Charter a private jet to Spain from any UK airport

Private Jets UK arranges private jet charters from Britain into Spain, from the Basque coast to the Canaries, and between the Spanish cities once you are there. Our customers have access to 6500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. For 15 years of successful work, we have established partnerships with the world’s largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you the most favorable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. The aircraft we put on Spanish routes sit mostly at Farnborough, Luton and Biggin Hill, with a summer contingent based in Palma and Malaga that shortens the positioning legs in season.

private jet charter

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Spain depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.

You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:

  • using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
  • via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
  • by landline or cell phone;
  • via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).

Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated based on the following data: departure from London Farnborough Airport, a Citation XLS+, two passengers. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.

How long does it take to fly to Spain?

Spain covers a lot of ground, so the answer depends on which part of it you are heading for. These are the sectors from London, timed gate to gate:

London to Bilbao and the north
525 nautical miles, the shortest crossing into Spain and the gateway to San Sebastian and Rioja
about 1 h 40 min
London to Barcelona
643 nautical miles, and the same again to Girona for the Costa Brava
about 1 h 50 min
London to Madrid
696 nautical miles into Barajas, fifteen to twenty minutes from the centre
about 2 hours
London to Palma or Ibiza
751 and 784 nautical miles, with the Balearic season running May to October
2 h 05 to 2 h 15
London to Malaga and Seville
899 to 929 nautical miles, covering Marbella, Sotogrande and Andalusia
2 h 20 to 2 h 30
London to Tenerife and the Canaries
around 1,600 nautical miles, which is beyond a light jet and a different exercise altogether
about 4 h 15 min

From the north of Britain add roughly half an hour

Edinburgh sits 928 nautical miles from Madrid against 696 from Luton, and Aberdeen a little over a thousand. That difference is about forty minutes in the air on most cabins, and it also shifts which aircraft makes sense: a light jet that handles London to Madrid comfortably starts to look tight from Aberdeen to Malaga with a full cabin. We check the pairing against the actual departure point rather than quoting a national average.

The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

Two things worth knowing about these figures

– Spain is a long country. Bilbao sits 525 nautical miles from Luton and Malaga 929, so the northern coast and the Costa del Sol are the better part of two hours apart in the air. The Canaries are further again at around 1,600 nautical miles, which puts them beyond a light jet;

– July and August carry a premium on the Balearics and the Costa del Sol that the mainland cities do not. The same cabin into Madrid in August frequently costs less than into Ibiza, because inland Spain empties while the coast fills.

Private jet flights within Spain and to the islands

A good share of Spanish private jet bookings are internal legs rather than arrivals from Britain: a board moving between Madrid and Barcelona, a family joining a yacht in the Balearics, a group heading south to Seville for a long weekend. These are the domestic sectors we quote most often:

Two things worth knowing about the domestic sectors

– Mainland Spain is compact by air. Nothing between Madrid and the coasts runs much over an hour, so handling and crew time carry more of the figure than the miles do. The Canaries are the exception, sitting almost a thousand nautical miles out into the Atlantic, with Las Palmas a short hop beyond Tenerife;

– Because so much summer traffic runs one way, aircraft return north empty in the other. That produces a steady supply of empty legs out of the Balearics and Andalusia from June onwards, and it feeds the smaller fields too, so a leg into Alicante, Murcia, Almeria or Zaragoza is worth asking about alongside the obvious ones.

We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Due to a large database of available business jets, we can help you find an optimal jet and crew. If you have any questions about the departure or the flight itself, you can ask them using the form below:

Prices depending on the type of business jet

We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

  • Large jet (similar to Legacy 600) - from 4900 to 5800 GBP per flight hour;
  • Business liners - from 10300 GBP per flight hour;
  • Light jet - from 2100 to 3000 GBP per flight hour;
  • Long-haul jet (similar to Global 5000, Gulfstream G550, Falcon 7X, etc.) - from 5800 to 8800 GBP per flight hour;
  • Medium-sized jet (identical to Cessna Citation XLS+, Hawker 800XP, etc.) - from 3000 to 3700 GBP per flight hour;
  • Turboprops - from 850 GBP per flight hour.
  • Large medium-class jet (similar to Challenger 300, etc.) - from 4600 to 5500 GBP per flight hour;
  • Small jet, from 1700 to 2500 GBP per flight hour;

Turboprops

For the short internal legs and the smaller fields such as Sabadell. About an hour between Madrid and most of the coasts, where the hourly saving outweighs the extra minutes in the air.

Business aviation airports in Spain

Spain runs one of the largest private jet markets in Europe, with over 85,000 business aviation movements recorded in the first eight months of a recent year and volume still rising. Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga and Palma carry the bulk of it, with several more fields behind them, and each behaves differently on the ground:

Airport Ground transfer How it operates
Madrid Barajas
MAD / LEMD
15 - 20 min to the centre Four runways, open around the clock and the only Madrid airport serving business aviation since Torrejon closed to general aviation. Slots are required but the general aviation parking is generous and rarely runs short, even in peak weeks
Barcelona El Prat
BCN / LEBL
20 - 25 min to the centre A 24-hour airport of entry with no curfew for modern aircraft. Slots are required for every movement and departure tolerance under the collaborative system is zero, so the flight plan and the slot have to match exactly. Parking is usually plentiful
Malaga
AGP / LEMG
25 min to Marbella One of the busiest general aviation terminals in Spain and the gateway to Marbella and the Costa del Sol. Overnight parking fills through the summer, so the aircraft often drops and repositions rather than waiting on the apron
Palma de Mallorca
PMI / LEPA
20 min to the centre A purpose-built business aviation terminal on Mallorca and one of the heaviest private traffic loads in Europe. Slot congestion is a daily fact of summer rather than an exception, which is what makes early dates matter here
Ibiza
IBZ / LEIB
15 min to the town Less dedicated infrastructure than Palma, and demand on Ibiza concentrates into July and August weekends. Slot coordination well ahead is what makes an Ibiza arrival work
Valencia
VLC / LEVC
15 min to the centre Quieter than Barcelona with straightforward handling, and the practical entry for Valencia, the Costa Blanca and the interior of the region
Tenerife South
TFS / GCTS
20 min to the resorts The Tenerife gateway to the Canaries, almost a thousand nautical miles beyond mainland Spain and a different flight-planning exercise altogether
Sabadell
QSA / LELL
30 min to Barcelona A general aviation field north of Barcelona for light aircraft and turboprops, useful when El Prat slots are tight and the party is small

Where the aircraft can park matters more than where it can land

Every airport in the table takes a private jet without difficulty. What separates them in July is what happens after you step off. Madrid and Barcelona hold enough general aviation parking that an aircraft can wait for you through a two-day trip. Malaga, Palma and Ibiza run out, and the aeroplane then leaves and comes back for the return, which costs two extra sectors and needs planning rather than improvising. On a mainland city trip the question rarely comes up; on a Balearic or Costa del Sol booking in high summer it is the first thing we settle.

SlotsRequired at all the major airports, arranged by the handling agent
Operating hoursMadrid and Barcelona around the clock; the island and coastal fields vary
BorderSpain is in the EU and Schengen, so British passports are checked on arrival at the terminal
Technical stopsQuick turnarounds of 25 to 45 minutes are normal at Spanish fields
Peak seasonMay to October on the Mediterranean; July and the New Year period in Madrid
Aircraft securityAirside guards are generally not permitted, and airports rely on their own patrols

Two Grands Prix in one season, and what that does to the ramps

Spain is one of only three countries hosting two Formula One rounds this season, and both of them move private aircraft in volume:

Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix
the long-standing Catalan round, which keeps its traditional early-summer date at Montmelo
12 to 14 June
Spanish Grand Prix at Madring
the new Madrid street and permanent hybrid circuit at the IFEMA complex, 5.4 km and 22 turns
11 to 13 September
Mobile World Congress, Barcelona
the heaviest corporate week of the Barcelona year and harder to place than the race
late winter
Feria de Abril, Seville
two weeks that fill Andalusian hotels and aprons together
April
San Sebastian and the northern season
the Basque coast and its restaurant calendar, with Santiago de Compostela and Jerez drawing their own seasons west and south
summer

The September race is the date to book early for

Madring sits inside the IFEMA exhibition grounds, a few minutes from Barajas, which makes the airport unusually convenient for a race weekend and unusually busy because of it. The round falls immediately after the summer break and forms part of a run of three races in successive weekends, so operators are moving aircraft across Europe at the same time. Handling fees rise and slots compete. Clients who came to us in the spring had the weekend arranged without difficulty; the same request in late August is a different conversation, and that pattern repeats every year on both Spanish rounds.

Flying to Spain with a dog or a cat

Spain is among the simplest private jet destinations we fly with an animal. It sits inside the European Union and is listed for the return to Britain, so nothing here runs to the months that unlisted countries demand.

The one fact to read before you book

Because Spain is a listed country, the journey home needs no rabies blood test and no waiting period. What it does need is an Animal Health Certificate issued in Britain within ten days of travel, and that document then covers return trips for six months. Owners who fly to Spain several times a season get the certificate once and use it repeatedly, which is worth knowing before paying for a new one each trip. The tapeworm treatment applies to dogs only and only on the way home, given by a Spanish vet between one and five days before departure.

  • An ISO-standard microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination rather than after;
  • Rabies vaccination at least 21 days old on the day you land, with the animal at least 12 weeks old when it was given;
  • An Animal Health Certificate from an Official Veterinarian, dated no more than ten days before entering the EU;
  • Tapeworm treatment for dogs on the return leg only, recorded with the date and the product;
  • Up to five animals per booking without commercial documentation.

Cats need the same paperwork as dogs but skip the tapeworm step entirely, which makes a Spanish trip with a cat the simpler of the two. Where the difference shows is on the ground rather than in the air: a cat in a familiar carrier settles quickly on a two-hour sector, while a large dog benefits from the cabin floor and the space a charter gives it. Neither faces a weight limit, and neither goes anywhere near a hold.

Is there a vet at the Spanish airports?
practices near Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga and Palma handle charter clients regularly, and we book the return appointment with the flight
not on the field
Summer heat on the apron
a Spanish ramp in August is punishing for an animal, so the transfer meets the aircraft and boarding is timed for the cooler hours
the real constraint
Certificate validity
one document covers the whole season for an owner who travels repeatedly
six months of return trips
Flight time from London
to the mainland, short enough that most animals sleep through it; the Canaries take twice that

Requirements for birds, rabbits and the less common species, along with the countries where the timeline runs to months rather than days, are set out on our flying with pets guide.

Types of flights

Our company provides all types of business flights. Due to a wide variety of jets, we can arrange:

  1. private flights;
  2. corporate flights;
  3. business class flights;
  4. concert tours;
  5. medical flights (with doctors and special equipment on board);
  6. tourist flights for large and small groups;
  7. sports charters for teams and coaching staff;
  8. combined flights (partly by business jet, and partly by helicopter);
  9. exclusive flights on luxury jets for businessmen, celebrities, and politicians;
  10. cargo flights, etc.

A flexible approach and a wide experience allow us to solve problems of any complexity. In 90% of cases, we manage to arrange urgent flights (on the day of application). But to be sure, we recommend you send a request at least 2-5 days before the desired date of departure.

Empty Legs

Another way to fly cheaper is to use Empty Legs. This service allows you to save on regular charter rates. As you know, part of the flights is one-way (for example, when the passenger flies from England to Spain). After the flight, the jet returns to its home base (for example, to London Farnborough airport) empty. Such flight is called “Empty Legs”. Empty leg flights can be as cheap as 50-75% off the standard charter price. This option is profitable for both the passengers and the charter companies. The clients can enjoy the services of business aviation at a very good price, while the airlines recoup part of the cost of fuel and jet maintenance.

It is almost impossible to find Empty Leg flights, as the information about them is stored in special databases available only to the aviation brokers and specialized companies. You should know that Empty Leg flights offer the same service as private jet charters. The passengers enjoy a 100% private jet flying experience. Services and flight conditions are discussed individually. We should note that our company cooperates with the world’s largest home bases, so we can offer our clients a wide choice of return flights. Just send a request to our manager who will help you find the best flight options. Please note that Empty Leg flights are sold out very quickly. To avoid such a problem, you can leave us a deposit, and we will contact you as soon as the flight of your choice becomes available. For additional information, check with the operators.

– Each price is for the whole aircraft rather than per seat. A Legacy 650 at 15,800 EUR carrying thirteen works out around 1,200 a head for a four-hour crossing to the Canaries;

– Set each line beside the same class in the price tables above. A Citation XLS+ out of Malaga at 8,400 EUR against 19,400 for a fresh charter is the saving in plain terms;

– Northbound legs cluster from September as the summer fleet returns, and southbound ones in May and June as it arrives. Registering a window with us catches more of them than watching a page.

Jet Sharing

Today, Jet Sharing is just as popular as private jet charter. This service involves the joint rental of a business jet with other passengers (that is, the cost of the flight is divided equally between all passengers of a specific flight). This type of flight has become especially popular in the last few years. Many people like Jet Sharing because it allows you to enjoy all benefits of business aviation at favorable prices.

We should note that the number of passengers per Jet Sharing flight varies from 3 to 8, while the cost of the flight ranges from 1200 to 6000 pounds (depending on the destination). This way, you can get a comfortable flight on a business jet (and maybe even meet new business partners) at a very good price. You can check out the schedule of Jet Sharing flights by filling in the online form or contacting our operators by phone or WhatsApp.

Main advantages of this service:

  • All privileges of business aviation, including the use of the business aviation terminal and the check-in 30 minutes before the flight, are retained;
  • You can also use the services of the VIP Lounge (included in the price of the flight);
  • No baggage restrictions;
  • Affordable price: jet sharing is much cheaper than private jet charter;
  • Pets can be carried directly in the aircraft cabin.

Our consultants will be happy to help you choose the best flight.

Helicopter charter

Helicopters earn their place alongside the private jet on the coasts and the islands, where a road that looks short on the map takes an hour in August. These are the legs we arrange most:

Ibiza to Formentera
the smaller island has no airport at all, so this or the ferry is the whole choice
about 10 minutes
Palma to the Tramuntana villages
Deia, Valldemossa and the north-west coast, where the mountain road is slow by design
about 15 minutes
Malaga to Marbella or Sotogrande
against an hour or more on the coast road through the summer traffic
15 to 20 minutes
Barcelona to the Costa Brava
Begur, Cadaques and the northern coves, a three-hour drive at the wrong time of day
20 to 30 minutes
Madrid to the Castilian estates
the shooting country south and west of the capital, poorly served by road
25 to 45 minutes

The machines that work these routes

– Airbus H125 and Bell 407, the light singles behind most villa and estate transfers. Five or six seats and precise into a confined site, which is what the Tramuntana and the Costa Brava need;

– Airbus H130 for a family or a group of six, quieter in the cabin and roomier, and the type most often used on the Balearic hops;

– Airbus H135 and H145 where twin engines are wanted over water, which on the Ibiza to Formentera crossing and the island connections is what many clients ask for.

Two points on Spanish rotary legs

– Villa and hotel pads are licensed individually and want agreeing days in advance. Where the destination is private ground we start that process when the booking is made;

– Summer thermals over the Tramuntana and the Sierra Nevada make afternoon flying uncomfortable rather than impossible, so morning slots are the ones worth asking for.

What our clients say about flying to Spain

A few words from people who have made these trips with us. First names only, and the wording is theirs.

FAMILY HOLIDAY

“Everything perfect, start to finish”

Luton to Malaga · Citation XLS+ · Beth

“Just back from Marbella. Everything perfect. The pre-flight organisation was the most efficient part, with every email answered by return. The crew were extremely friendly with the children. Thanks to Merryl and to the whole team.”

BUSINESS

“Transparent quote, proper follow-up”

Biggin Hill to Barcelona · Citation XLS+ · Daniel

“Clear, timely and proactive communication from the first enquiry right through to a follow-up call after we landed. The quote set out the aircraft, the operator and the cancellation terms up front, so I knew exactly what I was choosing. Aircraft and crew excellent both ways.”

WITH CHILDREN

“They kept me updated from abroad”

Manchester to Palma de Mallorca · Praetor 600 · Robert

“I booked the flight for my wife and children and was not travelling myself. It turned out to be quite a day: a winter storm at Manchester, my wife delayed on the motorway, de-icing, and both kids full of cold. The team kept me updated the whole time even though I was abroad. They landed safely, and that is what you pay a broker for.”

GOLF

“Busy dates, still ahead of schedule”

Cardiff to Malaga · Citation XLS+ · Alan

“What began as a straightforward request became rather more complex, as finding the right aircraft over the May bank holiday was a task in itself. They came back with several options, the clubs travelled with us, and we actually landed ahead of schedule.”

FIRST TIME

“An honest review of a very good trip”

Bristol to Ibiza · Citation CJ2 · Josh

“Our first private flight. To be honest about it: the CJ2 is listed as having a toilet, but it is more of an emergency arrangement than anything you would plan around, and the tray table was a little loose. I mention this so the review does not read like an advert, because everything else was excellent. The pilots were great and we left and landed to the minute. There is really not much not to like about flying privately.”

EMPTY LEG

“Last-minute empty leg, great price”

Ibiza to Luton · Citation Mustang · Clara

“We took a last-minute empty leg at a great price. The reception at the private terminal in Ibiza was charming, we departed on time, the flight was cosy and the pilots were super friendly. Happy with my choice.”

Frequently asked questions about flying to Spain

1How long does it take to fly to Spain by private jet?

About two hours from London to Madrid or Barcelona, two and a quarter to Palma and two and a half to Malaga. From Manchester or Edinburgh add roughly half an hour. Tenerife and Gran Canaria are the exception at a little over four hours, since the Canaries sit close to sixteen hundred nautical miles from Britain.

2How much does a private jet to Spain cost?

From about 14,900 EUR one way from Bristol to Madrid on a light jet and 19,400 EUR from Luton to Malaga on a midsize cabin. Internal Spanish legs start lower: Madrid to Valencia from 5,600 EUR and Madrid to Barcelona from 8,900 EUR. The Canaries and the Balearic peak weeks sit well above those figures.

3Which airports in Spain do private jets use?

Madrid Barajas and Barcelona El Prat carry the mainland traffic, both operating around the clock with slots arranged by the handling agent. Malaga serves Marbella and the Costa del Sol, Palma and Ibiza the Balearics, and Tenerife South the Canaries. Sabadell near Barcelona takes light aircraft when El Prat is tight.

4Do British passport holders need a visa for Spain?

No visa is required for short visits, and the border formality happens on arrival at the terminal rather than before departure. Spain is in the Schengen area, so the stay counts against the ninety days in any hundred and eighty that applies across the zone. Our managers confirm the current position for your dates as part of the booking.

5When is the busiest time for private flights to Spain?

July and August on the Balearics and the Costa del Sol, where slots and overnight parking both run short. Madrid peaks differently, in July and again over the New Year. This season Spain also hosts two Formula One rounds, at Barcelona in June and on the new Madrid circuit in September, and both weekends want booking months rather than weeks ahead.
