Private jet charter in Arrecife
A light jet from London reaches Lanzarote in about four hours, and the clock on the island is the clock you left, so a winter weekend of dependable sun is a realistic plan and not a stretch. Private Jets UK builds each Arrecife charter around the facts of one airport: its opening hours, the slot request that instrument-flight private traffic needs, the handler every general aviation arrival must hire and the stand the operator is given. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. The airport stands about 5 km south-west of Arrecife, the island's small harbour capital, and the places people actually fly for lie further out: the lava fields of Timanfaya, the wine pits of La Geria, the Papagayo coves in the south and the ferry to La Graciosa in the north. This page is about Lanzarote and its airport. The neighbouring islands appear only as far as a Lanzarote trip needs them.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Arrecife depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Farnborough, an Embraer Phenom 300E and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
Flight time from London to Arrecife airport
From the south of England a Phenom 300E needs 3 h 50 min to Lanzarote, and the clock stays where it was: the Canary Islands keep the same time as Britain, UTC in winter and one hour ahead of it in summer, as the UK does. At 1,482 to 1,747 nautical miles from the fields we use, the island is a long hop for a light jet and an easy one for a midsize, and from Scotland and the north-east of England we move up to a larger cabin. The table gives the sector from each field.

Lunch on the island, on the clock you left
Leave a London airfield at seven and you are on the ground a little before eleven by the clocks on both sides of the flight. The airport sits about 5 km south-west of Arrecife, which a private transfer covers in around ten minutes, and it is roughly 10 km to Puerto del Carmen, 15 km to Costa Teguise and 32 km to Playa Blanca, the last in about half an hour. A same-day return is possible on paper and unwise in practice: it means about eight hours in the air, and the airport has an opening window to respect at both ends. Almost everyone stays the night, and most stay several.
Light jet or midsize: how the choice usually goes
– Two to four people and the luggage of a week in the sun: a Phenom 300E is the right start, and the cheapest honest answer at £19,350 from Farnborough. A midsize cabin on the same sector costs about £4,700 more one way;
– Five or six people, golf clubs, surfboards, a pushchair or a dog crate: the question moves from the price to the hold and the fuel. A full cabin trims what a light jet can carry, so we quote a midsize beside it and let the figures decide;
– Eight or more, a winter trip with a headwind forecast, or an itinerary that carries on to Madeira, Madrid or across the Atlantic: a super-midsize or a large cabin, priced as one booking from the first take-off to the last.
Can a light jet fly it nonstop?
– On paper, yes, from the London fields at 1,518 to 1,558 nautical miles. The published ranges for four passengers, with reserves, in still air, are 2,010 nm for the Phenom 300E, 1,927 nm for the Citation CJ4 Gen2 and 1,825 nm for the CJ3+;
– In practice the margin is thinner than it looks. Lanzarote sits at the end of the sector, the nearest alternate is Fuerteventura across the channel, and a full cabin with bags and winter fuel for the diversion takes a bite out of the brochure range;
– That is why we ask for the passenger and baggage count in the first message and agree the fuel plan with the operator before a price goes out. For the longer sectors from Scotland and the north-east we quote a larger aircraft in any case.

Prices for the private jet flights to Arrecife
Typical trips from Britain, cheapest first, all of them into Lanzarote. The Christmas and New Year weeks and the February half-term can price above these figures, and the calendar block further down explains why.

Flight hours make up most of the bill on a sector of this length, so the class of aircraft moves the price more than anything else. The same trip from Biggin Hill, one way: a Phenom 300E at £19,550, a Citation XLS+ at £24,300, a Challenger 350 at £30,100 and a Gulfstream G450 at £42,800. Landing, handling and any night-stop for the crew are added in the written offer, and so are the airport charges the handler collects.
We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Due to a large database of available business jets, we can help you find an optimal jet and crew. Fuerteventura: a ferry or a turboprop, rarely a jet
The island across the channel is 34 nautical miles away, about 40 minutes in a Pilatus PC-12. The ferry from Playa Blanca to Corralejo is a rival worth taking seriously: the crossing takes about 25 to 35 minutes, there are some 23 sailings a day between early morning and about eight in the evening, and the boats carry cars. A jet is billed at a minimum charge far above the time it flies, so a hop of this length makes sense for a party with a tight schedule or a villa at the far end, and a turboprop is the better tool.
Before you accept an onward quote from Arrecife
– Where the aircraft waits. The stands at Lanzarote are allocated by the airport and a stay of several days needs one, so a quote should say whether the jet stays on the island or positions to Fuerteventura or the mainland and returns;
– Whether the legs are one booking. London, Lanzarote, Funchal and home arranged as a single itinerary costs less than three separate quotes, because the aircraft and crew stay with you;
– Which hours apply. The airport closes overnight, at one in the morning on the island clock, so a late departure for a connecting flight has to be tested against that closing time.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Lanzarote:
Light jets, for up to four with ordinary bags
The class behind most of the cheaper Lanzarote bookings. It works from the London fields with a small party and holds a week of luggage; the runway is no obstacle to any of these aircraft, the range with a full cabin and the slot are what we check.
Midsize, for families and a fortnight of luggage
A taller cabin, a bigger hold and more fuel in reserve on the same sector. This is where the golf clubs, the surfboards, the pushchair and the dog usually end up, and where the flights from Manchester and Leeds belong.
Super-midsize and large
For eight or more, for Scotland and the north-east, for winter trips with a headwind forecast, and for itineraries that carry on to Madeira or across the ocean instead of turning round.
Turboprops
Made for the island hops to Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria and Tenerife, at a fraction of the hourly cost of a jet. Not for the flight from Britain.
Helicopters
Not for the flight from Britain, and not a service to assume on the island. A helicopter for a sightseeing loop or a transfer is arranged on request, with the landing site and the permissions agreed before the quote.

This is a small part of what is available. A Lanzarote booking often starts with an aircraft that is somewhere else, so a quote may name the mainland, Gran Canaria or a London field as its starting point, and the price reflects the positioning. That is normal for an island at the end of a long sector, and it is one more reason to ask early.

Business aviation airports in Arrecife
One airport takes every private jet that flies to Lanzarote. The neighbouring islands matter on the day the aircraft has to go somewhere else, or when the trip continues, and they are set out here only to the extent a Lanzarote trip needs them.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Lanzarote, César Manrique ACE / GCRR |
The only airport on the island and the answer for any trip to Arrecife. It lies about 5 km south-west of the town at an elevation of 14 m, with one runway, 03/21, published at 2,400 m by 45 m, and an instrument landing system listed for runway 03. The airport is operated by Aena and shared with the Spanish Air Force. Handling by a contracted agent is mandatory for general aviation, and private jets flying under instrument rules need a slot |
| Fuerteventura FUE / GCFV |
The island across the channel, 34 nautical miles away. It is the nearest alternate when Lanzarote is not an option, and a destination in its own right for a party that has booked the other island. Parking and hours there are checked before the stand is relied on as a fall-back |
| Gran Canaria LPA / GCLP |
116 nautical miles to the south-west. A longer diversion, and the place an aircraft can be positioned when it cannot wait on the apron at Lanzarote for the length of the stay |
Four things to settle before a Lanzarote landing:
Hours and the closed window
The Spanish AIP lists 06:00 to 00:00 for the summer season and 07:00 to 01:00 for the winter season, and its times are UTC. With the Canary Islands on UTC in winter and UTC+1 in summer, both read as 07:00 to 01:00 on the island clock all year round. Customs, immigration, handling, fuelling and the tower work to the same hours. Movements outside them need special prior permission, so a late arrival that slips past one in the morning is a plan for another airport.
The slot
A general aviation flight under instrument rules is subject to a slot request, and a flight under visual rules is not, but the airport operations office must be told 24 hours ahead. A business jet flies under instrument rules, so the slot is part of the booking, requested as soon as the aircraft is confirmed.
The handler
Handling by a contracted agent is mandatory for general aviation. The Spanish AIP lists Aviapartner, Groundforce and a general aviation agent for the ramp. We name the handler in the written offer and send the passenger and crew details to it early.
Border and the road in
Britain is outside Schengen and Spain is inside it, so the border is at the airport. The island is a different tax area from the mainland, which matters for goods and the onward leg. The town is about ten minutes away, the beach resorts between fifteen and thirty minutes.

Runway 03/21 and the airfield itself
There is one runway, 03/21, 2,400 m long and 45 m wide, with the threshold of 03 displaced by 90 m and the last 90 m of 21 not usable for take-off or landing, which leaves a landing distance of 2,310 m in both directions. Take-off from a runway intersection is not permitted. The AIP lists an instrument landing system, category I, for runway 03 only, so the choice of runway on the day depends on the wind as much as on the approach aid. Civil rescue cover is category 9, which covers the largest airliners, and the airport has no de-icing, which on this island is no loss.

Jet A-1 and 100LLin handling hours
The airfield is shared with the Spanish Air Force, which keeps a military section, its own contacts and an arresting cable that is normally retracted. For a civil private jet that changes little, but it explains why the AIP carries a separate regime for foreign state aircraft. The general aviation apron has its own rules: chocks are required, 180-degree turns on the stand are prohibited and an aircraft leaves under its own power with engines off at the stand or by powerback. The AIP also warns of pigeons near the runway, which is the kind of line a crew reads twice. The hangar is for small aircraft only, with a wingspan limit of 11.90 m, so a business jet stays on the apron.
Slots, handlers and the stand
The slot is the item that surprises people who are used to flying private from smaller fields. A general aviation flight under instrument rules is restricted upon slot request, so the departure and arrival times are requested in advance and then held to. Visual flights are exempt, but they must be notified to the airport operations office 24 hours earlier, and a business jet is not a visual-flight proposition on a sector of this length.
Stands are allocated by the airport's operations centre, with a follow-me car on the apron. The handler is not optional: contracted handling is mandatory for general aviation, and the ramp agents the AIP names are Aviapartner and Groundforce, alongside a general aviation agent. A Universal Aviation page lists Lanzarote among its locations, and its supervisors work through local agents there. We plan with whichever of them the operator is comfortable with, ask for written confirmation of the stand and the hours, and send the passenger list and the aircraft details before the aircraft leaves Britain.
Customs and immigration are staffed in the aerodrome hours, and so are handling and fuelling. That is the single most useful rule of the airport: if the arrival fits inside the window, everything else is available. If it does not, nothing is. The window is eighteen hours long and, on the island clock, it is the same in every season, which suits the long weekend that lands in the afternoon and leaves late on a Sunday.
Border, passport and the tax status of the Canary Islands
The Canary Islands are part of Spain and of the European Union, and for passports they are inside Schengen: the border is at the airport. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport issued less than ten years before arrival and valid for at least three months after the planned departure from the Schengen area. A first-time visitor may be asked to register a photograph and fingerprints at the EU entry-exit system, which is free. Cash or travellers' cheques worth about £8,500 or more must be declared.
The special status of the islands lies in tax. They belong to the EU customs territory but not to the EU VAT or excise area, and the local tax, the IGIC, is charged in place of VAT. The Spanish tax agency publishes separate tobacco allowances for travellers who bring goods from the Canary Islands into mainland Spain or the Balearics, which is the practical sign that the islands are a different tax area. For a charter it matters in two places: goods carried on to a mainland or European leg may meet a check, and the written offer states which taxes and charges apply to each sector. The handler and we check the declaration and the passenger list before the aircraft leaves Britain. For the return, the General Aviation Report for Britain is filed not earlier than 48 hours and not later than 2 hours before departure.

From the apron to the lava fields
Lanzarote is the easternmost of the Canary Islands, 60 km from north to south and 25 km across, about 125 km off the coast of Africa, and it covers 845 square kilometres. Arrecife, the capital, is a working harbour on the east coast with its fishing fleet, its lagoon of Charco de San Ginés and the Castillo de San José, an eighteenth-century fortress that houses the International Museum of Contemporary Art. The island has about 160,000 residents, and the climate at the airport is a hot desert one, with a daily maximum that averages about 25 degrees Celsius over the year, about 100 mm of rain and some 3,000 hours of sunshine. Most of the rain falls in winter.

Where to stay: hotels, villas and marinas
There is no single centre, and the choice of hotel decides the whole trip. Playa Blanca in the south has the marina of Rubicón and the best-known beach coves within reach, and it is where the five-star Princesa Yaiza resort stands. Costa Teguise on the east coast has the Paradisus Salinas, a hotel guide's pick, and four natural beaches. Puerto del Carmen has Hotel Fariones and several smaller luxury addresses. Arrecife itself has the Arrecife Gran Hotel, the tallest building on the island, on the seafront beside the harbour. Haría in the north, with La Casa de los Naranjos listed among the island's luxury stays, is the quiet choice.
Villas with private pools are the other half of the market, and the listings cluster around Playa Blanca and Yaiza. For a family of eight with a dog a villa is usually the better answer than two hotel rooms, and the aircraft helps: a midsize or larger cabin takes the luggage that a villa week involves. Boat owners fly to the island for the marinas. Puerto Calero is under thirty minutes from the airport by transfer, and Marina Rubicón at Playa Blanca holds a market on Wednesdays and Saturdays, from nine to two. We book the car and the driver with the flight, and ask for the villa address before the quote is written so the transfer and the arrival time agree.
Timanfaya, the national park of fire mountains
The eighteenth-century eruption that formed Timanfaya ran for more than five years, from one September to an April, produced 32 new volcanoes along an 18 km line and buried about a quarter of the island, villages among them. The national park that preserves the ground covers about 51 square kilometres of lava, cones and ash. Access is regulated: the main visit is a coach tour of about 14 km on a closed road, lasting around 35 to 40 minutes, with entry at an assigned time. The park is listed as open daily from 09:00 to 15:45, an adult ticket is about £26, and it pays to arrive 15 minutes early.
The coach leaves from the Islote de Hilario, where guides pour water into a hole in the ground and it returns as steam, and where the El Diablo restaurant grills its food over a natural heat source in a well about five metres deep, with temperatures around 250 degrees. The restaurant takes no reservations. César Manrique designed the Route of the Volcanoes and the dining room. Walking inside the park is limited to guided routes that need prior authorisation, and drones are generally forbidden, so a private helicopter loop over the crater field is something we ask the operator to confirm and never promise.
César Manrique and the island he shaped
The artist and architect César Manrique stands behind most of what visitors single out on Lanzarote, and the airport carries his name. His centres are built into the ground they stand on: a lava tube at Jameos del Agua, a cliff at the Mirador del Río, a worked-out quarry at the cactus garden. A day of his sites is a natural private itinerary, and with a driver it fits between a late breakfast and an early dinner.

Jameos del Agua is the one to see first, and the visit takes between one and two hours. The lake inside it is home to an endemic crab adapted to darkness, and visitors are asked not to throw anything into the water. Last entry is at a quarter past five and an adult ticket is about £15. The Mirador del Río is open until five, with a visit of around 45 minutes and last entry at twenty to five. Hours are those listed by the island's culture and tourism centres, and the Foundation's house museum in Haría opens at half past ten.
La Geria: wine grown in pits of black ash
La Geria is a protected landscape that runs from Uga to the Monumento al Campesino. The vines grow singly in deep pits dug into the volcanic ash, each ringed by a low stone wall, a method that gathers rain and dew and shelters the plants from the wind. The grape that matters is the Malvasía volcánica. The result looks from the road like a field of small black craters.

Hire a car with a driver for the wine road, and book El Grifo in advance if the tasting is the point, because its weekday sessions are held at fixed times. The drive from the airport is short, and La Geria combines naturally with Timanfaya on one day.
Papagayo, Playa Blanca and the beaches
The beaches that people fly for are in the south. The Papagayo coves lie inside the protected Ajaches natural monument, reached by a 5 km dirt road that starts from a roundabout on the LZ-705 between Playa Blanca and Femés. The drive from Playa Blanca takes about 15 minutes, and a small fee is charged at the gate. There are seven stretches of sand, and the largest, Playa Mujeres, is about 400 m long and 90 m wide, with Papagayo, Pozo and La Cera among the others. Facilities are minimal, with two restaurants between Papagayo and Pozo, and it pays to bring water and sunscreen. The road is rocky and rough, so we arrange a driver who knows it.
Playa Blanca itself is the southernmost town. Its Marina Rubicón has the Museo Atlántico, an underwater sculpture museum at a depth of 12 m, with ten installations on about 100 square metres of seabed, reached by diving. Costa Teguise on the other side of the island has four natural beaches and Las Cucharas, a windsurfing beach that hosts a freestyle event of the world tour.
La Graciosa and Fuerteventura: ferry or air
Two islands lie within sight of Lanzarote, and both are reached by sea. La Graciosa, just over a kilometre from the north coast, is a car-free island. The boats leave from Órzola, take about 25 minutes, run daily throughout the year, and are operated by Líneas Romero and Biosfera Express. Cars are not allowed on the island, so the car stays in the car park at Órzola, and bicycles go on board. The first sailing from Órzola is at eight in the morning and the last leaves in the early evening, later in summer. The ferry company offers a transfer from the airport to Órzola.
Fuerteventura is 34 nautical miles across the channel. The ferry from Playa Blanca to Corralejo takes 25 to 35 minutes, runs from about seven in the morning until eight at night and carries vehicles, so a rental car can cross with you. By air the same hop is about 40 minutes in a turboprop, with the transfers at both ends added. The air route earns its fee when the party is large, the schedule is tight, or the destination is a villa on the far side of the island. We price the ferry honestly against the aircraft, and we say so when the boat wins.
Flying to Lanzarote with a dog or a cat
The Canary Islands are an EU region, so the paperwork is the EU's, and it is the date on the certificate that goes wrong, not the flight. The animal sits in the cabin with you, and on a sector of nearly four hours most simply sleep.

What Spain asks for when a pet arrives from Britain:
- An ISO microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination or at the same time;
- A rabies vaccination given when the animal was at least 12 weeks old, with 21 days elapsed after the vaccination before it travels;
- An Animal Health Certificate for each trip, issued by an Official Veterinarian and valid for ten days for entry to the EU. A British pet passport cannot be used to enter the EU;
- No more than five animals per traveller, entering through a travellers' point of entry. Lanzarote airport is on the Spanish list of those points, handled by the animal health office in Las Palmas, and the animal is declared on arrival;
- For dogs, a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival back in Britain, recorded on the paperwork. Cats are exempt. Spain itself does not ask for the treatment on the way in.
What catches owners out on the Lanzarote run
– The tapeworm window works against you at the end of the stay. A vet on the island has to see the dog between 24 and 120 hours before the flight home, and a departure that moves by a day can move the window out of reach. Book the appointment when you know the return hour, and keep the receipt;
– The order of the chip and the vaccine matters. A vaccination given before the microchip does not count, and the certificate is checked line by line before the flight, not at the terminal;
– The breed matters too. Spain has its own rules for potentially dangerous dogs, and some breeds are refused or restricted. Tell us the breed in the first message.
Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide. For the entry point and the paperwork on the way home, we confirm both in writing before the flight, and our managers check the position for your dates before a booking is taken.
The Lanzarote calendar: carnival, fireworks and the Ironman
Lanzarote has a steady programme of fiestas, and the dates that matter for a charter are those that fill the hotels and the apron. Pick the week before you pick the aircraft.
Why a festival week costs more
Not the flying. The light and midsize fleet is large, and Lanzarote is within reach of it. What gets tight is the number of good villas and cars on the island and the slot and the stand at the airport, because every arrival must be requested and allocated. A booking for the New Year made two weeks out can still be done, but it may mean an aircraft positioned from the mainland, and that costs more. The same booking made six or eight weeks earlier is simpler and cheaper. Outside those weeks a charter to Lanzarote can usually be arranged in a few days.
Ways to bring the Lanzarote price down
- Move the dates by a few days where you can. The weeks between the winter holidays and the February break are usually calmer than the festival weekends;
- Fly from the west. On the same Phenom 300E, the sector from Cardiff is priced about £600 below the one from Biggin Hill, and Southampton and Bristol sit between them;
- Arrive inside the airport hours. A late arrival that tips past the closing time costs a night at another airport and a second flight in the morning;
- Decide early whether the aircraft stays. A jet that waits on the island occupies a stand, one that flies home and returns costs two long sectors, and the cheaper answer depends on the length of the stay, so we price both.
Types of flights
Lanzarote produces a different mix from the Alpine or Mediterranean destinations we cover, because it is a winter-sun island with a volcanic landscape: nearly everyone arrives to stay, and the airport is a starting point more than a stop on the way.
- Winter-sun holidays and family weeks, with a villa in Playa Blanca or a five-star hotel on the coast, and often a dog on board;
- Long weekends for the volcanic landscape: Timanfaya, Jameos del Agua, the wine road and a beach day at Papagayo;
- Sports parties, for the Ironman week and the training camps that go with it, with bicycles and equipment that need a larger hold;
- Boat owners and marina guests at Puerto Calero and Marina Rubicón;
- Trips to La Graciosa, which combine a flight in with a ferry out;
- Longer itineraries that carry on to Madeira, the mainland or across the Atlantic.
The long weekend is the one to look at closely. A Friday departure from Farnborough lands at Lanzarote before lunch, local time, and the Monday return reaches the English side in the early evening. Two nights fits the flight better than one, since a single night leaves little more than a dinner. A stay of several days brings the question of the stand back, and we quote both ways: aircraft waiting, or aircraft going home and returning.
Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. Lanzarote generates them because most guests come for a week and an aircraft often cannot wait on the apron that long: it leaves empty or arrives empty.
Where Lanzarote empty legs come from
– The winter weekends. An aircraft brings a party in, goes home empty, and the return half of that round trip becomes a leg for sale;
– Positioning from the mainland or the other islands. Aircraft based in Gran Canaria, Madrid or Malaga fly to Lanzarote for a pick-up, and the sector in the other direction is offered;
– Aircraft moving between Britain, the Canaries and Madeira. A jet on a longer itinerary sometimes passes through Lanzarote and sells the hop.
Because this corridor is thinner than the busy European routes, a client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. What you give up is the usual: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Lanzarote match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
A helicopter on Lanzarote is a tool for the edges of a trip, not a service to assume. We have not found a scheduled tourist helicopter operation on the island, so a flight is arranged on request, with the operator, the landing site and the permissions confirmed before a quote is written.
19 nm in a straight line, against a drive of typically 45 minutesabout 18 minutes
7 nm in a straight line, against 15 km on the roadabout 12 minutes
Timanfaya is a national park where access is regulated and drones are generally forbiddenpermission first
Famara cliff and La Graciosa seen from the air, depending on the operator and the windtypically 30 minutes
Before you plan around a helicopter
– A helicopter cannot land wherever it likes. A landing away from an aerodrome needs an agreed site and the landowner's consent, so we check a villa lawn or a hotel pad before the quote is written, and in a protected area the park rules come first;
– Wind sets the schedule. The island lies open to the Atlantic, and a transfer needs a road alternative planned into the same day;
– Where the machine comes from. If nothing is based on the island it flies in from Gran Canaria or Tenerife, and the positioning is a line in the quote.
The machines that suit this ground are the Airbus H125 for scenic work, the wider H130 for villa and hotel transfers, the H135 and the Bell 429 where a twin engine is wanted. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable.

Arrecife charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
WINTER SUN · LONG WEEKEND
A couple with a villa in Playa Blanca
Farnborough - Arrecife, Phenom 300E, about 3 h 50 min · 2 pax
A Friday departure, lunch on the terrace and a Monday return. The only fixed point was the airport window, so we kept the return leg well inside the closing time and booked the car to the villa with the flight.
NEW YEAR · LARGE FAMILY
Nine people for the holiday fortnight
Biggin Hill - Arrecife, Challenger 350, about 3 h 55 min · 9 pax
The date was fixed by the school holidays and the booking went in in the autumn. The slot and the stand were requested together with the aircraft, and the jet went home and came back for the return, which was cheaper than waiting for a fortnight.
FAMILY WEEK · A DOG ON BOARD
Five people and a spaniel for half-term
Southampton - Arrecife, Citation XLS+, about 4 h · 5 pax + dog
The Animal Health Certificate had to be dated inside ten days of arrival, and the island vet had to see the dog between 24 and 120 hours before the flight home. We booked both with the aircraft, and the villa took the dog.
IRONMAN WEEK · THE NORTH
Six athletes and their bicycles
Manchester - Arrecife, Citation XLS+, about 4 h 15 min · 6 pax
Six seats were enough for the people but the bike cases were another matter, so we quoted the midsize beside a light jet and asked the operator for the hold dimensions. The week is one of the busiest of the year, so the aircraft was confirmed well ahead.
THE NEIGHBOURING ISLAND · A SHORT HOP
A day on Fuerteventura from a villa
Arrecife - Fuerteventura, Pilatus PC-12, 40 minutes · 6 pax
The party arrived by jet from Britain, stayed on Lanzarote and then hopped across in a turboprop for a day, instead of taking the ferry with their luggage. A single booking for both sectors, with the same crew, came in well below two separate quotes.
EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY EVENING HOME
A jet already going your way
Arrecife - London Luton, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 4 h · 3 pax
The aircraft had brought a party for the weekend and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for a Sunday evening departure to the London fields.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Arrecife
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Arrecife?
About 3 hours 50 minutes from Farnborough, 3 hours 55 minutes from Biggin Hill or London City in a Phenom 300E and about 4 hours from Luton, covering roughly 1,518 to 1,558 nautical miles from the London fields. From Manchester allow about 4 hours 15 minutes, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow about 4 hours 25 minutes in a Challenger 350. The Canary Islands keep the same time as Britain, so a seven o'clock departure lands a little before eleven on the island clock.
2How much does a private jet to Arrecife cost?
From about £19,350 one way on a Phenom 300E out of Farnborough, and £19,550 to £19,800 from the other London fields. From Cardiff the same aircraft is priced from £18,950. A Citation XLS+ from Manchester or Leeds runs £25,400 to £25,950, and from Scotland a Challenger 350 costs £33,550 to £33,850. The New Year week and the festival weeks can price above these figures.
3What are the opening hours of Lanzarote airport for a private jet?
The Spanish AIP lists the airport as open from 06:00 to 00:00 in the summer season and from 07:00 to 01:00 in the winter season, in UTC, which is 07:00 to 01:00 local time on the island all year round. Customs, immigration, handling, fuelling and the tower keep the same hours, and movements outside them need special prior permission. A general aviation flight under instrument rules needs a slot request, and handling by a contracted agent is mandatory. We arrange both with the booking.
4Which airport do I use for Arrecife, and is there an alternative?
Lanzarote, César Manrique (ACE / GCRR), the only airport on the island, about 5 km south-west of Arrecife. It has one runway, 03/21, 2,400 m long, with an instrument landing system listed for runway 03. Fuerteventura (FUE / GCFV) lies 34 nautical miles across the channel and is the nearest alternate for a crew, but it is a different island and a ferry or a short flight from Lanzarote.
5Do I need a visa or customs clearance for Lanzarote?
Britain is outside Schengen and the Canary Islands are inside it, so you clear passport control and customs on arrival. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport issued less than ten years before arrival and valid for at least three months after the planned departure from the Schengen area. A first-time visitor may be asked to register a photograph and fingerprints at the EU entry-exit system, which is free. The islands belong to the EU customs territory but not to the EU VAT area, so goods carried on to the mainland may meet a check. We track the paperwork with the aircraft.
6Can I take my dog to Lanzarote on a private jet?
Yes. The dog travels in the cabin with you, and Spain asks for a microchip fitted before or with the rabies vaccination, a vaccination given at 12 weeks or older and at least 21 days old, and an Animal Health Certificate valid for ten days for entry to the EU. A British pet passport cannot be used. For the return, a dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arriving back in Britain. Cats are exempt from the treatment. We confirm the entry point and the paperwork in writing before the flight.
