Hire a Private Jet to Berlin, Germany

Berlin is the capital of Germany and one of the most culturally significant and rapidly evolving cities in Europe - a destination that draws private aviation clients for an unusually wide range of purposes: government and diplomatic meetings, technology and startup investment, creative industries and fashion, the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), the IFA consumer electronics fair, the annual Berlin Marathon, an extraordinary concentration of contemporary art galleries and auction houses, and a nightlife and cultural scene that has made the city a reference point for architecture, music and gastronomy across Europe. Private jet charter flights to Berlin from the UK arrive at Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER / EDDB), the city's new main airport opened in 2020 after years of delay, located 18 km south-east of the city centre in the Schonefeld district. The London to Berlin sector is 519 nautical miles, approximately 1 hour 35 minutes - a route short enough for every jet category from light jets to business liners to operate non-stop from UK airports.

private jet charter Berlin Germany

Berlin Brandenburg Airport Willy Brandt (BER / EDDB) is the single commercial airport serving Berlin following the closure of Tegel Airport in 2020. The airport has two runways and handles both commercial and private aviation traffic. Private jets use the dedicated general aviation terminal on the southern side of the airport, with VIP lounge facilities and ramp access. Journey time to Berlin city centre (Mitte, Potsdamer Platz, the Brandenburg Gate area) is approximately 30 to 40 minutes by chauffeured car via the A113 motorway, or 30 minutes by the Airport Express (FEX) rail service to Berlin Hauptbahnhof. A second private aviation option is Berlin Tegel - now closed to commercial traffic but with its business aviation terminal (Tegel Business Aviation) remaining available for private jets, located 8 km north-west of the city centre and offering a significantly shorter transfer time for clients staying in western or central Berlin.

Key Information:

  • Typical flight time from London to Berlin: approximately 1 hour 35 minutes;
  • Private jet charter prices: from 5,200 EUR;
  • Primary airport: Berlin Brandenburg (BER / EDDB), 18 km south-east of city centre;
  • Alternative airport: Berlin Tegel business aviation terminal (TXL / EDDT), 8 km north-west - shorter transfer to central and western Berlin;
  • Hamburg: 148 nm north-west - approximately 39 minutes by jet;
  • Frankfurt: 233 nm south-west - approximately 51 minutes by jet;
  • Munich: 250 nm south - approximately 53 minutes by jet;
  • Warsaw: 274 nm east - approximately 56 minutes by jet;
  • Most popular aircraft: Phenom 300, Citation XLS+, Challenger 300;
  • Peak demand: Berlinale (February), IFA (September), Berlin Art Week (September), Christmas markets (December), Berlin Marathon (September).

Berlin draws private aviation clients across three main categories. Corporate and government travel is substantial: Berlin is the seat of the German federal government and the Bundestag, making it a primary destination for diplomatic delegations, lobbying visits and government relations work. The German startup and technology ecosystem - centred around the district of Mitte and the area around Checkpoint Charlie - has made Berlin the most important venture capital and technology hub in Germany, generating significant corporate private aviation from London, Amsterdam and other European financial centres. Cultural and leisure travel is Berlin's other major draw: the Berlinale international film festival in February, Berlin Art Week and the simultaneous art fairs (Positions, abc, Preview Berlin) in September, the Berlin Marathon in late September, and the city's extraordinary museum landscape - the Museumsinsel (Museum Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the Hamburger Bahnhof for contemporary art, the Topography of Terror, the Jewish Museum and the extraordinary range of private galleries in Mitte, Charlottenburg and Kreuzberg.

Private jet charter prices to Berlin from London start from approximately 5,200 EUR on a Phenom 300 or Citation XLS+ for the 519 nautical mile sector. The final cost depends on aircraft type, departure airport and passenger numbers.

Hire a Private Jet to Berlin

Berlin is a year-round private aviation destination with no single event creating the extreme demand peaks seen at Munich during Oktoberfest. The most constrained periods are Berlinale (February) for leisure and film industry clients, IFA and Berlin Art Week (both September) for corporate and creative clients, and the pre-Christmas period in December. For most of the year, Berlin offers excellent aircraft availability and competitive pricing compared to other major European capitals on the same sector distance from the UK.

Prices for the private jet flights to Berlin

The London to Berlin sector of 519 nautical miles is virtually identical in distance to London to Munich, making Berlin one of the most competitively priced major European capital destinations by private jet from the UK. Every aircraft category from turboprops and very light jets to large cabin jets is a practical option on this sector, giving clients a wider range of price points than on longer Mediterranean routes.

Unlike Munich or Monaco, Berlin does not have a single dominant event that creates extreme pricing pressure across the whole market. Berlinale in February and IFA in September push corporate demand noticeably, and Berlin Art Week in September coincides with IFA to create a combined demand spike in the third week of September. The Berlin Marathon - held on the last Sunday of September and one of the six World Marathon Majors - draws a significant number of private aviation clients who want to fly in the day before and return the same day or the morning after. Outside these periods, Berlin pricing is consistently competitive.

Berlin is also a natural hub for multi-city German itineraries. Hamburg is 148 nm north-west (approximately 39 minutes by jet), Frankfurt 233 nm south-west (51 minutes) and Munich 250 nm south (53 minutes). Clients doing a Berlin-Hamburg-Frankfurt German business circuit in a single day arrange this routinely by private jet.

Below are the approximate prices for the flights performed this year. TOP 7 options:

  1. from London to Berlin, 7 passengers, by Citation XLS+ - 5,200 EUR;
  2. from London to Berlin, 9 passengers, by Challenger 300 - 8,800 EUR;

Berlin - destination overview

Berlin occupies a unique position among European capitals. No other city of comparable size carries such a concentrated weight of 20th-century history - the division of Europe, the Cold War, the fall of the Wall - alongside such a visible commitment to reimagining itself for the 21st century. The city's trajectory since reunification in 1990 has been one of the most dramatic urban transformations in modern European history: from a divided, subsidised city of limited economic relevance to one of the continent's most dynamic creative, technological and cultural capitals in the space of three decades.

The physical traces of Berlin's divided past are everywhere and nowhere simultaneously. The Berlin Wall itself was almost entirely demolished in the months after November 1989, but its course is marked through the city by a double row of cobblestones in the pavement - you can trace it on foot from the Brandenburg Gate east through Mitte, past the East Side Gallery (the longest surviving section of the Wall, now an open-air gallery of murals), to Checkpoint Charlie and the extraordinary Topography of Terror documentation centre built on the former site of the Gestapo and SS headquarters. The Jewish Museum, designed by Daniel Libeskind and opened in 2001, remains one of the most powerful architectural statements in the world. The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, a field of 2,711 concrete stelae designed by Peter Eisenman in the heart of the government quarter near the Reichstag, has become one of the most visited sites in the city.

private jet taxiing Berlin Airport

Berlin's contemporary identity is equally strong. The city's creative and nightlife scene - centred around the clubs of Friedrichshain and the gallery districts of Mitte, Prenzlauer Berg and Kreuzberg - has been internationally influential for more than twenty years. The startup and technology ecosystem, supported by a concentration of venture capital funds and accelerators, has made Berlin the primary location of choice for European technology founders. The food scene has developed dramatically: the city now has multiple Michelin-starred restaurants, a sophisticated natural wine and craft beer culture, and a street food and market scene that reflects its extraordinary multicultural character.

Where to stay in Berlin

Berlin's hotel scene is unusually diverse, reflecting the city's range of districts and clientele:

  • Hotel Adlon Kempinski - Berlin's most celebrated grand hotel, positioned at the Brandenburg Gate on Pariser Platz. The original Adlon was destroyed in 1945; the current building, opened in 1997, has re-established itself as the city's prestige address for heads of state, major corporate delegations and international visitors. Approximately 35 minutes from Berlin Brandenburg Airport, or 20 minutes from Berlin Tegel Business Aviation.
  • Regent Berlin - a refined luxury property on Gendarmenmarkt, the most beautiful square in Berlin, with a classical European hotel sensibility that contrasts with the city's more design-led offerings. Approximately 35 minutes from BER.
  • Soho House Berlin - the members' club property in a former department store in Mitte-Prenzlauer Berg, a hub for the creative and media industries during Berlinale and Berlin Art Week. Approximately 40 minutes from BER, 25 minutes from TXL.
  • Das Stue - a design hotel in a 1930s former Danish embassy building adjacent to the Tiergarten and the zoo, with an exceptional spa and restaurant. Approximately 35 minutes from BER, 15 minutes from TXL.
  • Hotel de Rome - a Rocco Forte property in a converted 19th-century bank on Bebelplatz in the historic Unter den Linden district, with a rooftop terrace overlooking the Opera House. Approximately 35 minutes from BER, 20 minutes from TXL.

Note that for clients using Berlin Tegel Business Aviation terminal, all central and western Berlin hotels are typically 15 to 25 minutes by chauffeured car - a meaningful advantage over the 35 to 45 minute transfer from Berlin Brandenburg Airport. We advise on airport and hotel combinations for each booking.
