Private jet charter in Dresden
Dresden sits less than two hours from London by light jet, and the airport that takes you there is a small, quiet field with a runway long enough for almost anything we send. Private Jets UK builds the charter around the reason for the trip: a ball at the Semperoper, a visit to a chip plant, a weekend in the Christmas market. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. One fact shapes the booking more than any price table. Dresden is a modest airport with a 2,850 m runway, a general aviation lounge on the arrivals level and a published rule that stops commercial and on-demand flights between 23:30 and 05:30, so the real decisions are the date, the departure time and whether the meeting is on the Elbe, in Leipzig or across the border in Prague.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Dresden depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Dresden?
An hour and three quarters from Biggin Hill in a light jet, a little over two hours from Glasgow, and one hour of clock difference to remember on arrival, because Germany keeps Central European time. At 535 to 735 nautical miles this is a short-haul sector in the plain sense. A light jet is comfortable, a midsize cabin is a matter of luggage and not of range, and nothing here calls for a heavy aircraft. The table gives the sector from each British field we use.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall
Leave a London airfield at seven in the morning and you are on the ground in Dresden a little before ten local time. The airport lies in the Klotzsche district, about 9 km north of the city centre, and the road journey into town is given as roughly 20 minutes. A client who left a London office at half past six can therefore be standing in the Altmarkt before lunch. Add the drive to the British airfield and the quick processing at both ends and the whole trip from central London to central Dresden comes to roughly four hours.
Light jet or midsize: the question that actually comes up on this route
– Up to about four people with ordinary bags, a light jet is the right answer. The business traffic that already uses Dresden often includes Pilatus PC-12s, Citation Mustangs and Phenom 300s, so none of these types is a stranger to the apron, and the saving over a midsize cabin pays for the hotel;
– Past that, or with ball gowns and dinner jackets, equipment cases for a plant visit or a dog, we quote a midsize jet alongside it so you see both figures. Formal clothes take up more hold than people expect, and the hold decides;
– Heavy aircraft only make sense when the party is large, when the same jet stays with you across several European stops, or when Dresden is the first leg of something much longer.

Prices for the private jet flights to Dresden
Typical trips from Britain, cheapest first, all of them into the general aviation facilities at Dresden Airport. The ball season in February, the Advent weekends and the June chip-industry days sit above these figures, and the calendar block further down explains when.

Private jet flights from Dresden
Dresden is a good place to start a loop through Saxony, Bohemia and Berlin. Leipzig, Prague and Karlovy Vary are so close that the aircraft has barely levelled off before it descends, and below a certain length every aircraft has a minimum charge, which is why Leipzig, Prague and Karlovy Vary cost the same in the same cabin. Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna and Zurich sit within a light-jet hour or a little more. Typical one-way prices:

Saxony and Bohemia from the air: when a flight beats the road
Leipzig is about 62 nautical miles from Dresden and Prague about 67. By road Leipzig is a drive of roughly an hour and ten minutes, and Prague, some 146 km away, takes around an hour and a half, so a turboprop saves little time and costs more than a car. It earns its place when the aircraft is already waiting for you, when the party is too large for two cars, or when the plane carries on afterwards to Berlin or Frankfurt. Karlovy Vary, the Czech spa town, is a similar distance away across the Ore Mountains but has a short runway of 2,150 m and daytime hours, so it suits a morning departure and a spa afternoon and not a late return.
Before you accept an onward quote
– Which airport, and who handles it. A quote for Prague, Leipzig or Karlovy Vary that does not name the terminal or the handler is a quote that will change. We ask the operator and put the answer in writing;
– Whether the itinerary is one booking. Dresden to Prague to Berlin over three days costs noticeably less arranged as a single trip, because the aircraft and crew stay with you instead of repositioning to Dresden between each stop;
– Whether you need the aircraft at all. For Leipzig and Prague we will say plainly when a car or the train is the better answer, and quote the flight only if the connection justifies it.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Dresden:
Light jets, and where most bookings land
At about 1 hour 45 minutes this is still the sensible class for four or five people with ordinary luggage. Nothing here lacks the range for Dresden, so the money goes on the hour and not on capability you will not use.
Midsize, for evening dress and equipment cases
A ball weekend, a week of formal clothes and the cases that travel with an engineering team are what push a party past the light-jet hold.
Super-midsize and large
For a board travelling as one party, for a team that needs to work in the air, and for trips that carry on from Dresden to the Gulf or beyond rather than turning round.
Turboprops
The right aircraft for the short legs to Leipzig, Prague and Karlovy Vary, which are about half an hour in the air, and a type that appears often among the business traffic of this airport.
Helicopters
Not for the flight from Britain but for the last stretch: the Elbe valley, a castle lawn or a plant site with no runway. In Germany a landing away from an aerodrome needs permission, so the site is agreed before the quote.

This is a small part of what is available. Dresden sits at the edge of the German fleet and close to the Czech one, so for a booking that is not in the middle of ball season or Advent there is usually an aircraft already within an hour of the airport, in Prague, Leipzig or Berlin, and that is often where the better price comes from.

Business aviation airports in Dresden
One airport does nearly all of the work. The others matter for specific reasons, and it helps to know them before a quote arrives with one of them in it.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Dresden DRS / EDDC |
The answer for any trip whose business is in the Saxon capital. It lies in the Klotzsche district about 9 km north of the centre, with a single concrete runway 04/22 of 2,850 m at 230 m elevation and a helipad. Business flights use a general aviation lounge for up to 20 people on the arrivals level, and PortGround is listed for ramp handling. Jet A-1 is supplied by truck |
| Leipzig/Halle LEJ / EDDP |
The larger airport of the region, with two parallel runways of 3,600 m, and the fallback when the Dresden apron is full or the aircraft is heavy. It is a freight hub, so the night apron belongs to cargo, and passenger flights there are also restricted between 23:30 and 05:30. By road it is roughly an hour and a quarter from Dresden |
| Prague PRG / LKPR |
Two runways of 3,715 m and 3,250 m, business aviation handled in its own terminal area, and handlers such as ABS Jets, Bell Textron Prague and Time Air listed on the field. Slot coordinated. The choice when the day starts or ends in Bohemia: about 146 km from Dresden by road and around an hour and a half |
| Karlovy Vary KLV / LKKV |
A small Czech airport with a 2,150 m runway, built for the spa trade and open in daylight, from 06:00 to 17:00 UTC in summer and 07:00 to 15:00 in winter. Customs follow the airfield's own hours. Useful when the Bohemian spa towns are the destination and Dresden is the stop before them |
| Berlin Brandenburg BER / EDDB |
The capital's single civil airport, about 140 km north of Dresden as the crow flies, with a general aviation terminal on the south side and slot coordination through the working week. It is not a substitute for Dresden, but it suits a trip that continues to Berlin afterwards, and we price the two airports as separate legs against a car transfer |
Four points settle most Dresden arrivals:
Terminal and handler
Business flights at Dresden have their own arrangement: a lounge for up to 20 people on the arrivals level, with Wi-Fi, television, drinks and snacks, charged under the airport's tariff. PortGround is listed for ramp handling. The listings differ in age and detail, so we ask the operator which company it prefers and confirm handler, fuel and parking in writing before the quote.
Hours, night rule and slots
The city of Dresden publishes the night rule: scheduled and on-demand commercial flights may take off and land from 05:30 to 23:30 local time, with early landings from 05:00 and delayed flights allowed until midnight. Broker listings give other opening hours and describe the field as slot facilitated, so we confirm both in writing and keep the approval with the quote.
Border and passport
Germany is in Schengen and Britain is not, so you clear the border at the airport on arrival. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport issued less than ten years before arrival and valid for at least three months after departure. On a first entry you may be asked to register a photograph and fingerprints.
Car and event days
Give us the terminal as well as the flight, because a driver told only Dresden Airport may wait in the wrong place. On ball night and on Advent Saturdays ask us to time the car around the traffic into the old town, and ask your host whether protocol cars already cover the airport run.

Border, passport, landing permit and the return leg
The simplest rule: land where the meeting is. Customs and immigration at Dresden are listed during the airport's operating hours, so the arrival formalities take place at the terminal, and the road to Leipzig or Meissen afterwards is inside the Schengen area with no further border control. Because a British operator is outside the EU, a commercial charter into Germany normally needs a landing permit for each stop, and the usual lead time quoted for it is five working days, or three if the documents are complete. We apply for it as part of the quote. Coming home, the General Aviation Report for the return leg has to reach the UK authorities no earlier than 48 hours and no later than 2 hours before departure, and a private flight that lands first at a non-regulated aerodrome risks a fine of £2,500. Most visitors who are neither British nor Irish also need an electronic travel authorisation or a visa to enter the UK. Your handler and our desk deal with the paperwork, but it helps to know which date it is waiting on.

From the apron to the Altmarkt
Dresden is a city you reach in twenty minutes from the airport and then walk. The Frauenkirche, the Zwinger and the Semperoper all stand in the old town on the Elbe, and the distances that matter run outward, to Meissen, to the castle at Moritzburg and to Saxon Switzerland.
about 9 km, with an S-Bahn station beneath the terminal for those who prefer the trainabout 20 minutes
about 25 km north-west along the Elbe; the S-Bahn runs about every 30 minutesabout 28 minutes
the baroque palace on its island, north-west of the cityabout 13 km
the rock terrace of Saxon Switzerland, about 40 km south-eastabout 45 to 50 minutes
the other big Saxon city, and the route to the second airportabout 1 hour 10 minutes
about 146 km by road, or a direct train of around two hoursabout 1 hour 30 minutes
Flying to Dresden with a dog or a cat
Germany asks for more paperwork than the flight takes, and the flight is short enough that most animals sleep through it. With the operator's agreement the animal sits beside you in the cabin and no hold is involved. What matters is the dating of the health certificate, which is valid for entry into the EU for only ten days from the day it is issued.

What Germany and the UK ask for:
- A microchip, fitted before or at the same time as the rabies vaccination, never after it;
- A rabies vaccination given when the animal was at least 12 weeks old, with 21 full days passed before travel;
- An animal health certificate from your vet, issued for each trip and valid for ten days for entry into the EU and, for the return to Great Britain, as stated on the certificate;
- Entry through a travellers' point of entry, where the documents are checked, which our handler arranges at the terminal;
- No more than five animals per traveller;
- For dogs, a tapeworm treatment from a vet no less than 24 hours and no more than five days before arrival back in Britain. Cats are exempt.
What catches owners out on the Dresden run
– Germany is not on the list of countries that ask for a tapeworm treatment on the way in, so the vet visit that matters is the one before the flight home. Find a Dresden vet near your hotel on the first day and put the time on the certificate, because the window is narrow and a weekend appointment can be hard to find;
– A pet passport issued in England, Scotland or Wales cannot be used to enter the EU. The certificate has to be a fresh one for each trip, so a dog that stays on for a longer Saxon and Bohemian tour needs its dates checked against the whole route;
– If the dog is going on from Dresden to Prague or Berlin by road, say so before the quote. The certificate dating and the point of entry are worked out for the whole route and not for the first landing alone. For the paperwork on the animal itself, we confirm the entry point and the documents in writing before the flight.
Requirements for ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide, and our managers confirm the position in writing for your dates before a booking is taken.
The Dresden calendar: a ball, a festival and the Striezelmarkt
Dresden has a calendar with four fixed points. A ball in the winter, a music festival in early summer, open-air concerts and cinema on the riverbank through the summer, and a Christmas market first mentioned in 1434. Between those peaks the chip plants and research institutes keep a steady flow of business traffic. Knowing which week you want matters more than choosing an aircraft.
Why a ball night costs more, and why you cannot fly home from it
The ball ends after midnight, and the published night rule stops commercial and on-demand flights at 23:30, with a tolerance until midnight for delays. So a same-night return is not a realistic plan: the sensible plans are a morning departure on the day after, or a stay of two nights. What also gets tight is hotels, cars and the handful of light and midsize aircraft within reach of the airport, all in the same week. A booking made a fortnight before the ball or the first Advent weekend can still be done, but it pays more and may mean an aircraft positioned from Prague, Leipzig or Berlin. The same booking made five or six weeks earlier is simpler and cheaper. Outside those weeks Dresden is one of the easier German cities to fly into, and a charter can usually be arranged in a day or two.
Ways to bring the Dresden price down
- Move the dates a few days where you can. The weeks after the ball and the first weeks of January are calm, and so are the weeks between the music festival and the summer holidays;
- Ask where the aircraft is based. A jet already in Prague, Leipzig or Berlin takes less positioning than one from Britain, and on a sector of this length positioning is a meaningful share of the bill;
- Take the light jet unless the luggage says otherwise. Four people and four bags do not need a midsize, and the money saved buys the car and the hotel.
Types of flights
Dresden produces a different mix from the Italian or French destinations we cover, because it is a semiconductor city, a baroque city and a gateway to Bohemia at once, with a quiet airport that sees steady business traffic.
- Semiconductor and engineering delegations, tied to the plants, the research institutes and the June industry days, where the visit is fixed and the arrival formalities are the main concern;
- Culture weekends built around the Semperoper, the Music Festival and the ball;
- Advent breaks of two or three nights, often combined with Prague;
- Short river and castle stays, with Meissen, Moritzburg and Saxon Switzerland as the day trips;
- Day trips from London, which at about an hour and three quarters each way are a comfortable working day;
- Onward legs to Prague, Leipzig and Berlin, often as part of a longer Central European itinerary.
The day trip is worth a closer look. A same-day return means the aircraft and crew wait for you rather than going home, and that waiting is paid for, but it still comes out cheaper than two separate one-way charters. Leaving at seven and flying back after an early evening dinner gives you a working day in Dresden and your own bed that night, and the night rule is no obstacle if the wheels are up well before 23:30. On this route we quote it both ways so the difference is visible.
Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. On the Dresden route they come from the pattern of events, and it helps to know what produces them.
Where Dresden empty legs come from
– Event weekends. Aircraft come in for the ball, a concert on the Elbe or an Advent weekend and go back to their bases on the Sunday or Monday, and that evening leg is the one most often offered;
– Industry days. When delegations arrive on charters for the semiconductor meetings, the aircraft often leave empty a day or two later, producing outbound legs in the days after;
– Corridor traffic. Prague, Berlin and Frankfurt are busy business airports, and an aircraft that has dropped a party in Dresden sometimes returns home empty the same day.
Because the Dresden corridor is thinner than the busiest London routes, a client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. What you give up is the usual: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Dresden match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
In Dresden a helicopter is a tool for the edges of a trip. The old town is compact and the airport is only about 9 km away, so the places where rotary flight changes the day are the river towns, the castles and the sandstone country to the south-east.
about 9 km, against about 20 minutes by road, so only worth it for a pad at the destinationabout 5 minutes
about 25 km along the Elbe, a useful link when the porcelain manufactory shares an afternoon with a dinner in the cityabout 10 minutes
the castle and its lake, about 13 km away, for a group with a private eventabout 6 minutes
about 40 km south-east, against more than 45 minutes by roadabout 15 minutes
the Frauenkirche, the Zwinger, the Semperoper and the Elbe bends, with Meissen or the Bastei as an extensionabout 30 minutes
Before you plan around a helicopter
– A helicopter in Germany cannot land wherever it likes. Take-offs and landings away from an approved aerodrome need the permission of the aviation authority of the state concerned, so a hotel lawn, a castle forecourt or a private estate needs its status confirmed before we quote, not after;
– Saxon Switzerland is a national park, and the Bastei lies in its core zone, where strict conservation rules apply. We treat any landing or low flight there as something to be cleared with the authorities, and we say so before the quote;
– Weather and daylight set the schedule. Low cloud or fog in the Elbe valley can stop a helicopter on a day when the jet lands without trouble, so a transfer needs a road alternative planned into the same day.
The machines on this ground are the Airbus H125 for short hops, the wider H130 for scenic and estate transfers, the H135 and the Bell 429 where a twin is wanted, and the H155 for larger parties. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable.

Dresden charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
DAY TRIP · OUT AND BACK
A plant visit in the morning and home for dinner
Biggin Hill - Dresden and return, Citation CJ3+, about 1 h 45 min each way · 4 pax
Wheels up at seven, on the ground in Dresden shortly before ten local time, at the plant gate by eleven and back at Biggin Hill in time for a late dinner. The aircraft and crew waited at the airport rather than going home, which is a real line in the quote and still comes in below two separate one-way charters. It is a long day and it works.
BALL WEEKEND · THE EVENING RULE
Three couples, formal dress and a Sunday-morning departure
London City - Dresden, Citation XLS+, about 1 h 45 min · 6 pax
The ball ends after midnight, so there was never any question of flying home that night. The party arrived on the Friday afternoon, the gowns and dinner jackets went in the hold, and the return left on Sunday after breakfast, comfortably inside the daytime window. The aircraft stayed with them.
RIVERBANK CONCERT · A SUMMER EVENING
Four friends, one concert on the Elbe and a night in the city
Farnborough - Dresden, Phenom 300E, about 1 h 45 min · 4 pax
They booked the hotel first and the aircraft second, which worked because it was a weekday concert. The car met them at the aircraft door, the concert was a short walk from the old town, and the return left late the next morning so that nobody had to think about the night rule.
ADVENT WEEKEND · TWO CITIES
Six people, the Christmas market on Saturday and Prague on Sunday
London Luton - Dresden, Citation XLS+, about 1 h 45 min · 6 pax
They flew into Dresden, spent a night at the market and went on to Prague by car, leaving from Prague on the Monday. We quoted the open-jaw routing against a return to Dresden and the one-way into Prague won on time. Both airports had to be confirmed with the handler, and the quote showed each leg on its own line.
ELBE AND BASTEI · THREE DAYS
A couple, a dog and a helicopter for one afternoon
Manchester - Dresden, Citation Latitude, about 1 h 55 min · 2 pax + dog
The health certificate had to be dated inside ten days of arrival, and a vet visit in Dresden fell between 24 and 120 hours before the flight home. The helicopter was agreed with the landing site named in advance, since the Bastei itself is in the national park core zone. Everything was settled in one exchange of messages rather than three.
EMPTY LEG · A DAY OF YOUR CHOICE
A jet already going your way
Dresden - London Luton, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 1 h 40 min · 3 pax
The aircraft had brought a party in for a weekend event and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for an afternoon departure to the London fields.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Dresden
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Dresden?
About 1 hour 45 minutes from Biggin Hill or London City in a light jet, and around 1 hour 40 minutes from Luton or 1 hour 45 minutes from Farnborough in a Phenom, covering roughly 535 to 568 nautical miles. From Birmingham, Manchester or Bristol allow about 1 hour 50 minutes to 2 hours, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow around 2 hours to 2 hours 5 minutes. Dresden is one hour ahead of Britain, so a seven o'clock departure lands shortly before ten local time.
2How much does a private jet to Dresden cost?
From about £7,950 one way on a light jet from either London City or Biggin Hill, and £8,200 from Luton. A midsize cabin runs £10,700 to £11,450 from the south and Midlands, and from Scotland allow £15,250 to £15,850. The ball in February, the Advent weekends and the June industry days price above these figures.
3Which airport should a private jet use for Dresden?
Dresden Airport (DRS / EDDC) for almost every trip. It lies about 9 km north of the city centre, has a 2,850 m runway and a general aviation lounge on the arrivals level, and is roughly 20 minutes from the old town by road. Leipzig/Halle is the larger fallback about an hour and a quarter away by road, and Prague is the choice when the day starts or ends in Bohemia.
4Can a private jet land at Dresden at night?
The city of Dresden publishes the rule: scheduled and on-demand commercial flights may take off and land from 05:30 to 23:30 local time, with early landings from 05:00 and delayed flights allowed until midnight. Broker listings give other hours, so we confirm how the rule applies to your flight in writing. After a late evening such as the Semper Opera Ball, plan a morning departure.
5Does a British private jet need a landing permit for Germany?
A commercial charter by an operator from outside the EU normally needs a landing permit for each stop in Germany, and the usual lead time quoted is five working days, or three if the documents are complete. We apply for it as part of the quote. Passengers also need a passport issued less than ten years before arrival and valid for three months after departure, with no visa for up to 90 days in any 180.
6Can I take my dog to Dresden on a private jet?
Yes. The dog can travel in the cabin with you, and Germany asks for a microchip, a rabies vaccination at least 21 days old and an animal health certificate issued within ten days of arrival. For the return to Britain a dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before landing. Cats are exempt from the treatment.
