Private jet charter in Klaipeda
A jet that leaves a London airfield at eight in the morning can be on the Lithuanian coast by about twenty past twelve local time, though not at Klaipeda itself: the port city has only a small airfield with a 500 m runway for light aircraft, and the runway that takes business jets and clears customs is at Palanga, roughly 30 km to the north. From London City the sector is 822 nautical miles, about 2 hours 20 minutes in a light jet, and Lithuania runs two hours ahead of Britain. Private Jets UK arranges the whole chain, from the aircraft to the car waiting beside the stairs. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Klaipeda is an Old Town on a river, an ice-free port and the doorway to the Curonian Spit, so the choices that matter are the cabin size, the weekend you pick and the handler who meets you at Palanga.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Klaipeda depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from London City, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard, landing at Palanga. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Klaipeda?
Allow a little over two hours from the London fields, then move your watch two hours forward, because Lithuania keeps Eastern European time and changes its clocks on the same dates as Britain. The sectors in the table run from 804 to 942 nautical miles to Palanga, the airport that serves Klaipeda, and a light jet can fly every one of them without a stop. Parties of five or more usually step up to a midsize cabin, and the table shows the sector from each British field we use.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall
Leave a London airfield at eight and you land at Palanga at about twenty past twelve local time. The airport lies about 30 km from Klaipeda on the A13 highway, so allow a drive of half an hour or a little more before you reach the Old Town, and you can be at a table by the river for a late lunch. Put the drive to the British airfield and the processing at both ends on top and a journey from central London to central Klaipeda comes to five hours or a little more. A scheduled journey ties you to airline timetables and, through Vilnius or Kaunas, to a road trip of about 300 km or 200 km.
Light jet or midsize on a sector of two hours and twenty minutes
– Three or four people with cabin bags fit a light jet on this sector, and the saving is real: a Citation CJ3+ from London City is quoted from £11,300 against £14,000 for an XLS+ on the same route. We still price a midsize cabin alongside it, because the sector is long for a light cabin and the return is westbound;
– Past four people, or with a week of luggage for the Spit, golf bags or a dog, the midsize jet stops being an upgrade and becomes the sensible quote. The general aviation stands listed at Palanga are for wingspans up to 18 m, which suits the light jets and the smaller midsize types;
– A super-midsize or large jet is for a delegation, for a group joining a yacht or a ship, or for a trip that continues from the coast to Scandinavia or the Gulf. Most of those aircraft have a longer wingspan than the listed stands allow, so the handler confirms where the aircraft will be parked before we quote it.

Private jet flights from Klaipeda
A flight out of Klaipeda leaves from Palanga, and the map from there is Baltic and short. Riga, Kaunas and Vilnius are an hour or less by turboprop, Tallinn is little more, and Stockholm, Copenhagen and Helsinki lie across the sea within about 300 nautical miles. Typical one-way prices:

The short hops: when a turboprop beats the road
Kaunas is 123 nautical miles from Palanga and a Pilatus PC-12 covers the sector in about 50 minutes, while the road from Klaipeda to Kaunas runs to about 200 km and to Vilnius about 300 km, by published figures. That is the case for flying the last stretch: a morning of meetings in the capital and an afternoon on the coast become one day with an aircraft that waits, instead of a day lost in a car. Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia are all inside Schengen, as are Sweden, Denmark and Finland, so there is no passport control on any of these hops.
Before you accept an onward quote
– Check the airport named at the far end. Stockholm and Helsinki each have more than one airport used by business aircraft, and a quote that gives only the city name will be revised once the real field is chosen;
– Check whether the legs are one booking. A coast stay with a day in Vilnius and a night in Riga costs less as a single trip, because the aircraft and crew stay with you instead of returning to base between stops.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Klaipeda:
Light jets, for a short and light party
Two hours and twenty minutes is a long stretch in a light cabin, so these suit three or four people with modest bags. Their size also fits the stands that Palanga lists for general aviation, and range is no issue, so the money goes on the hour and not on capability you will not use.
Midsize, for the team and the week on the Spit
A team with a laptop each, or a family with a week of luggage for the dunes, is what usually moves a booking out of the light-jet class and into a cabin where the party can stand up. The smaller types in this class fit the listed stands, and the handler clears the larger ones.
Super-midsize and large
For a delegation travelling as one party, for guests joining a yacht or a ship, and for trips that carry on from the coast to Scandinavia or the Gulf rather than turning round. Where the aircraft is parked is settled with the handler first.
Turboprops
The right aircraft for the hops inside the Baltics: Riga is about 45 minutes in the air and Kaunas about 50 minutes, and on distances like these a turboprop saves a lot against a jet.
Helicopters
Not for the flight from Britain but for the last stretch: the dunes of the Spit and Nida, a lagoon-side estate with a lawn, or a view of the Old Town and the port from above. Where a helicopter may land is agreed before the quote.

This is a small part of what is available. A jet that is already in Riga, Kaunas, Tallinn or Copenhagen is closer to Palanga than one flown out from Britain, and that is frequently where the better price comes from.

Business aviation airports for Klaipeda
One airport does the work, and it is not in Klaipeda. The others on this list matter as a back-up, because a quote names them, or because the airfield that carries the city name is easy to mistake for a jet runway.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Palanga PLQ / EYPA |
The gateway for Klaipeda and the whole Lithuanian coast, about 30 km north of the port along the A13 highway. It has a single asphalt runway, 01/19, of 2,280 by 45 metres, with an ILS approach to runway 19 (Category I) and a satellite-guided approach to runway 01. The official aeronautical information lists customs and immigration, fuelling, handling and de-icing as available round the clock, with Jet A1 and hangar space for light visiting aircraft up to 5,700 kg. The airport also has a separate terminal built for flights to and from non-Schengen countries. Non-scheduled and general aviation arrivals need prior permission |
| Kaunas KUN / EYKA |
The second Lithuanian gateway, about 200 km from Klaipeda by published figures, with a runway of 3,250 m. It earns a place on this list in two cases: the trip includes Kaunas, or the aircraft cannot use Palanga on the day. Kaunas is on the official list of airports where pets may enter Lithuania, so a diversion with a dog does not break the pet rules |
| Vilnius VNO / EYVI |
The capital, about 300 km from Klaipeda. It has a VIP terminal and customs and immigration listed round the clock, and it is the right landing point when the trip starts with government or business meetings in the capital and ends on the coast. From there Palanga is about an hour by turboprop |
| Klaipeda Airfield EYKL |
Despite the name, this is a small privately run airfield about 7 km east of the centre. Its asphalt runway is 500 by 21 metres, the listing allows aircraft up to 5,700 kg, flights are VFR in daylight only, and the fuel listed is AVGAS. Customs and immigration are listed only on prior request. It is not a jet airport, so any quote that names Klaipeda as the landing field should be queried |
| Nida EYNI |
A small airfield on the Curonian Spit with an asphalt runway of 790 by 30 metres, listed for daylight VFR flights, aircraft up to 5,700 kg and operating hours on prior request, with no customs or immigration. It is a question for a light turboprop on a hop inside Schengen, never the first landing from Britain |
Four points settle most Klaipeda arrivals:
Choose the handler and the stand
The official aeronautical information names UAB Ground Handling Agency as the ground handler and asks that handling be coordinated before the prior permission request is filed. Charter brokers also list FCG OPS Palanga Handling and Clearway for flight support and VIP passenger services. General aviation parking is listed on stands 9 to 15 for aircraft up to 18 m wingspan, so we confirm the handler and the stand in writing before you pay.
Hours, permission and birds
Customs, immigration, fuelling, handling and de-icing are all listed as available round the clock. Permission is the real gate: it is strictly applied to non-scheduled and general aviation arrivals, with a request at least 24 hours before landing when handling is pre-arranged. The aeronautical information states no curfew and mentions no slot system, and it warns of seasonal bird activity in the migration and feeding periods.
Border and passport
Lithuania is in Schengen and Britain is not, so you pass passport control and customs on arrival at Palanga, and the handler confirms which door a private arrival uses. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport issued less than ten years before arrival and valid for at least three months beyond the day you leave. The Entry/Exit System takes a photograph and fingerprints from short-stay visitors, so allow a few extra minutes on a first visit.
Weather, wind and the ferry
The coast is milder than the capital, with a January average of about -1 degree Celsius and a July average of about 18, but wind is what to plan for. In strong wind or snow the pedestrian Old Ferry to Smiltyne may not run and the New Ferry terminal is the fallback, so for a timed transfer to the Spit we plan the road and the crossing together. Give the car company the handler as well as the flight, because a driver told only the airport may wait at the wrong door.

Border, passport and the way home
Because Lithuania is inside Schengen, the first landing is where the formalities happen. Land at Palanga and the passport check is done there; from that point a drive to Klaipeda, a hop to Kaunas or Riga and the ferry to the Curonian Spit are all free of border control. The way home runs the other way. Britain treats the aircraft as arriving from abroad, so a General Aviation Report is filed not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departure, and passengers pass the border at the British airfield. Visitors who need no visa for Britain still need an Electronic Travel Authorisation unless they are British or Irish citizens. We file the paperwork; you bring passports that are in date.

From the apron to the Old Town
Klaipeda is a long, thin city that follows the Curonian Lagoon and the Baltic Sea, and the Dane river cuts through it. The Old Town stands on the left bank, a grid of narrow streets rebuilt after a great fire in the 19th century, which makes it younger than the old quarters of Vilnius and Kaunas. Its main square is Theatre Square, with the theatre from the middle of that century and a small statue of Anne of Tharau, and on the far bank the old castle moat now holds yachts. From Palanga the whole of it is a drive of about half an hour, and the distances that matter run south across the strait to the dunes and inland to Kaunas and Vilnius.

The port, the cruise quay and Memel Castle
Klaipeda is first of all a port. It is the principal ice-free port on the eastern coast of the Baltic Sea and it works round the clock, so cargo ships, ferries and the occasional sailing ship share the river mouth with the Old Town. Cruise ships tie up at the Pempininkai Quay on the Dane, close to the centre, and the cruise terminal is listed as open every hour of every day. It takes vessels up to 315 m long, and larger liners anchor in the harbour and send their passengers ashore in tenders. Cruise calls are listed from April through October.
The Teutonic Order founded the fortress in the 13th century, called it Memelburg, and the older German name of the city, Memel, is a reminder of it. The walls were pulled down in the 19th century, but the bastion complex on the right bank of the Dane remains, with a small museum that shows the excavated sections of the old castle. The castle grounds also host the Klaipeda Castle Jazz Festival.
What the quay means for a jet booking
– Joining or leaving a ship is a fixed-date job. The sailing time sets the day, and we plan the jet backwards from the hour guests must be on board, with a margin for the road from Palanga;
– Check which kind of call it is. A ship alongside the quay is a short ride from the Old Town, while a larger liner at anchor means a tender and a longer morning, and the shipping agent decides the boarding time;
– Luggage for a long voyage is heavy. A couple with six suitcases is a midsize-cabin conversation, and the van to the quay is booked together with the jet.
The Curonian Spit and Neringa
The Curonian Spit is the reason many clients come at all. It is a narrow strip of dunes and pine forest between the Baltic Sea and the Curonian Lagoon, a UNESCO World Heritage property under cultural criterion (v) and a national park, and its Lithuanian part is run by the city of Klaipeda and by the small municipality of Neringa, which has only about 4,700 residents. The dunes average about 35 m in height and some reach 60 m, and built-up areas cover only about 6 per cent of the land, so the settlements stay small.
the tip of the spit, across the strait from Klaipeda, with the Lithuanian Sea Museum in Nerija Fort: an aquarium of about 180 species in 25 tanks, and dolphin and sea lion showsfirst stop
the Hill of Witches, a sculpture park with more than 70 wooden figures from Lithuanian legends and folk tales, and a lighthouse with a viewing platformabout 720 residents
the largest settlement: the Parnidis dune, rising to 52 m with a granite sundial, and the summer house that Thomas Mann built, now a cultural centre with a memorial exhibition and a festivalabout 3,500 residents
Most clients take a night or two on the Spit and keep Klaipeda as the base, taking the car over on the New Ferry or leaving it behind and crossing on foot. Where time is the constraint, the helicopter section below shows the quicker way.
Flying to Klaipeda with a dog or a cat
The flight is the easy part of taking a dog or a cat to the Baltic coast: the animal sits with you in the cabin, never in a hold, and on a sector of just over two hours most simply sleep. The paperwork is where trips go wrong, and the date on the health certificate is the detail to get right, since it lasts ten days from the day it is issued.

What Lithuania, as an EU country, asks for:
- An ISO microchip that can be read with a standard scanner, fitted before the rabies vaccination or at the same time. Lithuania's veterinary service states that the date of the vaccine cannot precede the chip;
- A rabies vaccination given when the animal was at least 12 weeks old, with 21 days elapsed before entry, and boosters kept on schedule;
- An Animal Health Certificate from an Official Veterinarian, valid for ten days for entry to the EU and for the return to Britain as stated on the certificate, together with the owner's written declaration that the journey is not commercial. A British pet passport is not accepted for entry to the EU;
- No more than five animals per traveller, with the documents and the chip checked at a travellers' point of entry. Palanga airport is on the official list of those points for pets, and our handler arranges the check at the terminal;
- No tapeworm treatment on the way in, since Lithuania is not among the countries that ask for it. For dogs returning to Britain, a treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival, recorded with product, date and time. Cats are exempt.
What catches owners out on the coast
– The tapeworm treatment is a vet appointment you book in Klaipeda towards the end of the stay. Count back from the departure time, because the window is 24 to 120 hours, and if the last nights are on the Spit, remember that the ferry and the road to Palanga come after the appointment;
– The order of the chip and the vaccine matters. A vaccination dated before the microchip does not count, and an animal that arrives without the right papers may be refused entry or sent back at the owner's expense;
– A week in Nida with a dog is an ordinary booking, yet every guesthouse, hotel and helicopter accepts an animal separately, so settle each of them before the quote.
Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide. For the flight home, we confirm the entry point and the paperwork for the animal in writing before the flight.
The Klaipeda calendar: from the ship parade to the Sea Festival
Klaipeda has one loud weekend and a string of quieter events around it. The loud one is the Sea Festival at the turn of July and August; jazz, the Thomas Mann Festival and the lagoon fishermen's holiday make July the busiest month on the coast, and winter belongs to the dunes and the few who come for them.
Why the calendar matters less than the rooms
The aircraft are rarely the scarce item for these events, because most of the Klaipeda calendar is made of city and festival events and not of aircraft events. Rooms on the Spit, tables in the Old Town and drivers are the items most likely to be tight in July and on the Sea Festival weekend, so ask for those first and book the jet once they are confirmed. Away from those weeks the coast is an easy place to charter into, often in a day or two, although the prior permission step means the handler should be told early.
Ways to bring the Klaipeda price down
- Pick a midweek date outside the festival weeks. A flight in late spring or in September is usually calmer on the coast than the Sea Festival weekend, and the rooms are easier to find;
- Fly into Palanga when the trip is really to the coast. Landing 300 km away at Vilnius to save an hour in the air makes no sense once the car is added back, and the hop from the capital to the coast is better flown than driven;
- Take the light jet only when the party and the bags are small. Three people with cabin bags save real money in a CJ3+; six people with a week of luggage for the Spit do not, and the quote that looks cheap on paper is often the one that changes.
Types of flights
Klaipeda produces a mix of its own, because it is a working port city on the one side and a holiday coast with a World Heritage landscape on the other.
- Port and shipping business, with a small team, fixed meeting dates and a request to be back in Britain the same evening;
- Guests joining or leaving a cruise ship or a yacht at the quay, on the day of the sailing;
- The Sea Festival weekend, usually a party of friends or a family;
- Weeks on the Curonian Spit in summer, from Smiltyne to Nida, with the car taken across on the ferry;
- Baltic loops that link the coast with Kaunas, Vilnius and Riga;
- Day trips from London, which at two hours twenty each way are a long day but a workable one.
A day trip works if the plan is modest. Wheels up at eight, on the ground at about twenty past twelve local time, and off again at six in the evening leaves roughly four hours in the city once the drive each way is taken out, and puts you back in Britain at about half past six. The crew waits for you at the airport and that waiting time is charged, yet the total is usually below two one-way charters, and we price the route both ways so you can compare.
Empty Legs
A jet that has brought a party to the Lithuanian coast often flies home empty, and the operator would rather sell that leg cheaply than position the aircraft for nothing. That is an empty leg. On the Klaipeda corridor the supply follows the summer weekends and the festival dates.
Where Klaipeda empty legs come from
– Friday arrivals. Small parties fly in at the start of a weekend and the aircraft goes straight back empty, which puts a leg from the coast towards London on the market;
– Festival turnarounds. The Sea Festival and the July music weeks bring groups in and out on fixed days, and the aircraft often leaves one end of the trip empty;
– Baltic rotation. Operators moving between Riga, Kaunas, Tallinn and Copenhagen put short regional legs on the market, and those short hops can be cheap.
The coast has fewer flights than the capital, so a client who can name a few days has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. The trade-off is the usual one: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can disappear when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Palanga match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
In Klaipeda a helicopter earns its place on the Spit and not in the city. The Old Town and the quay are a short drive apart, but Nida is about 50 km away by road and ferry, and the dunes, the lagoon and the pine forest are the view that justifies rotary flight. The helicopter does not replace the jet from Britain; it replaces the last hour of the road.
about 30 km, against a drive of half an hour or moretypically 15 minutes
across the lagoon and the dunes, against about 50 km of road plus the ferrytypically 15 to 20 minutes
the Old Town, the castle moat, the cruise quay and the dunes from the airtypically 30 minutes
the Spit is a national park and a World Heritage property, so a site is agreed in advanceon request
Before you plan around a helicopter
– Rotary flight is limited by where it may set down. A landing away from an aerodrome needs an agreed site and the landowner's consent, and on the Spit the park rules apply as well, so we check the status of a hotel lawn or an estate garden before the quote is written;
– Coastal weather sets the schedule. Wind, fog and low cloud can stop a helicopter on a day when the jet lands without trouble, so a transfer needs a road and ferry alternative planned into the same day;
– For the Sea Festival weekend and the weeks of the Nida festivals, book the helicopter together with the jet, or expect to be told there is no rotary capacity.
The machines on this ground are the Airbus H125 for short scenic work, the wider H130 for estate and lagoon-side transfers, and the H135 and the Bell 429 where a twin is wanted. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable.

Klaipeda charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
DAY TRIP · OUT AND BACK
A working day in the port and home for the evening
Biggin Hill - Palanga and return, Citation CJ3+, about 2 h 20 min each way · 3 pax
Three people left a London airfield at eight, landed at about twenty past twelve local time and drove to a harbour-side meeting that began at two. The aircraft stayed on the ground with its crew, and that wait was a line in the quote, but the total was still lower than two one-way charters. Back in Britain by half past six.
SEA FESTIVAL · FIXED WEEKEND
Six friends for the festival weekend
London Luton - Palanga, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 15 min · 6 pax
The rooms were booked first and the aircraft second, which is the right order for this weekend. The handler confirmed the prior permission a week ahead, the car met the party at the airport and took the road to the hotel, and the return was set for the Monday morning when the crowds had gone.
CRUISE · JOINING A SHIP
A couple and six suitcases for a sailing from the quay
Farnborough - Palanga, Phenom 300E, about 2 h 15 min · 2 pax
The sailing time set the day. We worked backwards from the hour the guests had to be on board, left a margin for the road from Palanga and booked a van for the luggage with the jet. The passport check was done at Palanga, so the transfer to the quay needed no further formalities.
SPIT WEEK · A DOG ON BOARD
A family of five and a spaniel for a week in Nida
Southampton - Palanga, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 25 min · 5 pax + dog
The Animal Health Certificate had to be dated inside ten days of arrival, and the vet appointment in Klaipeda for the tapeworm treatment had to fall between 24 and 120 hours before the flight home. We booked both with the aircraft, planned the ferry crossing around the car and the luggage, and the guesthouse took the dog.
CAPITAL THEN COAST · ONE BOOKING
Meetings in Vilnius, then the sea
London City - Vilnius - Palanga - London City, Citation XLS+ · 5 pax
Two days of meetings in the capital followed by a long weekend on the coast. The aircraft stayed with the party for the hop of about an hour to Palanga, passport control happened once at Vilnius, and the quote was well below the same trip booked as three separate charters.
EMPTY LEG · MONDAY WEST
A jet already going your way
Palanga - London Luton, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 2 h 10 min · 3 pax
The aircraft had brought a party in on the Friday and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for a departure to the London fields.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Klaipeda
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Klaipeda?
About 2 hours 20 minutes from both London City and Biggin Hill in a light jet, and around 2 hours 10 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes from Luton or Farnborough in a Phenom, covering roughly 822 to 857 nautical miles to Palanga, the airport for Klaipeda. From Birmingham or Manchester allow about 2 hours 20 minutes in a midsize cabin, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow around 2 hours 15 minutes to 2 hours 20 minutes. Lithuania is two hours ahead of Britain, so an eight o'clock departure lands at about twenty past twelve local time.
2How much does a private jet to Klaipeda cost?
From about £11,300 one way on a light jet out of London City, and £11,350 from Biggin Hill. A Phenom from Luton or Farnborough runs £11,350 to £11,700, a midsize cabin costs £14,550 from Birmingham and £15,450 from Bristol, and from Scotland allow £17,950 to £18,600. The Sea Festival weekend and the peak weeks of July can price above these figures.
3Which airport should a private jet use for Klaipeda?
Palanga (PLQ / EYPA), about 30 km north of the port. It has a 2,280 m runway, and customs and immigration are listed as available round the clock. The small airfield that carries the name of Klaipeda (EYKL) has a 500 m runway, is limited to daylight VFR flights and is not an airport for jets. Kaunas (KUN / EYKA), about 200 km away, and Vilnius (VNO / EYVI), about 300 km away, are the alternatives.
4Does a private jet need permission to land at Palanga, and what happens on arrival?
Yes. Prior permission is strictly applied to non-scheduled and general aviation arrivals, with a request at least 24 hours ahead when handling is pre-arranged, and the handling has to be agreed first. Lithuania is in Schengen and Britain is not, so passengers pass passport control and customs on arrival. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180.
5How do I get from Palanga to Klaipeda and the Curonian Spit?
Palanga airport is about 30 km from Klaipeda along the A13 highway, typically 30 to 40 minutes by car. From the Old Ferry terminal a pedestrian ferry crosses to Smiltyne on the Spit in about five minutes, and cars use a separate New Ferry terminal. Nida is about 50 km from Smiltyne by road, typically 45 to 60 minutes, and a helicopter covers the distance from Klaipeda in about 15 to 20 minutes where a landing site is agreed.
6Can I take my dog to Klaipeda on a private jet?
Yes. The dog travels in the cabin with you, and Lithuania, as an EU country, asks for a microchip fitted before or with the rabies vaccination, a vaccination at least 21 days old and an Animal Health Certificate valid for ten days for entry. Palanga airport is on the official list of points of entry for pets. For the return to Britain a dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival. Cats are exempt from the treatment.
