covered vehicle staging, and one of them has hangarage and dedicated ramp parking alongside the main runway. Passports are handled at the private terminal rather than in a hall. Cape Town also serves as the departure point for seasonal charters to Antarctica, which is an unusual thing for an airport to have on its list and a reminder of how capable the handling here is.
From the apron to the Atlantic Seaboard
Cape Town is spread between a mountain and two coastlines, and where you are staying changes the ground leg more than in most cities. The airport sits inland on the flats, which means every destination is a drive outward rather than a drive in.
the hotels, the harbour and the conference centre, and where most business visitors stay20 to 25 minutes

the Atlantic Seaboard beaches and the villa belt, over or around the mountain25 to 30 minutes

along the coast road, and the drive is a large part of the pointabout 90 minutes by road
the far end of the peninsula, best combined with a coastal route rather than done directlyabout an hour
Three things worth settling with the transfer
– Peak-hour traffic roughly doubles the city figures, and the summer months are worse. A morning arrival lands you before the roads fill; a late-afternoon one does not;
– The vehicle is worth specifying rather than leaving to chance. A Winelands week and a Camps Bay week want different cars, and a group arriving off an eleven-hour flight with a fortnight of luggage wants more space than the headcount implies;
– If the destination is a wine estate, ask about the helicopter before dismissing it. Forty-five to sixty minutes of road becomes fifteen to twenty in the air, and on arrival day that is the difference between lunch at the estate and lunch somewhere on the N1.
Flying to Cape Town with a dog or a cat
Two things are worth knowing before the dates are fixed, and the first surprises almost everyone. Your animal cannot travel in the cabin with you to South Africa. The country requires cats and dogs to arrive as manifested cargo on a scheduled service, so the dog flies separately even though you are on a private aircraft, and no amount of chartering changes that.
The second is better news. Cape Town is one of the two ports of entry that accept every category of animal, so arriving here removes a constraint rather than adding one, and dogs coming from the United Kingdom with correct paperwork face no quarantine on landing.
What sets the timetable
the controlling document, which dictates the certificate format and the testing required6 to 12 weeks ahead
recorded on every document that follows itbefore everything else
where most of the lead time goes, and the part that cannot be compressedvaries by permit
South Africa is not on the list for a simple return, so the blood sample is taken by your own vet at homea test drawn before you leave
Cape-specific practicalities
– The animal and the owners arrive on different aircraft and often at different hours, so the collection at the cargo terminal needs someone assigned to it rather than assumed;
– If the trip continues to a Winelands estate or up the Garden Route, confirm the property takes dogs before the flights are booked. Many do; the ones that do not tend to be the ones people have already reserved;
– A helicopter transfer with an animal is a separate agreement with the rotary operator and is settled at the quote stage, not on the day.
Because the permit governs everything else and the requirements are revised more often than most, our managers confirm the current position in writing for your dates before a booking is taken. The full South African requirements are set out on our South Africa page, and rules for the destinations where an animal does travel beside you are on our flying with pets guide.
The Cape calendar: when to come and what it costs you
Cape Town is a southern-hemisphere city, so its summer is the British winter and the busiest weeks of its year are the ones when London is dark by four in the afternoon. That inversion is most of the reason this route exists at all.
hot, dry and busy, with slots, ramp space and aircraft all tightening at once. Book months rather than weeks aheadthe peak, and it bites
the same summer weather, with the mining industry’s largest gathering filling the city for a week and squeezing handling capacity furtherthe peak plus a conference

the West Coast wildflower season, comfortable weather and good availability before the summer rush closes it downspring, and the flowers
warming up and filling up, but still short of December pricing. The last easy month before the peakthe shoulder
What the peak actually does to a booking
Between December and February the Cape is the hardest booking in our southern network, harder in its own way than anything the Mediterranean produces in August. Prices on this corridor rise by something in the order of a fifth to two fifths against the shoulder months. More importantly, the constraint stops being money: ramp parking runs short, and a long-range cabin that cannot hold a stand will drop you and reposition, most often to Johannesburg, returning for your departure. That is a normal arrangement rather than a failure, but it belongs in the quote at the outset. Two to four weeks of notice is the working minimum for summer dates, and the February conference week wants four to six because aircraft positioning and handling capacity are under pressure at the same time.
Three levers that change the number
– Move to March or April. Same warmth, same city, harvest in the vineyards, and a bill that looks quite different. This is the single largest saving available on the route;
– Book the return at the same time as the outbound. Since nothing capable of the sector lives here, a round trip quoted as one job is materially cheaper than two one-way charters;
– Ask about joining a southbound leg in the Gulf or the Mediterranean if your travel already takes you that way. The table higher up shows how much closer those departure points are.
Types of flights
What reaches our desk for the Cape divides fairly cleanly, and it is a broader mix than most long-haul cities produce:
- The southern summer season, running from December to February, with families who own or rent along the Atlantic Seaboard and in Constantia;
- Winelands travel, which is the reason a large share of Cape helicopter work exists and increasingly the reason for the trip itself;
- Conference and corporate travel, since the city hosts Africa’s largest industry gatherings and has the convention capacity to match;
- Golf and Garden Route itineraries, usually a few days in the city followed by the coast east of it;
- Property visits and relocations, a steady year-round flow between Britain and a city where a great many British families own something;
- Combined Cape and safari trips, where the reserves are a separate flight on a South African aircraft rather than a continuation of yours.
The one that changes the aircraft rather than the schedule is the family season. A fortnight in a Camps Bay house for eight people generates the luggage of a small removal, and the hold rather than the seat count sets the cabin. The one that changes the lead time is the February conference week, where handling capacity rather than aircraft availability is the binding constraint.

Empty Legs
An empty leg is a flight the aircraft is making anyway with an empty cabin, offered at a fraction of the usual figure. On an eleven-hour sector the saving in cash terms is among the largest in our network, and the Cape produces them on a schedule you can almost predict.
The seasonal rhythm behind them
– December delivery, empty return. Aircraft bring families down for the holidays and fly north with nobody aboard within a day or two. Those northbound legs are the most reliable of the year;
– January and February collection. The same aircraft come south empty to fetch people home, which produces southbound legs at the height of the season when nothing else is cheap;
– The ramp squeeze. When a long-range cabin cannot hold a Cape Town stand through the peak it leaves for Johannesburg with empty seats, and that short hop is worth asking about on its own.
Discounts run from roughly half to three quarters of a fresh charter. What you give up is the date, usually the hour and occasionally the departure field, and a leg disappears if the original booking moves. Because the season here runs from November to March in real volume rather than in occasional bursts, a client who can name a fortnight has a genuine chance rather than a theoretical one. What is free right now is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a match as soon as an operator releases one.

Jet Sharing
Sharing means two or more parties buying seats on the same aircraft on the same day, so the cabin is paid for between them rather than by one client. On the Cape sector this does something specific rather than something general, and it is worth being exact about it.
Divide eighty-eight thousand euros among fourteen and the seat lands near six thousand three hundred. That is several times a first class ticket, so nobody should pretend this makes private travel to the Cape inexpensive. What it does is put a large cabin with flat beds within reach of a group that would otherwise take something smaller, and on eleven overnight hours the bed is the entire product.
Where the match actually comes up
– The Christmas and New Year fortnight, when the direction of travel is predictable and half the people flying south leave within the same ten days;
– The February conference week, where several companies send parties smaller than the cabin each of them books;
– Winelands and golf groups on fixed estate dates, which are frequently four or six people in an aircraft built for fourteen.
The shared seat keeps the things that matter on a sector this long: a flat bed, a private terminal at both ends, luggage judged by the hold rather than an allowance. Send us the week and the headcount, and we will match it against southbound departures already on our books.

Helicopter charter
Nowhere in our network is a helicopter easier to justify than here, and it is not really about traffic. The Winelands sit an hour behind a mountain range, the peninsula is a long thin road, and the coast east of the city runs for a hundred kilometres before it gets interesting. All three collapse in the air.

The wind decides more here than anywhere
The south-easter that funnels around Table Mountain through the southern summer is the reason a Cape helicopter plan needs a road alternative in the same day. It will stop rotary flying on an afternoon when the jets are landing without difficulty, and it does so with little notice. We book the morning slot where the choice exists, keep the car arranged either way, and say plainly when a plan depends on the weather rather than pretending it does not.
The machines that work this coast are chosen for terrain and wind rather than distance. The Airbus H125 and the AS350 Ecureuil do most of the Winelands and mountain work, strong on the climb and untroubled by small estate landing sites. The wider-cabin H130 with its panoramic glazing is the scenic and resort choice, and the one most Table Mountain and peninsula circuits are flown on. For coastal legs, over-water work and larger parties the twin-engine H145 and Agusta A109 Grand New take over, with two engines the sensible minimum once the route leaves the shoreline. All are South African registered and locally crewed, and we book the rotary leg alongside the jet so both crews work to one schedule.

Cape Town charters from the booking notes: six recent trips
How the route behaves once the quote turns into a flight. Six jobs drawn from recent seasons, surnames reduced to initials and a handful of particulars changed.
NEW YEAR · THE RAMP RAN OUT
The D. family: a house in Clifton for three weeks
London - Cape Town, Gulfstream G650ER, about 11 h 05 min · 9 pax
Booked in August for a late-December arrival, which on these dates is the right amount of notice rather than excessive. Parking for three weeks was never realistic, so the aircraft set them down and repositioned to Johannesburg, coming back on the fourth of January. Quoted that way from the start it added far less than clients expect, and the alternative was not a cheaper trip.
WINELANDS · TWENTY MINUTES OR AN HOUR
Mr S. K.: a Franschhoek estate and a lunch reservation
Farnborough - Cape Town, Dassault Falcon 8X + helicopter · 6 pax
They landed at half past nine and had a table booked for one. By road that is tight in summer traffic and impossible if anything goes wrong. Twenty minutes in an H130 put them at the estate before eleven, and the luggage followed by car. This is the transfer we are asked for more than any other here, and it is almost always worth its cost.
WIND · THE PLAN THAT ALREADY EXISTED
A group whose helicopter never flew
London - Cape Town, Bombardier Global 7500 · 8 pax
A February arrival into a hard south-easter. The jet landed without difficulty and the rotary leg to Stellenbosch was grounded, which happens here and is why we arrange the car regardless. They drove, arrived an hour later than planned and nothing else changed. The failure mode on this route is not the flight; it is a helicopter plan with no road behind it.
GULF ROUTING · THE CHEAPER SOUTHBOUND
Ms R. A.: already travelling east on business
Dubai - Cape Town, Bombardier Global 6000, about 8 h 30 min · 4 pax
She had assumed the trip had to start in London. It did not: she was in the Gulf for three days beforehand, and joining the southbound leg there is over a thousand nautical miles shorter. The saving against a London departure ran to a substantial share of the charter, and the only cost was asking the question before the booking was made.
DOGS · SEPARATE AIRCRAFT
The M. family relocating with a labrador
London - Cape Town, Gulfstream G650ER · 4 pax, dog separately
The assumption was that the dog would travel in the cabin, as it does on most of our routes. South Africa does not allow it, and the animal flew as manifested cargo on a scheduled service. The permit took the best part of two months. The good news was the ending: arriving from Britain with correct paperwork there was no quarantine, and Cape Town accepts every category, so the dog was collected the same day.
EMPTY LEG · NORTHBOUND AFTER CHRISTMAS
Mr B. T.: an aircraft that had just delivered
Cape Town - London, G650ER empty leg, about 11 h · 5 pax
The days after Christmas are when the fleet that came south for the holidays flies home with nobody aboard, and it is the most reliable window of the year on this corridor. He gave us a fortnight rather than a date, which is what makes these work, and paid a shade over a third of a fresh one-way.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Cape Town
1Can a private jet fly from London to Cape Town nonstop?
Yes. Cape Town is about 5,250 nautical miles from London, comfortably inside the range of the large and ultra-long-range classes, so the sector is flown in one leg in around 11 hours 5 minutes. A Dassault Falcon 8X, a Gulfstream G650ER and a Bombardier Global 7500 all handle it comfortably. Departures from Scotland and Northern Ireland run about half an hour longer.
2How much does a private jet to Cape Town cost?
From about 87,000 EUR one way on a Falcon 8X out of Biggin Hill, 87,500 EUR from Farnborough and 88,000 EUR from London. A G650ER starts near 96,000 EUR, a Global 7500 near 104,000 EUR, and an airliner cabin for nineteen or more from around 156,000 EUR. Departures from the Gulf are cheaper, since Dubai is over a thousand nautical miles closer than London.
3Which airport do private jets use for Cape Town?
Cape Town International (CPT / FACT), about 20 km from the city centre and roughly 20 to 25 minutes by car outside peak traffic. It is the only practical option: Cape Winelands Airport currently has runways of about 900 and 700 metres and takes light aircraft only, and Ysterplaat is a military base. CPT runs 24 hours with customs and immigration throughout and two established private terminals.
4When is the best time to fly privately to Cape Town?
March and April for value: the wine harvest, warm weather, thinner crowds and prices well below the peak. December to February is the southern summer peak, when prices rise by roughly a fifth to two fifths and ramp parking runs short. February also brings the mining industry’s largest conference, which needs four to six weeks of notice rather than two.
5How do I get from Cape Town airport to the Winelands?
By road it is 45 to 60 minutes to Stellenbosch or Franschhoek, longer in summer traffic. By helicopter it is 15 to 20 minutes, which on arrival day is usually the difference between making a lunch reservation and missing it. The south-easter can ground rotary flying in the southern summer, so we arrange the car as a fallback on the same day.
