Private jet charter in Austria
Two kinds of trip make up most of what we fly to Austria: a business day in Vienna, and a winter weekend in the Tyrol that takes far less time to reach than most people assume. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. For 15 years of successful work, we have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you the most favorable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. On Austrian bookings we look first for an aircraft that is already positioned in Vienna, Salzburg or Innsbruck, because a jet that does not have to fly out empty to collect you takes a whole sector off the bill.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Austria depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated based on the following data: departure from London Biggin Hill Airport, a Citation CJ3+, two passengers. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Austria?
Austria is longer than it looks on a map of Europe, and the times from London fall into two groups: the western Alps at under two hours, and Vienna and the south-east at a little over two. These are the sectors from London Biggin Hill, gate to gate:
525 nautical miles, the closest Austrian jet airport and the shortest sector on this pageabout 1 h 45 min
569 nautical miles, with the German border two kilometres from the runwayabout 1 h 50 min
601 nautical miles up the Danube corridor into Upper Austriaabout 1 h 55 min
654 nautical miles for Carinthia and its lakesabout 2 h 05 min
683 nautical miles to Styria and the Red Bull Ringabout 2 h 10 min
696 nautical miles, the longest Austrian sector we fly from the south of Englandabout 2 h 10 min
The shortest sector is not the easiest one
Innsbruck is the nearest Austrian airport to London and the one that asks most of a crew. The approach threads a valley, the runway is 2,000 metres long, and the pilots need a specific familiarisation before they may use it in poor weather. Vienna is about twenty-five minutes further but flat, long-runwayed and open round the clock. Distance does not rank the Austrian airports; the schedule and the crew do. From Manchester add about 20 minutes to any of these times, and from Edinburgh about 40.
The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

Prices for the private jet flights to Austria
Typical one-way prices from British airports into Austria, listed cheapest first. Distance does most of the work: a light jet from the south of England to the Tyrol sits at the bottom of the table, and a larger aircraft out of Scotland at the top:
| Route | Aircraft | Price, one way |
|---|---|---|
| London Biggin Hill - Innsbruck 525 nm / 972 km |
Citation CJ3+ up to 7 |
from £7,850 |
| Southampton - Innsbruck 567 nm / 1,050 km |

from £17,200 |
| Glasgow - Vienna 936 nm / 1,733 km |
Challenger 605 up to 12 |
from £21,150 |
Two things worth knowing about these figures
– A one-way price includes the empty flight home of the aircraft. That is why £7,850 from Biggin Hill to Innsbruck is not half of a return, and why the same jet booked there and back in one go costs noticeably less per direction than two separate one-way trips;
– The spread across the table comes from three steps: the light jet to the Tyrol and Salzburg, a midsize cabin for Vienna and the south, and a larger aircraft from Scotland. Glasgow to Vienna at £21,150 is a different class of flight from Stansted to Salzburg at £8,450, and most of the gap is distance rather than comfort.
Private jet flights within Austria
Austria is a small country with a great deal of mountain between its cities, and the internal sectors are short in distance but not always simple on the ground. The usual reasons to fly inside the country are a Vienna meeting followed by lunch in the Tyrol, and the transfer of a party from a business arrival to a resort:
| Route | Aircraft | Flight time | Price, one way |
|---|---|---|---|
| Salzburg - Innsbruck 78 nm / 144 km |
Pilatus PC-12 NGX up to 9 |
about 35 min | from £3,100 |

| Vienna - Salzburg 150 nm / 278 km |
Citation CJ4 Gen2 up to 8 |
about 45 min | from £5,950 |
| Innsbruck - Graz 175 nm / 324 km |
Citation CJ4 Gen2 up to 8 |
about 50 min | from £5,950 |
| Vienna - Innsbruck 226 nm / 419 km |
Citation XLS+ up to 9 |
about 55 min | from £6,800 |
Two things worth knowing about the internal sectors
– The shortest pairs are close enough that a car or a train is a fair alternative, and we will say so when it is. Where a jet earns its fee is the long pair: Vienna to Innsbruck, at £6,800, is the longest pair among these airports at 226 nautical miles and turns a long day on the ground into a flight of about an hour;
– The price per mile is highest on the shortest legs, so combining two cities into one itinerary, say Vienna to Salzburg to Innsbruck, usually works out cheaper than separate bookings.
We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Due to a large database of available business jets, we can help you find an optimal jet and crew. If you have any questions about the departure or the flight itself, you can ask them using the form below:
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Turboprops
For the short hops between the Austrian cities, Vienna to Graz or Linz, and the cheapest way to cover them. On the run from Britain a turboprop is too slow to be worth quoting.
Light jets
The default for Innsbruck and Salzburg from the south of England. Check the hold before the seats: four skiers and their bags fill a light cabin faster than the seat count suggests.
Super-midsize
Where Vienna and the southern cities settle from the north of England, and where a party of eight lands whatever the sector. Enough cabin to work in on a two hour flight.
Heavy jets
For the Scottish and Northern Irish departures to Vienna and Graz, for a larger party, and for the corporate group that wants a conference table rather than a row of seats.
Ultra-long range
Rare on any Austrian sector, since Austria sits well inside the range of a midsize jet. A Vienna arrival by one of these usually belongs to a longer itinerary and not to a London sector.

Business aviation airports in Austria
Austria has one airport that handles everything and a ring of regional fields whose character is set by the mountains around them. Which one you land at depends on the resort or the meeting more than on the city name, and two of them come with rules that surprise first-time clients. These are the fields our Austrian bookings use:
| Airport | Ground | How it operates |
|---|---|---|
| Vienna VIE / LOWW |
18 km to the centre | The capital and the only Austrian airport open round the clock, with two long runways and a dedicated general aviation centre. Slots are required, and a limit on night movements applies in place of a curfew |
| Salzburg SZG / LOWS |
3 km to the centre | The festival city and the airport for Kitzbühel and the Salzkammergut, with a 2,750 metre runway and a precision approach. The daily operating window is tight in the evening, and handling is compulsory for any aircraft of 3.5 tonnes or more |
| Innsbruck INN / LOWI |
about 4 km to the centre | The ski airport for the Arlberg and the Tyrol, in a valley with a 2,000 metre runway. Crews need a specific familiarisation, and on winter weekends slots and a short parking limit apply |
| Graz GRZ / LOWG |
9 km to the centre | Styria and the Red Bull Ring, with a 3,000 metre runway and a separate general aviation centre where customs and passport control are done |
| Linz LNZ / LOWL |
about 20 min by bus to the centre | Upper Austria, with a 3,000 metre runway and a general aviation centre in its own terminal. Jets must meet the Chapter 3 noise limits |
| Klagenfurt KLU / LOWK |
2.8 km to the centre | Carinthia and the Wörthersee, with a 2,720 metre runway and an operating day that ends at half past eleven on weekdays and earlier on Saturdays |
| Wiener Neustadt East LOAN |
about 60 km south of Vienna Airport | A field used by business and general aviation, with no scheduled services. A runway of 1,067 metres keeps it to the lightest jets |
| Zell am See and St Johann in Tirol LOWZ and LOIJ |
4 km south of Zell, 1 km east of St Johann | Light-aircraft strips of about 660 and 750 metres. Neither is any use to a charter jet, so for Kitzbühel and Kaprun the aircraft lands at Salzburg or Innsbruck and the last stage is a car or a helicopter |
Four points settle most Austrian arrivals before a quote goes out:
Vienna: slots and two handlers
Open round the clock, but slots are required and night movements are capped under the mediation agreement with neighbouring communities. Jet Aviation runs the business aviation terminal with lounges, and Vienna Aircraft Handling the general aviation centre. Runways are 3,600 and 3,500 metres. If Vienna is full, the listed alternates are Linz, Graz and Bratislava.
Salzburg: handling and the ten o'clock edge
Handling by Salzburg Aviation Services is compulsory for aircraft of 3.5 tonnes or more. The 2,750 metre runway has a Category II and III approach, and the main apron has 14 positions plus a separate general aviation apron. Landings run by day until 22:00, then only the quietest aircraft may land until 23:00.
Innsbruck: winter weekends, customs and fuel
Slots are required on winter Saturdays and Sundays, and parking for more than 60 minutes is not allowed from Thursday evening to Sunday evening. Customs for arrivals from outside Schengen should be notified in advance. Air BP fuel is sold against a BP card or cash only, and catering is based at the airport.
Innsbruck: a crew briefed for it
Innsbruck is a Category C aerodrome, and crew familiarisation with its procedures is mandatory. Before a first instrument approach below a 3,000 foot ceiling or 5 kilometres of visibility, the pilot must practise in good weather on site or in an approved simulator. We confirm the crew and aircraft type before we send a quote.
a general aviation centre with customs and passport control in the building and a VIP room straight after security; the airport operates from 06:00 to 23:3006:00 to 23:30
a general aviation centre in its own terminal covers customs, passport control and de-icing; the airport opens at 05:30 on weekdays and 06:00 at weekends and closes at 23:0005:30 or 06:00 to 23:00
open 05:45 to 23:30 on weekdays, to 22:00 on Saturdays and 07:00 to 23:30 on Sundays; the handling office escorts passengers through passport and customs control, and catering comes from Delicious Jet Cuisineshorter on Saturdays
Austria has no single night ban, which is not the same as having none
Austria sets its limits airport by airport, and the edges are easy to misjudge. Vienna is open all night in principle, but the number of movements in the night core period is capped, so a late slot is not guaranteed. Salzburg draws its line at ten in the evening, with one quiet hour of arrivals after it. Innsbruck's general aviation centre closes at eight, although commercial landings are accepted until eleven. Klagenfurt and Graz close at half past eleven, Linz at eleven. Jets must also meet the Chapter 3 noise limits, which keeps the oldest types out. The working rule is simple: an Austrian evening return is planned backwards from the departure window, not forwards from the end of dinner.
Arriving from Britain: passports, customs and what to carry
Austria belongs to the European Union and to Schengen, and Britain belongs to neither. A private flight from London therefore arrives as a flight from outside both, and the border is dealt with at the first Austrian airport you land at.
British citizens may stay up to 90 days in any 180-day period without a visa; the passport must have been issued less than ten years before arrival and be valid for at least three months after the planned departureevery passenger, children included
customs and passport control are done at the general aviation terminal at Vienna, Graz and Linz; at Innsbruck customs for arrivals from outside Schengen should be notified in advancein the terminal, not on the apron
duty-free limits for a traveller aged 17 or over include 200 cigarettes, one litre of spirits or two litres of lower-strength drinks, four litres of still wine and sixteen litres of beerper person, not shared

Which airport for which part of Austria
The arrival field on an Austrian booking is almost always fixed by one address: the hotel in Lech, the office in the Vienna business district, the festival seat in Salzburg. These are the pairings behind most of our Austrian private jet bookings:
the capital, the banks and the international organisationsVienna, 18 km
the Mozart city and the Salzkammergut beyond itSalzburg, 3 km
about 80 km from both Innsbruck and Salzburg, with the St Johann strip too short for a jetInnsbruck or Salzburg
the Arlberg, a road transfer of 70 to 90 minutes from Innsbruck, or well under an hour by helicopterInnsbruck
Spielberg is an hour from Graz by car and about 20 minutes by helicopterGraz
the lake villages run along the railway out of KlagenfurtKlagenfurt
Three things that shape an Austrian booking
– The Alps decide the airport more often than the destination does. Tell us the village, not just the region, and we will choose the field and the last leg together;
– Winter weekends are a different product from winter weekdays: slots and parking limits mean the aircraft that flies you in on a Saturday often cannot stay, and the quote has to reflect that from the start;
– A short flight can hide a long transfer. Innsbruck to Kitzbühel is 75 minutes by road in good conditions, which is why the helicopter is a normal part of the booking.
Ski season: when Innsbruck and Salzburg run out of apron
Winter is the season that shapes Austrian private flying, and it concentrates on two airports. Innsbruck and Salzburg take most of the ski traffic for the Tyrol, Kitzbühel and the Arlberg, and both have limited apron space for private aircraft. A winter Saturday with many jets arriving for the same resorts strains both, and the airports respond with rules that no summer visitor ever meets.
about 80 km from Innsbruck and from Salzburg, and 75 minutes by road from Innsbruck in good conditionsInnsbruck or Salzburg
about 97 km from Innsbruck and 75 minutes by road, with a helicopter transfer of about 40 minutes; the ski area runs from 1,304 to 2,811 metresInnsbruck
at around 1,450 metres, with Innsbruck and Zurich the usual gateways and 90 minutes by road from InnsbruckInnsbruck
On a winter weekend the jet that brings you cannot wait for you
At Innsbruck, parking for more than 60 minutes is not permitted from Thursday evening to Sunday evening in the winter season, and slots are required on Saturdays and Sundays. The aircraft that flies you in drops you, leaves empty and returns for the way home, so a weekend in the Tyrol is quoted as two one-way sectors. From Biggin Hill to Innsbruck on a Citation CJ3+ that is £7,850 each way, about £15,700 for the weekend. A trip that sits outside the restricted window, arriving after Sunday evening and leaving before Thursday evening, can leave the aircraft on the apron and cost less. We price a Sunday to Thursday stay against a Saturday to Saturday one whenever a client has any flexibility.
Salzburg behaves differently but ends in the same place. The airport has historically asked for prior permission during the busy weeks from mid-December, and the evening limits described above apply to winter days exactly as to summer ones.
The Austrian calendar: a ski winter, a ball season and a festival summer
Austria has a calendar that repeats almost to the week, and each peak lands on a different airport. Knowing which airport an event uses is as useful as knowing its date:
What a festival evening does to a flight plan
Salzburg is the airport where the calendar and the clock collide. A festival performance can end after ten, and the published take-off window for Salzburg closes at 22:00. Guests who expect to fly home straight from the theatre will not be able to, and the sensible options are a night in the city with a morning departure, or an early-evening performance that ends in time. Vienna has no such edge. At Spielberg the pressure is of a different kind: a race weekend brings a crowd to one small area, helicopter seats tend to run short first, and the helicopter leg is best booked together with the jet.

Flying to Austria with a dog or a cat
Austria is an easy country to bring an animal into by private jet. The paperwork is the standard European set, and the part that needs planning is the appointment for the journey home.
The one fact to read before you book
The animal has to be presented to customs on arrival, and at Vienna that means the red channel. An Animal Health Certificate from an Official Veterinarian in Britain is valid for ten days for entry into the EU, and then for six months for travel onward within the EU and for coming back into Great Britain. A rabies blood test is not required for animals from Great Britain. Austria itself states that no other vaccinations are needed for entry. Dogs coming home need a tapeworm treatment given by a vet between 24 hours and five days before they re-enter Great Britain, and that is the appointment to book before you leave, not after you land.
- A microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination rather than after;
- Rabies vaccination at least 21 days old on the day you travel, given when the animal was at least 12 weeks old;
- An Animal Health Certificate for each trip, dated no more than ten days before entry;
- Tapeworm treatment for dogs on the homeward leg, recorded with the date and the product;
- No more than five animals per person, and the animal travelling with its owner or an authorised person.
Cats need the same list without the worming. In winter the question on an Alpine apron is cold rather than heat, so we ask for the transfer car to meet the aircraft and keep the animal in the warm until the crew is ready. There is no weight limit and no hold on a charter, so a large dog travels exactly as a small one does.
it must be given between 24 hours and five days before you re-enter Great Britain, so we book a practice in the city near your hotel or the departure airport alongside the flightbooked with the flight
depending on whether you are heading for the Tyrol or for Vienna and the south-east1 h 45 to 2 h 10
cold and sometimes icy at the Alpine fields in winter, mild in summer, and de-icing is a possible delaycold, not heat
ten days for entry, six months for travel within the EU and for the return to Great Britain, and one certificate per tripone per trip
Requirements for birds, rabbits and the less usual species, along with the countries where the timeline runs to months, are set out on our flying with pets guide.

Empty Legs
Another way to fly cheaper is to use Empty Legs. This service allows you to save on regular charter rates. As you know, part of the flights is one-way (for example, when the passenger flies from England to Austria). After the flight, the jet returns to its home base (for example, to London Farnborough airport) empty. Such flight is called "Empty Legs". Empty leg flights can be as cheap as 50-75% off the standard charter price. This option is profitable for both the passengers and the charter companies. The clients can enjoy the services of business aviation at a very good price, while the airlines recoup part of the cost of fuel and jet maintenance.
It is almost impossible to find Empty Leg flights, as the information about them is stored in special databases available only to the aviation brokers and specialized companies. You should know that Empty Leg flights offer the same service as private jet charters. The passengers enjoy a 100% private jet flying experience. Services and flight conditions are discussed individually. We should note that our company cooperates with the world's largest home bases, so we can offer our clients a wide choice of return flights. Just send a request to our manager who will help you find the best flight options. Please note that Empty Leg flights are sold out very quickly. To avoid such a problem, you can leave us a deposit, and we will contact you as soon as the flight of your choice becomes available. For additional information, check with the operators.
What an empty leg on the Austrian routes typically looks like, shown at about two fifths of the fresh one-way price. Real legs vary with the day, the operator and how late the flight is released, so read the figures as a level and not as an offer:
| Route | Aircraft | Capacity | Whole aircraft |
|---|---|---|---|
| Austria (Innsbruck) - UK (London Biggin Hill) | Cessna Citation CJ3+ | 7 seats | £3,300 |
| UK (London Stansted) - Austria (Salzburg) | Embraer Phenom 300E | 8 seats | £3,550 |
| Austria (Linz) - UK (London Biggin Hill) | Embraer Phenom 300E | 8 seats | £3,700 |
| UK (Bristol) - Austria (Innsbruck) | Embraer Phenom 300E | 8 seats | £3,800 |
| Austria (Vienna) - UK (London Luton) | Cessna Citation XLS+ | 9 seats | £5,250 |
| UK (Manchester) - Austria (Vienna) | Bombardier Challenger 350 | 9 seats | £7,200 |
| Austria (Salzburg) - UK (Edinburgh) | Bombardier Challenger 350 | 9 seats | £7,200 |
| UK (Glasgow) - Austria (Vienna) | Bombardier Challenger 605 | 12 seats | £8,900 |
How to read those figures
– Each price is for the whole aircraft rather than per seat. A Challenger 605 from Glasgow to Vienna at £8,900 carrying eight works out at about £1,100 a head;
– Set each line beside the same route in the tables above. A Challenger 350 from Manchester to Vienna at £7,200 against £17,200 for a fresh charter is the saving in plain terms;
– A ski weekend loads the traffic one way on Saturday and the other on Sunday, so the empty legs run against it: towards Britain on Saturday and towards Austria on Sunday. A client who can leave on a Sunday evening or fly out on a Monday sees far more of them than one tied to a Saturday.

Helicopter charter
In Austria the helicopter is a mountain and motorsport tool before it is anything else. A jet can bring you to Innsbruck or Salzburg in about two hours, and from there the last 80 kilometres to a Kitzbühel hotel or an Arlberg chalet is where a rotary aircraft changes the day:
about 80 km from either airport, against 75 minutes by road from Innsbruck on a good dayabout 30 minutes
the transfer lands at the heliport on the Arlberg and skips the road altogether, which is 97 km from the airportabout 40 minutes
the high villages at about 1,450 metres, 90 minutes by road from the airportabout 25 minutes
Spielberg is an hour from the airport by carabout 20 minutes
The machines that work these routes
– Airbus H125 and Bell 407, the light singles behind most resort transfers and the choice for a small party with ski bags;
– Airbus H130 and H135, which give a group of five or six more cabin and less noise on a half-hour leg;
– Leonardo AW139 for a larger group or a corporate party arriving together.
Two points on Austrian rotary legs
– A landing outside an aerodrome needs authorisation from the provincial governor under the Aviation Act, and the owner of the land must agree as well. A hotel lawn is not a heliport, so a transfer is planned between established landing sites, and any private site wants arranging well ahead;
– Salzburg limits visual flights, helicopters included, to daytime hours from Monday to Saturday, so a Sunday helicopter hop out of Salzburg is something to settle at the quoting stage, not on the day.

Austrian charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the Austrian routes look like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs described without names, and with a few particulars altered.
SKI WEEKEND · THE JET COULD NOT WAIT
A family of five, and rather more luggage than seats
Biggin Hill - Innsbruck and return, Citation CJ3+, about 1 h 45 min each way · 5 pax
They asked for the aircraft to stay at the airport from Saturday to Sunday and were told why it could not: at Innsbruck on a winter weekend parking is limited to an hour. The jet flew home empty and came back for them on Sunday, and the quote showed two one-way sectors from the first email.
VIENNA DAY RETURN
Two directors, a morning meeting and the last flight home
Biggin Hill - Vienna and return, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 10 min each way · 2 pax
Wheels up at seven in London, which is eight in Vienna, and on the ground by about ten past ten local time. The aircraft waited at the general aviation centre, with passport and customs control done in the terminal. Vienna has no curfew, so the evening return had a comfortable margin.
SALZBURG FESTIVAL · DEPARTURE BEFORE TEN
Four guests, a late performance and an early limit
London Luton - Salzburg, Phenom 300E, about 1 h 55 min · 4 pax
The performance finished after ten and the take-off window at Salzburg closes at 22:00. They had assumed that a private jet leaves when its passengers are ready. We moved the departure to the following morning and booked the hotel through the same request.
KITZBÜHEL · THE HELICOPTER WAS THE BOOKING
A group of six for the Hahnenkamm weekend
Farnborough - Salzburg + helicopter, Phenom 300E · 6 pax
The jet leg was the easy part. On the race weekend helicopter capacity into Kitzbühel is the scarce thing, so the rotary leg was fixed first and the flight times built around it. Booked together, the two legs ran to one schedule.
ARLBERG · THE NEAR AIRPORT IS NOT ALWAYS THE RIGHT ONE
A party for Lech who asked for another field
Southampton - Innsbruck, Phenom 300E, about 1 h 50 min · 4 pax
They had picked an airport by its name. We asked where they were staying. Lech is about 90 minutes by road from Innsbruck, and Innsbruck was the field that kept the road time down. Nothing about the aircraft changed; the answer came from the address.
EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY EVENING TO AUSTRIA
A client who gave us a window instead of a date
London Stansted - Salzburg, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 1 h 55 min · 3 pax
Ski weekends load the traffic one way on a Saturday and back on a Sunday, which leaves aircraft flying empty against the flow. The client gave us a three-day window rather than a single date, and a Sunday evening leg came up at a little over two fifths of a fresh one-way price. Flexibility is what makes this work.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Austria
1How long does it take to fly to Austria by private jet?
About an hour and three quarters from London to Innsbruck, just under two hours to Salzburg, and around two hours and ten minutes to Vienna or Graz, gate to gate. From Manchester add roughly twenty minutes and from Edinburgh about forty.
2How much does a private jet to Austria cost?
From about £7,850 one way from Biggin Hill to Innsbruck on a light jet, and £12,200 to Vienna on a midsize aircraft. Salzburg from Stansted starts around £8,450, and Vienna from Glasgow around £21,150. A winter weekend in the Tyrol is usually quoted as two one-way sectors.
3Which airports do private jets use in Austria?
Vienna handles the most traffic and is open round the clock. Salzburg and Innsbruck serve the ski resorts and the festival city, and Graz, Linz and Klagenfurt cover Styria, Upper Austria and Carinthia. Zell am See and St Johann in Tirol are light-aircraft strips that a charter jet cannot use, so Kitzbühel is reached through Innsbruck or Salzburg.
4What is special about flying into Innsbruck?
Innsbruck is a Category C airport in a mountain valley. Crews must be familiar with the procedures they intend to use, and before using instrument approaches in poor weather they need practice on site or in an approved simulator. On winter weekends slots are required and parking is limited to 60 minutes from Thursday evening to Sunday evening.
5Are there night flying restrictions in Austria?
Austria has no single night ban, and each airport sets its own limits. Vienna is open all night but caps night movements. Salzburg closes its landing window at ten in the evening, with one hour for the quietest commercial aircraft, and its take-off window also ends at ten. Innsbruck's general aviation centre closes at eight, Klagenfurt and Graz at half past eleven and Linz at eleven.
6Can I take my dog on a private jet to Austria?
Yes, with no weight limit and no hold. Austria asks for a microchip, a rabies vaccination at least 21 days old and an Animal Health Certificate dated within ten days of entry. No rabies blood test is needed from Great Britain, but dogs need a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 hours and five days before coming home. Up to five animals may travel with their owner.
