Private jet charter in Basel
A jet from the London fields lands at Basel in about an hour and a quarter, and the first question is not the cabin but the country, because EuroAirport stands on French soil, serves Switzerland and touches the German border. Private Jets UK builds the charter around that detail. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Basel has a 3,900 m runway, private aprons with their own handlers and customs offices, and Zurich, Bern, Strasbourg and Freiburg within reach when the fair calendar fills the apron. The real decisions are which side of the airport you clear, which week you pick and what the second day looks like.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Basel depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Basel?
An hour and a quarter from Biggin Hill in a light jet, just under two hours from Edinburgh, and one hour of clock difference to allow for on arrival, because Switzerland and France both keep Central European time. At 383 to 691 nautical miles from the British fields we use, Basel is one of the shortest sectors into the Alpine corner of Europe: a light jet from the south of England and a super-midsize from Scotland. The table gives the sector from each field.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall
Leave a London airfield at seven in the morning and you are on the ground at EuroAirport a little after nine local time. The airport lies about 3.5 km north-west of the centre of Basel, and Messe Basel, where the fairs are held, is about 8 km away, roughly a quarter of an hour by road in normal traffic. A client who walked out of a London office at half past six can be sitting down in a Basel meeting room before eleven. Add the drive to the British airfield and the quick processing at both ends and the whole journey comes to roughly three hours, with none of the queues of a scheduled terminal.
Light jet or midsize: how the choice usually goes on this route
– Up to four people with ordinary bags, take a light jet. An hour and a quarter in a CJ3+ or a Phenom is no hardship, and what you save against a midsize cabin pays for the car and the hotel;
– Past four, or with ski kit for the Valais and the Engadin, framed pictures for Art Basel week or a pharmaceutical delegation carrying sample cases and laptops, we quote a midsize alongside so that you see both figures. Here the hold decides before the seat count does;
– A heavy jet earns its place when the party is large, when the same aircraft stays with you across several European stops, or when Basel is one leg of something longer. Runway length is never the issue: 3,900 m takes everything we send.

Prices for the private jet flights to Basel
Typical trips from Britain, cheapest first, all of them into a business aviation handler at EuroAirport. Art Basel week, the autumn fairs and the three days of Fasnacht can price above these figures, and the calendar block further down explains when.

Basel sits at the hinge of three countries, so a flight out of it can go to the Swiss valleys, to Paris and Milan or to the Gulf. Geneva and the Valais are under an hour in a turboprop, Munich, Milan and Paris fit inside a light-jet hour, and the Riviera or the Gulf sit further out. Typical one-way prices:

Onward from Basel: when the aircraft wins and when the car does
Zurich is only 44 nautical miles away and Bern 43, and the road to Zurich takes about an hour and ten minutes, so nobody flies between them for the sake of it. A jet starts to pay once the mountains come in: Geneva is 104 nautical miles, Sion 87 and Samedan 121, each within about 50 minutes in a Pilatus PC-12, against a long day on the roads and passes. A leg from Basel to Paris or Munich stays inside Schengen, so there is no passport control at the far end, but goods can still meet customs, which is why the handler is told the destination when the leg is booked.
Before you accept an onward quote from Basel
– Which airport at the far end, and what it can do for you. Samedan sits at 1,707 m and Sion at the foot of the Alps, and mountain airfields such as these favour crews who know the approach. A quote that ignores that is a quote that will change;
– Whether the legs are one booking. Basel to Samedan and on to Milan over a long weekend costs noticeably less arranged as one trip, because the aircraft and crew stay with you instead of repositioning to base between stops.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Basel:
Light jets, the usual choice for four or five people
At an hour and a quarter this is a comfortable sector for a small party with ordinary luggage. Nothing here lacks the range, so the money is better spent on the car and the hotel than on a bigger cabin you will not fill.
Midsize, for sample cases, ski bags and framed pictures
The hold fills faster than the seats on a Basel trip: pharmaceutical teams travel with equipment, ski parties with skis, and the art fair sends canvases both ways.
Super-midsize and large
For a board delegation that wants to work in the air, a group travelling as one party, or a trip that carries on from Basel to the Gulf. The 3,900 m runway takes all of these without restriction.
Turboprops
The right aircraft for the hops into the Swiss mountains: Geneva, Sion and Samedan are about an hour or less in the air, and the saving over a jet on those distances is large. The Pilatus PC-12 is one of the most frequent business types at EuroAirport.
Helicopters
Not for the flight from Britain but for the last stretch: the Black Forest hills across the Rhine, a country house in the Jura or a villa lawn that has no runway. Where a helicopter may land is agreed before the quote.

This is a small part of what is available. Basel sees a steady flow of PC-12s, Phenoms and PC-24s, and Zurich, Geneva and Strasbourg are close, so there is often an aircraft within half an hour of the airport. Outside the fair weeks that is frequently where the better price comes from.

Business aviation airports in Basel
One airport carries almost every Basel trip, and four more matter when the programme leaves the city or the apron is full. Which one is right depends on where the meeting is and on which week it falls.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg BSL / MLH / EAP / LFSB |
The answer for nearly every trip. A binational airport on French soil, run jointly by France and Switzerland, about 3.5 km north-west of Basel and about 46 km from Freiburg. Two concrete runways: 15/33 at 3,900 m by 60 m and 08/26 at 1,820 m by 60 m, at an elevation of 270 m. Business aviation works from private aprons and from the main apron, and every aircraft that parks needs a handling agent. Air Service Basel (on the Swiss side), Jet Aviation Basel and Swissport Executive Aviation are the names we deal with, and the first two have a customs office on site. Hangar space is extensive, with Jet Aviation reported to take aircraft up to the size of a Boeing 747 |
| Zurich ZRH / LSZH |
The big alternative, about 9 km north of the city and roughly 88 km from Basel, an hour and ten minutes by road. Three concrete runways of 3,700 m, 3,300 m and 2,500 m, a General Aviation Centre and a night curfew. It makes sense when the meeting is in Zurich, or when the programme goes on to eastern Switzerland. A trip to Basel itself does not belong here |
| Bern-Belp BRN / LSZB |
The Swiss capital's airport, in the town of Belp, with one paved runway of 1,730 m and a terminal extended to handle flights to non-Schengen destinations. Fine for light and midsize jets, with a bus link to central Bern of about 30 minutes. About 100 km from Basel by road, so it works as a fallback for a Basel fair week, and as the real destination when the meeting is in Bern |
| Strasbourg-Entzheim SXB / LFST |
The French alternative in Alsace, about 10 km west-south-west of Strasbourg, with a single asphalt runway of 2,400 m. About 130 km from Basel, so it is for meetings in Strasbourg and the northern wine road, and a spare when the Basel apron is full. We confirm handling and customs before quoting |
| Freiburg im Breisgau EDTF |
A small German airfield in the north-west of Freiburg, with a 1,400 m asphalt runway. It takes aircraft over 10 tonnes only with prior permission and has no scheduled service, so it suits a turboprop or a very light jet for the Black Forest, and nothing larger. For a midsize or bigger jet the usual plan is to land at EuroAirport, about 60 km away by road, and drive |
Four things to settle before a Basel landing:
Which side, and which handler
EuroAirport has a Swiss section and a French one, and the handlers are not interchangeable. Air Service Basel and Jet Aviation have a customs office on site, and Swissport offers an executive terminal with expedited border clearance. Landing and parking on the apron need a handling agent, so we ask the operator which one it prefers and say so in the quote.
Hours, noise and permits
Scheduled departures are banned between 23:00 and midnight, and particularly noisy Chapter 3 aircraft may not take off or land from 22:00 to midnight or from 05:00 to 06:00. Business jets are not named in the rule, but an older jet is checked against it. A British charter operator can also need a Swiss permit: for up to three flights in three months the application goes in at least 72 hours ahead.
Border, customs and passport
Britain is outside Schengen, Switzerland and France are inside it, and both administrations have their own customs. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport under ten years old and valid for three months beyond departure. A first-time visitor may be asked for a photograph and fingerprints at the EU border system, which is free.
Car and the road out
Give us the handler as well as the flight, because the private aprons sit apart from the passenger terminal and a driver told only airport may wait at the wrong door. The Swiss side has a customs-free road of about 2.5 km into Basel, and the exit you take decides which administration you pass, so we agree it in advance.

Border, customs and the two halves of EuroAirport
The airport is the only binational one in the world, and it shows the moment you ask who checks you. The ground is French, but in the Swiss section Swiss law applies for customs, medical services and police work, and Swiss border guards handle passport control there, while in the French section the French airport police do. Switzerland is in the Schengen area, so a drive from Basel into France or Germany normally needs no passport check. It remains outside the EU customs union, which is why goods are another matter: Schengen deals with people, not with customs, and the rules of Switzerland or France apply to anything you carry, depending on the sector you leave through. Declare what could be taxed, and let the handler know if the party carries artworks, watches or samples, so that the paperwork is ready before landing.
For the return, the General Aviation Report for Britain is filed not earlier than 48 hours and not later than 2 hours before departure. A UK operator running a charter to or from Switzerland can also need permission from the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation. Up to three flights in three months are covered by an individual permit, applied for at least 72 hours before the first flight, and a longer chain of flights needs an operating permit applied for at least 30 days ahead. We track the permit together with the aircraft paperwork, and we confirm in writing which authority covers the sector you will use.

From the apron to the Rhine
Basel is a city of about 178,000 people on the Rhine, with a trinational urban area of roughly 900,000 around it, and it is the corner where the Swiss, French and German borders meet. It is also the home of Roche and Novartis, and of the Bank for International Settlements. The airport is a few minutes from the centre, and what matters to a private client is what lies within a morning of it: the Black Forest across the German border, Alsace to the north and the Jura hills to the south.
about 3.5 km north-west of the old town, with the customs-free road on the Swiss sidetypically 15 to 20 minutes
about 8 km by road, the venue of Art Baselabout 15 minutes
about 60 km by road, the gateway to the northern and central Black Forestabout 1 hour

Flying to Basel with a dog or a cat
For a pet the paperwork is the part of a Basel trip that needs planning, and the flight is the easy bit: the animal sits beside you in the cabin, never in a hold, and on a sector of an hour and a quarter most simply sleep. The date on the health certificate is the detail that goes wrong, because a certificate for entry to the EU is valid for only ten days.

Basel is a Swiss airport on French soil, so we prepare the paperwork for the country where the animal will actually cross the border. What the EU, and so France and Germany, asks when a pet arrives from Britain:
- An ISO microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination or at the same time;
- A rabies vaccination given when the animal was at least 12 weeks old, with 21 days elapsed before entry;
- An Animal Health Certificate for each trip, issued by an Official Veterinarian and valid for ten days for entry to the EU. A British pet passport cannot be used to enter the EU;
- No more than five animals per traveller, presented at a travellers' point of entry, which we confirm in writing for the airport;
- For dogs, a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival back in Britain, recorded on the paperwork. Cats are exempt.
What catches owners out on the Basel run
– Switzerland has its own rules and does not copy the EU's. The Swiss authorities want the animal microchipped before the rabies vaccination, a first vaccine given from 12 weeks of age and valid 21 days later, and a veterinary certificate from the exporting country for a first entry. Dogs with docked ears or tails are not allowed in, and the animal is shown at the red customs exit;
– The side you leave through decides which paperwork is looked at first. A pet that lands in the Swiss section and is driven on into France or Germany then crosses an EU border by road, so the EU certificate must still be dated correctly. We check both before the flight, not at the terminal;
– The return needs a vet in Basel. France does not ask for a tapeworm treatment on the way in, but Britain does for a dog on the way home, within 24 to 120 hours before arrival, so it is an appointment you book towards the end of the stay and count back from the departure time.
Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide. The certificate is valid for the return as stated on it, and an animal that does not meet the British rules can be placed in quarantine for up to four months. We confirm the entry point and the paperwork for the animal in writing before the flight.
The Basel calendar: art, carnival and the autumn fairs
Basel has a handful of weeks that fill the city, and they are different in kind: carnival in late winter, the art fair in June, the tattoo in July, the autumn fair and tennis from late October, the Christmas market at the end of the year. The old Baselworld watch fair, which used to take the same spring slot, was discontinued. Knowing which week you want matters more than choosing an aircraft.
Why a fair week costs more
Not the flying. The European light and midsize fleet is large and Basel is well placed in it. What gets tight is parking on the aprons, handlers' time and good cars, all in the same week, and during Art Basel the apron can be full enough that an aircraft drops the guests and goes elsewhere, to Bern or Strasbourg for example, before coming back for the return. A booking made two weeks before Art Basel can still be done, but it may mean an aircraft positioned from Zurich or Geneva, and that costs more. The same booking made six weeks earlier is simpler and cheaper. Outside those weeks Basel is easy to fly into, and a charter can usually be arranged in a day or two.
Ways to bring the Basel price down
- Move the dates by a few days where you can. The week after Art Basel and the weeks between the summer events are calmer than the fair days themselves;
- Ask where the aircraft is based. A jet that already sits in Zurich, Geneva or Strasbourg takes less positioning than one coming from Britain, and on a sector this short positioning is a meaningful part of the bill;
- Take the light jet unless the luggage says otherwise. Four people and four bags do not need a midsize, and the money saved buys the car and the hotel.
Types of flights
Basel produces a different mix from the Alpine resorts or the Mediterranean destinations we cover, because it is a pharmaceutical capital, an art-market capital and a doorstep to three countries at once.
- Pharma and life-science travel, tied to Roche, Novartis and the companies around them, where the dates are fixed and a small team visits for a day;
- Banking and institutional visits, led by the Bank for International Settlements, which has its world headquarters in the city;
- Art Basel week and the gallery circuit, with collectors, advisers and works that need careful handling and a customs plan;
- Carnival, Christmas market and tattoo weekends, small parties who arrive on the Friday and leave on the Sunday;
- Onward trips from Basel into the Black Forest, Alsace, the Jura and the Swiss Alps, by road or by a short second flight;
- Hops to Zurich, Geneva, Munich, Milan and Paris inside a longer European loop.
The day trip is the one to look at closely. Land a little after nine, leave at five in the afternoon local time and you are back on the British side at about a quarter past five, UK time, with nearly eight hours on the ground in between. A same-day return means the aircraft and crew wait for you rather than going home, and that waiting is paid for, but it often still comes out cheaper than two separate one-way charters. We quote it both ways, so the difference is visible.
Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. Basel is a short sector from London, and empty legs there come from the rhythm of the fairs and the Alps, so it helps to know what produces them.
Where Basel empty legs come from
– Art Basel and the autumn fairs. Aircraft bring guests in for the opening days and go home empty on the Sunday or the Monday, and that evening leg is the one most often offered;
– Carnival and Christmas weekends. Small parties arrive on the Friday and the aircraft goes home empty, which produces an outbound leg on the Friday or Saturday;
– The Alpine season. Operators move aircraft between Basel, Zurich, Geneva and the mountain airports, and the short Swiss legs between them can be cheap.
Because the Basel corridor is thinner than the busiest London routes, a client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. What you give up is the usual: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Basel match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
In Basel a helicopter is a tool for the edges of a trip and not the middle. The old town is small enough to cross by car or on foot, and the places where rotary flight changes the journey are the Black Forest across the border, the Alsace plain and the Swiss valleys. The airfield chart shows helicopter pads for the Swiss air-rescue service Rega.
29 nm in a straight line, against about an hour by roadabout 23 minutes
59 nm in a straight line, against a drive of about 130 kmabout 39 minutes
44 nm in a straight line, against an hour and ten minutes by roadabout 31 minutes
43 nm in a straight line, for a morning meeting in the capitalabout 30 minutes
87 nm in a straight line, the shortest way to the resorts of the Rhone valleyabout 53 minutes
Before you plan around a helicopter
– A helicopter cannot land wherever it likes. In Switzerland, landings outside an aerodrome are governed by a federal ordinance, and mountain landing sites are specially designated above 1,100 m. A hotel lawn or a private villa needs its status confirmed before we quote, not after;
– Weather sets the schedule. Fog or low cloud on the Rhine plain and in the valleys can stop a helicopter on a day when the jet lands without trouble, so a transfer needs a road alternative planned into the same day;
– A flight across the border into Germany or France means a second set of permissions. Tell us the landing site at the other end when you ask for the quote, and book the helicopter together with the jet.
The machines on this ground are the Airbus H125 for mountain work, the wider H130 for villa and country-house transfers, the H135 and the Bell 429 where a twin is wanted, and the H155 for larger parties. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable.

Basel charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
DAY TRIP · OUT AND BACK
A morning meeting in Basel and home for dinner
Biggin Hill - Basel and return, Citation CJ3+, about 1 h 15 min each way · 4 pax
Wheels up at seven, on the ground at EuroAirport a little after nine local time, in the meeting by eleven and back at Biggin Hill in the early evening. The aircraft and crew waited at the handler rather than going home, which is a real line in the quote and usually still comes in below two separate one-way charters. A long day, and it works.
PHARMA · FIXED DATES
A review team for a life-science site visit
London Luton - Basel, Citation XLS+, about 1 h 20 min · 8 pax
The dates were set by the site and not by the client. Eight people, laptops, sample cases and a request for one car to meet the aircraft. The booking went in three weeks ahead, the handler pre-arranged the passport and customs check, and nothing needed explaining on the day.
ART WEEK · THE APRON WAS FULL
Two collectors and three framed works in mid-June
Farnborough - Basel, Phenom 300E, about 1 h 15 min · 4 pax
They asked for a morning arrival on preview day and a late return. The works needed a customs plan agreed with the handler in advance, and the parking position was booked with the flight. Because the apron was tight, the aircraft dropped the party and waited elsewhere, returning for the evening departure.
THE WINE ROAD · A DAY IN ALSACE
A lunch in Colmar from a morning landing
Southampton - Basel, Citation XLS+, about 1 h 20 min · 6 pax
They had considered Strasbourg because it is nearer to the northern end of the wine road, then chose EuroAirport because the party wanted an evening in Basel too. A driver covered the 60 km to Colmar in about 50 minutes, and the return was timed to avoid the afternoon traffic back into the city.
CHRISTMAS MARKET · A DOG ON BOARD
Four adults and a spaniel for a December weekend
Bristol - Basel, Citation XLS+, about 1 h 30 min · 4 pax + dog
The Animal Health Certificate had to be dated inside ten days of arrival, and the vet appointment for the tapeworm treatment had to fall between 24 and 120 hours before the flight home. We booked both with the aircraft, the hotel took the dog, and the whole thing was settled in a single exchange of messages rather than three.
EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY EVENING WEST
A jet already going your way
Basel - London Luton, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 1 h 15 min · 3 pax
The aircraft had brought a party in for the weekend and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for a Sunday evening departure to the London fields.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Basel
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Basel?
About 1 hour 15 minutes from Biggin Hill in a light jet, the same from Luton or Farnborough in a Phenom and 1 hour 20 minutes from London City, covering roughly 383 to 415 nautical miles. From Birmingham, Manchester or Bristol allow about 1 hour 30 minutes, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow around 1 hour 50 to 55 minutes. Switzerland is one hour ahead of Britain, so a seven o'clock departure lands a little after nine local time.
2How much does a private jet to Basel cost?
From about £6,150 one way on a light jet out of Biggin Hill, and £6,200 from London City. A Phenom from Farnborough or Luton runs £6,500 to £6,600, a midsize cabin £8,200 to £9,050 from the south and Midlands, and from Scotland allow £14,700 to £15,100. Art Basel week, the autumn fairs and Fasnacht can price above these figures.
3Which airport should a private jet use for Basel, and which side?
EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg (BSL / MLH / LFSB) for almost every trip. It stands on French soil, is run jointly by France and Switzerland, and lies about 3.5 km from the centre of Basel. The business handlers Air Service Basel and Jet Aviation have customs offices on site, and the runway is 3,900 m. Zurich (ZRH / LSZH) is about 88 km away and Bern-Belp (BRN / LSZB) about 100 km, both useful when the apron is full. Strasbourg and Freiburg suit meetings in Alsace or the Black Forest.
4Do I need a visa, customs clearance or a permit for Basel?
Britain is outside Schengen and both Switzerland and France are inside it, so you clear passport control and customs on arrival. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport under ten years old and valid for three months beyond departure. Switzerland is outside the EU customs union, so goods are checked by Swiss or French customs depending on the sector you leave through. A British charter operator can also need a Swiss permit from the Federal Office of Civil Aviation, applied for at least 72 hours ahead for up to three flights.
5Can I reach the Black Forest, Alsace or the Jura from the airport?
Yes, and most clients go by road. Freiburg and the Black Forest are about 60 km and an hour away, Colmar and the Alsace wine road about 60 km and 50 minutes, and Zurich about 88 km. A helicopter covers Freiburg in about 23 minutes and Strasbourg in about 39, if the landing site is agreed first. Freiburg airfield takes aircraft over 10 tonnes only with prior permission, so a midsize jet lands at EuroAirport.
6Can I take my dog to Basel on a private jet?
Yes. The dog travels in the cabin with you. France and Germany ask for a microchip fitted before or with the rabies vaccination, a vaccination given at 12 weeks or older and at least 21 days old, and an Animal Health Certificate valid for ten days for entry. Switzerland has its own rules, including a veterinary certificate for a first entry, and does not admit dogs with docked ears or tails. For the return to Britain a dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before landing. Cats are exempt.
