Private jet charter to Sweden

Private Jets UK flies clients from Britain into Sweden, where the useful airport depends less on the city than on the latitude, and where the cheapest departures are from the east coast of Britain rather than from London. Our customers have access to 6500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. For 15 years of successful work, we have established partnerships with the world’s largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you the most favorable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. The aircraft we put on these routes sit at the London fields and at Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Newcastle, and the eastern bases matter here because the North Sea crossing starts from them.

private jet charter

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Sweden depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.

You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:

  • using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
  • via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
  • by landline or cell phone;
  • via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).

Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated based on the following data: departure from Norwich Airport, a Citation M2, two passengers. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.

How long does it take to fly to Sweden?

Sweden is not one flight time but a range, and the range is wide. These are the figures gate to gate:

Norwich to Malmo
458 nautical miles, the shortest crossing into Sweden we fly
about 1 h 25 min
Aberdeen or Newcastle to Gothenburg
468 and 490 nautical miles across the North Sea
1 h 25 to 1 h 30 min
London to Malmo or Gothenburg
534 and 541 nautical miles
1 h 35 to 1 h 40 min
Aberdeen to Stockholm
646 nautical miles to Bromma
about 1 h 50 min
London to Stockholm
746 nautical miles to Bromma and 770 to Arlanda
about 2 h 05 min
London to Kiruna
1,131 nautical miles, above the Arctic Circle
about 3 h

The south of Sweden is a different trip from the north

Malmo is an hour and twenty-five minutes from Norwich and Kiruna is three hours from London. Those are not variations on one journey, they are two different bookings with two different aircraft, and within the table below alone the price more than doubles from top to bottom. The first question we ask about a booking here is never which airport but how far north, because everything else follows from the answer.

The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

Two things worth knowing about these figures

– The country is long. From Luton it is 534 nautical miles to Malmo and 770 to Arlanda, so where you are going inside Sweden changes the aircraft before it changes anything else;

– Two Stockholm airports appear in this table and they are not interchangeable. Which one suits your trip is the subject of the airport section below, and it is worth reading before settling on either.

Private jet flights within Sweden

Sweden runs 1,570 kilometres from Malmo to the top of Lapland, and the railway thins out well before the map does. That is what internal private jet flying here is for:

Arlanda - Kiruna

Two things worth knowing about the internal sectors

– The Arctic north is a second journey rather than an extension of the first one, and the aircraft is chosen for it separately rather than carried over from the British leg;

– The northern legs run out of Arlanda rather than Bromma, because they want the hours and the runway. Those aircraft reposition constantly, and that is where the empty legs on Nordic routes come from.

Prices depending on the type of business jet

We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

  • Large jet (similar to Legacy 600) - from 5800 to 6800 EUR per flight hour;
  • Business liners - from 12100 EUR per flight hour;
  • Light jet - from 2500 to 3500 EUR per flight hour;
  • Long-haul jet (similar to Global 5000, Gulfstream G550, Falcon 7X, etc.) - from 6800 to 10400 EUR per flight hour;
  • Medium-sized jet (identical to Cessna Citation XLS+, Hawker 800XP, etc.) - from 3500 to 4400 EUR per flight hour;
  • Turboprops - from 1000 EUR per flight hour.
  • Large medium-class jet (similar to Challenger 300, etc.) - from 5400 to 6500 EUR per flight hour;
  • Small jet, from 2000 to 2900 EUR per flight hour;

Private jets are ready to take off

Turboprops

The class that copes with the short northern strips and the winter surfaces, and the cheapest way to move inside the country. They handle a contaminated runway better than most jets do.

Business aviation airports in Sweden

Sweden has more airfields a private jet can use than any country of its population in Europe, because for much of the year and much of the map there is no faster way to move. These are the fields a private jet from Britain actually lands at:

Airport Ground How it operates
Stockholm Bromma
BMA / ESSB
8 km to the centre The business aviation field for Stockholm and the closest airport to any Nordic capital centre. A general aviation terminal, heated hangarage and a walk of a couple of minutes from apron to car. Scheduled traffic has all but left it, which has made it what it is
Stockholm Arlanda
ARN / ESSA
37 km to the centre The main gateway, open around the clock, taking anything flying. The answer whenever the aircraft is too large for Bromma, the hour is wrong or the trip continues north
Gothenburg Landvetter
GOT / ESGG
19 km to the centre The second city and the west coast industry. Gothenburg is appreciably nearer to Britain than Stockholm and takes any type at any hour
Malmo Sturup
MMX / ESMS
25 km to the centre The far south, and the closest Swedish field to Britain. Worth reading the note below before booking it, because Copenhagen is often the better arrival for the same destination
Are Ostersund
OSD / ESNZ
100 km to Are The ski country and the Jamtland mountains, and the field behind most of our Swedish winter traffic
Lulea and Umea
LLA and UME
the Gulf of Bothnia The northern industrial coast, the steel and battery investment belt, and the practical arrivals for Norrland. Umea serves the university and the coast
Kiruna
KRN / ESNQ
the Arctic Above the Arctic Circle, and the field for the ice hotel, the aurora season and the mining business. Two hours north of Stockholm by air, with the aurora season running from September through March
Visby
VBY / ESSV
4 km to the town Gotland, and a genuinely seasonal field: quiet for ten months and full during Almedalen week and the summer

Bromma is the closest thing in the Nordics to a city airport, and it has conditions

Eight kilometres from the middle of Stockholm against thirty-seven for Arlanda is a difference of about forty minutes at each end of the day. What Bromma asks in return is a smaller aircraft and a tighter clock: the runway is 1,668 metres, which suits everything up to a super-midsize cabin and rules out the heavy ones, and the field keeps fixed hours with no extensions for a late departure. Scheduled airlines have almost entirely moved to Arlanda, which has left Bromma doing what it does best. Its long-term future is a live political question in Stockholm rather than a settled matter, so we confirm it is open for your dates rather than assuming.

For Malmo, the Danish airport is usually nearer

Malmo Sturup sits twenty-five kilometres from the city it is named after. Copenhagen Kastrup, on the other side of the Oresund bridge, sits twenty-two, and it is a far busier field with round the clock handling. For a meeting in Malmo or anywhere in Skane, we will usually quote Kastrup and the bridge unless there is a reason not to. It is a border crossing on paper and a toll road in practice, and both countries are in Schengen. Our Denmark page covers that airport in detail.

BorderSweden is in the EU and Schengen; an arrival from Britain still clears both passports and customs, handled at the FBO in minutes
CurrencyThe krona rather than the euro, and Swedish handling sits above the European average
Bromma hoursShorter at weekends than on weekdays, so a Sunday departure wants confirming
ArlandaRound the clock, and the answer for anything Bromma cannot take
WinterDe-icing is routine from November to March and adds time as well as cost
DaylightKiruna sees no sun for around a month in midwinter, which compresses the northern flying day

Which airport for which part of Sweden

Sweden is long enough that the arrival field matters more here than in most of Europe. These are the pairings behind most of our bookings here:

Central Stockholm and the business district
if the aircraft fits the runway and the hour fits the schedule
Bromma, 8 km
Stockholm at any hour, or a large cabin
and the departure point for everything north of the capital
Arlanda, 37 km
The west coast and the motor industry
Volvo, the port and the shipping business, and nearer to Britain than Stockholm
Gothenburg, 19 km
Skane and the far south
over the bridge, and usually a better arrival than the Swedish field of the same name
Copenhagen Kastrup, 22 km
Skiing and the mountains
the winter season proper, from December through to April
Are Ostersund
The Arctic and the aurora
the season runs from September through March and books out early
Kiruna

Lapland is a second flight, not a leg of the first one

Stockholm to Kiruna is 495 nautical miles. London to Gothenburg is 541. Clients regularly ask to add two nights in Lapland to a Stockholm trip and are surprised by what that involves, because on the map it looks like a hop up the coast. It is entirely doable and we arrange it through the whole aurora season, but it is a second charter with its own planning rather than a detour: the Arctic fields work to their own hours, the weather turns faster and an alternate has to be held. We would rather set that out when quoting than halfway through the itinerary.

Three things that shape a Swedish booking

– Winter is a season here rather than an off-season. The aurora runs from September to March and the Lapland fields are busiest in the darkest months;

– De-icing adds both cost and time to a winter departure, and on a tight turnaround it is worth building into the schedule rather than discovering on the day;

– Almedalen week on Gotland and the midsummer weekend fill the aprons at Visby and around Stockholm. Those dates want booking months rather than weeks ahead.

Flying to Sweden with a dog or a cat

Sweden is straightforward for an animal travelling by private jet and the paperwork is the standard European set, but it is worth knowing that the country ran one of the strictest quarantine regimes in Europe until relatively recently and the habits of that era still show at the border.

The one fact to read before you book

Sweden is a listed country, so coming home to Britain needs no rabies blood test and no waiting period. An Animal Health Certificate from an Official Veterinarian, dated within ten days of travel, covers the outbound leg and stays valid for return journeys for six months. Dogs need a tapeworm treatment on the way back, given by a Swedish vet between one and five days before departure. What Sweden adds is a customs declaration on arrival: the animal is registered rather than waved through, and while it takes minutes it is checked. Local practices are efficient and the appointment is rarely difficult, but we book it alongside the flight rather than leaving it to the hotel.

  • An ISO-standard microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination rather than after;
  • Rabies vaccination at least 21 days old on the day you land, given when the animal was at least 12 weeks;
  • An Animal Health Certificate dated no more than ten days before travel;
  • Tapeworm treatment for dogs on the homeward leg;
  • A customs declaration on arrival in Sweden, which most European destinations do not ask for;
  • Up to five animals per booking without commercial documentation.

Cats need the list without the worming. The flight itself is easy: between an hour and a half and two hours from London depending on how far north you land, no hold and no weight limit, so a large dog travels exactly as a small one does. The one practical point is winter, when a Swedish apron in January is severe enough that the car meets the aircraft rather than waiting at the terminal.

Customs declaration
the animal is registered rather than walked through, unlike most of the EU
required on arrival
Worming
a Swedish vet, one to five days before the return flight
on the homeward leg only
Flight time from London
long enough that an animal settles properly rather than only just
1 h 35 to 2 h 05
Winter apron
the constraint here is the opposite of a Mediterranean booking in August
cold rather than hot

Requirements for birds, rabbits and the less usual species, along with the countries where the timeline runs to months, are set out on our flying with pets guide.

private flight with animals

Empty Legs

Another way to fly cheaper is to use Empty Legs. This service allows you to save on regular charter rates. As you know, part of the flights is one-way (for example, when the passenger flies from England to Sweden). After the flight, the jet returns to its home base (for example, to London Farnborough airport) empty. Such flight is called “Empty Legs”. Empty leg flights can be as cheap as 50-75% off the standard charter price. This option is profitable for both the passengers and the charter companies. The clients can enjoy the services of business aviation at a very good price, while the airlines recoup part of the cost of fuel and jet maintenance.

It is almost impossible to find Empty Leg flights, as the information about them is stored in special databases available only to the aviation brokers and specialized companies. You should know that Empty Leg flights offer the same service as private jet charters. The passengers enjoy a 100% private jet flying experience. Services and flight conditions are discussed individually. We should note that our company cooperates with the world’s largest home bases, so we can offer our clients a wide choice of return flights. Just send a request to our manager who will help you find the best flight options. Please note that Empty Leg flights are sold out very quickly. A selection of empty legs that have run on the Swedish routes recently. Dates are left off, since a leg lasts only until somebody claims it:

Route Aircraft Capacity Whole aircraft
Sweden (Malmo) - UK (Norwich) Cessna Citation M2 7 seats 4,100 EUR
UK (Norwich) - Sweden (Gothenburg) Cessna Citation CJ3+ 7 seats 4,400 EUR
Sweden (Gothenburg) - UK (Newcastle) Cessna Citation CJ4 Gen2 8 seats 4,800 EUR
UK (Edinburgh) - Sweden (Gothenburg) Embraer Phenom 300E 8 seats 5,100 EUR
Sweden (Gothenburg) - UK (London Stansted) Bombardier Learjet 75 Liberty 8 seats 5,500 EUR
UK (Aberdeen) - Sweden (Stockholm Bromma) Cessna Citation XLS+ 9 seats 6,300 EUR
Sweden (Stockholm Bromma) - UK (London Stansted) Embraer Praetor 600 9 seats 7,300 EUR
Sweden (Stockholm Arlanda) - UK (London Luton) Bombardier Challenger 350 9 seats 8,100 EUR

How to read those figures

– Each price is for the whole aircraft rather than per seat. A Challenger 350 home from Arlanda at 8,100 EUR carrying nine works out at nine hundred a head for a two hour sector;

– Set each line beside the same class in the tables above. A Citation XLS+ into Bromma at 6,300 EUR against 15,100 for a fresh charter out of Aberdeen is the saving in plain terms;

– Swedish legs come up on weekdays rather than at weekends, because the traffic that creates them is corporate. A client who can move a meeting by a day sees considerably more of them.

Jet Sharing

Today, Jet Sharing is just as popular as private jet charter. This service involves the joint rental of a business jet with other passengers (that is, the cost of the flight is divided equally between all passengers of a specific flight). This type of flight has become especially popular in the last few years. Many people like Jet Sharing because it allows you to enjoy all benefits of business aviation at favorable prices.

We should note that the number of passengers per Jet Sharing flight varies from 3 to 8, while the cost of the flight ranges from 1400 to 7100 euros (depending on the destination). This way, you can get a comfortable flight on a business jet (and maybe even meet new business partners) at a very good price. You can check out the schedule of Jet Sharing flights by filling in the online form or contacting our operators by phone or WhatsApp.

Main advantages of this service:

  • All privileges of business aviation, including the use of the business aviation terminal and the check-in 30 minutes before the flight, are retained;
  • You can also use the services of the VIP Lounge (included in the price of the flight);
  • No baggage restrictions;
  • Affordable price: jet sharing is much cheaper than private jet charter;
  • Pets can be carried directly in the aircraft cabin.

Our consultants will be happy to help you choose the best flight.

Helicopter charter

Alongside the private jet, the country uses the helicopter where the water and the snow between them make the road useless, which covers a good deal of the country:

Bromma to the Stockholm archipelago
thirty thousand islands, and most of the good houses have no road at all
15 to 30 minutes
Arlanda to central Stockholm
bought when the schedule is tight rather than when the road is slow
about 15 minutes
Gothenburg to the Bohuslan coast
the west coast islands and the summer sailing country
about 20 minutes
Ostersund to the Are ski slopes
and in season it saves the hour and a half of mountain road
about 25 minutes
Kiruna to the Lapland lodges
the aurora camps and the reindeer country, where the road is a winter track
30 minutes and up

The machines that work these routes

– Airbus H125 and Bell 407, the light singles behind the archipelago and mountain transfers;

– Airbus H145 twins, which Swedish operators favour on the water crossings and in poor winter weather;

– Airbus H130 for a party of six on the longer Lapland legs, where cabin noise starts to matter after half an hour.

Two points on Swedish rotary legs

– North of the Arctic Circle the winter legs run in twilight or full darkness for weeks at a time, which narrows both the operators and the hours available;

– Archipelago landing sites are plentiful and the owners are used to them, but midsummer weekend fills the good ones months ahead.

If you have any financial questions, feel free to contact our private aviation consultants.

If you need to book an urgent flight, please keep in mind that the bank transfer can take a few days. In such situations, we may need to involve our partner companies so that you can pay for your flight in cash. If you have any questions, you can contact your personal consultant 24/7.

What our clients say about flying to Sweden

A few words from people who have made these trips with us. First names only, and the wording is theirs.

BROMMA

“Eight kilometres instead of thirty-seven”

Stansted to Stockholm Bromma · Praetor 600 · Anders L.

“I had used Arlanda for years without knowing there was an airport inside the city. Eight kilometres instead of thirty-seven is forty minutes saved each way on a day trip, which is most of a meeting. The walk from the car park to the aircraft steps here takes half a minute. The one catch is the operating hours, which they told me about honestly and in advance, and we simply moved the return departure.”

THE BRIDGE

“They flew us to Denmark for a Swedish meeting”

Luton to Copenhagen · Citation CJ4 Gen2 · Helen P.

“The office is in Malmo. They explained that Kastrup is closer to it than the Swedish airport, works around the clock, and the bridge takes twenty minutes. On paper it looked odd; in practice it was flawless. The broker was in touch from the first call to touchdown, and the whole thing ran without a single seam. It is now the only way we do that trip.”

LAPLAND

“They told me the north was a separate charter”

Stansted to Kiruna · Challenger 605 · Marcus B.

“We wanted Stockholm and then the ice hotel, and I assumed the second part was a short hop. It is nearly five hundred miles, a separate flight with its own aircraft, and they said so at the quoting stage rather than after we had committed. Honest counting before the signature is rarer in this trade than it should be, and it is what keeps me with them.”

WEST COAST

“Gothenburg is much nearer than I thought”

Aberdeen to Gothenburg · Citation M2 · Struan MacK.

“Shipping business, and I had always flown via Stockholm. From Aberdeen it is under five hundred miles direct to Gothenburg and a smaller aircraft does it. I rang them midday and was in the air by early evening. I have no idea why nobody suggested it sooner.”

WITH THE DOG

“The customs step was the only surprise”

Edinburgh to Gothenburg · Phenom 300E · Kirsty and Nell

“Everything was the usual European paperwork except one thing: in Sweden the dog has to be declared on arrival. It took five minutes, but I would never have known. It was all arranged before departure, the briefing and the document instructions were completely clear, and at no point in the terminal was there a moment of uncertainty.”

EMPTY LEG

“Home from Arlanda at well under half”

Stockholm Arlanda to Luton · Challenger 350 · Philip R.

“They explained that Swedish legs surface midweek, because the traffic here is corporate: a Sunday was hopeless, a Wednesday was likely. An option appeared inside a fortnight. It was my first time flying privately this way, and the experience was incredible for a fraction of the price.”

Frequently asked questions about flying to Sweden

1How long does it take to fly to Sweden by private jet?

About an hour and forty minutes from London to Malmo or Gothenburg, and around two hours to Stockholm. From Aberdeen or Newcastle allow an hour and a half to Gothenburg. Kiruna in the Arctic runs to three hours from London, and to an hour and a half onward from Stockholm.

2How much does a private jet to Sweden cost?

From about 9,800 EUR one way from Norwich to Malmo on a light jet, and 10,600 EUR to Gothenburg. Stockholm from Aberdeen starts around 15,100 EUR, from Stansted around 17,400 EUR and from Luton around 19,500 EUR. Internal Swedish sectors start at about 2,600 EUR.

3Bromma or Arlanda for Stockholm?

Bromma if the aircraft fits and the hour suits: it is eight kilometres from the centre against thirty-seven for Arlanda, which is about forty minutes saved at each end. Its runway is 1,668 metres, so it takes up to a super-midsize cabin and no larger, and it keeps fixed hours with no extensions. Arlanda is open around the clock and takes anything.

4Is Malmo better served from Copenhagen?

Usually, yes. Copenhagen Kastrup is twenty-two kilometres from Malmo across the Oresund bridge, against twenty-five for the Swedish field of the same name, and Kastrup handles business aviation around the clock. Both countries are in Schengen, so the crossing is a toll road rather than a border formality.

5Can a private jet reach Swedish Lapland?

Yes, and it is a flight in its own right rather than a hop. Kiruna is 495 nautical miles from Stockholm, which is further than Stockholm to Hamburg, and 1,131 from London. The aurora season runs from September through March and those weeks book early.
