Private jet charter in Sandefjord
Under two hours from a London airfield, a jet puts you on the Vestfold coast, a shore of islands, harbours and old whaling money. The runway at Torp began as a NATO project and is used today mostly by low-cost airlines. Private clients use it for another reason. It is the airport of the Vestfold coast, a good way south of the capital, with a general aviation area on the north side of the field and an executive handler's terminal of its own. Three questions decide most charters here: whether Torp or Oslo Gardermoen suits the day, what the airport's hours and the handler allow, and what Norway expects of the passengers, the bags and any animal on board. Private Jets UK arranges the charter around all three. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Sandefjord is an easy flight into a plain, practical airfield. One long runway, one handler's terminal, a border that works, and a coast behind it that is best seen by someone who has not spent the morning in traffic.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Sandefjord depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from London City, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Sandefjord?
Close to two hours from the London fields, with an hour added to the clock on landing, since Norwegian time runs ahead of British. Torp lies 428 to 683 nautical miles from the fifteen British fields below, so each sector stays within light-jet range, and Aberdeen is the nearest, at just under an hour and a half aloft. Each field has its own line.

Door to door, with the extra hour on the clock
Wheels up at London City at seven means wheels down at Torp around ten, local time: the flight takes 1 hour 50 minutes and the Norwegian clock is an hour ahead. Torp is roughly 10 km from the centre of Sandefjord, so lunch in town is realistic. Oslo is a different matter: the airport itself puts the capital about an hour and a half away by train, so a meeting in central Oslo is better served by a landing at Gardermoen, and the section on airports below sets the two side by side.
What actually decides the aircraft for this route
– The runway is not the limit. Torp has one runway of about 2,950 m, so the choice runs from a light jet to a large cabin and rests on the party and its luggage, not on the field;
– Four or five passengers with normal bags sit comfortably in a light jet, and on a sector of close to two hours from London nobody needs more cabin than that. The price table shows what a midsize cabin would add;
– Golf bags, sailing kit, a family with a week of luggage or a delegation with presentation equipment push the party into a midsize cabin, and we quote one beside the light jet so the difference is visible. Eight or more passengers with baggage move into a large jet.

Torp is a useful base for the south of Scandinavia. Oslo is a hop of about half an hour, Gothenburg and Stavanger a little under an hour in a turboprop, and Copenhagen and Stockholm are short jet sectors; the Arctic is a proper trip. Typical one-way prices:

Torp or Gardermoen: where the saving really lies
The two airports are 68 nautical miles apart, about 35 minutes in a Pilatus PC-12, but the roads are a different story. Gardermoen is some 35 km north-east of central Oslo, Torp lies about 110 km south-west of it, and Access Oslo, the handler at both fields, describes the Torp terminal as the one for destinations south of the capital, where it can save up to 30 minutes of flight time. So an itinerary that ends in Vestfold, Telemark or the outer fjord belongs at Torp, one that ends in the Oslo business district belongs at Gardermoen, and a trip with both is quoted as two landings on one booking.
Before you accept an onward quote from Torp
– Ask which airport the quote starts from. If the jet is positioned from Gardermoen, the 68 nautical miles of that leg are part of your price, and a jet already based at Torp or in Gothenburg may work out cheaper;
– Check the strip at the other end of any onward hop. Skien, the nearest alternative to Torp, has a runway of only about 1,400 m, which suits a turboprop or a small jet and rules out a larger cabin;
– With a dog or cat aboard the stops come in a fixed order. Norway admits an animal from Britain at Oslo Gardermoen or at Storskog and nowhere else, which puts Gardermoen first and Torp second.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Sandefjord:
Light jets, for a quick coastal trip
The sector is short enough that a small cabin costs nothing in comfort. Up to five people with weekend bags are well served, and it is the cheapest sensible way to reach the coast.
Midsize, for golf, sails and a full family
Golf bags, sailing gear, school-holiday luggage and a team's equipment are what push a party out of a light jet and into a bigger hold.
Super-midsize and large
For a delegation that wants to arrive as one group, for a cabin that doubles as an office, and for trips that continue from Torp to Stockholm, Copenhagen or the Arctic.
Turboprops
The aircraft for short Scandinavian hops. Oslo, Gothenburg and Stavanger are all within the hour, and small airstrips with short runways take a turboprop more readily than a jet.
Helicopters
For the last stretch, not the flight from Britain: islands, a boat harbour or a lodge on the fjord. The landing site is agreed before the quote, because helicopters may not land everywhere on the coast.

The cards show only a sample of the fleet. Torp is central to the Scandinavian fleet, with Oslo, Gothenburg and Stavanger inside an hour, so a suitable aircraft is often waiting close by, and that is usually where a better price comes from.

Business aviation airports in Sandefjord
Only Torp is a real choice for a jet. The others are on the far side of the fjord, too short, or gone altogether, and two of them appear on quotes more often than they should.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Sandefjord Airport, Torp TRF / ENTO |
The answer for almost every trip to this coast. One runway, 18/36, of about 2,950 by 45 metres, with an instrument landing system at both ends, set about 10 km from the middle of Sandefjord. The airport is owned by the municipality, the county and an investment company, and it works as a low-cost airline airport with a general aviation area on the north side of the terminal. Executive handling is by Access Oslo from its own terminal on Hangarveien, and Sundt Air Executive Handling is also listed. Handling is listed as compulsory, slots and prior permission are listed as required, and customs is on site |
| Oslo Gardermoen OSL / ENGM |
The airport for the capital and for animals. Two runways of 3,600 and 2,950 metres, about 35 km north-east of central Oslo, customs and handling at a general aviation terminal on the west side, where Access Oslo and Sundt Air both have their desks. Movements are restricted between 23:00 and 06:00. It is 68 nautical miles from Torp, about 35 minutes in a turboprop, and it is the point of entry a dog or cat from Britain must use |
| Skien Geiteryggen SKE / ENSN |
A general aviation field about 39 km from Torp in a straight line and 5.5 km south-west of Skien, with a single asphalt runway of 1,416 by 30 metres and no scheduled flights. It is cleared for international flights, so it is the sensible landing for Telemark and Grenland and a diversion if the weather closes in at Torp, for turboprops and small jets |
| Tønsberg Jarlsberg ENJB |
A private general aviation strip at Sem, about 14 km from Torp in a straight line, with a runway of only 800 by 18 metres. It serves gliders, light aircraft and parachutists and is not a business jet airfield. The jet for Tønsberg lands at Torp, and the town is a short drive away |
| Moss Rygge ENRY |
Used for low-cost airline flights until it closed to civil traffic. The armed forces now run the runway, with helicopter and Falcon 20 squadrons based there, so it is not an option for a charter unless an operator can show written permission, and we do not plan around it |
| Oslo Fornebu ENFB |
Gone. Oslo's old airport on the Fornebu peninsula closed when Gardermoen opened, so a quote that mentions it, or a client who remembers it as the handy one, is out of date |
Four points settle most arrivals at Torp:
Choose the terminal
Executive handling at Torp is by Access Oslo, whose private terminal on Hangarveien has a passenger lounge, a crew lounge and meeting rooms, and its site lists the facility as pet friendly. Sundt Air Executive Handling is also listed for the airport. Use of the handler is listed as compulsory, so we settle it together with the slot and put the operator's preference to the airport in writing.
Hours, slots and prior permission
The airport lists slots as required and prior permission for every flight, and customs asks for 90 minutes' notice for a non-scheduled arrival. The airline terminal is closed overnight, and the tower hours in the listings we checked are not round the clock, so a late landing or an early start is something we confirm with the airport in writing before the quote is final.
Border and passport
Passport control happens at the first Norwegian landing, because Norway is part of Schengen and Britain is not, and customs checks come with it, because Norway stays outside the EU. British passport holders need no visa for a short visit, with a passport issued less than ten years before entry and valid for three months beyond departure. Goods worth up to NOK 6,000 (about £450) come in duty-free after a stay of more than 24 hours abroad, and cash from NOK 25,000 (about £1,900) is declared.
Car and the road
The town is about 10 km away and a taxi rank sits at the airline terminal, but a private party arranges the car with the handler and gives the handler's name to the driver. For Oslo, the road is about 110 km and the airport quotes about an hour and a half by train. We book the car together with the aircraft.

Passport, customs and the way home
The first landing in Norway is the border, and the first landing is usually Torp, where customs and the police are on site. Any later hop to Oslo or Stavanger is a domestic flight and passes without another check. Goods are inspected as well as passports, since Norway is not in the EU: the value limit and the quotas for alcohol, tobacco and food apply to every passenger, and anything doubtful is declared. A small warning for a whaling town: British guidance says that bringing whale meat into the UK from Norway is illegal, and it is better to leave the souvenir on the shelf. Coming home is governed by the British side. The operator files the General Aviation Report with the border authorities in the window from 48 hours to two hours before departure. British and Irish citizens need no electronic travel authorisation; for a passenger of any other nationality we check whether one is required before the date is fixed.

From the apron to the Whaling Museum
Sandefjord is a town of about 67,000 people on the western shore of the Oslofjord, built on the whaling fleets that sailed to the Antarctic and made it one of the richest places in Norway. The Whaling Museum, the only one of its kind in Europe, keeps the whale catcher Southern Actor at its wharf and a full-size model of a blue whale hanging in one gallery. In the middle of town the Kurbad, a wooden spa building in the style of a dragon, now holds a café, a bar and a gallery. The Gokstad ship itself lies in Oslo, but the mound it was dug out of is on a farm in Sandefjord. Torp serves the whole coast, and the table gives the distances that matter.

Flying to Sandefjord with a dog or a cat
Norway has its own animal rules, because it sits outside the EU, and one of them settles the route of the whole flight. Norwegian customs admits a dog or cat from Britain only at Oslo Airport Gardermoen or at the Storskog crossing near Kirkenes, so Torp cannot be the first landing. The animal rides in the cabin with the family, and the onward hop from Gardermoen is short enough that it barely registers.

What the Norwegian side asks for:
- A microchip, though an older, clearly readable tattoo is still accepted on some animals;
- A rabies vaccination, and for an animal from outside the EU and the EEA a blood test proving that the vaccine protects, unless the country of departure is on the list that is exempt from the test. The Norwegian Food Safety Authority, Mattilsynet, rules on your case and we pass its answer to you in writing;
- A health certificate for animals from outside the EU and the EEA;
- For dogs, treatment against the fox tapeworm with a product containing praziquantel or epsiprantel, given by a veterinarian within the 24 to 120 hours before arrival in Norway and recorded in the pet's documents. Cats are no longer included;
- Notice to Mattilsynet at least 48 hours before arrival, entry through Gardermoen or Storskog, and the red channel at customs when an animal is aboard;
- Certain dog breeds need a special permit from the police.
What catches owners out on the way to Torp
– Gardermoen is a genuine landing, not a formality. The animal and its papers are presented there, then the aircraft continues to Torp on a domestic leg of 68 nautical miles. That adds a take-off, a landing and some time on the ground, and all of it goes into the quote from the start;
– The tapeworm treatment is timed once. It falls in the 24 to 120 hours before entry to Norway, so a dog visits a British vet before the outbound flight, and the direct flight home needs no treatment unless the dog has been in another country or the routing includes one;
– A dog on a coastal holiday is perfectly ordinary, yet the boat, the hotel and any helicopter each decide separately whether to take it, so those answers come before the date is fixed.
Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide. On the way back a dog flying directly from Norway to Britain needs no tapeworm treatment, which becomes necessary only if it has been elsewhere or the routing includes another country, and before the flight we confirm in writing the entry point, the routing and the paperwork for the animal.
The Vestfold calendar: bathing season, medieval June and classical July
Vestfold lives by its summer. Sandefjord calls itself the Bathing City, with a coastline of 146 km and about 124 islands, and the peak weeks for private flights follow the water and a handful of festivals. In winter the place goes back to business.
Why a summer weekend costs more
The flying itself costs the same. What tightens is Torp's slot and handling capacity, the apron space of a single terminal and a coast where the good boats, rooms and restaurants all fill at once. A request sent two weeks before a medieval or classical weekend can still be met, at a higher price and perhaps with an aircraft brought across from Oslo or Gothenburg. Sent five or six weeks ahead, the same trip is simpler and cheaper. Outside those dates the coast is easy to reach, and a charter can usually be arranged in a day or two.
Ways to bring the Sandefjord price down
- Fly midweek where you can. A Tuesday arrival and a Thursday return cost less than the Friday and Sunday pair, because the same aircraft is not wanted by everyone else;
- Ask where the aircraft sleeps. A jet based at Gardermoen, Gothenburg or Stavanger flies a short positioning leg, and one coming up from the south of England carries the full distance into your price;
- Take the light jet unless the baggage argues against it. A small party with modest bags does not need a midsize cabin, and the difference in price covers the car and a day on the water.
Types of flights
Requests for Sandefjord look unlike those for the Alps or the Mediterranean, because the place is a small maritime town on a long coast with the capital up the fjord.
- Business visits to a shipping and maritime town: meetings fixed in the diary, a small team, and the wish to sleep at home;
- Summer weekends on the Vestfold coast, with a boat, a holiday house or a stay at a hotel in Tønsberg, Sandefjord or Stavern;
- Culture weekends built around the medieval festival in June and Fjord Classics in July;
- Trips that finish south of Oslo, in Telemark or on the outer fjord, where Torp is closer to the final destination than Gardermoen;
- Ferry connections, with Color Line sailing from Sandefjord to Sweden and car ferries from Larvik to Hirtshals in Denmark, for a party that carries on by sea.
You can do it in a day. Leave at seven, land around ten local time, take off again at five, and you have about seven hours on the coast and are back in Britain shortly before six. The crew stays with the aircraft, and its waiting time is billed; even so the total usually undercuts two one-way charters, and we quote both so that you can compare.
Empty Legs
A jet sometimes flies a sector with no one aboard because its next job starts elsewhere, and the operator prefers to sell the seats cheaply to flying them empty. That is an empty leg. A few patterns produce them around Torp.
Where Sandefjord empty legs come from
– Summer and festival weekends. Guests arrive by jet on the Friday and the aircraft goes home empty on the Sunday, so the Sunday evening leg towards London or Scotland is the one most often offered;
– Scandinavian rotation. Operators moving between Gothenburg, Oslo, Stavanger and Copenhagen put short legs on the market that start or end at Torp, and those hops can be cheap;
– Repositioning after a delegation. A jet that has brought a team for a day of meetings flies home empty, and the return sector is sold at a reduced price.
Compared with the busiest London routes this corridor has few empty legs, and a client who offers a spread of days has a much better chance than one who insists on a single evening. The terms never change: the operator controls the date and the hour, and a leg can disappear if the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Sandefjord match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
On this coast a helicopter earns its place by reaching an island or a quay that the road does not, not by crossing a city. Torp's general aviation area is a base for helicopter and light aircraft operators, and the Scramble airfield guide lists a European Helicopter Centre there with Airbus AS350 and AS355 machines, a Bo105 and Robinson types, and Hesnes Air with an AS350B and an MD500. The distances are short, and the figures below are straight-line flights at a typical helicopter speed, with a few minutes for take-off and landing.
the old town below the fortress hill, with a landing site agreed in advanceabout 11 minutes
the islands at the mouth of the Oslofjord, with the Færder national park to the east, mostly sea and skerriesabout 11 minutes
the harbour of Larvik and the old naval town of Stavern a little further southabout 15 minutes
the gateway to the inland lakes and mountains, 37 km from Torp in a straight lineabout 18 minutes
Before you plan around a helicopter
– The sites are the issue. A helicopter may not land everywhere on the coast, and landing on an island or a private quay needs the owner's consent, so the site is agreed before the quote and not on the day;
– The sea sets the timetable. Low cloud or wind over the outer fjord can stop a helicopter while the jet lands without trouble, so a coastal day needs a road or boat alternative;
– Distances are so short that a helicopter often competes with a car and a boat, and the aircraft earns its place only when the party has a tight schedule or a place that the road does not reach.
For coastal work the usual choices are the single-engine Airbus H125, the roomier H130, the twin H135 or Bell 429, and the H155 for a bigger party. We book the helicopter with the jet, so both crews fly to one timetable.

Sandefjord charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
DAY TRIP · OUT AND BACK
A morning on the coast and home for the evening
London City - Sandefjord and return, Citation CJ3+, about 1 h 50 min each way · 4 pax
The party left London at seven and was at Torp by ten local time, where a car stood at the terminal door. Aircraft and crew stayed on the ground all day. That is a real charge, yet it still came in under two separate one-way charters. Departure was at five, and everyone was home before six.
MEDIEVAL JUNE · A LONG WEEKEND
Six people for the festival at Tønsberg
Farnborough - Sandefjord, Phenom 300E, about 1 h 45 min · 6 pax
A weekend around the medieval market on the fortress hill, with one day set aside for a boat among the islands. The request came six weeks ahead, early enough to hold the slot and a car in a busy June. Ten days out the same weekend would have cost noticeably more.
SHIPPING AND MARITIME · FIXED DATES
Eight people, two days of meetings
London Luton - Sandefjord, Citation XLS+, about 1 h 45 min · 8 pax
The meetings fixed the dates, not the client. Eight people with laptops and printed folders asked for a car at the aircraft door. Passport formalities were handled at the handler's terminal, the group had been briefed on the customs allowance before leaving Britain, and nobody waited in a line.
SAILING WEEKEND · A BOAT AT THE QUAY
Six friends and a charter yacht
Birmingham - Sandefjord, Citation XLS+, about 1 h 45 min · 6 pax
The boat was waiting in the harbour and the jet's timing was fitted around the tide and the yacht's skipper. Sails and bags filled the midsize hold; a light jet would have been tight. The group sailed along the outer coast for two days and flew home on the Sunday evening.
AN ANIMAL ABOARD · VIA GARDERMOEN
Three adults and a retriever for a long weekend
Manchester - Oslo - Sandefjord, Phenom 300E · 3 pax + dog
Torp is not an entry point for animals from Britain, so the jet touched down at Gardermoen for the animal's inspection and flew on to Sandefjord. The tapeworm treatment was dated inside the permitted window, and the direct flight home needed none. The hotel had agreed to the dog in advance.
EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY EVENING WEST
A jet already going your way
Sandefjord - London Stansted, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 1 h 40 min · 3 pax
The jet had delivered a weekend party and was returning without passengers. The client offered a three-day window rather than one date, which is the secret of these deals, and paid far less than a fresh one-way charter would have cost for a Sunday evening.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Sandefjord
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Sandefjord?
About 1 hour 50 minutes from London City or Biggin Hill in a light jet, and around 1 hour 40 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes from Luton or Farnborough in a Phenom, covering roughly 590 to 630 nautical miles. From Manchester allow about 1 hour 35 minutes, and from Edinburgh or Aberdeen 1 hour 35 minutes or 1 hour 25 minutes. Local time in Norway is an hour ahead, so a seven o'clock departure lands around ten.
2How much does a private jet to Sandefjord cost?
A light jet costs from £8,700 one way out of London City and £8,800 from Biggin Hill. Expect £8,650 to £9,100 for a Phenom from Luton or Farnborough, £10,700 for a midsize cabin from Birmingham and £11,800 from Bristol, while Aberdeen starts at £6,700 on a light jet. Midsummer weekends and the Fjord Classics days in early July can price above these figures.
3Which airport should a private jet use for Sandefjord?
Sandefjord Airport, Torp (TRF / ENTO), about 10 km from the town. It has one runway of about 2,950 m, customs on site and executive handling by Access Oslo, with Sundt Air Executive Handling also listed. Handling is listed as compulsory, with slots and prior permission listed as required. Oslo Gardermoen is the choice for a meeting in the capital and the entry point for animals, and Skien Geiteryggen has a runway of only about 1,400 m.
4Is Oslo close enough to reach from Torp?
By road Torp is about 110 km from Oslo, and the airport quotes about an hour and a half by train. That suits a day on the Vestfold coast better than a meeting in central Oslo. If the day is in the capital, the aircraft should land at Gardermoen, which is about 35 km north-east of the centre, and a trip with both can be one booking with two landings.
5When should I book a private jet to Sandefjord?
In the quiet months a day or two will do. The medieval weekends of June, Fjord Classics in early July and the best bathing weekends call for four to six weeks, since slots, the handler, hotels, boats and cars all tighten together and a last-minute request often means paying for a jet brought from Oslo or Gothenburg.
6Can I take my dog to Sandefjord on a private jet?
Yes, though the aircraft must call at Oslo Gardermoen first. The dog sits in the cabin with you. Norway wants a microchip, a rabies vaccination, a health certificate, notice to the Norwegian Food Safety Authority at least 48 hours before arrival, a vet-given tapeworm treatment within the 24 to 120 hours before arrival, and entry through Gardermoen or Storskog; a rabies blood test may be added, and the Norwegian Food Safety Authority confirms that for your dates. A dog returning directly from Norway to Britain needs no further tapeworm treatment, unless it has been in another country or the routing includes one, while cats are exempt.
