Private jet charter in China
Thirteen and a half hours is what a Challenger 605 needs to reach Beijing from the south of England, fuel stop included, and the flying is usually the easy part of the arrangement. Private Jets UK builds a Chinese charter around the paperwork that comes first. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. In China that means a landing permit for every airport on the itinerary, a sponsor in each city of arrival and a route that bends well to the south of the straight line, because these three things decide the aircraft, the date and the price long before anyone talks about the cabin.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter to China depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from London Biggin Hill, a Bombardier Challenger 605 to Beijing Capital with one technical stop in Baku and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to China?
China keeps one time zone from the Pacific coast to the western deserts, with no change of clock in summer, so Beijing and Shanghai run seven hours ahead of Britain in the summer and eight in the winter. A departure from a London airfield in the morning lands in the small hours of the next day by the local clock. These are the sectors from London Biggin Hill on the lowest-priced aircraft that can fly them, gate to gate, including about an hour on the ground for every fuel stop:
5,497 nautical miles planned, the capital and the main gatewayabout 13 h 35 min
5,552 nautical miles planned, the port city about 90 km from Beijing, with a business aviation FBO of its ownabout 13 h 40 min
5,296 nautical miles planned, Sichuan and the west of the countryabout 13 h 05 min
5,969 nautical miles planned, the business capital of the east, entered at Hongqiao or Pudongabout 15 h 35 min
5,973 nautical miles planned, the Pearl River Delta, under an hour from Hong Kong by fast trainabout 15 h 35 min
6,101 nautical miles planned, the beach resorts of Hainan at the far southern end of the countryabout 15 h 55 min
Why the line on the map is not the route
The shortest line from London to Beijing is about 4,400 nautical miles, and to Shanghai about 5,000. Our aircraft do not fly it. The planned track runs to the south, over Turkey, the Caucasus and Central Asia, and enters China in the north-west near Urumqi, which makes the Beijing sector 5,497 nautical miles as planned. Each state on the way has its own overflight rules, and the operator or its trip-support company requests the permits together with the passenger and crew details.
We quote the planned distance and never the map distance, so the figure in a quote is the price of the flight that will actually be flown. The corridor itself is fixed with the operator at the planning stage, and we do not promise it before the operator has agreed it.
The same sum decides the stops. The Challenger 605 is rated at 4,000 nautical miles and we plan every leg at about 85 percent of a published range, so Baku, 2,397 nautical miles from Biggin Hill, is the point where it lands, with 3,100 left to Beijing. A Gulfstream G650ER or a Global 7500 carries the whole 5,497 miles without landing, though a full cabin or a headwind can still put a stop into the plan on the day.
The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

Prices for the private jet flights to China
Typical one-way prices from Britain, cheapest first. Beijing leads the table because a Challenger 605 can reach it with a single stop, and the larger cabins further down are the ones that fly to Shanghai, Guangzhou and Sanya with one stop or none. What these figures leave out
– Where in China you land moves the price more than where in Britain you leave. From London Biggin Hill a Challenger 605 reaches Beijing for about £109,300, while the same aircraft needs a second stop to reach Guangzhou and costs about £118,500, a difference of about £9,200. A traveller who can enter at Beijing and take a local aircraft south sometimes saves money, and we price both versions;
– Landing and handling charges at the technical stop, the Chinese permits and the local sponsor service are quoted on top, and so are the airport charges in China. The figures are one-way, and on a sector this long a one-way price includes the empty flight home, since an aircraft that delivers a party to China seldom has a passenger waiting there to bring back.
Private jet flights within China and to its neighbours
Distances in China behave like those of a continent: Beijing to Shanghai is 604 nautical miles, Beijing to Chengdu 875, and Shanghai to Guangzhou 660. These are the hops we are asked for, with Hong Kong, Tokyo and Singapore as the neighbours that clients most often add to a Chinese loop:

Before you plan a Chinese loop
– Every Chinese airport on the itinerary needs its own landing permit and a local sponsor in the same city. One sponsor can cover up to five locations, and an approved permit can be revised only twice, each revision taking two working days, so a trip that keeps changing is the one that ends in a cancelled permit and a fresh application. The whole loop is drawn up at the start and not added to as it goes;
– Whether the aircraft that brought you from Britain may carry you on the local legs, or a Chinese-registered aircraft has to take over, is settled in writing for each itinerary before the quote is final. The short hops are often cheaper and simpler on the high-speed railway or in a local aircraft, and we say so when that is the case.
We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Due to a large database of available business jets, we can help you find an optimal jet and crew. If you have any questions about the departure or the flight itself, you can ask them using the form below:
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for China:
Long range and ultra-long range
The cabins that fly from Britain to Beijing without landing and to Shanghai or Guangzhou with one stop at most. Twelve hours is long enough that a flat bed is the reason to choose them.
Large cabins
The right size for a party of ten with luggage, normally planned with a stop at Baku. The Challenger 605 is the lowest-priced aircraft we plan to Beijing.
Super-midsize
Not for the journey from Britain, but the right size for Beijing to Shanghai, Chengdu or Hong Kong once you are in the country.
Light jets
The aircraft for the short hops between neighbouring cities, for example Beijing to Tianjin or Shanghai to Hangzhou, though the railway is often quicker door to door.
Turboprops
Rarely the answer in China, where the permit counts for more than the miles. Worth asking about only for a short sector to an airfield with a short runway.

For a sector this long we look for an aircraft positioned in the Gulf or in Asia as well as in Britain, so the dates should reach us while they can still move.

Business aviation airports in China
A foreign aircraft can land only at an airport named in its permit, and not every Chinese airport takes international business jets. The first rows of the table are the ones our flights use most; the later rows matter mainly for the onward legs:
| Airport | Ground | How it operates |
|---|---|---|
| Beijing Capital PEK / ZBAA |
about 20 miles (32 km) north-east of the city, 30 to 40 minutes by road | Listed as a 24-hour airport of entry. The FBO is one of the few Western-style ones on the mainland and has an exclusive ramp for business jets. Universal Aviation China and Jetex Beijing are the FBOs we see listed. General aviation departures are prohibited from 07:00 to 09:00 local, with exceptions on request, and between 09:00 and 22:00 general aviation is limited to one movement a day, an arrival or a departure. Slots are required and are confirmed with the landing permit. Immigration officers board the aircraft to check passports, and passengers are then taken to the FBO to clear |
| Beijing Daxing PKX / ZBAD |
about 30 miles (48 km) south of the city, 70 to 80 minutes by road | A 24-hour airport of entry with a newly built FBO, where Universal Aviation China also operates. Business jets may not take off from 07:00 to 09:00 local. Slots are mandatory, requested through the CAAC office and included in the landing permit, with no tolerance on the time, and parking is listed without restrictions. One handling guide describes the field as open to domestic flights only, so international use is confirmed for your date before it goes into a plan |
| Tianjin Binhai TSN / ZBTJ |
about 13 km from downtown Tianjin and about 90 km from Beijing | An exclusive business aviation FBO with a VIP lounge, and an ExecuJet Haite maintenance base on the field. A natural alternative field for Beijing, and customs arrangements are confirmed for each flight |
| Shanghai Hongqiao SHA / ZSSS |
about 7 miles (11 km) from the centre, about 25 minutes by road | The business airport of Shanghai, with an FBO that has customs and immigration, normally staffed from 08:00 to 22:00. The runway is typically closed from 00:01 to 06:00 and general aviation departures are not allowed from 07:00 to 09:00. Parking is typically limited to 72 hours, with limits on stand size for the largest aircraft. The international side of the FBO has at times been closed for works, so we confirm its status for your date |
| Shanghai Pudong PVG / ZSPD |
about 20 miles (32 km) from the centre, about an hour by road | Open 24 hours but with no FBO: passengers go through a VVIP area and the crew through the main terminal. No general aviation departures from 07:00 to 09:00. Parking is typically limited to two consecutive nights, slots are usually requested two to three days ahead, and an inspection officer boards the aircraft on arrival. Flights between Pudong and Hongqiao are not permitted |
| Hangzhou HGH / ZSHC |
about an hour from Shanghai by fast train | A 24-hour airport of entry with full general aviation support, and the usual place to move an aircraft that has reached its parking limit at Shanghai. Nanjing is the other fallback for parking |
| Guangzhou Baiyun CAN / ZGGG |
about 30 km north of the centre | Listed as open round the clock with customs, slots required and handling mandatory. Universal Aviation Guangzhou runs a separate general aviation apron with VIP halls and its own customs. Five runways, the longest 3,800 metres |
| Shenzhen Bao'an SZX / ZGSZ |
32 km west-north-west of the centre | Listed as open round the clock with customs, an airport of entry, slots required and a coordinated airport, with every flight by prior permission. Handling is listed as not mandatory. Three runways, the longest 3,800 metres |
| Chengdu Shuangliu CTU / ZUUU |
western China | Handles nearly all of Chengdu's business aviation. The newer Tianfu airport sees very few business jet movements, so Shuangliu is where we plan. We name the FBO and the clearance arrangements in the quote for your date |
| Sanya Phoenix SYX / ZJSY |
southern tip of Hainan | The gateway for the beach resorts. Universal Aviation arranges permits, catering and ground transport here, and Jet Service China and Fastransit are listed as handlers |
| Hong Kong and Macau HKG / VHHH and MFM / VMMC |
the Pearl River estuary | Separate from the mainland for permits, customs and immigration. Hong Kong has a single business aviation terminal, limited apron space with remote stands, and needs a landing permit, a slot and parking approval; flights between Hong Kong and the mainland need the Chinese permits as well. Macau is about 40 minutes from Hong Kong by van and 15 minutes by helicopter |
Four constraints shape every schedule into Beijing or Shanghai:
A permit for every landing
Each Chinese airport on the itinerary needs its own landing approval, a sponsor in the same city and the names and passport details of everyone aboard. An airport that is not in the permit is not an airport you can land at.
The slot comes with the permit
At Beijing Capital the slot is confirmed automatically when the landing permit is approved and is valid for 30 minutes after the stated time, with slot times given in UTC. Nothing is requested separately.
No departures from 07:00 to 09:00
General aviation departures are prohibited from 07:00 to 09:00 local at Beijing Capital, Daxing, Pudong and Hongqiao. A morning departure is planned for the hour after nine, and the exceptions are asked for in advance.
One movement a day at the Capital
Between 09:00 and 22:00 Beijing Capital allows general aviation one movement a day. Two slots on the same day can sometimes be obtained with three to four days' notice, and technical stops and crew rests are usually not accepted there.
Where the aircraft waits
Beijing Capital has five self-taxi general aviation bays, and most aircraft are towed to parking areas 5 to 10 minutes by road from the FBO. Hangar space for foreign-registered aircraft is not available. At Shanghai the limits are 72 hours at Hongqiao and two consecutive nights at Pudong, so a long Chinese stay means moving the aircraft to Hangzhou, Nanjing or, for Beijing, to a field such as Tianjin, and the cost of that positioning is agreed before the figure is.
Arriving from Britain: visas, permits and sponsors
A British passport holder can usually enter without a visa, the aircraft needs permissions in its own name, and every arrival is a check of people, cabin and catering. None of it is hard, and all of it takes time.
British citizens may enter for up to 30 days for business, tourism, visiting family or friends, or transit. The arrangement runs for a limited period, so we check its end date before every booking. Paid work, journalism, study or a longer stay needs a visa applied for in advanceup to 30 days
Valid for at least six months after the date of arrival, with two blank pagesevery passenger
Immigration officers may take fingerprints and photographs on arrivalat the border
Temperature screening may be used on arrival, and rarely swabs, blood tests or a medical examination. A yellow fever certificate is needed if you arrive from a country with a transmission riskif asked
The three approvals behind every arrival
The landing permit. The Chinese civil aviation authority wants the application at least three working days before arrival, and older guidance spoke of five, so we plan on a week. It asks for the schedule, the entry and exit points, and the name, passport number, date of birth and nationality of every person aboard. Aircraft documents are not required for an aircraft with fewer than 30 seats.
The sponsor. A letter on company letterhead from a company or institution in the city of arrival, normally about a week to obtain. Hotels and travel agencies cannot act as sponsor, and one sponsor can cover up to five locations.
The overflight. The authority issues a separate permit for the entry over the north-west, with a standard lead time of seven days, and the other states along the corridor typically need 24 to 72 hours each according to one trip-support source. The operator or its support company files them together.
Catering follows its own rules. Orders go to the handler at least 24 hours before departure, fresh fruit and vegetables are confiscated by customs, and refrigerated items stay on the aircraft. A prepaid car with a driver avoids the language problem at the aircraft door, and the Hilton Capital Airport is about 10 minutes from the Capital FBO.
Hong Kong and Macau have different entry rules from the mainland, and each has its own page on the Foreign Office website. A traveller who goes from Hong Kong to the mainland and back needs a mainland visa that allows a second entry. Coming home is a flight into Britain: a General Aviation Report goes to the border authorities not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departure, and British and Irish citizens need no electronic travel authorisation for Britain.

Which airport for which part of China
Choose the airport by the address you are going to, and then check it against the permit. These are the usual pairings:
Capital is 30 to 40 minutes from the centre, and Tianjin offers a quieter field about 90 km awayBeijing Capital
Hongqiao is the business airport, about 25 minutes from the centre, and Pudong is the 24-hour alternative about an hour awayHongqiao or Pudong
the fastest trains cover the 1,318 km in a little over four hours, so the long leg from Britain is flown once and the railway links the two citiesjet, then train
Hong Kong is 142 km by fast train, from 47 minutes, and Shenzhen is 102 km, from 29 minutesGuangzhou or Shenzhen
separate permits, separate immigration, and a landing slot that has to be booked; Macau is 15 minutes from Hong Kong by helicopterHong Kong
nearly all of Chengdu's business aviation is at ShuangliuChengdu
Yalong Bay, Dadonghai and Haitang Bay all lie along the southern coast of the islandSanya
a winter destination for the ice festival, reached by a domestic leg after the border has been cleared elsewhere; handling is confirmed for the dateBeijing, then onward
Beijing, Shanghai, the Pearl River Delta and Hainan: what our clients go for
Beijing is where the sightseeing sits. The municipality has about 21.9 million people, and the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven and the Summer Palace are all World Heritage sites. The Great Wall at Mutianyu, a 2,250 metre section with 22 watchtowers, is about 70 km from the centre.
Shanghai is where the diary fills. The Chinese Grand Prix runs in March at the Shanghai International Circuit in Jiading, about 45 minutes from the centre by car, Fashion Week and a spring music festival share the month, and the import expo takes over the exhibition halls in the autumn. The city's airport group calls March the month of the business jet.
The Pearl River Delta is the manufacturing heart of the country. Guangzhou's Canton Fair fills the hotels and the aprons twice a year, Hong Kong and Shenzhen are a short train ride away, and Zhuhai holds the biennial air show in November.
Hainan is the leisure end of the country. Sanya has more than 100 hotels, among them an Atlantis resort, and the Haitang Bay duty-free centre is the largest in China.
The north-east turns the other way in winter. The ice and snow festival at Harbin opens in late December and runs until late February, in a city where winter averages about -17 degrees and nights of -25 are not unusual, so a short walk from the aircraft to a warm car matters.
Chinese seasons: a cold north, a wet summer and a tropical south
China spans several climates at once, and the month decides the airport as much as the address does:
Beijing averages -2.7 degrees in January, and de-icing may be needed before departure; Harbin averages about -17 degrees for the winter, while Sanya's coolest month averages 22.3 degreescold north, warm south
spring sandstorms blow in from the Gobi Desert to Beijing, and the monsoon rains of Guangzhou begin in April and are heaviest in May and Junedust in the north, rain in the south
close to three-quarters of Beijing's 528 mm of rain falls from June to August, July averages 27.2 degrees, and humidity in Guangzhou reaches about 82 percent in Junewet and hot
Sanya's wettest months are August to October, with September the wettest at 248.5 mm, while October to December is the best time in Guangzhouwet in Hainan, best in the delta
The holiday weeks that close the gaps
One handler's guide lists the New Year holiday, Chinese New Year, the Labour Day holiday in early May, the Dragon Boat Festival, and the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival period in the first week of October as peak periods. Slots and parking are tight then, and permits are requested as early as the dates are known.
The Chinese calendar: new year, a grand prix, two trade fairs and an ice festival
Few dates matter, but they matter a great deal, and each pulls on a different airport:
What a Chinese event does to a flight plan
The big dates fill the hotels and the aprons at the same time. Hongqiao's parking limit of 72 hours and Pudong's two nights shrink to nothing in an expo week, so an aircraft that has to wait for you is moved to Hangzhou or Nanjing before the event starts. Slots follow the permit, so the permit is requested as soon as the dates are public.

Flying to China with a dog or a cat
China admits dogs and cats, but the paperwork is detailed and the way home is the harder half. Planning it in the right order is the difference between a holiday with the animal and a quarantine bill.
What China asks for on the way in
The customs authority admits dogs and cats only, one pet per person for each entry, through a port that has quarantine facilities. The animal needs a microchip, and vaccination and quarantine certificates issued by the official veterinary authority of the country it leaves, which for an animal leaving Britain is a specific export health certificate signed by an Official Veterinarian. A rabies antibody titre above 0.5 IU/ml is required for animals from countries that are not on the Chinese list of designated countries, and a quarantine period of 30 days can follow.
Which airport in the permit has quarantine facilities, and whether Britain counts as a designated country for the titre, we confirm in writing before the animal is booked.
The way back needs more thought than the way out. Mainland China does not appear in the list of countries from which Britain accepts a pet on simpler terms, and Macau does not either, though Hong Kong does. For a dog or a cat coming from an unlisted country Britain requires a Great Britain pet health certificate and a rabies blood test:
- A rabies vaccination first, then a blood sample taken at least 30 days after it, sent by the vet to an approved laboratory, with a result of 0.5 IU/ml or higher;
- A wait of three months from the date of the sample before the animal may travel to Britain, and the sample stays valid for as long as the rabies vaccinations are kept up to date;
- A Great Britain pet health certificate for the journey;
- For a dog, a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival in Britain;
- Quarantine for up to four months if the rules are not met.
Because the blood test stays valid while the vaccinations are current, the sensible plan is to have the sample taken at home months before the trip, so that the three months have passed before the return flight. An animal sampled in China has to wait out the three months there. For a private flight we confirm the entry point and the paperwork for the animal in writing before the flight.
Other destinations, and the general rules for travelling with an animal on a private jet, are set out on our flying with pets guide.

Empty Legs
An empty leg is a flight the operator has to make anyway, with the cabin vacant, and so it is priced low rather than flown for nothing. The saving on this route is large in cash, and so is the catch.
Why empty legs to China are scarce
– Every aircraft that delivers a party to China has to leave again, and holding one on a Chinese apron is limited by the parking rules and costly besides, so operators usually fly it home. The westbound legs are the useful ones;
– The aircraft is seldom in the right place: a leg from Chengdu to Manchester suits a client in Chengdu and not one in Shanghai, so a match needs the right city as well as the right week;
– A permit goes with the date, so a leg that moves by a day moves the slot and sometimes the permit.
Clients who offer a month instead of a day match most often, although the operator owns the date and a leg can vanish when the original booking changes. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page. A selection of Chinese empty legs follows, at roughly 40 percent of a fresh charter:
| Route | Aircraft | Capacity | Whole aircraft |

Reading the empty-leg prices
– The price covers the whole aircraft, not a seat. A Gulfstream G550 from Chengdu to Manchester with eight aboard comes to about £8,000 a head;
– The cost to you is flexibility: the date, often the hour, sometimes the airport. The saving looks large only because the fresh charter it is measured against is large.

Helicopter charter
In China the helicopter is a short-hop tool inside a city region, booked through an operator approved by the civil aviation authority. The best-documented service is in Shanghai, where a flight base in the Longhua district connects the city to the financial district of Lujiazui, and the best-known crossing is the one between Hong Kong and Macau:
about 24 km along the Huangpu River at a height of 200 to 300 metres, for up to five passengersabout 10 minutes
on request through an approved operatorabout 20 minutes
the shortest way between the two business aviation fields, instead of the roadabout 15 minutes
helicopter transfers on request through approved operators; we confirm availability and the landing site for your dateby arrangement
A helicopter suits the first stretch out of a city and not an intercity hop, where the fast railway or a jet with a permit does the job better. Landing at a hotel, a private site or a resort needs the site agreed in advance, and the rotary leg is booked together with the rest of the itinerary so that the crews work to one schedule.

Chinese charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
The six trips below are typical jobs assembled from booking notes with the details changed, so none of them is one named client or one date.
BEIJING · THE LOWEST-PRICED WAY IN
Two directors with a morning meeting in the capital
London Biggin Hill - Beijing Capital, Challenger 605 via Baku, about 13 h 35 min · 4 pax
They had assumed an ultra-long-range jet was the only way to China. The Challenger 605 reaches Beijing with one stop at Baku, and the permits were filed in the same week as the booking, which is what made the date possible.
SHANGHAI · THE MORNING THAT DOES NOT EXIST
An investor who wanted to leave before breakfast
London Stansted - Shanghai Hongqiao, Global 6000 via Baku, about 13 h 30 min · 6 pax
The return was planned for a departure at 08:00. General aviation departures are prohibited in Shanghai between 07:00 and 09:00, so the slot was moved to the hour after nine, the car to the aircraft was rebooked, and the breakfast became a late one.
GUANGZHOU · FAIR WEEK
Buyers for the autumn Canton Fair
London Biggin Hill - Guangzhou, Global 6000 via Baku, about 13 h 30 min · 7 pax
Hotels and aprons were both full, so the aircraft was positioned to a quieter airport during the week and brought back for the departure. The party took the fast train to Shenzhen for two meetings, 102 km in about half an hour.
CHENGDU · ONE AIRPORT, NOT TWO
A manufacturer visiting a plant in the west
Manchester - Chengdu, Gulfstream G550 nonstop, about 11 h 25 min · 8 pax
Chengdu has two airports, but almost all of its business aviation uses Shuangliu, and that was the airport written into the permit. The sponsor was the plant itself, which had the letter ready within the week.
SANYA · WINTER SUN
A family leaving a grey January
London Biggin Hill - Sanya, Global 7500 nonstop, about 12 h 35 min · 8 pax
Sanya's coolest month averages 22.3 degrees, which is the whole argument. The aircraft did not wait for the party: it went on to its next job and came back for the return.
EMPTY LEG · HOMEWARD FROM GUANGZHOU
A flexible return after a long stay
Guangzhou - London Biggin Hill, Global 6000 empty leg, about 13 h 30 min · 5 pax
Offering a week in place of a date is what made this one work. The client paid about £67,400, roughly 40 percent of a fresh one-way charter on the same sector, and left when the aircraft was ready to leave.
Frequently asked questions about flying to China
1Can a private jet fly from London to Beijing nonstop?
Yes, in an ultra-long-range cabin. A Gulfstream G650ER or a Bombardier Global 7500 can fly the planned 5,497 nautical miles without landing, and a Gulfstream G550 clears the same test on paper. Smaller aircraft land once, usually at Baku, and a Challenger 605 needs a second stop to reach Shanghai or Guangzhou. A full cabin or a headwind can still put a stop into the plan on the day.
2How long does a private jet take from the UK to China?
About 11 hours 20 minutes to Beijing nonstop in a G650ER, and about 13 hours 35 minutes in a Challenger 605 with a stop at Baku, including the stop. Shanghai and Guangzhou add about an hour in an ultra-long-range jet and about two in a Challenger 605, which needs a second stop. China uses one time zone all year, which puts it seven hours ahead of Britain in summer and eight in winter.
3How much does a private jet to China cost?
From about £109,300 one way from London Biggin Hill to Beijing Capital on a Challenger 605 with a stop at Baku. Larger cabins cost more, and the ultra-long-range jets that fly nonstop cost from about £174,700 to Beijing. Shanghai, Guangzhou and Sanya cost more than Beijing because the sectors are longer. Handling at the stop, the Chinese permits and the local sponsor are quoted on top, and an empty leg in the right direction costs roughly 40 percent of a fresh charter.
4What do passengers need to enter China on a private flight?
British citizens may enter without a visa for up to 30 days for business, tourism, visiting family or friends, or transit, under an arrangement that runs for a limited period and is checked before every booking. The passport must be valid for at least six months after arrival, with two blank pages. The aircraft needs a landing permit for each airport, a sponsor in each city of arrival and the overflight permits, and we file them together.
5Can my dog or cat travel with me to China on a private jet?
Yes, with heavy paperwork. China admits dogs and cats, one pet per person for each entry, with a microchip, official vaccination and quarantine certificates and, for some countries, a rabies antibody titre, and a 30-day quarantine can follow. Coming home, Britain treats mainland China as an unlisted country, which means a rabies blood test, a three-month wait from the sample date and a Great Britain pet health certificate, so the blood sample is best taken at home well before the trip.
6Which airports can a private jet use to enter China?
Beijing Capital, Shanghai Hongqiao and Pudong, Hangzhou, Guangzhou Baiyun and Shenzhen Bao'an are the main airports of entry for business jets, with Tianjin, Chengdu Shuangliu and Sanya Phoenix as further options. Every landing needs a permit naming the airport. General aviation departures are prohibited from 07:00 to 09:00 at Beijing Capital, Daxing, Pudong and Hongqiao, and Beijing Capital allows general aviation one movement a day between 09:00 and 22:00.
