private jet with a parrot

When planning a trip by plane with a parrot or other feathered pet, it is necessary to start collecting a package of documents in advance – if there is the absence of even one certificate, the import of a pet to another country may be refused. The Private Jets UK air broker is ready to take full responsibility for the organization of a business jet flight within the UK and throughout Europe. Our employees know all the nuances of transporting animals and birds on airplanes, are well-versed in the rules of each state, and, if necessary, provide all possible assistance to flight customers in collecting veterinary certificates and permits.

Conditions of flight with a parrot

Birds can be transported both on civil aviation aircraft and on business jets. In the first case, a place for a cage with a bird may not always be allocated in the cabin. A luggage compartment is most often offered for transportation. Using the services of business aviation, the customer of the flight will be able to take the parrot with him/her to the salon without any restrictions if the following rules are observed:

  • The bird is completely healthy. Before the flight, it should be examined by a veterinarian and given an appropriate certificate;
  • The bird must spend the entire flight in a well-ventilated container. It is necessary to purchase cells from those companies that provide a certificate for their products. The container cage should be locked, and there should be an adsorbing impregnation on its bottom. The size of the cage should allow the parrot to move freely in it and fully straighten its wings;
  • Only one bird is allowed to be transported in a cage;
  • It is not allowed to release the bird on board the aircraft during the flight.

If you want to fly abroad with a parrot for a bird, you will need to collect a package of documents. Their number depends on the requirements of the destination country, so this point must be specified in advance. It is best to plan a flight with a feathered bird in just a few months since some certificates are prepared for quite a long time. Private Jets UK knows all the rules of air transportation of birds in Europe and in the UK. We can take over a part of the work of collecting documents, which is negotiated individually.

prices for business jet flights

Rental price

The price of a flight on a private plane is determined individually in each case. The rental price includes:

  1. Fuel costs, which is approximately 30% of the total costs;
  2. Aircraft air navigation services;
  3. Remuneration of pilots and flight attendants;
  4. Airport parking costs;
  5. Maintenance of the board.

The cost of renting a business jet also depends on the number of passengers, the type of liner and the year of its release, the route. The price increases if the passenger orders individual meals and makes special requirements for the equipment ocabin’s equipmentf the cabin.

The price of one flight hour also depends on the type of aircraft:

  • A flight on a large plane, for example, on the Legacy 600, costs from 5800 to 6800 euros per hour;
  • A flight hour on a business liner costs about 12 thousand euros;
  • Flying on light and small aircraft costs about 3 thousand euros on average;
  • Turboprops cost 10,000 euros per flight hour;
  • The flight hour of long-haul vessels costs from 6 to 11 thousand euros.

The calculation of the aircraft lease is carried out after clarifying all the nuances of the application. The cost is prescribed in the contract and changes only when the client adjusts the contract terms.

We can offer particularly favorable conditions for domestic flights in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and European countries. It is possible due to the large volume of flights in these regions and favorable partnership conditions with the aircraft owners.

Pan-European rules for flying with birds

If you visit any country, you can travel with a feathered friend only with a veterinary passport and a certificate of health status. Flights with a bird abroad are subject to stricter requirements, there are general rules and a number of specific ones imposed on specific states. You can find out all the current requirements at the consulate, from the tour operator, or from the representative of the air broker where you order the business jet rental.

When flying between European countries, the border and veterinary service of the landing airport requires the presentation of:

  1. International veterinary passport;
  2. Veterinary certificate issued in form No 1;
  3. A certificate from a licensed veterinary clinic confirming the absence of health problems in birds;
  4. Purchase and sale agreement or other document confirming the legal ownership of the parrot;
  5. A certificate that the bird is chipped or ringed. The presence of a chip, if you haven’t put it to the bird yourself, you need to check whether it is done with an X-ray;
  6. The results of tests confirming the absence of ornithosis, avian flu, helminths in the bird;
  7. An act confirming the quarantine of the feathered. The quarantine usually lasts 30 days, and during this period, the bird is periodically tested for infections;
  8. Biological veterinary card.

A veterinary passport for the bird for air transportation between countries must be issued in two languages (the information must be duplicated in Latin). It must indicate the age of the pet, the nickname, the breed of the parrot. The microchip number and the results of tests for infections are entered in the passport.

If you want to transport a number of parrots abroad, you need to get a CITES permit. This organization controls the movement, sale, and purchase of rare birds. The CITES certificate confirms that the bird is your property and you do not plan to sell it. A separate permit is taken for sale.

Rules for the import and export of parrots by plane in England

On the territory of the UK, the export and import of parrots are subject to pan-European rules. Before flying to this country, a certificate of the bird's health is received no later than 5 days before departure. When passing customs control, veterinary certificate No. 1 is changed to certificate No. 5, it must be kept until departure from the country.

Parrots can be imported and exported to England and other countries of the United Kingdom without hindrance if they are not included in the CITES list, it includes valuable and rare bird breeds, the sale of which is strictly controlled.

Permission to import and export from the UK from CITES must be taken if the breed of your parrot is:

  • Amazonian. This is a large group of birds, including Cuban, yellow-headed, lilac, and other parrots, originally living in the Caribbean in South America;
  • Macaw - hyacinth macaw, scarlet macaw, red-and-green macaw, blue-throated macaw, great military macaw, thick-billed parrot;
  • Cockatoo – lesser sulphur-crested cockatoo, Goffin, Moluccas, great black;
  • African grey parrot;
  • Green-cheeked parakeet;
  • Red-and-blue lory.

If you need to clarify whether your parrot is rare, you can visit the CITES website. Wavy parrots and corellas are freely passed through. Before importing birds to EU countries or to the UK, the veterinary service of the airport must be notified of arrival no later than 48 hours before the arrival of the aircraft. They do it in writing.

Rules of transportation of parrots in the cabin of a business jet

On a private plane, a parrot and other birds are transported in accordance with the rules adopted in aviation. The pet should be in a cage for the entire flight, it is not recommended to release it, since there is a place to hide on board. The cage is best placed next to the next seat, so the owner of the bird will be able to control its entire flight.

In the EU countries, strict requirements are imposed on the cage. It must be certified, have a reliable lock, and handle, and be well ventilated. At the bottom, there should be an absorbent diaper and fixators for a drinking bowl and a bowl with food. It is best to show the parrot to the veterinarian within 2-3 weeks before the planned flight, he/she will be able to prescribe a sedative for particularly restless birds, which it is recommended to start taking within 7-10 days before departure. You need to take a dense darkening cape with you on the flight, most birds calm down faster under cover, which is especially important on long trips.

No documents are required to board the business jet for the bird itself. All permits and certificates are checked by the customs service before check-in for the flight. The documents must be collected in full since they are checked especially carefully, not during departure, but after landing, and if some of them are not, then the bird will simply not be allowed into the country. In this case, the pets are quarantined, and the owner will have to pay for their stay. It should also be borne in mind that when passing through customs inspection, employees may demand to release the cage for its inspection, so you need to take care in advance of buying a carrier or harness with which you can keep the feathered.

Advantages of business aviation

Our company has been organizing flights on private planes in the UK and European countries for more than 14 years. We regularly carry out private flights with pets and are well-informed in this direction.

When ordering a private plane from us for air travel with a parrot, each client can count on:

  1. Getting complete information on preparing for the flight. After determining the direction of flight, the personal manager will immediately provide a list of documents that will need to be collected for the bird;
  2. The ability to choose a business jet depending on your preferences. The company has hundreds of aircraft in its database that differ in passenger capacity, speed, and cabin equipment;
  3. Comfortable conditions on board. Traveling on our planes with a parrot, you don't have to worry about the fact that the bird will be uncomfortable in the cabin. There are no drafts in business jets, noises are suppressed by special complexes, and the pressure during the flight is continuously equalized. Flying on a private plane is also convenient because there are few passengers in the cabin, that is, the bird will not experience severe stress from a lot of unfamiliar faces;
  4. Additional services. If the customer wishes, we will arrange a transfer, book a hotel room or an apartment, choosing those VIP options where guests with birds are accepted. We offer individual meals to our customers, including the option where you can specify what the bird will need to eat during the trip.

Private Jets UK organizes flights on a business jet with a bird or a pet only to those airports where there is a veterinary control service; otherwise, they will refuse entry into the country. If you have a pet in the UK, you will often fly to airports such as Heathrow, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh. We will be glad to help you with the organization of the flight!
