Private jet charter in Lithuania
A flight that leaves London at breakfast time reaches Lithuania before lunch, because the flying takes under three hours and the clocks on the ground run two hours ahead of Britain. Private Jets UK plans Lithuanian charters around that gain, and around a country that is small enough to cross in a few hours by road but has four airports where a business jet can land with customs on site. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. In Lithuania that means choosing between Vilnius, Kaunas, Palanga and Šiauliai for the purpose of the trip, agreeing the handler before the airport permission is requested, and keeping a second airport in reserve for the days when the first one is closed at short notice.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Lithuania depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from London City, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ to Vilnius and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Lithuania?
Lithuania keeps Eastern European Time, two hours ahead of Britain all year, so a flight that takes about two and a half hours lands with the arrival clock showing nearly five hours after take-off. These are the sectors from London City on a light jet, gate to gate:
822 nautical miles, the Baltic coast and the nearest Lithuanian airport to Britain, with a 2,280 metre runwayabout 2 h 20 min
900 nautical miles, the north of the country, a joint civil and military field with a 3,500 metre runwayabout 2 h 35 min
919 nautical miles, the second city, with a 3,250 metre runway and customs round the clockabout 2 h 35 min
961 nautical miles, the capital and the main gateway, with a VIP terminal and a 2,515 metre runwayabout 2 h 40 min
A day trip to Vilnius works better than the distance suggests
The sector to Vilnius is 2 h 40 min each way on a Citation CJ3+, and the arrival clock is two hours ahead. A wheels-up at seven therefore lands a little before noon in Lithuania, which leaves the afternoon for meetings and a departure at six that is back in London on the British clock at about half past six in the evening. It is a long day, but a perfectly workable one.
Departures from the north take longer. Manchester is 1,008 nautical miles from Vilnius against 961 from London City, and Edinburgh 1,015. The difference is ten to fifteen minutes on a light jet, and a strong westerly in winter can add more, which the quote reflects.
The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

Prices for the private jet flights to Lithuania
Typical private jet charter prices from Britain into Lithuania, listed cheapest first. Vilnius sets the entry price in this table, since it is the gateway most clients choose, and the figures then climb with the distance and the size of the cabin:

Two things worth knowing about these figures
– The Lithuanian end moves the price by hundreds of pounds, and by more than a thousand on the coast. Kaunas is 42 nautical miles closer to London City than Vilnius and Palanga is 139 closer, which on the same Citation CJ3+ is about £500 less into Kaunas and about £1,650 less into the coast. The cheaper airport only pays when the trip really ends near it;
– A quote for a Lithuanian airport lists the handler, airport charges and, in winter, de-icing as lines of their own. Because every non-scheduled arrival is subject to prior permission, a quote also assumes that the handler is appointed before the request goes in. When two quotes for the same route differ, the gap usually sits in those lines and not in the flying.
Private jet flights within Lithuania and to its neighbours
Lithuania is about 65,000 square kilometres, and its three big airports lie about 90 to 320 kilometres apart on the planned routing. A jet is the right tool for the neighbouring capitals and for the other side of the Baltic. These are the sectors we are asked for most, with the aircraft that fits each:

Two things worth knowing about the Baltic sectors
– A British aircraft cannot fly them. Carriage of passengers for payment between two airports inside the EU is reserved for operators licensed in the EU, so every row here is flown by an EU-registered aircraft, and the one that brought you from London will usually wait or reposition empty. We name the operator for each leg when we quote;
– Vilnius to Kaunas is the row nobody should book. The road takes about an hour and a direct train runs between the two cities, so the flight saves little once the transfers are counted. The sectors worth the money are the ones that cross a sea or a border: Riga, Tallinn, Warsaw, Gdansk and the Nordic capitals, all inside Schengen, so a hop to any of them involves no passport check on arrival.
We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Due to a large database of available business jets, we can help you find an optimal jet and crew. If you have any questions about the departure or the flight itself, you can ask them using the form below:
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Lithuania:
Turboprops
The aircraft for the Baltic hops, not for the flight from London, which runs past five hours at turboprop speed. Palanga and Kaunas both have runways of more than 2,000 metres, so the limit is range and not the strip.
Light jets
The class behind most London to Vilnius bookings, with four to six people. At 960 nautical miles the sector is comfortable for a light jet in summer, and a winter headwind is the only thing that can push it towards a fuel stop.
Super-midsize
Where departures from Scotland and Northern Ireland settle, and where a board of eight or nine lands. The extra margin is useful when the weather at Vilnius is poor and Kaunas becomes the alternate.
Heavy jets
For a delegation, a team or a family with staff. Vilnius, Kaunas, Palanga and Šiauliai all have runways of 2,280 metres or more, so the limits are the apron and the handler's stand allocation.
Ultra-long range
A range this long is wasted on a three-hour sector, so these are rare on the British run and turn up mostly when Lithuania is one stop on a longer itinerary.

Because Baltic sectors need an EU-registered aircraft, the quote for a multi-country trip often names Riga, Warsaw or Tallinn as the place the second aircraft starts from.

Business aviation airports in Lithuania
Lithuania has three international airports that handle business jets as a matter of routine, a fourth that is shared with an air base, and two coastal strips too short for anything but light aircraft. The details that matter are the approvals, the handlers and the winter facilities:
| Airport | Ground | How it operates |
|---|---|---|
| Vilnius VNO / EYVI |
about 6 km south of the centre | A 2,515 metre runway with an instrument approach to both ends. Customs, immigration, handling, fuel and de-icing are listed as available round the clock, and a VIP terminal with a conference centre stands apart from the main building. Prior permission is needed at least 24 hours ahead, and the entry mentions no slot system |
| Kaunas KUN / EYKA |
14 km from Kaunas, about 100 km from Vilnius | A 3,250 metre runway, the longest of the three international airports, with an instrument approach to both ends. Customs, handling, fuel and de-icing are listed round the clock. No hangar space is listed for visiting aircraft. The usual 24 hour permission applies, with no slots or curfew mentioned |
| Palanga PLQ / EYPA |
about 6.5 km from Palanga, 25 to 32 km from Klaipėda | A 2,280 metre runway with an instrument approach to runway 19 and a satellite approach to runway 01. Customs and handling are listed round the clock, a hangar takes visiting aircraft up to 5,700 kg, and birds on the coast are a seasonal hazard at dawn and dusk |
| Šiauliai SQQ / EYSA |
about 6.5 km from the city | A joint civil and military field with runways of 3,500 and 3,244 metres. Customs, handling and fuel are available on request round the clock, permission comes from the air base administration at least 24 hours ahead, and an overtime tariff applies outside the office day |
| Klaipėda and Nida airfields EYKL, EYNI |
on the coast | Strips of 500 and 790 metres for light aircraft up to 5,700 kg, daytime flying under visual rules only. Not an option for a business jet, and Palanga serves the same coast |
Four rules settle most Lithuanian arrivals before a quote goes out:
Prior permission, 24 hours
Every arriving non-scheduled or general aviation flight needs prior permission, requested at least 24 hours ahead once the ground handling has been arranged. At Šiauliai the permission comes from the air base itself.
The handler comes first
The airport entries say to coordinate with the ground handler before submitting the request. The ones named are Baltic Ground Services and Litcargus at Vilnius, Litcargus and Airo GH at Kaunas, and UAB Ground Handling Agency at Palanga.
Few restrictions, but read the winter ones
The entries for Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga mention no slot system. De-icing is listed round the clock at all three, and night noise rules at Vilnius govern reverse thrust and departures from runway 01.
Hangars are scarce
Kaunas lists no hangar space for visiting aircraft and Palanga's takes only aircraft up to 5,700 kg, so a long winter stay is planned on the apron or at another field.
Keep a second airport in the plan
Short-notice airspace restrictions caused by balloons drifting in from across the border have suspended operations at Vilnius for hours at a time, and Kaunas has been affected as well. Flights have been cancelled or sent elsewhere. Closures have lasted from an hour or two to a whole night, which is the reason we ask a client to name an alternate before departure: Kaunas, 100 km by road, or Riga, about 270 km away in a straight line. A return that must be made on a fixed day is planned with a margin, and the handler at the alternate is warned in advance.
Arriving from Britain: passports, customs and what to carry
Lithuania belongs to the European Union and to Schengen, and Britain belongs to neither. A private flight from London therefore arrives as a flight from outside both, and the border check takes place at the first Lithuanian airport you land at, whichever of the four it is. The paperwork splits into what the passenger carries and what the operator files.
British citizens may stay up to 90 days in any 180-day period without a visa; the passport must have been issued less than ten years before arrival and expire at least three months after the day you plan to leave the Schengen areaevery passenger, children included
a first-time visitor may be asked for a photograph and fingerprints, free of charge, and the record then stays valid for three years; children aged 11 or younger are photographed but not fingerprintedallow a few extra minutes
the British government's Lithuania entry advice does not mention the EU's online ETIAS authorisation; where it applies to a British passport on your date, we tell you before the offer, not on the apronwe check for your date
cash worth ten thousand or more in the EU's own currency is declared on entry, and meat and milk products cannot be brought into the EU, with narrow exceptions for baby food and medically required fooddeclare when in doubt
Permits, paperwork and the way home
The permit question has two answers. A private flight by an aircraft registered in a member state of ICAO, the international civil aviation body, needs no permission from the Lithuanian transport safety administration, because the national aviation guide exempts non-commercial landings. A charter booked through a broker is commercial, so a non-EU operator does need one, whether the flight comes from outside the EU or from another EU country, and the exemption mainly helps owners flying their own aircraft. The administration decides within five working days, and a permit is valid from four hours before to 48 hours after the stated departure time and cannot be extended, so a delayed trip means a new permit. The operator also needs its authorisation as a third-country operator from the European aviation safety agency. We handle the application with the operator and show it as a line in the quote.
On arrival the pilot hands in a general declaration and a passenger list in the international standard format, in English or Lithuanian. Coming home is a flight into Britain: a General Aviation Report goes to the border authorities not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departure, and British and Irish citizens need no electronic travel authorisation, while most other nationalities do. A passenger with another passport should tell us at the start.

Which airport for which part of Lithuania
The country is small, and the arrival airport is nearly always settled by one address: the hotel in the Old Town, the apartment on the Curonian Spit, the sanatorium in Druskininkai. These are the usual pairings, with straight-line distances where the road is not the point:
the Old Town, the offices of the New Town and the business park districts; the airport is about 6 km south of the centre and a direct train runs to the central station in roughly eight minutesVilnius
the island castle on Lake Galvė is about 28 km west of Vilnius, and the hillforts of Kernavė, a World Heritage site, lie about 35 km to the north-westVilnius
the second city and the Žalgiris Arena are close to their own airport, and Vilnius is about 100 km away by roadKaunas
the spa town lies roughly 100 to 110 km in a straight line from both Vilnius and Kaunas, so the airport follows the rest of the programme and the final stretch is a driveVilnius or Kaunas
Palanga is 6.5 km from the airport and Klaipėda 25 to 32 km; the Curonian Spit begins with a short ferry crossing from SmiltynėPalanga
the Hill of Crosses is about 12 km north of the city, so a pilgrimage or a day in the north is flown into Šiauliai itselfŠiauliai
a three-capital programme is easier as a one-way plan: land at Vilnius, leave from Riga or Tallinn, and let the aircraft repositionVilnius, then onward
Vilnius, Kaunas and the coast: what our clients go for
Vilnius is where most of the business is. The city has one of the largest and best preserved old towns in the region, an office district across the river around the Europa Tower, 148.3 metres high, and a corporate economy built on lasers, biotechnology and financial technology, with seven free economic zones around the country. Most trips we fly there are short and professional: a two-night stay, a conference, a visit to a plant, and a flight home that leaves from the same VIP terminal.
The second kind of trip is cultural. Trakai and its castle are 28 km from the capital, Kernavė 35 km, and the Old Town fills an unhurried weekend. In winter the lakes freeze from December to March, and a Christmas market runs from December into January.
Kaunas is a different city. It stands where the country's two largest rivers, the Nemunas and the Neris, meet, and its interwar modernist architecture was inscribed as a World Heritage site. The seventeenth-century Pažaislis monastery is one of the finest examples of Italian baroque in Lithuania, and the Žalgiris Arena, which opened as the largest indoor arena in the Baltic states, brings basketball crowds in the winter and spring.
The coast is the holiday end of the country. Palanga, the summer capital, has a beach about 18 km long, a pier of roughly 470 metres, the Amber Museum in a neo-Renaissance palace, and a long list of spa hotels. The Curonian Spit, reached through Klaipėda and the Smiltynė ferry, is a World Heritage site of dunes averaging 35 metres, with the town of Nida and the house of Thomas Mann.
In the south, Druskininkai is a spa town that has used its mineral waters for treatment since the late eighteenth century. It also has the Snow Arena, an indoor ski slope 460 metres long, which makes it a winter destination in a country with no mountains. In the north, the Hill of Crosses draws pilgrims from all over the world.
The Lithuanian year: ice, amber and long summer evenings
Lithuania has four proper seasons. The coast fills in summer, the capital works all year, and January and February are quiet but not closed:
January averages about -6 degrees in Vilnius and about -2.5 on the coast, the lakes freeze, and Christmas markets and the Vilnius Light Festival in January give the capital a season of its ownwinter
the Kaziukas fair and the Cinema Spring festival fall in March, the Night of Museums and Street Music Day in May, and the Baltic is still at about 2 degrees in February and 11 in Mayspring
the sea warms to about 16 degrees in June, 19 in July and 20 in August, Palanga is at its fullest, and the midsummer holiday on 23 and 24 June sends Lithuanians to the lakes and the coastsummer peak
the city festivals return: the Vilnius marathon, Sirenos and the Nations Fair in September, Vilnius Jazz in October and the Gastronomy Week in Novemberautumn
Birds and ice, the two operational seasons
The aeronautical entry for Palanga lists the bird hazard on the coast, strongest at sunrise and sunset, and a summer arrival or departure at either end of the day is planned with that in mind. In winter the problem is ice: de-icing is listed round the clock at Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga, but a morning departure after a freezing night still needs the handler's time, and a client with a fixed return in January or February should expect to be asked for the departure time early.
The Lithuanian calendar: state holidays, jazz and the song festival
The dated events are not many, and few of them stop an airport, but each moves hotels and cars:
What a Lithuanian event does to a flight plan
Event weeks do not close airports here. They fill the good hotels in Vilnius and Kaunas and the cars with drivers, and the 24 hour permission still has to be requested for each landing. The Song and Dance Festival is the exception, and a party that wants to see it books the hotel before the aircraft.

Flying to Lithuania with a dog or a cat
A dog or cat travels in the cabin and the paperwork is the ordinary European set. Two things need planning: the airport where the animal is presented, and the date of the dog's treatment before the journey home.
The one fact to read before you book
Lithuania admits pets from outside the EU only through designated travellers' points of entry. The list published by the European Commission names four airports: Vilnius, Kaunas, Palanga and Šiauliai. The Lithuanian veterinary service keeps its own, later version of the list, so we confirm in writing which airport receives the animal and tell the handler in advance. A pet that has not been vaccinated against rabies is not admitted at all, and the owner signs a declaration that the journey is not commercial.
On the way home the rule is British. A dog must be treated against tapeworm by a vet no less than 24 hours and no more than 120 hours before landing in Britain, and Lithuania is not exempt. An animal without the right paperwork can be held in quarantine for up to four months.
- An ISO-standard microchip, fitted before or at the same time as the rabies vaccination, because Lithuania does not accept a vaccination dated before the chip;
- A rabies vaccination given when the animal was at least 12 weeks old, with at least 21 days between the vaccination and travel;
- An Animal Health Certificate from an official vet, issued no more than ten days before arrival in the EU and valid for the return as stated on the certificate. A British pet passport cannot be used;
- No more than five animals per traveller, and more than that, or an animal travelling without its owner, is treated as a commercial consignment;
- For a dog, the tapeworm treatment described above. On a short trip the treatment can be given before leaving, as long as the dog lands back in Britain inside the same window.
Cats need the same list without the worming. If the party is landing at Palanga or Šiauliai with an animal, we ask the handler to confirm that the animal can be received on that day and at that hour.
Requirements for birds, rabbits and the less usual species, along with the countries where the timeline runs to months, are set out on our flying with pets guide.

Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. Lithuania produces them on a steady rhythm, because many trips there are one-way by nature.
Where Lithuanian empty legs come from
– Corporate trips to Vilnius that end the same evening: the aircraft either waits or leaves empty, and the leg back to Britain or to a neighbouring capital is the one most often offered;
– Summer weekends on the coast, when aircraft that brought a party to Palanga on a Friday return to London or Riga empty on the Saturday or the Monday;
– The weeks around the large events, such as the Song and Dance Festival and the Sea Festival in Klaipėda, when operators position aircraft for arrivals and send them home empty afterwards.
A client who can offer a few days has a far better chance of a match, though the operator owns the date and a leg can disappear when the original booking changes. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page. A selection of Lithuanian empty legs follows:
| Route | Aircraft | Capacity | Whole aircraft |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lithuania (Vilnius) - UK (London City) | Citation CJ3+ | 7 seats | £5,450 |
| UK (London Luton) - Lithuania (Vilnius) | Phenom 300E | 8 seats | £5,450 |
| UK (London Stansted) - Lithuania (Palanga) | Citation XLS+ | 9 seats | £5,800 |
| Lithuania (Palanga) - UK (Bristol) | Citation XLS+ | 9 seats | £6,500 |
| Lithuania (Kaunas) - UK (Southampton) | Citation XLS+ | 9 seats | £6,850 |
| Lithuania (Vilnius) - UK (Manchester) | Citation XLS+ | 9 seats | £7,000 |
| UK (Birmingham) - Lithuania (Vilnius) | Citation XLS+ | 9 seats | £7,000 |
| UK (Edinburgh) - Lithuania (Vilnius) | Challenger 350 | 9 seats | £8,750 |
How to read those figures
– Each price is for the whole aircraft rather than per seat. A Challenger 350 from Edinburgh to Vilnius with nine aboard comes to a little under £1,000 a head;
– Lithuanian legs are fewer than on a busy corridor to Germany or Italy and cluster at the start and end of the summer, so an open return date helps.

Helicopter charter
Helicopter work in Lithuania is small in scale and mostly scenic. One operator based in Vilnius lists Robinson R44 and R22 helicopters for sightseeing flights from a helipad at Trakai and from the Paluknys aerodrome, which suits a short hop for two or three people and not an executive transfer with luggage. For anything larger we ask our partners for a type and a landing site and confirm both in writing. The jobs that make sense are short and local:
the island castle on Lake Galvė, in place of a drive of about half an hourabout 15 min
the hillforts of Kernavė, a World Heritage siteabout 20 min
the capital to the second city, in place of a road of about 100 kmabout 35 min
the capital to the spa town in the southabout 40 min
the second city to the spa townabout 35 min
the coast to the Curonian Spitabout 30 min
The times are straight-line estimates at a cruise of about 115 knots, and the operator confirms the route for your date. Short winter days narrow the programme.
Two points on Lithuanian rotary legs
A landing at a hotel, estate or lakeside away from an airport needs a landing site agreed in advance. The Curonian Spit is a national park and a World Heritage site, so a transfer there is planned to an agreed site and not to a beach or a dune. In July and August the seats go first, so take the helicopter and the jet as one booking.

Lithuanian charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
Six typical jobs put together from booking notes with the particulars changed, so none describes one named client or date.
VILNIUS · A DAY TRIP
Two directors, a lunch meeting and home by evening
London City - Vilnius and return, Citation CJ3+, about 2 h 40 min each way · 2 pax
Wheels up at seven, on the ground a little before noon by the Lithuanian clock, a meeting in the New Town and a departure at six. The permission was requested the day before through the handler at the VIP terminal, and the return landed in London in the evening.
KAUNAS · BASKETBALL WEEKEND
Six friends and a home game at the arena
Southampton - Kaunas, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 40 min · 6 pax
The party flew to Kaunas on the Friday and stayed in the old town. The arena is in the city, so the match needed no more than a taxi, and the Sunday return was agreed with the handler at the airport 14 km away.
PALANGA · A SUMMER WEEK
A family of five and a villa near the beach
London Stansted - Palanga, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 15 min · 5 pax
The airport is 6.5 km from the resort, so the car took ten minutes. The family spent a day on the Curonian Spit, crossing from Klaipėda, and left a week later, with the bags carried as soft luggage.
SPA TRIP · DRUSKININKAI
A couple and a week at a sanatorium
Manchester - Vilnius, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 40 min · 2 pax
Vilnius and Kaunas lie at a similar distance from the spa town, so the choice followed the flight time from the north of England. A driver took the couple south, and the aircraft returned for them a week later.
WITH THE DOG · AN APPROVED POINT
A couple, a retriever and ten days between Vilnius and Trakai
Biggin Hill - Vilnius, Phenom 300E, about 2 h 30 min · 2 pax + dog
Vilnius is on the list of points of entry for pets, so the dog was presented there with a certificate dated inside ten days of arrival and the owners' declaration. A vet in the city gave the tapeworm treatment the day before the flight home.
EMPTY LEG · A FLEXIBLE RETURN
A weekend in the capital with an open date
Vilnius - London Luton, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 2 h 30 min · 3 pax
The client gave us a window of three days instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid about £5,450, a little under half of a fresh one-way charter on the same sector, for a Monday departure.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Lithuania
1How long does it take to fly to Lithuania by private jet?
About 2 hours 40 minutes from London to Vilnius, 2 hours 35 minutes to Kaunas and 2 hours 20 minutes to Palanga on a light jet. Lithuania is two hours ahead of Britain.
2How much does a private jet to Lithuania cost?
From about £12,950 one way from London City to Vilnius on a light jet. Kaunas is about £500 less and Palanga about £1,650 less on the same aircraft. Baltic hops are far lower, with Vilnius to Riga from £5,950 on a light jet, and winter de-icing is quoted as a line of its own.
3Which airports do private jets use in Lithuania?
Vilnius is the usual gateway, with a VIP terminal and customs round the clock. Kaunas has a 3,250 metre runway and is the natural alternate, Palanga serves the coast and Klaipėda, and Šiauliai, shared with an air base, serves the north. Every non-scheduled arrival needs prior permission requested at least 24 hours ahead, and the handler is agreed first.
4What are the passport, customs and permit rules for a private flight from Britain to Lithuania?
Lithuania is in the EU and Schengen, so a flight from Britain clears passport control and customs at the first landing. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, and the passport must have been issued within the last ten years and run three months beyond departure. A private flight by an aircraft from an ICAO member state needs no Lithuanian permit, but a commercial charter by a non-EU operator does, and the transport safety administration decides within five working days.
5Can I take my dog or cat on a private jet to Lithuania?
Yes. The animal needs an ISO microchip fitted before or with the rabies vaccination, a rabies vaccination at least 21 days old and an Animal Health Certificate from an official vet issued within ten days of arrival, plus a signed declaration that the journey is not commercial. It must be presented at a designated point of entry, which includes the airports of Vilnius, Kaunas, Palanga and Šiauliai. Dogs need a tapeworm treatment between 24 and 120 hours before landing back in Britain.
6What happens if Vilnius airport is closed at short notice?
Short-notice airspace restrictions have closed Vilnius for hours at a time, and Kaunas has been affected too. We name an alternate before departure, usually Kaunas, 100 km away by road, or Riga, and warn the handler there. If the closure comes while the aircraft is airborne, the crew diverts to that alternate and we arrange the ground transfer.
