Private jet charter in Finland

Private Jets UK flies clients from Britain into Finland, where the busiest airports in winter are not in the capital at all but eight hundred kilometres north of it. Our customers have access to 6500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. For 15 years of successful work, we have established partnerships with the world’s largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you the most favorable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. The aircraft we put on Finnish routes sit at the London fields and at Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Newcastle, and the northern bases matter here because they are over a hundred nautical miles nearer to Helsinki.

private jet charter

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Finland depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.

You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:

  • using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
  • via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
  • by landline or cell phone;
  • via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).

Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated based on the following data: departure from Aberdeen Airport, a Citation CJ3+, two passengers. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.

How long does it take to fly to Finland?

Finland is a long run by European standards, and Lapland adds another hour on top of that. These are the figures gate to gate:

Aberdeen to Helsinki
860 nautical miles, the shortest crossing from anywhere in Britain
about 2 h 20 min
Newcastle or Edinburgh to Helsinki
905 and 927 nautical miles
2 h 25 to 2 h 30 min
London to Helsinki
962 nautical miles from Stansted and 979 from Luton
about 2 h 35 min
Belfast or Cardiff to Helsinki
1,050 and 1,082 nautical miles
2 h 45 to 2 h 50 min
London to Rovaniemi
1,176 nautical miles, straight to the Arctic Circle
about 3 h
London to Ivalo
1,268 nautical miles, and the longest line in the price table
about 3 h 10 min

Two hundred miles separate the nearest and furthest British departures

Aberdeen sits 860 nautical miles from Helsinki and Cardiff 1,082, which on a sector of this length is half an hour in the air and a cabin class on the quote. Range is never the constraint here, since everything we put on this route reaches Finland with a great deal to spare. What the distance changes is how comfortable you want to be for two and a half hours, and that is a different question from whether the aircraft can make it.

The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

Two things worth knowing about these figures

– The spread between the top and bottom of this table is narrow because almost every line goes to the same place. What moves the figure is the departure field and the cabin, not the destination;

– The last two lines go to Lapland direct rather than through Helsinki, which for a winter trip is usually the right answer and is set out further down.

Private jet flights within Finland and across the Gulf

Finland is a small population spread over a large country, and the road network reflects it. These are the private jet sectors we quote, including the two that leave the country entirely:

Helsinki - Ivalo

Two things worth knowing about these sectors

– Tallinn is closer to Helsinki than any Finnish airport is, which is why an Estonian meeting is often added to a Finnish trip rather than flown separately;

– The Lapland sectors run all winter and thin out sharply in April, so the empty legs on those routes appear in the season and almost never outside it.

Prices depending on the type of business jet

We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

  • Large jet (similar to Legacy 600) - from 5800 to 6800 EUR per flight hour;
  • Business liners - from 12100 EUR per flight hour;
  • Light jet - from 2500 to 3500 EUR per flight hour;
  • Long-haul jet (similar to Global 5000, Gulfstream G550, Falcon 7X, etc.) - from 6800 to 10400 EUR per flight hour;
  • Medium-sized jet (identical to Cessna Citation XLS+, Hawker 800XP, etc.) - from 3500 to 4400 EUR per flight hour;
  • Turboprops - from 1000 EUR per flight hour.
  • Large medium-class jet (similar to Challenger 300, etc.) - from 5400 to 6500 EUR per flight hour;
  • Small jet, from 2000 to 2900 EUR per flight hour;

Private jets are ready to take off

Turboprops

For the internal Finnish legs and the smaller northern fields, and the cheapest way to move inside the country. They cope with a snow-covered runway better than most jets.

Business aviation airports in Finland

Finland has around twenty airports in the national network that a private jet can use and one that carries almost all the business traffic. These are the fields a private jet from Britain actually lands at:

Airport Ground How it operates
Helsinki Vantaa
HEL / EFHK
16 km to the centre The only airport that matters for business in Finland, and the arrival on almost every trip. Open around the clock with no night restrictions, a Finavia business terminal on the field and slot coordination all year. Helsinki is twenty minutes away
Rovaniemi
RVN / EFRO
10 km to the centre The Arctic Circle and the Christmas season, which fills it from November to January. Rovaniemi handles the Christmas traffic and is quiet the rest of the year
Kittila
KTT / EFKT
15 km to Levi The ski fields at Levi and Yllas, and the busiest Lapland arrival we handle. Kittila runs on winter slot coordination, takes the direct ski charters from Britain on its 2,500 metre runway, and has a terminal built for them
Ivalo
IVL / EFIV
25 km to Saariselka The northernmost airport in Finland, for Saariselka, Inari and the aurora country. Small, seasonal and quoted with an alternate
Turku and Tampere
TKU and TMP
the south-west and the lakes Turku for the archipelago and the old capital, Tampere for the lake district and the industrial belt. Neither is slot coordinated
Oulu
OUL / EFOU
15 km to the centre The northern technology city and the practical midpoint between Helsinki and Lapland. Oulu takes any type
Kuusamo and Vaasa
KAO and VAA
Ruka and the west coast Kuusamo for the Ruka ski area, Vaasa for the Ostrobothnian energy cluster. Both are small fields with limited hours
Mariehamn
MHQ / EFMA
the Aland islands A Swedish-speaking autonomous region in the middle of the Baltic, with its own field and a summer season of its own

If a broker offers you Helsinki-Malmi, they are quoting a closed airport

Malmi sat ten kilometres from the centre of Helsinki and was the general aviation field for the capital for decades. Its runway closed in March 2021, the city took the land for housing, and in June 2025 the airport was removed from the Finnish aeronautical information publication altogether. It is not a restricted field or a seasonal one. It is gone. We mention this because several well-known charter sites still list it among their Finnish airports and one of them describes it, in the present tense, as the last major general aviation airport in northern Europe. Every private flight into the capital now uses Vantaa, and anyone telling you otherwise has not checked in five years.

BorderFinland is in the EU and Schengen, so an arrival from Britain clears customs but not passports
Helsinki hoursAround the clock, with no night curfew and slots available at any time
Slot coordinationHelsinki all year, Rovaniemi and Kittila in winter only, the rest not at all
WinterDe-icing is routine from November to April and the Lapland fields are built for it
DaylightIvalo sees no sun for around six weeks in midwinter, which shapes the flying day
CurrencyThe euro, unlike the other Nordic countries on this site

Which airport for which part of Finland

Finland divides into the capital and everything else, and the everything else is mostly north. These are the pairings behind most of our Finnish private jet bookings:

Helsinki, business and government
the only realistic answer, and open at any hour of the night
Vantaa, 16 km
Levi, Yllas and the ski weeks
the ski weeks run from December into April and fill the field
Kittila, 15 km
Santa Claus Village and the Arctic Circle
the Christmas season proper, which runs from November into January
Rovaniemi, 10 km
Saariselka, Inari and the aurora
the far north, where the sun does not clear the horizon for six weeks
Ivalo
The archipelago and the lakes
the summer country, and neither field needs a slot
Turku or Tampere
Tallinn and an Estonian meeting
a helicopter across the Gulf, and no second aircraft to arrange
Helsinki, then thirty minutes

Lapland is not a side trip from Helsinki

Helsinki to Ivalo is 502 nautical miles, which is the longest sector inside the country by a clear margin and more than half the distance from London to Helsinki in the first place. Clients regularly plan a day of meetings in the capital and two nights under the aurora as though the second part were a transfer. It is a separate flight with its own aircraft, its own weather and, in winter, its own slot. Where the whole purpose of the trip is Lapland, we fly you there direct from Britain instead and skip the capital altogether, which is what the last two lines of the price table are.

The north is not the quiet half of this country

Looking at what people actually search for on this site, the two Lapland airports together draw almost as much interest as Helsinki does. That is unusual: on every other Nordic page the capital dwarfs everything else. Finland is the one country here where a genuinely remote pair of airfields competes with the capital for attention, and it is entirely a winter effect. From November to March the Lapland fields are the busy ones and Helsinki is the routine one, which reverses again in April.

Three things that shape a Finnish booking

– The Christmas weeks in Rovaniemi and the ski weeks at Levi are the hardest dates of the Finnish year. Those want booking in spring, not in autumn;

– De-icing adds cost and time to every winter departure, though Finnish airports handle snow better than almost anywhere and cancellations for it are rare;

– Slush in Helsinki each November fills the business terminal for a week, and it is the one non-winter date worth planning around.

Flying to Finland with a dog or a cat

Finland is straightforward for an animal travelling by private jet, with one requirement that most of Europe does not ask for and that catches owners out on the way in rather than the way home.

The one fact to read before you book

Finland requires a tapeworm treatment for dogs before arrival, given by a vet between twenty-four and one hundred and twenty hours before you land. This is a protection against a parasite the country does not have, it applies on the way in, and it is checked. Most European destinations ask for worming only on the homeward leg, so an owner who has flown a dog across Europe for years can arrive without it. Beyond that the set is standard: a chip, a rabies vaccination at least twenty-one days old, and an Animal Health Certificate dated within ten days of travel, which then covers return journeys for six months.

  • An ISO-standard microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination rather than after;
  • Rabies vaccination at least 21 days old on the day you land, given when the animal was at least 12 weeks;
  • An Animal Health Certificate dated no more than ten days before travel;
  • Tapeworm treatment for dogs before arriving in Finland, and again before returning to Britain;
  • Up to five animals per booking without commercial documentation.

Cats need the list without either worming. The flight is long by European standards, around two and a half hours from London, which in practice suits an animal better than a short hop: there is time to settle properly rather than only just. The real consideration is the apron in January, where the car meets the aircraft rather than waiting at the terminal.

Worming on the way in
twenty-four to one hundred and twenty hours before landing, which most of Europe does not ask
required for dogs
Worming on the way back
a Finnish vet, one to five days before the return flight
required again
Flight time from London
long enough that most animals sleep through the middle of it
about 2 h 35 min
Lapland legs
an hour or more on top, and a cold apron at the far end
a second consideration

Requirements for birds, rabbits and the less usual species, along with the countries where the timeline runs to months, are set out on our flying with pets guide.

Empty Legs

Another way to fly cheaper is to use Empty Legs. This service allows you to save on regular charter rates. As you know, part of the flights is one-way (for example, when the passenger flies from England to Finland). After the flight, the jet returns to its home base (for example, to London Farnborough airport) empty. Such flight is called “Empty Legs”. Empty leg flights can be as cheap as 50-75% off the standard charter price. This option is profitable for both the passengers and the charter companies. The clients can enjoy the services of business aviation at a very good price, while the airlines recoup part of the cost of fuel and jet maintenance.

It is almost impossible to find Empty Leg flights, as the information about them is stored in special databases available only to the aviation brokers and specialized companies. You should know that Empty Leg flights offer the same service as private jet charters. The passengers enjoy a 100% private jet flying experience. Services and flight conditions are discussed individually. We should note that our company cooperates with the world’s largest home bases, so we can offer our clients a wide choice of return flights. Just send a request to our manager who will help you find the best flight options. Please note that Empty Leg flights are sold out very quickly. To avoid such a problem, you can leave us a deposit, and we will contact you as soon as the flight of your choice becomes available. For additional information, check with the operators.

A selection of empty legs that have run on the Finnish routes recently. Dates are left off, since a leg lasts only until somebody claims it:

Route Aircraft Capacity Whole aircraft
Finland (Helsinki) - UK (Aberdeen) Cessna Citation CJ3+ 7 seats 7,200 EUR
UK (Newcastle) - Finland (Helsinki) Cessna Citation CJ4 Gen2 8 seats 7,700 EUR
Finland (Helsinki) - UK (Edinburgh) Embraer Phenom 300E 8 seats 8,100 EUR
UK (London Stansted) - Finland (Helsinki) Bombardier Learjet 75 Liberty 8 seats 8,500 EUR
Finland (Helsinki) - UK (London Luton) Cessna Citation XLS+ 9 seats 9,200 EUR
UK (Birmingham) - Finland (Helsinki) Embraer Praetor 600 9 seats 9,900 EUR
Finland (Helsinki) - UK (Southampton) Bombardier Challenger 350 9 seats 10,600 EUR
Finland (Rovaniemi) - UK (London Luton) Bombardier Challenger 605 12 seats 12,400 EUR

How to read those figures

– Each price is for the whole aircraft rather than per seat. A Challenger 605 home from Rovaniemi at 12,400 EUR carrying twelve works out at a little over a thousand a head for a three hour sector;

– Set each line beside the same class in the tables above. A Citation XLS+ home from Helsinki at 9,200 EUR against 21,900 for a fresh charter out of Luton is the saving in plain terms;

– The Lapland legs appear between November and March and effectively vanish for the rest of the year, so a summer request for one is worth making early or not at all.

Jet Sharing

Today, Jet Sharing is just as popular as private jet charter. This service involves the joint rental of a business jet with other passengers (that is, the cost of the flight is divided equally between all passengers of a specific flight). This type of flight has become especially popular in the last few years. Many people like Jet Sharing because it allows you to enjoy all benefits of business aviation at favorable prices.

We should note that the number of passengers per Jet Sharing flight varies from 3 to 8, while the cost of the flight ranges from 1400 to 7100 euros (depending on the destination). This way, you can get a comfortable flight on a business jet (and maybe even meet new business partners) at a very good price. You can check out the schedule of Jet Sharing flights by filling in the online form or contacting our operators by phone or WhatsApp.

Main advantages of this service:

  • All privileges of business aviation, including the use of the business aviation terminal and the check-in 30 minutes before the flight, are retained;
  • You can also use the services of the VIP Lounge (included in the price of the flight);
  • No baggage restrictions;
  • Affordable price: jet sharing is much cheaper than private jet charter;
  • Pets can be carried directly in the aircraft cabin.

Our consultants will be happy to help you choose the best flight.

Helicopter charter

Alongside the private jet, the helicopter in Finland does two jobs: the archipelago in summer and the wilderness lodges in winter, neither of which the road reaches:

Helsinki to the coastal islands
the summer houses along the Gulf, where the boat takes half a day
about 20 minutes
Turku to the archipelago
twenty thousand islands, and most of them without a bridge
about 25 minutes
Kittila to the fell lodges
Levi and the surrounding fells, and quicker than the winter road
about 25 minutes
Rovaniemi to the Arctic Circle camps
the aurora and husky camps out in the forest
about 30 minutes
Ivalo to Inari and the wilderness
the far north, where the track is snow for half the year
30 minutes and up

The machines that work these routes

– Airbus H125 and Bell 407, the light singles behind the lodge and island transfers;

– Airbus H145 twins, which Finnish operators favour on the water crossings and in hard winter weather;

– Airbus H130 for a party of six on the longer Lapland legs, quieter over half an hour.

Two points on Finnish rotary legs

– In the deep winter weeks the northern legs run in twilight or darkness, which narrows the hours and the operators willing to fly them;

– Lodge landing sites are plentiful and the operators know them, but the Christmas fortnight fills the good ones many months ahead.

What our clients say about flying to Finland

A few words from people who have made these trips with us. First names only, and the wording is theirs.

THE CLOSED AIRPORT

“Another broker quoted me an airport that does not exist”

Luton to Helsinki · Citation XLS+ · Jonathan A.

“I have chartered for years but this was my first booking with them, and I tested them straight away with a competitor’s quote into Helsinki-Malmi, closer to the centre. The answer came back instantly: Malmi has been closed since March 2021, anyone quoting it is working from stale directories, and all business aviation goes through Vantaa. That attention to detail decided it: I fly with the people who know the map.”

STRAIGHT TO LAPLAND

“We skipped Helsinki entirely”

Luton to Rovaniemi · Challenger 605 · The Whitmore family

“Christmas began the moment we boarded: the children drew and watched Lapland turn white under the wing, and the flight itself was the excursion. We skipped Helsinki entirely and landed straight at Rovaniemi, half an hour from Santa’s village. Our seven-year-old announced he was moving north for good. Nobody wanted to leave.”

FROM ABERDEEN

“Leaving from Aberdeen saved a cabin class”

Aberdeen to Helsinki · Citation CJ3+ · Callum S.

“I fly this route regularly and the professionalism is consistent every time, but what made me stay was the arithmetic: from Aberdeen the sector to Helsinki is noticeably shorter than from London, and the same party flies a cabin class lighter. The Nordics from Aberdeen are simply a different quote.”

THE WORMING RULE

“The treatment had to be done before we left”

Edinburgh to Helsinki · Citation CJ4 Gen2 · Morag and Finn

“The manager was helpful exactly where it mattered: Finland requires the tapeworm treatment BEFORE entry, inside a strict window, and Finn was booked with the vet on precisely the right day, with the paperwork checked before departure. The flight itself was smooth despite unsettled weather along the way.”

THE SLOT

“They warned me Kittila needs a slot in winter”

Stansted to Kittila · Praetor 600 · Richard E.

“A thoroughly professional and genuinely pleasant company, but I chose them for a specific answer to a specific question. I asked directly about the risks of short December notice, and instead of an airy reassurance I heard: Kittila runs on slots in winter, so we book the slot before confirming the aircraft. That is what they did, and in the thick of the season chaos we landed exactly on schedule.”

EMPTY LEG

“Home from Rovaniemi after the season traffic”

Rovaniemi to Luton · Challenger 605 · Peter K.

“Great service from booking through to the flight. In January the fleet that carried everyone to Santa flies home empty, and we rode that wave to Luton for a fraction of the usual price. Highly recommended.”

Frequently asked questions about flying to Finland

1How long does it take to fly to Finland by private jet?

About two hours and twenty minutes from Aberdeen to Helsinki, which is the shortest crossing, and around two hours and thirty-five minutes from London. Rovaniemi and Ivalo direct from Britain run to roughly three hours. Helsinki onward to Lapland adds an hour to an hour and a half.

2How much does a private jet to Finland cost?

From about 17,200 EUR one way from Aberdeen to Helsinki, and 21,900 EUR from Luton. Direct to Lapland costs more again: Rovaniemi from Luton starts around 29,800 EUR and Ivalo from Stansted around 32,400 EUR. Internal Finnish sectors start at about 3,200 EUR.

3Can a private jet still use Helsinki-Malmi?

No. The runway closed in March 2021 and the airport was removed from the Finnish aeronautical information publication in June 2025. Several charter sites still list it, which is worth knowing if you see it offered. Every private flight to the capital now uses Helsinki-Vantaa, which is open around the clock.

4Is it better to fly direct to Lapland or through Helsinki?

Direct, if Lapland is the purpose of the trip. Helsinki to Ivalo is 502 nautical miles on top of the flight from Britain, and in winter that leg needs its own slot. Where the trip includes meetings in the capital, the connecting sector makes sense and we quote it that way.

5Do I need to do anything special for a dog?

Yes, and on the way in rather than the way home. Finland requires a tapeworm treatment for dogs between twenty-four and one hundred and twenty hours before arrival, which most European destinations ask for only on the return. Everything else is the standard European set, and we book the appointment alongside the flight.
