Flying with a dog on a regular civilian plane can be accompanied by various obstacles and difficulties, which sometimes have to be overcome at the very last moment. It is much more comfortable for the pet and its owner to fly on a private plane. Our company organizes business jet flights within the UK and across Europe. We take into account all the wishes of the customer and select such a format of air travel in which the dog will feel as comfortable as possible, and its owner will not have to worry that they will not be allowed abroad.
Features of dog air transportation
You can take a dog with you on a flight, even if you are traveling on a state-owned airline plane. However, in most cases, the animal is placed in the luggage compartment, which is very stressful for it. When renting a business jet, a dog, regardless of its size and age, can be taken to the cabin. The owner of a four-legged pet does not have to worry about his friend, and if necessary, it can be fed, watered, and simply calmed down.
However, traveling on a private plane is subject to the same rules as flying with an animal on civilian flights. That is, the owner must:
- Find out whether his/her dog will be allowed into the country of destination. It is prohibited to import dogs of certain breeds or individuals under the age of 3-4 months to a number of states;
- Prepare all the necessary documents for the pet. First of all, this is an international veterinary passport. You need to think about the registration of certificates and permits in advance, it is not always possible to collect them within 2-3 days before departure;
Put down all the necessary vaccinations for the dog and, if necessary, carry out antiparasitic treatment.
Each country has its own laws regarding the importation of pets into the states. Some of the rules are periodically changed, so the information when planning a flight with a dog should always be clarified.
In the cabin of a business jet, the pet must be in a cage or be strapped next to the owner's seat so that it does not interfere with the movement of flight attendants and other passengers (if the flight is carried out using the Jet Sharing system).
When contacting our company, customers with a pet can count on all possible assistance. Our catalog contains many business jets ready to fly to European countries, as well as international and domestic flights from England. Employees of Private Jets UK will immediately send the customer a list of documents that need to be processed and will help with their registration. We have up-to-date information, so if all the instructions of the flight consultant are followed, the owner of the animal will not have any difficulties when passing border and veterinary control.
Rental price
The price of a flight on a private plane is determined individually in each case. The rental price includes:
- Fuel costs, which is approximately 30% of the total costs;
- Aircraft air navigation services;
- Remuneration of pilots and flight attendants;
- Airport parking costs;
- Maintenance of the board.
The cost of renting a business jet also depends on the number of passengers, the type of liner and the year of its release, the route. The price increases if the passenger orders individual meals and makes special requirements for the equipment ocabin’s equipmentf the cabin.
The price of one flight hour also depends on the type of aircraft:
- A flight on a large plane, for example, on the Legacy 600, costs from 5800 to 6800 euros per hour;
- A flight hour on a business liner costs about 12 thousand euros;
- Flying on light and small aircraft costs about 3 thousand euros on average;
- Turboprops cost 10,000 euros per flight hour;
- The flight hour of long-haul vessels costs from 6 to 11 thousand euros.
The calculation of the aircraft lease is carried out after clarifying all the nuances of the application. The cost is prescribed in the contract and changes only when the client adjusts the contract terms.

International rules for air transportation of dogs
If you want to transport dogs by plane within the countries of Europe, it is mandatory to issue an international passport, all information in it is duplicated in Latin.
At the stage of preparing a pet for flight, you need to:
- Conduct its chipping. You need to install a microchip according to the ISO11784/11785 standard, entry to European countries is denied if the dog does not have a chip but a tattoo. The microchip number is entered in the veterinary passport. If the chipping is not carried out according to the recommended standard, then you should take a scanner with you, with which an employee will be able to check it at the border control;
- Carry out deworming. Preparations for worms are given to the dog no earlier than 5 days before departure and no later than a day before it. A note about the procedure is entered in the passport;
- Put a rabies vaccine. Animals are vaccinated against dangerous infection strictly after the chip is installed. The vaccine is administered in advance, within 3 or more weeks before the flight, since immunity to rabies is formed for 21 days. Drugs against the virus must be certified in the European Union;
- Take a rabies antibody test. The analysis must be strictly carried out in accredited laboratory centers;
- Get an AHS certificate. It is issued by a veterinarian in a specialized clinic no earlier than 10 days before departure. AHS confirms that the animal is healthy. Due to this certificate, you can move around European countries for 4 months.
The veterinary passport must indicate the breed of the dog, its age, nickname, color. The documents contain all information about vaccinations (dates of formulation, names of drugs). It is also necessary to clarify the need for additional vaccination. So, if you want to enter France, dogs will need to be additionally vaccinated against plague, leptospirosis, and infectious hepatitis.
Only pets that are at least 12 weeks old are allowed on the plane. The animal must be completely healthy, it is forbidden to transport pregnant or newly born dogs. In addition, the ban applies to brachycephalic breeds, that is, with a flattened muzzle, such as Pekingese or pugs. They endure flying especially hard, as it is much more difficult for them to breathe in the air. Before the flight, it is better to show such an animal to a veterinarian and get recommendations from him, compliance with which will help to transfer the journey without complications.
Restrictions on the import of dogs
As has already been mentioned, the veterinary control service may refuse to accept an animal if it is too young or sick. Some countries also have laws prohibiting the import of fighting dog breeds.
Dangerous breeds include different types. Each country has its own restrictions. So it is forbidden to import pit bull terriers, Argentino Great Danes, Rottweilers to Germany. Besides these breeds, the UK also forbids Japanese Tosa, Argentine Great Dane, Staffordshire terriers. In Spain, there are restrictions on the import of bull terriers and Rhodesian ridgebacks. The list of breeds that are definitely prohibited for import can be found out at the consulate or at the veterinary service of the airport.
Rules for the importation of dogs into the UK
The importation of all animals into the UK states is regulated by DEFRA rules. Currently, there is a special PETS scheme for the import of dogs and cats with a number of rules. If these rules are followed, then the pet can be transported to England, bypassing the mandatory 4-month quarantine. In this case, it is necessary to start preparing for the flight at least 7 months in advance since only in this case will it be possible to comply with all the formalities and put down vaccinations.
According to the PETS scheme, the importation of animals into the territory without quarantine involves:
- Implantation of a dog chip conforming to ISO 11784 or ISO 11785. The microchip must be checked before and after installation, and its digital code is entered into the passport;
- The animal is vaccinated against rabies only after chipping;
- Dogs are given an antiparasitic drug within 10-14 days before the rabies vaccine is administered;
- Within approximately 30 days after vaccination against rabies, the blood is taken to determine the titer of antibodies to the causative agent of the disease. An animal can be imported to the UK only within 6 months after the blood shows that the pet has immunity to rabies – this is a mandatory rule for England;
- Treatment of the dog from ticks and worms of the genus Echinococcus multilocularis. It is carried out no earlier than 2 days before the flight and no later than 24 hours before it. The treatment is necessarily performed with one of the drugs containing praziquantel.
When applying for a veterinary passport, you should follow standard international rules. It is necessary to make sure that when recording vaccinations, the date of vaccination, the name of the drug and its manufacturer, the date of revaccination, if necessary, are indicated. This information is also certified by the signature and seal of the veterinarian, and the passport itself is issued only in a licensed clinic. An AHS certificate is also required for importation into the UK.
If all the rules are followed, the animal will be examined at the veterinary control point, all documents will be checked, and import into the territory of the state will be allowed. After passing the inspection, they also give a certificate of permission, if available, the owner will be able to move freely around the country.
It is easier to leave England with a dog. If you want to depart to another country, you will only need to follow the rules that are common throughout the European Union.
Features of dog transportation in business jets
If you want to transport dogs weighing up to 8 kg in the cabin of a private plane, you need to purchase a cage. The animal must move freely in it, stand up to its full height, turn without difficulty. The cage must be rigid, securely locked, and ventilated. Large dogs are allowed on board in a muzzle and on a strong leash, the latter must be equipped with a reliable fastening system so that the dog can be fastened next to the chair.
We also have the following recommendations for our customers:
- Train your pet for the flight within 1-2 weeks before the flight;
- Do not feed or water the dog within 5-7 hours before departure. Brachycephalic animals are not recommended to be fed within 12 hours before the flight, so they tolerate the flight more easily and the likelihood of vomiting with a height difference decreases;
- Before the flight of the animal, you need to walk in advance.
You need to take water and wet wipes with you on the flight. There should be an absorbent litter in the cage. The veterinary service of the receiving airport must be notified that you are arriving with an animal within 2-3 days before departure. This is best done by email.
Our advantages
Private Jets UK specializes in organizing flights around the UK and Europe, including with animals. If you want to have a flight with a dog, we will provide a private plane of the type corresponding to the client's requests. Dogs tolerate flying on our planes well, as there are air conditioners, noise reduction complexes, and pressure-equalizing systems in the cabin. In such conditions, dogs do not experience overloads.
Charter flight customers can also count on:
- Individual meals on board;
- Transfer to and from the airport;
- Assistance in booking those apartments and hotels that accept dogs;
- Selection of a car for rent in the country of destination.
The company's personal manager will make sure that all documents are prepared so that there are no difficulties during customs and veterinary control. Business aviation passengers can arrive to board the plane within 30 minutes, this time is quite enough for passing pre-flight formalities.
According to the law, animals are allowed to be imported to England and other countries only through veterinary control points. Not all air terminals have them. In the UK, veterinary control is available at London airports such as Heathrow and Gatwick, there is also a veterinary service in Belfast, Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester, Glasgow, Bradford.

How to pay for a flight and refund money for a failed flight
Payment for the aircraft lease is carried out after the signing of the contract. You can deposit cash or make a wire transfer. In some situations, an invoice is more convenient, but in any case, our company allows the client to choose the payment method that is more profitable for him/her.
If the scheduled flight is canceled at the client’s request, the funds won’t be returned in full. This is quite understandable since certain costs for the organization of the flight were already on the part of the air broker. However, our company tries to make sure that the client loses as little as possible. In those situations, when the lease is canceled due to our fault, which fortunately happens extremely rarely, the funds are returned in full.
You can find out all the conditions for renting business jets by phone or by sending a request to our company's email.
