Private jet charter in Bruges
Forty minutes after leaving a London airfield a jet is on the ground in West Flanders, 25 km from the Markt, and that is most of the case for chartering to Bruges: the old town is small enough to cross on foot in about an hour and a half, and the flight is shorter than the direct train from London to Brussels. Private Jets UK arranges the charter around whatever the trip is for. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. The airport that carries the name of the city stands at Ostend, on the coast. Its runway is 3,200 m, customs and immigration sit inside the private terminal, and the real decisions are the date, the size of the aircraft and whether the trip stops at the old town or carries on to the coast or to Brussels.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Bruges depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from London Luton, an Embraer Legacy 600 and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Bruges?
Forty minutes from Biggin Hill or London City in a light jet, much the same from Luton, and an hour and a quarter or a little more from Edinburgh or Glasgow, with an hour to add to the watch on arrival because Belgium keeps Central European time. These are among the shortest sectors we sell across the Channel. At 111 to 398 nautical miles the aircraft spends most of the trip climbing and descending, and the cruise is a short stretch in the middle. The table gives the sector from each British field we use, all of them flown into Ostend-Bruges.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall
Leave central London at seven, take off from Biggin Hill at about eight and you are on the ground at Ostend a little before ten local time, with the hour of clock change counted in. The airport is about 25 km from the centre of Bruges and the drive takes 25 to 30 minutes, so someone who left a London office at seven can be sitting in the Markt by half past ten. Count the drive to the British airfield and short formalities at each end, and the journey from central London to the Markt takes roughly two and a half hours. The direct train from London to Brussels alone takes close to two hours, and Bruges is a further hour or more beyond that.
Turboprop or light jet: the real choice on this crossing
– A Pilatus PC-12 flies Biggin Hill to Ostend in about 50 minutes against 40 in a light jet, and the quote is about £2,200 lower. For two to six people with ordinary bags it is the sensible choice, and a 3,200 m runway is far more than a turboprop needs;
– The light jet earns its premium when the party wants a jet cabin, when the same aircraft carries on afterwards to Switzerland or the Mediterranean, or when the passengers are coming from Scotland or Northern Ireland, where the extra speed starts to count;
– A midsize cabin or larger only makes sense for a big group, a mountain of luggage, or a trip in which Bruges is one stop among several. For a plain Bruges weekend it pays for hours you will never fly.

Prices for the private jet flights to Bruges
Typical trips from Britain, cheapest first, all flown into the private terminal at Ostend-Bruges. Christmas market weekends, Ascension week and the October car week in Knokke price above these figures; the calendar further down explains why.

On a sector this short the price does not fall away with the distance. The aircraft still has to position to a London airfield and back, and that is billed whatever the length of the flight, which is why the first six lines of the table sit so close together. It is also why a turboprop makes such a difference here.
We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Due to a large database of available business jets, we can help you find an optimal jet and crew. Short hops and long legs
Amsterdam is about 101 nautical miles from Ostend and Paris Le Bourget about 141, which is turboprop distance: a PC-12 flies either in under an hour, and the Amsterdam line in the table costs a little over half of a light-jet sector. Luxembourg and Frankfurt are the business routes where a jet earns its place, because the clock matters more than the cabin. Zurich, Geneva and Nice are the Alpine and Riviera sectors, and Ibiza and Dubai are made-to-order itineraries for a larger class of aircraft.
Before you accept an onward quote
– Late departures. Ostend applies its noise rules between 23:00 and 06:00 local time, and an aircraft over about 8.6 tonnes needs a low enough noise quota rating to move at all. We check the category of the aircraft before a late departure goes into a quote, because a dinner that runs long is the usual reason it matters;
– Terminal hours. The private terminal typically serves every business flight from 08:00 to 20:00 local time and outside those hours only the crews and passengers it has been booked to handle, so an early or night departure is named in the booking and not discovered at the door;
– One booking or several. London to Bruges, Bruges to Geneva and Geneva back to London is one itinerary on one aircraft, and it costs noticeably less than three separate charters because the crew and the aircraft stay with you.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Bruges:
Light jets, and where most bookings land
At forty minutes this is the class most Bruges trips settle on. Nothing here lacks the range for the crossing, so the money goes on the hour and not on capability you will not use.
Midsize, for luggage and onward legs
A week of luggage, a party that carries on to Geneva or Nice, or six adults who want room to stretch will push a booking past the light-jet hold.
Super-midsize and large
For a delegation that travels as one party, for a cabin used as a meeting room, and for itineraries that leave Belgium for the Gulf rather than turning round.
Turboprops
On a crossing of about 110 nautical miles a PC-12 gives away ten minutes to a jet and keeps a large share of the fee. The runway at Ostend is 3,200 m, so length is never the issue.
Helicopters
Not for the flight from Britain but for the last stretch: Knokke and the Zoute, Antwerp or Brussels. Belgian rules restrict landings outside aerodromes, so any private site is cleared before a quote is written.

Those are only a few of the aircraft we can offer. Ostend is a small base, so for many bookings the aircraft starts in Brussels, Antwerp, the Netherlands or northern France and positions in, and that positioning is a part of the price that a good broker watches closely.

Business aviation airports in Bruges
Bruges has one natural airport and five others that turn up in quotes for particular reasons. Better to recognise them before a quote does.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Ostend-Bruges International OST / EBOS |
The answer for almost every trip, though the name misleads. The field is about 25 km west of Bruges and 5 km south of Ostend, and the drive to the centre of Bruges takes 25 to 30 minutes. One runway of 3,200 m, an air traffic service and fuelling that run round the clock, and customs and immigration inside the North Sea Aviation Center, which has a VIP lounge, a crew lounge with rest rooms and hangar space for aircraft up to 45.5 tonnes. Holiday flights and freight share the airport, but business aviation has an apron of its own |
| Brussels BRU / EBBR |
The capital's airport, about 12 km north-east of Brussels at Zaventem and an hour or a little more from Bruges by road, or about 80 minutes by train. Three runways of 3.0 to 3.6 km, customs and immigration round the clock and an ExecuJet FBO in the general aviation zone. It is a slot-coordinated airport, handling is compulsory and general aviation slots are requested through the handler, so it suits a trip that is also a Brussels trip and not a plain Bruges one |
| Antwerp ANR / EBAW |
About 5 km south of Antwerp, with a runway of 1,510 m that suits turboprops and light to midsize jets and nothing larger. The airport typically runs until about 23:00 local time, passenger customs follows the same hours and handling is compulsory through Flyinggroup. Worth a look when the day's business is in Antwerp and Bruges is the evening |
| Kortrijk-Wevelgem KJK / EBKT |
A regional field about 4 km west of Kortrijk and some 50 km south of Ostend-Bruges as the crow flies, with a runway of about 1,900 m. Customs on site and compulsory handling. It typically opens from 06:00 to 21:00 local time, with prior permission needed until 23:00. A light jet or turboprop option for southern West Flanders, not a rival to Ostend |
| Lille LIL / LFQQ |
The French alternative, 7 km south-south-east of Lille and about 70 km from Ostend-Bruges in a straight line. A runway of about 2,800 m, customs, round-the-clock operation and handling that is optional, with Jetex among the handlers listed. Worth considering when the trip is as much about Lille and northern France as about Bruges |
| Brussels South Charleroi CRL / EBCI |
A low-cost airline base 46 km south of Brussels, with a 3,200 m runway after its extension. It is well over a hundred kilometres from Bruges by air, and we mention it only so that you recognise the name if an operator proposes it |
Four things to settle before the aircraft leaves London:
One terminal, one handler
Ostend has a single business aviation terminal, the North Sea Aviation Center, and handling is required for visiting business aircraft between two and 45.5 tonnes. Customs, immigration, fuel and the lounge sit under one roof, so there is no handler to choose, only a booking to get right. We send the passenger details with the handling request so that border control is ready at the door.
Hours, slots and noise
The airport, its tower and the fuelling run round the clock. From 23:00 to 06:00 local time the noise rules apply: aircraft over about 8.6 tonnes need a noise quota rating of 12 or lower, and the use of the APU and engine test runs are restricted. The aviation databases we use list no slot requirement for private flights. The terminal desk is typically staffed from 08:00 to 20:00, so a night arrival is named in the booking and the hours confirmed for your date.
Border and passport
Belgium belongs to Schengen and Britain does not, so passport control takes place inside the terminal. Britons may stay up to 90 days in any 180 without a visa, provided the passport was issued less than ten years before arrival and is valid for three months after departure. First-time visitors may be asked to give a photograph and fingerprints at the new entry system.
Car and the last 25 km
Give the driver the terminal as well as the airport. Allow 25 to 30 minutes to Bruges, under an hour to Ghent and 75 to 90 minutes to Brussels by car. Bruges is a walking city, so tell us the hotel and we arrange the drop-off with it, and not at the first gate the satnav finds.

Border, passport and when Brussels wins
Ostend is the right field for Bruges and the wrong one for a diary that begins in Brussels. If the morning is in the European quarter, land at Brussels Airport, where customs and immigration also work round the clock, and take the hour to Bruges in the evening, when the old town is at its best. If the meeting is in Antwerp or Ghent, those fields or the road from Ostend decide.

From the apron to the Markt
From the runway it is half an hour to the centre of Bruges, and after that the city is done on foot. The historic centre is a compact oval enclosed by canals, small enough to cross in about an hour and a half, and the distances that matter run outward: to Ghent, to Brussels, to the cruise port and across the Channel.
about 25 km, which is why Ostend takes nearly all the business traffic25 to 30 minutes
about 60 km south-east, for the Ghent festivities in July or a day among the museumsunder 1 hour
about 115 km by road, which is why a Brussels first appointment flies into Brussels75 to 90 minutes
from the station under the terminal, and the cheap way to finish a Brussels arrivalabout 80 minutes
the port for the ships, with a road transfer joining the jet at Ostend to the quayabout 17 km
the drive that follows the Channel Tunnel from Folkestone, which takes 35 minutes under the seaabout 1 h 30
Flying to Bruges with a dog or a cat
Belgium wants the standard EU paperwork, and the crossing is so short that an animal has barely settled before it lands. It sits in the cabin beside you, and on arrival customs officers in the terminal look at the papers in person. The date on the certificate is where people slip: for entry into the EU it is good for ten days from issue and no longer.

What Belgium asks for:
- An ISO microchip, put in before or on the day of the rabies jab and never after it;
- A rabies vaccination at 12 weeks old or later, followed by a wait of 21 days before the flight. Belgium turns away vaccinated animals younger than 15 weeks, so a young puppy or kitten has to stay at home;
- An Animal Health Certificate signed by an Official Veterinarian within the ten days before arrival, which then covers onward travel in the EU and the return to Britain for up to six months;
- A declaration from the vet, signed by you, that the animal is a pet and will not be sold or re-homed on the trip;
- A check by customs on arrival, which at Ostend happens a few steps inside the terminal. Up to five animals per traveller are treated as a non-commercial movement;
- For dogs, a tapeworm treatment given by a vet at least 24 hours and no more than five days before the flight back to Britain, entered in the paperwork.
Where owners trip up on the Bruges run
– The tapeworm window is easy to miss. It opens five days before the flight home and closes 24 hours before it, so on a long stay the treatment is a Belgian vet appointment, while on a weekend it can be done in Britain just before you leave. We ask for the return time before anyone books the vet;
– The old pet passport is no use. One issued in England, Scotland or Wales is not accepted for entry into the EU, each trip needs its own certificate, and if the rabies cover runs out while you are away the certificate cannot be used for the journey home;
– The animal is rarely the difficulty on a December weekend; the hotel and the helicopter are. Each has to agree to a dog separately, and we ask both before the quote goes out.
Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide, and our managers confirm the position in writing for your dates before a booking is taken.
The Bruges calendar: a small city with fixed dates
Bruges does not have a season so much as a handful of dates that fill the centre and the coast at the same time. A city of about 118,000 residents is credited with some eight million tourists a year, so the weekends fill before the diary does. The processions, the winter market and the October car week in Knokke are the moments that move prices; the rest of the year a booking made a day or two ahead is usually workable.
Why the Christmas weekends cost more
It is not the flying. Forty minutes in the air is hardly a constraint, but the hotel rooms in a historic core of 410 hectares are, and so are the cars and the aircraft that are free on the same two evenings of the weekend. Leave the booking to the week itself and the quote may involve an aircraft positioned from Brussels or Antwerp; give it three or four weeks and the choice widens and the price eases. When the city is quiet, short notice is rarely a problem.
Ways to bring the Bruges price down
- Take the turboprop. On this sector it costs about 40 percent less than a light jet, £3,100 against £5,300 from Biggin Hill, and the flight is ten minutes longer;
- Choose midweek and keep out of the peaks. A Tuesday in February costs what the table says; the Friday before the Christmas market weekend does not;
- Name the aircraft's base. A jet that already sits in Brussels, Antwerp or the Netherlands needs far less positioning than one from Britain, and on a sector this short that positioning is a big part of the bill;
- Decide whether the crew should wait. A same-day return is cheaper than two separate one-way charters, while a night in Bruges with the aircraft flying home empty and coming back empty is not.
Types of flights
Most Bruges bookings fall into a few patterns, because the city is a heritage centre, a coastal gateway and a neighbour of Brussels all at once.
- Day trips and weekends from London, which at forty minutes each way are the commonest booking: lunch, the canals and an evening flight home;
- Christmas market weekends and Ascension week, usually small parties and sometimes with a dog;
- Cruise transfers to and from Zeebrugge, with the jet at Ostend-Bruges and a car for the road leg to the ship;
- Knokke-Heist and the Zoute: golf at the Royal Zoute Golf Club in the dunes, more than forty art galleries in the town and the October car week;
- Business and study travel: the port of Bruges-Zeebrugge is one of Europe's major modern ports, and the College of Europe, a postgraduate institute of European studies, has its main campus on the Dijver canal;
- The Flanders Fields memorials around Ypres, a day out by road, where the Last Post is sounded at the Menin Gate every evening at eight o'clock;
- Brussels combined with Bruges: a morning in the European quarter and an evening in the old town, flown into whichever airport suits the first appointment.
On a day trip the aircraft and crew stay at the terminal while you are in town. That waiting is a billed line in the quote, yet the total is still lower than two separate one-way charters, and with forty minutes each way the day has room for a long lunch and a museum. We price the day trip and the two one-ways side by side so that you can see which is cheaper.
Empty Legs
An empty leg is a positioning flight with nobody aboard, sold at a fraction of the usual price. Ostend is a thin corridor and the legs that appear on it follow the calendar, so it helps to know what creates them.
Where Bruges empty legs come from
– Weekends and market dates. Aircraft bring a party in on Friday and fly home empty, and the Sunday evening leg back towards the British fields is the one most often offered;
– Car week in October. Aircraft arrive for guests in Knokke and go back to their bases when the concours ends, sometimes on the same day;
– Maintenance and positioning. The private terminal at Ostend has hangar space and on-site maintenance, so aircraft can move in empty and out again with someone aboard.
With so little traffic on the corridor, flexibility is the currency: a client who can leave on any of three days has far better odds than one who needs a particular Saturday. The price of the discount is control, since the operator holds the date and the hour and a leg can disappear if the booking behind it moves. The free legs are listed on our empty legs page, and a Bruges or Ostend match is flagged to you the day it is released.

Helicopter charter
A helicopter does its useful work at the edges of a Bruges trip. Nobody lands in the old town, which is for walking; rotary flight pays off on the coast at Knokke, in the cities of Antwerp and Lille, and in the capital. Times below are flying times with a few minutes for start-up and approach.
the car-week transfer, and the way to reach a golf or gallery day without the coast roadabout 15 minutes
into northern France, where both countries are in Schengen and no border control appliesabout 30 minutes
with the airport's own helicopter pads at the other end, a useful landing for a city meetingabout 40 minutes
against an hour or more by road, for a client who has a Brussels meeting after a Bruges lunchabout 40 minutes
Before you plan around a helicopter
– Belgium regulates helicopter landings outside aerodromes by ministerial decree, so a hotel lawn or a private estate has to be cleared before the quote is written;
– Heliports are few. Knokke is listed with a heliport at Westkapelle and a single grass helipad, and Antwerp airport publishes helicopter pads of its own. We confirm that a site is open and approved before it appears in a quote;
– Coastal weather can keep a helicopter on the ground on a morning when the jet lands normally, so every coast transfer has a road fallback built into the day.
For the aircraft we favour the Airbus H125 on short hops, the wider H130 when comfort matters, and the twin-engine H135 or Bell 429 when a twin is wanted. The helicopter and the jet are booked together, so both crews work to a single timetable.

Bruges charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
Six typical jobs from our booking notes show how a Bruges quote becomes a flight. They are described in outline, with the particulars changed.
DAY TRIP · OUT AND BACK
Lunch in the Markt and home for dinner
Biggin Hill - Ostend-Bruges and return, Citation CJ3+, about 40 min each way · 4 pax
A morning departure from Biggin Hill put the party on the ground at Ostend before ten local time and at a table in the Markt by half past ten. The aircraft and crew stayed at the terminal through the afternoon and flew everyone back for the evening. The wait is billed, but the total still came in under two one-way charters, and nobody had to think about trains.
CHRISTMAS MARKETS · A DOG ON BOARD
Two couples and a labrador for a December weekend
Farnborough - Ostend-Bruges, Pilatus PC-12 NGX, about 55 min · 4 pax + dog
The certificate had to be issued inside ten days of landing, and the tapeworm treatment had to be logged in the window between 24 hours and five days before the flight home, so for a Friday to Sunday trip the vet was booked for the Friday morning, before the flight out. Aircraft, hotel and dog were settled in one exchange of messages, and a turboprop kept the quote well below a light jet.
CAR WEEK · KNOKKE BY HELICOPTER
Six guests for the October concours
London Luton - Ostend-Bruges, Citation XLS+, about 40 min · 6 pax
A hospitality party for the closing weekend of the car week in Knokke-Heist. The jet landed at Ostend, a helicopter took the party along the coast to the Zoute, and the site was confirmed before the quote went out. The return left on the Sunday evening, comfortably before the night noise rules apply.
CRUISE · THE SHIP SAILS FROM ZEEBRUGGE
A family boarding a cruise ship
Southampton - Ostend-Bruges, Phenom 300E, about 45 min · 5 pax
The ship left from the cruise terminal at Zeebrugge, about 17 km from Bruges. The family flew to Ostend, cleared customs in the terminal and drove on to the port with the luggage in the car. The aircraft and the car were on one booking, and the embarkation time on the ticket set the departure from Southampton.
BRUSSELS FIRST · BRUGES FOR THE EVENING
A Brussels meeting and an evening in the old town
London City - Brussels and a road transfer, Citation CJ3+, about 50 min · 3 pax
The morning was in the European quarter, so the aircraft landed at Brussels Airport and not at Ostend. The handler requested the slot, customs worked round the clock, and a car took the party to Bruges in an hour or so for dinner. A plain Bruges booking would have used the other airport.
EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY EVENING WEST
Three days of flexibility, one cheap seat home
Ostend-Bruges - London Luton, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 40 min · 3 pax
An operator had flown a weekend party to Ostend and needed the aircraft back at the London fields. The client offered a three-day window and not a fixed Sunday, took the Phenom the day it was released and paid a fraction of the one-way price. The only cost was the freedom to choose the hour.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Bruges
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Bruges?
About 40 minutes from Biggin Hill or London City, and 40 to 45 minutes from Luton and Farnborough, covering roughly 111 to 142 nautical miles into Ostend-Bruges. From Birmingham or Manchester allow 50 to 55 minutes, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow an hour and a quarter to an hour and twenty minutes. Belgium is one hour ahead of Britain, so a departure at eight lands shortly before ten local time.
2How much does a private jet to Bruges cost?
From about £5,300 one way on a light jet out of Biggin Hill or London City, and £5,700 from Luton or Farnborough in a Phenom. A turboprop on the same sector starts at about £3,100. A midsize cabin from Birmingham or Southampton runs about £6,800, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow allow £9,400 to £9,800. The Christmas market weekends, Ascension week and the October car week price above these figures.
3Which airport should a private jet use for Bruges?
Ostend-Bruges International (OST / EBOS) for almost every trip. It is about 25 km from the centre of Bruges, runs round the clock with noise rules between 23:00 and 06:00 local time, and has a private terminal with customs and immigration under one roof. Brussels (BRU / EBBR) is the alternative, an hour or a little more away, when the trip begins in Brussels. Antwerp suits only smaller aircraft.
4When should I book a private jet to Bruges?
Away from the peaks a day or two of notice is normally enough. Around the Christmas market weekends, Ascension week, a Triennial year and the October car week in Knokke, allow three to four weeks. Hotels, cars and the few aircraft free on a Friday and Sunday evening tighten together, and a late request usually pays for an aircraft positioned from abroad.
5Can I fly on from Ostend to Knokke, Antwerp or Brussels?
Yes. Knokke-Heist and the Zoute are about 15 minutes by helicopter from the airport, Antwerp about 40 and Brussels about 40, and a turboprop or jet can cover the longer hops. Belgium regulates helicopter landings outside aerodromes, so we confirm any hotel or private site before quoting. Brussels Airport is also about 80 minutes from Bruges by train.
6Can I take my dog to Bruges on a private jet?
Yes. The dog sits in the cabin with you. Belgium wants a microchip, a rabies vaccination given after 12 weeks of age and at least 21 days before travel, a health certificate issued within ten days of arrival and a signed declaration that the dog is not for sale, and it refuses animals under 15 weeks. Before the flight back to Britain a dog needs a vet's tapeworm treatment, given between 24 hours and five days ahead.
