Private jet charter in Liverpool
A charter from London to Liverpool takes well under an hour, and what decides the booking is which part of Merseyside you are really going to: the Grand National meeting at Aintree, a match at Anfield, a round on the links at Hoylake or Birkdale, a ship at the cruise terminal, or the road south into Cheshire. Private Jets UK arranges the charter around whichever it is. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Liverpool has one airport, John Lennon, with a 2,286 m runway, two private handlers on the field and a line from a John Lennon song on its roof, and Manchester, Hawarden and Blackpool are the alternatives when the programme sits elsewhere in the north-west. From anywhere else in Britain the flight is domestic from start to finish, with no border to cross.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Liverpool depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Liverpool?
About 40 minutes from Luton in a light jet, 45 minutes from Farnborough or London City, 45 minutes from Biggin Hill, and no change of clock from anywhere in Britain. At 69 to 169 nautical miles these are short sectors, the kind where the climb and the descent take a large share of the flight and where the price meets a minimum charge long before the distance counts. The table gives the sector from each British field into Liverpool John Lennon (LPL). Manchester is left out on purpose: it lies 21 nautical miles away, a short drive, and no charter makes sense over that distance.

Door to door, and what the train takes from you
Liverpool John Lennon stands in Speke, 7.5 miles (12 km) south-east of the city centre. The air distance from the London fields is 131 to 167 nautical miles. The train from Euston to Lime Street takes just over two hours, and it starts from a London terminus and ends in the city centre, which suits a single traveller better than a party of six with golf bags. The jet wins when the group is four to eight people, when the departure is Biggin Hill, Farnborough or Luton and not a station, and when the day carries on to Aintree, the Wirral, Chester or the Lakes, none of which a platform serves.
Turboprop or light jet: the question on a British sector
– From the Midlands, Wales, the north and Belfast, the Pilatus PC-12 is the aircraft to ask for. It prices at £3,100 one way, where a Citation CJ3+ costs £5,300, and the difference in the air is ten or fifteen minutes. Eight people with ordinary bags fit it comfortably;
– Out of London the gap is wider. A PC-12 from Biggin Hill needs about 1 h against about 45 min in the CJ3+, and the saving is £2,200. The jet earns its fee when Liverpool is one stop in a day, or when the aircraft carries straight on to the Continent;
– A midsize or larger cabin is for a full party, for hospitality at Aintree or the Open, or for a trip that goes on from Liverpool to the Alps or the Mediterranean. The single runway at Liverpool is 2,286 m, so no business jet we would propose is ruled out by length.

Prices for the private jet flights to Liverpool
Typical trips from Britain, cheapest first, all of them into Liverpool John Lennon. The Grand National meeting in April, the Open weeks in July and the big stadium nights can price above these figures, and the calendar block further down says when.

Cessna Citation CJ3+ | 6 | from £5,300 |

Every figure in the table is one of two numbers: £3,100 for the turboprop and £5,300 for the light jet. That is not rounding. A one-way charter is billed with the aircraft's return positioning, and on a sector as short as these a minimum charge replaces the distance calculation, so Birmingham at 69 nautical miles and Newcastle at 114 cost the same. The practical rule is simple: choose the departure field by the drive to the aircraft and not by the price, because the nearest one is the cheapest in effect.

Dublin and the Isle of Man are turboprop hops, Amsterdam and Paris are light-jet sectors of about an hour, the Alps sit at an hour and forty minutes, and the Mediterranean and the Algarve are a morning for a midsize cabin. Out of Liverpool: three kinds of trip
The first is the hop. The Isle of Man is 81 nautical miles away and Dublin 128, both turboprop work of about 40 minutes and 50 minutes. Ireland, Jersey and the Isle of Man belong to the Common Travel Area, but the flight is still international for paperwork and needs a General Aviation Report. The second is the European business sector: Amsterdam in about 1 h 05 min, Paris Le Bourget in about 1 h 05 min and Geneva in about 1 h 40 min. The third is the long haul, and Liverpool is not the airport we reach for first. A Gulf or transatlantic sector in a large cabin is normally planned from Manchester, 21 nautical miles to the east, whose two runways of more than 3,000 m leave the performance margin to the aircraft and not to the airfield. We compare both before quoting.
Before you accept an onward quote
– Which handler, and at what hour. XLR's own site gives 08:00 to 19:00, while the airport's listing for XLR says 08:00 to 20:00, and Ravenair keeps 08:00 to 20:00, each with round-the-clock access on request, so a late departure needs the call-out and the airport's night rules confirmed together;
– Whether it is one booking. Liverpool to Geneva and home three days later costs less as a single trip, with the aircraft waiting or positioned nearby, than as two one-way charters each flown in from elsewhere;
– Whether the aircraft can fly the sector. A quote that names the type is a quote you can compare, which is why we name it every time, so that a small jet is never priced against a large one.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Liverpool:
Light jets, the usual choice from London
At 40 to 45 minutes in the air this is the class for four to six people with ordinary luggage. The 2,286 m runway limits none of these, so the money goes on the cabin and not on capability you will not use.
Midsize, for racing and golf parties
The hold fills faster than the seats on a Merseyside weekend: golf bags, hats in boxes, a hospitality group in morning dress. A midsize cabin keeps the party together and takes the luggage as well.
Super-midsize and large
For a party that travels as one group, a delegation that works in the air, or a trip that continues from Liverpool to the Mediterranean. Nothing here is restricted by the runway, which is longer than many airports that handle these types.
Turboprops
The right aircraft for the Midlands, the north of England, Wales and Belfast, and for the hops to Dublin and the Isle of Man. The quote sits at the minimum charge on every one of these sectors.
Helicopters
Not for the flight from Britain but for the last stretch: the Aintree heliport on race days, a links course on the Wirral, a country house in Cheshire. Where a helicopter may land is agreed before the quote, not after it.

This is a small part of what is available. Liverpool is a short sector from Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds, and outside race week and a home fixture at Anfield there is usually an aircraft already within reach, so a quote may name one of those cities as the positioning point. That is normal and often where the better price comes from.

Business aviation airports around Liverpool
One airport does most of the work, and three others matter when the programme lies outside Merseyside. Each is described below with the handler, the hours and the kind of trip it suits.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Liverpool John Lennon LPL / EGGP |
The airport for Liverpool, Aintree, the Wirral and, at 24 miles, for Chester. A single asphalt runway, 09/27, of 2,286 m at an elevation of 25 m, about 7.5 miles (12 km) south-east of the city centre. The airfield is listed as open round the clock. Two handlers work from separate buildings: XLR Executive Jet Centre in Speke Hall Avenue, with VIP lounges, crew facilities, private security screening, a secured car park and direct tarmac access, and Ravenair, whose Business Aviation Centre in Viscount Drive offers refreshments, catering and in-house refuelling. Pilot-contributed databases list prior permission and handling as required, so we confirm both for your date |
| Manchester MAN / EGCC |
The alternative when the programme is east of Liverpool or the aircraft is large. Twenty-one nautical miles to the east, with two parallel runways of more than 3,000 m and customs and immigration on site. Private aircraft use Signature Aviation, whose Business Aviation Centre in Hangar 7 publishes hours of 06:00 to 22:00 with call-out on request, or Weston Aviation at the aether private terminal. Every flight needs a slot, and the night period runs from 23:00 to 07:00. A sensible second choice for a long-haul departure and a poor one for Aintree, which is on the other side of Liverpool |
| Hawarden (Chester) CEG / EGNR |
The Welsh airfield beside the Airbus wing factory at Broughton, 3.5 nautical miles west-south-west of Chester and 11 nautical miles from Liverpool. A single asphalt runway, 04/22, long enough for light and midsize jets, with the usable length confirmed for the aircraft in the quote. The airfield is strictly prior permission required and Aviation Park Group holds the sole handling rights. The airport for Chester Racecourse, Cheshire and North Wales when the party is not going to Liverpool at all. Customs cover for an arrival from abroad is something we confirm in writing |
| Blackpool BLK / EGNH |
The coastal option, 28 nautical miles north-north-west of Liverpool. A main runway of 1,868 m and a second of 998 m. Executive flights are run by Hangar 3 Blackpool, which offers access to a private hangar, and the airport counted 795 executive movements in its latest annual figures. Offshore helicopter crews also use it. A niche choice for Southport, the Fylde coast and the Lakes; for a party bound for Liverpool it adds a long drive |
Four points settle most Liverpool arrivals:
Choose the handler
XLR and Ravenair work from different buildings at Liverpool, one at Speke Hall Avenue and the other at Viscount Drive. Both serve private jets. We ask the operator which it prefers, confirm the choice in writing and give the driver the handler by name as well as the airport.
Hours and noise
Liverpool is listed as a 24-hour airport, and Ravenair keeps fixed hours of 08:00 to 20:00 and XLR 08:00 to 19:00 on its own site or 08:00 to 20:00 on the airport's listing, with round-the-clock access on request. Noise abatement or night restrictions may apply to some aircraft types, and we check the aircraft's noise class against them. A late kick-off at Anfield or a late return from Aintree is exactly where this matters, so the call-out and the aircraft's noise class are checked before the quote, not after it.
Border and passport
Flights from elsewhere in Britain have no border control at all. Anything from abroad, Ireland and the Isle of Man included, needs a General Aviation Report, and customs and immigration are listed at Liverpool as available round the clock. The handler arranges customs for the arrival and we confirm the cover for your date. Visitors who are not British or Irish passport holders and need no visa must hold an Electronic Travel Authorisation before boarding.
Car and the ramp
Under 40 minutes from touchdown to the centres of Liverpool, Manchester and Chester, according to XLR. XLR describes direct tarmac access from its centre. For the Grand National, the Open or an Anfield night, put the late car and the crew call-out into the quote from the start.

Border, passport and the Common Travel Area
A flight that starts and ends in Britain needs no border formalities, which is half the appeal of Liverpool for a client coming up from London or down from Edinburgh. The paperwork begins with anything that touches another country, and that includes Ireland, Jersey and the Isle of Man: the government's online service for General Aviation Reports covers international flights to and from the United Kingdom, the Common Travel Area included, and domestic flights are excluded. The report is filed between 48 and 2 hours before departure, and the penalty is £2,500 for a first landing at a non-regulated aerodrome and £2,000 for each passenger carried without permission.
For passengers it is simple. British and Irish passport holders need nothing further, and most other visitors who do not need a visa must hold an Electronic Travel Authorisation before they board. Leaving Liverpool for the Schengen area is a different matter, because a British passport holder meets EU border checks on arrival. We pass the passenger list and passport details to the handler in good time, so that Border Force is waiting on the ground and nobody stands at the aircraft door. Give us the nationalities in the party when you ask for a quote.

From the apron to Anfield, the Wirral and the counties around
Liverpool keeps a compact centre: the Pier Head and the Royal Albert Dock on the waterfront, Lime Street station behind them, and the football grounds to the north, Anfield beyond Stanley Park and Everton on the dockside. A private party rarely needs more than one base. The distances that matter run outward, to the racecourse, the links courses, the walled city of Chester and the hills of Wales.
7.5 miles (12 km) south-easttypically 20 to 30 minutes
24 miles (39 km) by road, which makes Liverpool the nearer major airport for Chester, against 29 miles from Manchesterunder 40 minutes, according to XLR
about six miles north of the centre on the Ormskirk Road, with a heliport at the centre of the racecoursetypically 25 to 35 minutes
Liverpool's ground, about 61,000 seats, about 2 miles (3 km) from Lime Street, with no parking for supporters in the surrounding streetsabout 2 miles
on a former dock to the north of the centre, a ground of about 52,800 seats where matchday traffic and public transport need planning forabout 52,800 seats
Prince's Dock, which takes ships up to 345 m long and handles about 900 passengers a day on a turnarounda short drive along the waterfront
the rival the jet is measured against, with two trains an hourjust over 2 hours
Cheshire lies south of the Mersey. Chester, the walled city with the oldest racecourse still in use, is 24 miles from Liverpool John Lennon and 3.5 nautical miles from Hawarden, which is why a Chester party that has no business in Liverpool lands at Hawarden. Beyond Chester the road runs into North Wales: Llandudno, a Victorian resort built on the Creuddyn peninsula below the Great Orme, is a Welsh seaside day out for a family. For a programme that stays in Wales, Hawarden is a better door than Liverpool.
North of the city the coast belongs to golf. Royal Liverpool at Hoylake, in the north-west corner of the Wirral, has hosted the Open Championship thirteen times, Royal Birkdale at Southport has hosted it eleven times, and Royal Lytham & St Annes, on the Fylde coast south of Blackpool, is the third Open venue on this coast. All three lie within about 30 nautical miles of Liverpool John Lennon, and a hospitality party in Open week will want the car or the helicopter waiting at the ramp.
The Lake District is the longest transfer. Windermere, the largest lake in England at 11 miles from end to end, is 64 nautical miles from Liverpool John Lennon in a straight line, which is 40 minutes by helicopter and a good deal longer by road. A party bound for the lakes can land at Liverpool, at Blackpool or at Manchester, and the sensible choice is the one with the shortest transfer on the day.
Flying to Liverpool with a dog or a cat
A pet on a flight from an English, Welsh or Scottish airfield to Liverpool sits in the cabin beside the owner, and nothing has to be declared, because the flight never leaves Great Britain. The one requirement is the microchip that British law already demands for a dog. Paperwork begins only when the flight starts or finishes abroad.

What each type of Liverpool flight asks of the animal:
- From England, Wales or Scotland: nothing beyond the microchip and the usual documents for the operator;
- From Northern Ireland: a dog or cat coming back to Great Britain is not checked on the way, and a dog needs no tapeworm treatment on the return from Northern Ireland. In the other direction, an animal going from Great Britain to Northern Ireland needs a separate document and notification;
- From abroad into Liverpool: a dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival, a pet travel document and a declaration are required, and no more than five animals may travel with one person. Cats do not need the tapeworm treatment;
- From Liverpool to the EU: a microchip fitted before or at the same time as the rabies vaccination, a rabies vaccination from 12 weeks of age followed by a 21-day wait, and an Animal Health Certificate for each trip, valid for ten days for entry to the EU. A Great Britain pet passport is not valid for entry to the EU.
What catches owners out on the Liverpool run
– The country the animal is going to. Ireland, Northern Ireland, Finland, Malta and Norway add a tapeworm treatment for dogs on the way in, and Northern Ireland has a separate notice and document for animals arriving from Great Britain. We raise it with the first quote;
– The return flight. The certificate carries its own validity for the return to Great Britain, so read the dates on the paper before the trip and not after it;
– Quarantine. If the rules are not met on arrival in Great Britain, an animal can be held in quarantine for up to four months, and rules for countries outside the listed group are stricter and need a blood test.
Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide. We confirm the entry point and the paperwork for the animal in writing before the flight.
The Liverpool calendar: racing, football, the Open and a week for the Beatles
Liverpool has a calendar with sharp peaks and flat valleys. April belongs to Aintree, the winter to football, July to golf on the coast, and one week in late August to the Beatles. Knowing which week you want matters more than choosing an aircraft.
Why Grand National week costs more
Aircraft are not the scarce item. Space is. On the Thursday, Friday and Saturday of the meeting the same days draw on the same handlers, the same ramp, the same drivers and the same hotel rooms, and an airport with a single runway has to find a slot and a parking place for every aircraft. A request made a fortnight ahead can usually still be met, at a higher price and sometimes with an aircraft brought up from Manchester or Birmingham. The same trip booked six weeks out is simpler and cheaper. On an ordinary Tuesday in October, by contrast, Liverpool can usually be arranged in a day or two.
Ways to bring the Liverpool price down
- Use the turboprop from the Midlands, the north, Wales and Belfast. Up to about 200 nautical miles the PC-12 is £3,100 and a light jet £5,300, and eight people do not need a bigger cabin;
- Pick the departure field by the drive. Birmingham, Newcastle and Bristol cost the same to Liverpool, so the nearest one is the cheapest in effect;
- Ask where the aircraft sleeps. One already based in Liverpool, Manchester or Birmingham needs less positioning than one coming up from the south coast, and positioning is a big share of a short sector;
- Move the date if it can move. A midweek day in March costs less than the Friday of the Grand National, and a flight in mid-September costs less than one in Beatleweek.
Types of flights
Liverpool mixes things that other British cities keep apart: a port, a football city, a racecourse, a cruise terminal and the gateway to Cheshire and North Wales.
- Business and professional travel from London and the south, with a same-day return as the usual shape;
- Racing parties for the Grand National at Aintree and the May meeting at Chester, flown into Liverpool or Hawarden and finished by car or helicopter;
- Football and arena nights, with parties flown in for a match at Anfield or the Everton ground and out again after, and for stadium concerts in summer;
- Golf parties for Hoylake, Birkdale and Lytham, especially in Open week, often with a helicopter booked for the last stretch;
- Cruise passengers joining a ship at Prince's Dock, and owners and crews changing over;
- Clients bound for Cheshire, North Wales and the Lake District, who want the shortest road at the end of the flight.
The London day return is the one to look at closely. Leave Biggin Hill at seven, land at Liverpool a little before eight and be in the meeting by nine. The aircraft and crew wait at the handler, which is a real line in the quote, though it usually still beats two separate one-way charters because the aircraft is not flown home empty and then fetched again. At about 45 minutes each way it also leaves most of the working day free.
Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. Liverpool has several seasonal peaks that create them, and it helps to know what produces them.
Where Liverpool empty legs come from
– Event days. An aircraft that has brought a party to Aintree, to Anfield or to a stadium concert goes home empty late that night or the next morning, and that leg is the one most often offered;
– London weekends. Aircraft based in the north-west fly south for a client on a Friday and come back on Sunday evening or Monday morning, which produces a northbound leg and a southbound one in the same week;
– Cruise changeovers. Parties flown in to join a ship leave the aircraft empty, and the short onward leg back to Manchester or the Midlands can be the cheapest seat on the market.
Liverpool is a regional base and not a hub on the scale of London, so a client who offers a three-day window is far likelier to find a leg than one who needs a given Friday. The operator, not the passenger, fixes the hour, and a leg can disappear if the booking behind it changes. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Liverpool match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
In Liverpool a helicopter is a tool for the last stretch and not for the city. The airport is a short drive from the centre. The places where rotary flight changes the journey are the racecourse on a Saturday in April, the links courses of the Wirral and the Sefton coast, and the houses of Cheshire and the Lakes, where the road adds an hour to each end of the day.
10 nautical miles in a straight line, to the heliport at the centre of the racecourseabout 15 minutes
13 nautical miles to the Royal Liverpool links, in the north-west corner of the Wirralabout 15 minutes
19 nautical miles north to the Southport links, with the landing site agreed in advanceabout 15 minutes
11 nautical miles to the Hawarden area, 3.5 nautical miles from the city and its racecourseabout 15 minutes
64 nautical miles to the lake, a day trip and not a transferabout 40 minutes
Before you plan around a helicopter
– Race-day slots go first. The Aintree heliport is the one place to land on race days, and the helicopter has to be booked together with the jet. Left late, it is usually the first thing that is not available;
– A lawn is not a helipad. A golf club, a hotel garden or a private estate needs a suitable site and the owner's agreement, and we settle that before quoting and not after;
– Weather sets the day. Low cloud over the Welsh hills and the Lakes can stop a helicopter on a morning when the jet lands without trouble, so every trip has a road alternative in the same plan.
The machines on this ground are the Airbus H125 for single-engine transfers, the H130 for scenic work, the H135 and the Bell 429 where a twin is wanted. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable. Times above are straight-line figures at a typical cruise of about 130 knots, with a few minutes added for start-up and landing.

Liverpool charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
DAY TRIP · OUT AND BACK
A morning meeting in Liverpool and home for dinner
Biggin Hill - Liverpool and return, Citation CJ3+, about 45 min each way · 4 pax
Out of Biggin Hill at seven, on the ground a little before eight and in the meeting by nine. The crew stayed with the aircraft at the handler, the client returned in the evening and the waiting time came to less than a second charter would have cost. The train would have taken two hours each way.
RACING · THE GRAND NATIONAL
Six guests for the Saturday at Aintree
Farnborough - Liverpool, Citation CJ3+, about 45 min · 6 pax
The aircraft was the simple part. The slot, the handler and the car were fixed weeks ahead, because the three days at Aintree draw on the same ramp and the same drivers, and a helicopter took the party for the last stretch to the heliport inside the course. The party was in the enclosure well before the first race.
FOOTBALL · THE LATE DEPARTURE
Four people, a midweek fixture and a night call-out
London Luton - Liverpool and return, Phenom 300E, about 40 min each way · 4 pax
The match finished late and the return flight had to leave while the airport's night rules applied. The handler's call-out and the aircraft's noise class were confirmed in writing before the booking was taken. Nothing about the flight was difficult. The paperwork was the whole job.
CRUISE · JOINING THE SHIP
A party of seven for a sailing from Prince's Dock
Edinburgh - Liverpool, Pilatus PC-12, about 55 min · 7 pax
The turboprop carried seven people and a hold of cruise luggage for the minimum charge, which is a good deal less than a jet. A car met them at the handler, took them to the terminal and the aircraft went home empty, so the leg came up on the empty legs list the following morning.
INBOUND · FROM THE ALPS WITH A DOG
A Geneva arrival into Liverpool
Geneva - Liverpool, Citation XLS+, about 1 h 40 min · 3 pax + dog
The General Aviation Report was filed days ahead, the handler arranged customs, and a vet in Geneva gave the dog its tapeworm treatment inside the 24 to 120 hour window before landing. The party never went near the main terminal.
EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY EVENING SOUTH
A jet already going your way
Liverpool - London Luton, Citation CJ3+ empty leg, about 40 min · 3 pax
The jet had flown a weekend party up from London and was returning without passengers. The client offered a three-day window rather than one date, which is what makes these legs work, and paid far less than a new one-way charter would have cost.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Liverpool
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Liverpool?
About 40 minutes from Luton and about 45 minutes from London City and Farnborough in a light jet, covering 131 to 167 nautical miles, with Biggin Hill at about 45 minutes. From Birmingham a turboprop takes about 35 minutes, from Edinburgh about 45 minutes in a light jet. There is no change of clock, and the train from London takes just over two hours.
2How much does a private jet to Liverpool cost?
From £3,100 one way in a Pilatus PC-12 from the Midlands, Wales, the north of England, Newcastle or Belfast, and from £5,300 in a Citation CJ3+ from the London fields, Southampton, Edinburgh or Glasgow. Every British sector under about 200 nautical miles falls on the minimum charge. Grand National week, Open week and big stadium nights can price above these figures.
3Which airport should I use for Liverpool, Aintree and Chester?
Liverpool John Lennon (LPL / EGGP) for Liverpool, Aintree and the Wirral. It has a 2,286 m runway, is open round the clock, and has two private handlers, XLR Executive Jet Centre and Ravenair. Hawarden (EGNR), 3.5 nautical miles from Chester, suits Chester and North Wales. Manchester (EGCC) is the alternative for a large aircraft or a party east of Liverpool, and Blackpool (EGNH) suits Southport and the Fylde coast.
4How do I get to the Grand National at Aintree by private jet?
Fly into Liverpool John Lennon and drive about six miles to the racecourse from the city centre, or fly on by helicopter to the heliport at the centre of the racecourse, about 15 minutes from the airport. Aintree is on the Liverpool side and not the Manchester one. Book the jet, the helicopter and the car together, and allow at least six weeks.
5Do I need a passport or customs clearance to fly to Liverpool?
Not from elsewhere in the United Kingdom. A flight from anywhere in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland is domestic, with no passport control, no customs and no General Aviation Report. Handlers still ask for names, and we advise carrying photo identification. An arrival from abroad needs a report filed between 48 and 2 hours before departure, and customs is arranged through the handler.
6Can I take my dog to Liverpool on a private jet?
Yes. The dog travels in the cabin with you. Within Great Britain no import paperwork is needed. From abroad a dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival, a pet travel document and a declaration, and no more than five animals may travel with one person. Going from Liverpool to the EU needs an Animal Health Certificate for each trip.
