Hire a Private Jet to Palma de Mallorca

Palma de Mallorca is the capital of the Balearic Islands and one of the most sought-after private jet destinations in the Mediterranean - a city of remarkable architectural heritage, a world-class superyacht marina, a Michelin-starred restaurant scene that has transformed the island's culinary reputation over the past decade, and immediate access to 250 kilometres of coastline ranging from the dramatic limestone cliffs of the Tramuntana mountains to the sheltered turquoise coves of the island's east coast. Mallorca attracts private aviation clients across a longer season than almost any other Mediterranean destination - the island's mild winters, proximity to the UK and strong infrastructure mean that private jet arrivals at Palma continue year-round, with summer peaks between June and September driven by leisure and superyacht clients, and a growing spring and autumn season driven by cycling, golf and food tourism. Private jet charter flights to Palma de Mallorca arrive at Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI / LEPA), located 8 km east of the city centre. The London to Palma sector is 728 nautical miles, approximately 2 hours 3 minutes on a Citation XLS+ - making Palma one of the closest major Mediterranean island destinations from the UK by private jet.

Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI / LEPA) is the main international airport serving the Balearic Islands, located 8 km east of Palma city centre in the Son Sant Joan district. The airport has two runways and handles both commercial and business aviation traffic. Private jets use the dedicated general aviation terminal on the north side of the airport, with VIP lounge facilities and ramp access. Journey time from the airport to Palma city centre (the Cathedral, the Old Town, the Passeig des Born) is approximately 15 to 20 minutes by chauffeured car. For clients heading directly to superyacht berths at the Real Club Nautico or the marina at Port Adriano, transfers of 15 to 30 minutes can be arranged. The airport has a 3,000-metre main runway accommodating all aircraft categories including long-range jets and business liners. A second option for some Mallorca visits is Son Bonet Aerodrome (LESB) in Marratxi, a smaller general aviation field located north-west of Palma used for light aircraft and helicopters, though most private jet clients use PMI.

Key Information:

  • Typical flight time from London to Palma: approximately 2 hours 3 minutes;
  • Private jet charter prices: from £8,900 (from London, light jet);
  • Airport: Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI / LEPA), 8 km east of city centre;
  • Ibiza: 75 nm west - approximately 25 minutes by jet;
  • Menorca: 71 nm north-east - approximately 25 minutes by jet;
  • Barcelona: 109 nm north-west - approximately 30 minutes by jet;
  • Most popular aircraft: Citation XLS+, Challenger 300, Phenom 300;
  • Peak demand: June to September (summer season), Easter week, Christmas and New Year, Palma Boat Show (April), Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix (May - Barcelona but drives Mallorca superyacht traffic).

Palma draws private aviation clients for three main reasons. Leisure and superyacht travel is the dominant category: Mallorca is the most important superyacht destination in the western Mediterranean after Monaco, and the island's marinas - particularly the Club de Mar, the Real Club Nautico and the ultra-luxury Port Adriano designed by Philippe Starck - attract vessels from 30 to 100+ metres throughout the season. Clients often fly in to join their yacht in Palma before continuing to Ibiza, Formentera or the Balearic island circuit by sea. Second, Mallorca has developed into one of Europe's leading cycling and active sports destinations - the Tramuntana mountains provide world-class road cycling conditions, and the island hosts professional cycling teams and enthusiasts from across Europe from February to June. Third, Palma itself has emerged as a genuinely sophisticated city destination - the Cathedral (La Seu), the Arab Baths, the Bellver Castle, the Es Baluard contemporary art museum and the concentration of design hotels and Michelin-starred restaurants in the Old Town make it a compelling short-break destination in its own right.

Private jet charter prices to Palma from London start from approximately £8,900 on a Citation XLS+ for the 728 nautical mile sector. The final cost depends on aircraft type, departure airport and passenger numbers.

reservation and payment for a private jet flight

Palma is a year-round private aviation destination with a pronounced summer peak. The busiest period runs from mid-June to mid-September, when aircraft availability at PMI can be constrained and we recommend booking 4 to 6 weeks ahead for peak summer dates. The shoulder seasons - April to June and September to October - offer excellent weather, more relaxed availability and competitive pricing. The island is increasingly popular for cycling holidays from February to May, and Christmas and New Year generate a secondary demand peak for families combining the island's mild winter with superyacht and villa stays.

Prices for the private jet flights to Palma

The London to Palma sector of 728 nautical miles sits at a comfortable range for the Citation XLS+ and Challenger 300, making these the most popular aircraft categories from UK airports. The 2-hour sector means that even smaller light jets and turboprops can operate the route comfortably, while clients wanting more cabin space for family groups or extensive luggage for a longer Mallorca stay tend to choose the Challenger 300 class for its generous hold.

Palma is one of the most price-sensitive private aviation routes from the UK due to the high volume of traffic on the corridor - operators frequently have aircraft already positioned in or near London for the Balearics season, which keeps positioning costs competitive. The peak summer period (July and August) is the significant exception: demand at PMI is intense, aircraft availability tightens, and prices reflect the compression of supply. For July and August travel, booking 6 to 8 weeks ahead is strongly recommended.

The island hop from Palma to Ibiza (75 nm, approximately 25 minutes) is one of the most frequently arranged short sectors in our Balearics network - clients fly into Palma and continue to Ibiza the same day, or complete the return journey via Palma after a few days on the island circuit. Menorca (71 nm, 25 minutes) is another common addition for clients doing a Balearic multi-stop.

Below are the approximate prices for the flights performed this year. TOP 7 options:

  1. from London to Palma, 8 passengers, by Citation XLS+ - 8,900 GBP;
  2. from London to Palma, 9 passengers, by Challenger 300 - 13,200 GBP;

Palma de Mallorca - destination overview

Palma de Mallorca is the capital of the Balearic Islands and one of the most genuinely surprising cities in the Mediterranean - a place that confounds the expectation that a mass-tourism island capital would be architecturally undistinguished and gastronomically predictable. The old city of Palma is exceptional: a compact historic core of Gothic churches, Renaissance palaces, Arab baths, covered markets and winding medieval lanes centred on the extraordinary Cathedral of Santa Maria (La Seu), begun in 1229 and completed over four centuries, its flying buttresses reaching directly from the sea wall over the harbour. The area around the Cathedral - the Almudaina Palace, the Banys Arabs, the Carrer del Conqueridor, the Placa Major - constitutes one of the best-preserved medieval city centres in Spain.

The transformation of Palma's restaurant and hotel scene over the past fifteen years has been among the most rapid in Mediterranean Europe. The city now has a serious concentration of high-end dining - Adrián Quetglas (one Michelin star), Marc Fosh (one Michelin star in the Relais & Chateaux Hotel Convent de la Missio) and a cluster of strong independent restaurants in the Santa Catalina neighbourhood that would hold their own in any European capital. The hotel infrastructure has kept pace: Can Cera, the Nixe Palace, the Castillo Hotel Son Vida and the Hotel Sant Francesc in the old town represent a range of accommodation from historic palau conversions to contemporary design hotels, all within easy reach of the Cathedral district.

Beyond the city, Mallorca divides into distinct landscapes that attract different private aviation client profiles. The north-west of the island - the Serra de Tramuntana, declared a UNESCO World Heritage landscape in 2011 - is the domain of road cyclists, hikers and those seeking the classic whitewashed villages of Deya, Valldemossa and Soller with their artist colonies, lemon groves and dramatic cliff roads above the sea. The south-west coast from Andratx to Port Adriano is the superyacht and luxury villa quarter - Port Adriano's Philippe Starck-designed marina is the most architecturally ambitious in the Balearics, and the Andratx valley contains some of the island's most expensive private estates. The east coast, from Cala d'Or through Santanyi to Cala Llombards, offers the island's finest beaches - small, sheltered, turquoise-floored coves backed by pine forest that have remained relatively undeveloped compared to the south. The Tramuntana foothills around Binissalem and Inca constitute the island's wine country, with a growing number of serious producers working with the indigenous Callet and Manto Negro varietals.

Where to stay in Palma

Palma's hotel offer has expanded significantly in quality over the past decade. The city now has genuine luxury options across different styles and locations:

  • Hotel Sant Francesc. A 16th-century palace in the old city converted into a 42-room luxury hotel around a Renaissance courtyard. Rooftop pool with Cathedral views, ground-floor restaurant with a serious wine list. The best address in the old town for clients who want to walk to the Cathedral, the Llotja and the Passeig des Born;
  • Castillo Hotel Son Vida. A Moorish castle above Palma with 93 rooms, three golf courses and a full spa. The most established luxury address on the island, favoured by clients who want resort facilities alongside a city base. Approximately 10 minutes by car from the centre;
  • Can Cera. A 17th-century palace in the old town converted to a 12-room boutique hotel. One of Mallorca's most intimate luxury addresses - the antithesis of the resort hotel model;
  • Hotel Nixe Palace. A classic 1960s Mediterranean luxury hotel on the Cala Major waterfront west of Palma - private beach, sea-view rooms, a calm that contrasts with the busier centre. Ten minutes from the old city;
  • Cap Vermell Grand Hotel. A large contemporary resort at Canyamel on the east coast, for clients who want to combine Palma access with a more remote beach base. Approximately 60 minutes from PMI by car;
  • Villa rental in the Tramuntana (Deya / Soller area). For clients wanting complete privacy - the mountain villages of the north-west have a high concentration of luxury villa rentals set among olive and citrus groves with mountain or sea views. We can arrange villa selection and management through our concierge network.

What to do in Palma and Mallorca

  • Road cycling in the Tramuntana. The Serra de Tramuntana is the premier road cycling destination in Europe for serious cyclists. The Sa Calobra climb (10.1 km, 7% average gradient), the Puig Major summit and the Col de Soller are benchmarks of Mediterranean cycling. Professional teams train here from January to April. We arrange high-end bike hire and route planning through our Palma concierge contacts;
  • Superyacht and sailing. Mallorca is the most active superyacht hub in the western Mediterranean outside Monaco. The Real Club Nautico de Palma hosts the Copa del Rey regatta in August. Port Adriano on the south-west coast accommodates vessels up to 80 metres. We arrange berth bookings and yacht connections as part of multi-modal itineraries;
  • Golf. Mallorca has eleven golf courses of varying quality. Son Vida Golf (Son Muntaner, Son Vida and Son Quint courses) adjacent to the castle hotel is the most convenient for Palma visitors. Golf Son Gual in the Palma hills is considered the island's most technically demanding layout;
  • Old town Palma. The Cathedral (La Seu), the Almudaina Royal Palace, the Arab Baths (Banys Arabs, 10th century), the Llotja (15th-century merchants exchange), the Es Baluard contemporary art museum and the Fundacio Pilar i Joan Miro are all within walking distance of each other in a compact historic centre that rewards a slow half-day on foot;
  • Wineries and gastronomy. The Binissalem DO wine region in the centre of the island produces increasingly serious red wines from indigenous varietals. The Bodegas Macià Batle, Jose L. Ferrer and Anima Negra are worth visiting by arrangement. The Santa Catalina neighbourhood in Palma has become the city's most concentrated restaurant district;
  • Beach clubs and day trips. The east coast coves - Cala Llombards, Cala Mondrago, Cala Santanyi - are the island's finest beaches, accessible in approximately 60 to 75 minutes from Palma by car. For a day at the finest beach clubs, Es Trenc on the south coast (30 minutes) is the most popular with the private jet clientele.

Key seasonal events in Mallorca

  • Palma International Boat Show (April). One of the most important superyacht shows in the Mediterranean, held at the Moll Vell marina in Palma. Generates significant private aviation traffic as yacht owners and buyers fly in from across Europe and the Middle East;
  • Copa del Rey Regatta (August). Spain's premier sailing regatta, held in the Bay of Palma from the Real Club Nautico. One of the most socially important events in the Balearic sailing calendar;
  • Palma Fashion Week (February). A growing fashion event that generates early-season private aviation demand from Madrid and Barcelona;
  • Summer season peak (July - August). The busiest period for private aviation at PMI. Aircraft availability tightens considerably - we recommend booking 6 to 8 weeks ahead for July and August travel;
  • Cycling season (February - May). The Tramuntana's road cycling season peaks in spring. Professional teams and serious amateur cyclists from across Northern Europe generate consistent private aviation demand from UK and German airports during this window.
