Private jet charter in Guernsey
Guernsey lies some 160 nautical miles south-west of London, a flight of well under an hour in a light jet, yet it belongs neither to the United Kingdom nor to the European Union. It is a Crown Dependency inside the Common Travel Area, with its own customs, its own tax regime and an airport that closes at nine in the evening. Private Jets UK plans these flights around those facts. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. On this island the service shows in small things: a handler who has the parking agreed before you land, a declaration filed on both sides of the Channel, and a car at the aircraft door as soon as the 1,463 metres of runway are behind you.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Guernsey depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from London Biggin Hill Airport, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ nonstop to Guernsey and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Guernsey?
Guernsey keeps the same time as Britain, on Greenwich Mean Time in winter and British Summer Time in summer, so there is no clock to change on the way. The sectors below are from British airfields to Guernsey, gate to gate:
nonstop, 158 nautical miles with the routing allowanceabout 45 min
nonstop, 136 nautical miles, the shortest of the London fieldsabout 40 min
nonstop, 107 nautical miles, a short hop across the Channel from the south coastabout 35 min
nonstop, 245 nautical milesabout 55 min
nonstop, 347 nautical milesabout 1 h 10 min
nonstop, 408 nautical miles, joint longest run in the table with Glasgowabout 1 h 20 min
Shorter than the drive to the airport
From the south of England the flight is often shorter than the ride out to the departure field. A CJ3+ that leaves Biggin Hill at eight in the morning is on the ground in Guernsey at about a quarter to nine, with the day's first meeting still an hour away. The sector is so short that the climb and the descent take up most of it.
Three things are done before the aircraft moves: the handler is appointed, because handling at Guernsey is compulsory; the declaration for the Bailiwick is filed beside the British one; and the return slot is fixed against the airport's day, which ends at 9 pm local time.
Airline or private jet: where the aircraft earns its price
– For one traveller going to a single meeting in St Peter Port, a scheduled seat is the cheaper answer. Aurigny and British Airways link Guernsey with Gatwick, Heathrow and other UK cities, and the timetable will do;
– A private aircraft wins when the party is three or more, when the programme includes Jersey or Alderney as well, when the return has to be at an hour no scheduled flight offers, and when the traveller wants to arrive with the paperwork, the car and the baggage already settled.
The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

Prices for the private jet flights to Guernsey
Typical private jet prices from Britain to Guernsey, cheapest first. Every row is a nonstop flight to the island, and the aircraft type is the one a broker would normally put on that sector:

What the figures leave out
– The cheapest departures share a price. Biggin Hill, London City and Luton on a Citation CJ3+ are all £5,300, because on a sector this short it is the minimum charge, not the distance, that sets the figure. Farnborough, Southampton, Exeter and Bristol on a Phenom 300E are £5,700. Further north the price follows the distance and the larger cabin: Manchester on a Citation XLS+ is £6,800, and Edinburgh or Glasgow is £8,050;
– The figure covers the aircraft, crew, fuel, the handler's fee and the landing charge at Guernsey. It does not cover catering on request, a car, or hangar space if the aircraft stays overnight. Because the airport shuts at 9 pm, a party that wants to stay on the island for the evening and fly home the next morning should price a night of parking.
Private jet flights within the Bailiwick and to its neighbours
The Bailiwick of Guernsey is a group of islands, and only two of them have an airfield. Guernsey itself covers about 62 square kilometres. Alderney lies some 43 km to the north-east, Jersey, which is a separate jurisdiction, about 41 km to the south-east, and the coast of Normandy begins at Cherbourg, 89 km away. Sark and Herm have no airfield, so a flight to either ends at Guernsey and a boat takes over. A turboprop flies any of the island or Normandy hops in well under an hour.

Two points on these sectors
– The short hops cost what the minimum charge dictates. Jersey, Alderney, Cherbourg and Dinard take between 25 and 35 minutes in the air, and a Pilatus PC-12 is the sensible aircraft for them, from £3,100. The same hop on a Citation CJ3+ would be £5,300, which is why a turboprop is the right choice when the trip is only an island hop;
– Jersey is not a domestic hop. It has its own customs regime, handler and declaration. Cherbourg and Dinard are in France, so a flight there is an entry into the Schengen area with passport control. The longer rows are the sectors clients ask about most: Paris Le Bourget for the capital, Nantes and Bordeaux for the Atlantic coast, Dublin as a fellow member of the Common Travel Area, then Geneva, Zurich and Nice for the Alps and the Riviera.

Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. At Guernsey the runway shapes the choice more than the number of seats does, and these are the typical selections:
Light jets
The class behind the price in the title. Four to six people reach the island nonstop from the London fields in under an hour, and the single runway of 1,463 metres sits well within the capability of a CJ3+ or a Phenom 300E.
Midsize
The usual pick from the Midlands and the north, and for a party with golf bags or a week of luggage. A Citation XLS+ or a Latitude gives a standing cabin and a hold that takes the bags, and both fit the island's runway, subject to the day's performance figures.
Super-midsize and large
For delegations and families who travel with staff. These aircraft land at Guernsey, but the short runway means a performance check for the day: temperature, wind, the weight at take-off and whether the runway is wet. We run the figures before a price is sent.
Heavy and ultra-long range
Not the natural choice for this island. A heavy jet carrying fuel for a long sector is limited by the same runway, and the realistic job is a short positioning flight or a quick arrival from Britain. The handler and the airport confirm the aircraft in writing before we quote.
Turboprops
The aircraft the island actually uses. Published movement counts put the King Air 350 first among business types at Guernsey, ahead of the King Air B200 and the TBM 700. For Jersey, Alderney and Cherbourg a turboprop is the cheaper aircraft to fly.

For a Guernsey booking the best aircraft is rarely on the island. The nearest suitable jet may stand at Biggin Hill, Farnborough, Southampton or Jersey, so the positioning leg changes the price more than the choice of model. We look at the whole map before a number is sent.

Business aviation airports in Guernsey
Guernsey has one airport that takes jets, and it is the one every flight from Britain is built around. Alderney has a second, much smaller field, and Jersey, a separate jurisdiction 22 nautical miles away, is the usual alternative. The facts below come from the airports, their handlers and the published guidance, and every opening time and handler is confirmed in writing before a flight:
| Airport | Ground | How it operates |
|---|---|---|
| Guernsey, Forest GCI / EGJB |
about 2.5 nautical miles south-west of St Peter Port, in the parish of Forest | The only airport on the island and the gateway for every jet. One asphalt runway, 09/27, 1,463 m long at 336 feet above sea level, with instrument approaches. The airport lists its day as 6:30 am to 9 pm local time, every day except Christmas Day, with the terminal open from 5:30 am and aviation fuel from Rubis (Jet A-1 and AVGAS) available from 6:15 am to 8 pm local time, out-of-hours fuelling by arrangement. Customs and immigration work on the airfield. Handling is compulsory for business aircraft, and two handlers share the work: Aiglle Flight Support, which lists a climate-controlled hangar of 20,000 square feet, a VIP lounge, a conference room and a crew car, and ASG, which provides handling, passenger assistance and refuelling. Both take the General Aviation Report forms and the slot and parking requests. Fire cover is category 6, and category 7 is available on request with 24 hours' notice |
| Alderney ACI / EGJA |
at La Grande Blaye, about one nautical mile south-west of the town of St Anne | The second airfield of the Bailiwick, run by the States of Guernsey. The main runway, 08/26, is asphalt and about 877 m long, with two grass strips of 733 m and 497 m crossing it. The airport lists summer hours of 7:40 am to 6:30 pm from Monday to Thursday and 7:40 am to 7:30 pm from Friday to Sunday, and winter hours of 7:40 am to 6:30 pm from Monday to Saturday and 8:55 am to 6:30 pm on Sunday. Only one scheduled airline serves it, Aurigny, from Guernsey and Southampton. A private flight does not need a handling agent here, but a General Aviation Report is required. The runway is too short for ordinary business jets, so Alderney is a turboprop and light-aircraft destination, and any jet request is checked case by case |
| Jersey JER / EGJJ |
about 4 nautical miles west-north-west of St Helier, in a separate jurisdiction | Not part of the Bailiwick, but the natural second airport for the area, about 22 nautical miles from Guernsey. One runway, 08/26, of about 1,700 m. Business aircraft over three tonnes use Gama Aviation as the executive handler. Jersey has its own customs and immigration, a separate declaration and a night curfew on movements, and slot coordination is advised from May to September. It is the plan B when Guernsey is closed by weather, and the destination when a programme includes both islands |
Four points settle most Guernsey arrivals before a quote goes out:
The handler: compulsory, and two to choose from
Business aircraft are handled by Aiglle Flight Support or by ASG, and the airport sends slot and parking requests for general and business aviation to the handlers. We agree the terms with one of them before the flight, and the handler then files the Bailiwick's declaration, orders fuel, places the aircraft in the hangar or on the apron and tells the driver which door to wait at.
The day: 6:30 am to 9 pm
The airport shuts at night. The extensions it lists are for scheduled carriers on request, so a private flight plans for 9 pm and treats anything later as a favour to ask. The return legs of a day trip are planned from the closing time backwards, with a margin for delays.
The runway: 1,463 metres, enough for most, not for every aircraft
The runway handles light and midsize jets without difficulty. Some directories list a longer take-off run on runway 27, but 1,463 metres is the figure we plan with. Large cabins and heavy jets are checked on the day's temperature, wind and surface before we confirm.
The paperwork: a Guernsey declaration as well as a British one
A General Aviation Report is required for every arrival and every departure, filed online as a master declaration or on the form held by the handlers. The UK report for the British end is a separate filing. A passenger who has something to declare walks to the customs office or red point on arrival.
When Guernsey says no: weather and the plan B
A single runway on a small island, with the sea on every side, is exposed to cloud and fog. The nearest alternates are Alderney, Jersey and Cherbourg, and for a jet only the last two are realistic. We arrange one with its handler and a car before departure. Jersey is 22 nautical miles away and has its own handler and customs, so it is the usual choice; Southampton is the fallback for a party that must be back in England the same day.
Arriving from Britain: the Common Travel Area, customs and what to carry
Guernsey is a Crown Dependency, not a part of the United Kingdom, and it is outside the European Union, but it sits in the Common Travel Area together with the United Kingdom, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Ireland. For a flight from Britain that means no passport control in the usual sense, a customs and tax boundary all the same, and a separate set of declarations. We confirm in writing which handler receives the party.
British citizens arriving from Britain face no immigration formalities; every passenger still carries a passport or other photographic identification, because the aircraft operator and the island's officers may ask for itevery passenger, children included
the island has its own immigration service; a non-British passenger carries a passport, and the entry position depends on nationality and on where the journey startedtell us at the start
the island's own electronic travel authorisation applies to non-visa nationals who arrive directly from outside the Common Travel Area; British and Irish citizens are exempt, and a traveller who comes via the United Kingdom does not need a separate onewe check each passport
Guernsey has its own customs and charges no VAT; goods for permanent import worth more than £270 on a private aircraft are declared, as are tobacco and alcohol above the personal allowancedeclare when in doubt
the pilot files a General Aviation Report for the island on arrival and on departure, and a UK report for the British end of the flight, not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departurewe prepare both with the handler
a dog or cat from Britain needs no certificate for Guernsey; animals from outside the UK, Jersey, the Isle of Man and Ireland cannot be landed by private aircraft at allsee the pets section below
Going home: the island is outside the UK tax area
Coming back is a flight into Britain from a territory with its own tax regime, and goods bought on the island are subject to the usual allowances on the UK side. The figure for goods carried on a private aircraft is £270 in total, below the £390 for a scheduled service; tobacco and alcohol have separate allowances. A passenger who carries more than the allowance declares it at the red channel.
A passenger with another nationality should tell us at the start. Whether an authorisation is needed depends on where the journey begins and ends, not on the aircraft, and an application can take longer than the flight takes to book.

Which airport for which part of the Bailiwick
Guernsey is small enough that the airport is never far from anything, and the rest of the Bailiwick is reached from it by water. These are the links that matter, and a boat timetable adds to every one of them:
the capital and only town, with the harbour, Castle Cornet and Victor Hugo's house; the airport lies 2.5 nautical miles south-west of it, about 4.6 km in a straight lineGuernsey
Cobo, Rocquaine and the Torteval parish lie on the far side of the island from the town, with their own summer events; a car from the airport reaches them in minutesGuernsey
a small car-free island reached by a ferry of about 20 minutes from St Peter Port, with no airfield of its ownGuernsey, then the ferry
a car-free island, 45 to 50 minutes by boat from Guernsey, where transport is by tractor, horse and cart or bicycle; there is no airfieldGuernsey, then the ferry
the northernmost island, with an 877 m runway and its own parliament; a turboprop connection from Guernsey takes about 25 minutesAlderney, for turboprops
a separate jurisdiction with its own airport and customs, about 22 nautical miles from GuernseyJersey
the Cotentin peninsula lies some 43 km east of Guernsey and Cherbourg is 89 km from the airport, with Dinard and St Malo further south; a flight to either enters France and the Schengen areaCherbourg or Dinard
St Peter Port, the small islands and the finance houses: what our clients go for
About 64,000 people live in the Bailiwick, nearly all of them on Guernsey, which has ten parishes and one town. The island is a self-governing Crown Dependency, with its own parliament, the States of Guernsey. The United Kingdom handles defence and most foreign affairs. The pound sterling is the currency, with Guernsey's own notes and coins in circulation beside the British ones, and the island charges no VAT, capital gains tax or inheritance tax.
Financial services are the largest sector, followed by tourism and agriculture, and the finance houses are the obvious source of weekday business traffic. Typical trips are a London banker or lawyer going to a board meeting in St Peter Port, or a fund manager who prefers an aircraft to a timetable. The day-return from a London field fits the airport's hours.
The leisure traffic is different. The island has a mild oceanic climate and a history that visitors come to see. Castle Cornet guards the harbour and hosts summer evening events. Victor Hugo spent about fifteen years in exile on Guernsey and wrote at Hauteville House, which is a museum. The German occupation of the Second World War left batteries and bunkers around the coast, and the island marks its liberation every year on 9 May. The Guernsey cattle are the island's best-known emblem, and the table has its own dishes: ormer, a local relative of the abalone, the bean jar stew, and the gâche bread.
The small islands are the second reason to land. Alderney, with about 2,200 people on 7.8 square kilometres, has its own parliament, the States of Alderney, and a week of summer festivities. Sark, about 600 people on 5.2 square kilometres, is governed by the Chief Pleas, keeps cars off its roads and holds the highest point of the Bailiwick, Le Moulin at 114 metres. Herm is smaller still and also car-free. The sea between the islands has a tidal range of about ten metres and currents that reach 12 knots, which is why the boat schedules matter and why we check them before a transfer is promised.
The Guernsey year: walking festivals, summer evenings and a quiet winter
There is no dead season on the island, but private traffic follows the festival weeks and the days when the boats run:
typically the quietest months for leisure; the airport closes on Christmas Day and daylight is short, so winter returns are planned for the afternoonGuernsey
the food festival The Big Eat in April, Liberation Day on 9 May with ceremonies, parades and concerts in St Peter Port, and the Spring Walking Festival from late May into early June, which includes a walk around the whole islandGuernsey
the busiest weeks: Castle Nights on Fridays in July, Herm Fest and Sark Sheep Racing in July, Rocquaine Regatta, the Guernsey Street Festival from late July into August, Alderney Week in early August, the West Show and the Tower to Tower walk and run in AugustGuernsey, Alderney
the Autumn Walking Festival in the second half of September and the return of The Big Eat in October; hotels are usually quieterGuernsey
The island's clocks follow Britain's, so there is no jet lag, and the long daylight hours of summer make a late dinner on the harbour a normal event. The practical limit is the airfield: an evening that runs past 9 pm means a night on the island, not a flight home.
The Bailiwick calendar: liberation, walks, regattas and Alderney Week
Dated events fill the apron and the hotels first, and several of them put private flights on a single day:
What a festival does to a flight plan
The tight days are Liberation Day, the first weeks of July and Alderney Week. Rooms are harder to find in the festival weeks, so a request sent as soon as the dates are known gives the handler time to agree the parking and the hotel to hold the rooms. For Alderney Week we look at Alderney's seasonal hours and book the turboprop and the boat as a pair, with Guernsey as the fallback.

Flying to Guernsey with a dog or a cat
Guernsey makes the pet paperwork simpler than most destinations, because a flight from Britain stays inside the Common Travel Area. The rules are set by the Bailiwick's own authorities rather than by the European Union, and they depend on where the animal started its journey.
The one fact to read before you book
A cat, dog or ferret travelling with its owner from the United Kingdom or the other Crown Dependencies needs no pet passport, no vaccination and no pre-notification to enter Guernsey. The animal has to be at least eight weeks old, and the authorities advise a talk with your vet before travel. A private aircraft or boat from those places, or from Ireland, can bring a pet in without any approval.
Animals that come from anywhere else cannot be landed by private aircraft at all, even with a valid pet passport or health certificate, and may be removed and quarantined at the owner's expense. So a trip that picks up a dog in France or Spain and then flies on to Guernsey is a trip we plan differently, usually with the animal routed through Britain first or left out of the Guernsey leg.
- Pets from Britain: no certificate, vaccination or notification required for Guernsey, minimum age eight weeks;
- Pets from other countries: not accepted on a private aircraft, whatever the paperwork;
- Restricted breeds, including American Bully and XL Bully types: not allowed in without a licence;
- Northern Ireland: different rules apply to a dog or cat travelling on to it, and we check them for your date.
The return to Britain is also covered by the Bailiwick's rules, which list no official requirements for movements between the islands and the United Kingdom, except for Northern Ireland. We still advise a vet check before a long weekend, and we confirm the position for your animal in writing before the flight, as the rules sit with several authorities and are updated by them.
Requirements for birds, rabbits and the less usual species, along with the countries where the timeline runs to months, are set out on our flying with pets guide.

Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. Guernsey produces a steady supply of them, because an aircraft that brings a party to the island has to fly the short sector back with an empty cabin, or fly out empty to collect people at the end of their stay.
Where Guernsey empty legs come from
– The weekday finance traffic: aircraft that take directors out for the morning meeting and fly back to the London fields in the evening, or position out the night before to be ready for an early return;
– The summer weekends: aircraft land with guests for the festival weeks, Alderney Week or a stay on Herm and Sark, and the return leg goes unsold until the party flies home;
– Aircraft from Jersey, Southampton or Cherbourg that position to Britain for the next client, because the three airfields are only minutes apart.
A client who can offer a few days has a far better chance of a match, though the operator owns the date and a leg can disappear when the original booking changes. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page. A selection of Guernsey empty legs follows:
| Route | Aircraft | Capacity | Whole aircraft |
|---|---|---|---|
| Guernsey - UK (Biggin Hill) nonstop |
Citation CJ3+ | 7 seats | £2,250 |
| Guernsey - UK (Birmingham) nonstop |
Citation CJ3+ | 7 seats | £2,250 |
| UK (London Luton) - Guernsey nonstop |
Citation CJ3+ | 7 seats | £2,250 |
| Guernsey - UK (Farnborough) nonstop |
Phenom 300E | 8 seats | £2,400 |
| UK (Bristol) - Guernsey nonstop |
Phenom 300E | 8 seats | £2,400 |
| UK (Manchester) - Guernsey nonstop |
Citation XLS+ | 9 seats | £2,850 |
| Guernsey - UK (Belfast City) nonstop |
Citation XLS+ | 9 seats | £3,000 |
| UK (Edinburgh) - Guernsey nonstop |
Citation XLS+ | 9 seats | £3,400 |
How to read those figures
– Each price is for the whole aircraft rather than per seat. A Citation XLS+ from Manchester with eight aboard comes to about £350 a head. Because the sector is short, even an empty leg has a floor, and the cheapest ones on this list sit at about £2,250.

Helicopter charter
In the Bailiwick a helicopter saves the sea, not the road. These are our estimates for the main transfers from St Peter Port, calculated at about 115 knots with a few minutes for the start and the landing:

Two points on Bailiwick rotary legs
We have found no published list of public helicopter landing sites in the Bailiwick, so the place for every landing is agreed for the job with the airport authority and the landowner, and customs rules apply wherever the aircraft crosses a border. Sea fog and low cloud over the strait can stop a crossing, so the helicopter and the jet are booked together, with the boat as the fallback for Sark and Herm.

Guernsey charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
Six typical jobs put together from booking notes with the particulars changed, so none describes one named client or date.
ST PETER PORT · A DAY IN THE FINANCE HOUSES
Two directors and a full day of meetings
Biggin Hill - Guernsey, Citation CJ3+, about 45 min · 2 pax
Wheels up at eight, a car at the handler's door on landing and a meeting that finished by half past four. The party was back at Biggin Hill well before the airport closed at nine, which is why they chose a light jet and a single day rather than a hotel.
SARK · THE QUIET WEEKEND
A couple, a boat and no cars
Farnborough - Guernsey, Phenom 300E, about 40 min · 2 pax
Sark has no airfield, so the aircraft landed at Guernsey and a transfer took the couple to the harbour for the crossing of 45 to 50 minutes. The handler held the aircraft for the Sunday return, with the boat timetable checked first.
ALDERNEY WEEK · THE PROGRAMME
Four friends and a week of events in August
Southampton - Guernsey, Phenom 300E, about 35 min · 4 pax
Alderney's runway is too short for a jet, so the party landed at Guernsey and a Pilatus PC-12 took them on to the northern island. The turboprop was booked with the jet as a single plan, with Guernsey as the fallback if Alderney's weather closed.
WITH THE DOG · NO PAPERS NEEDED
A family and a spaniel on a long weekend
Bristol - Guernsey, Phenom 300E, about 35 min · 3 pax + dog
Because the dog travelled from Britain on a private aircraft, Guernsey asked for no certificate and no notification. The only task was a vet check before the trip and a written confirmation from us that the animal started in the United Kingdom.
LIBERATION DAY · THE 9TH OF MAY
Five guests for the parade and the evening
Birmingham - Guernsey, Citation CJ3+, about 50 min · 5 pax
The handler's parking was agreed weeks ahead, the hotel rooms were held on the same day as the booking, and the return was timed for the early afternoon so that nothing depended on the 9 pm closing hour.
EMPTY LEG · THE FLEXIBLE RETURN
A flight back to London that waited for the seller
Guernsey - London Luton, Citation CJ3+ empty leg, about 45 min · 3 pax
The client gave us a window of two days instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid about £2,250, well under half of a fresh one-way charter on the same sector, for a Monday departure.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Guernsey
1How long does it take to fly to Guernsey by private jet?
About 45 minutes from Biggin Hill in a Citation CJ3+, about 40 minutes from Farnborough in a Phenom 300E and about 55 minutes from Manchester in a Citation XLS+. Guernsey keeps the same time as Britain, so there is no change to the clock.
2How much does a private jet to Guernsey cost?
From about £5,300 one way from Biggin Hill on a Citation CJ3+, the same from London City and Luton, and £5,700 from Farnborough on a Phenom 300E. A Citation XLS+ from Manchester is about £6,800 and from Edinburgh or Glasgow about £8,050. On a sector this short the minimum charge sets the price, so the nearest London field is no cheaper than a more distant one.
3Which airport do private jets use in Guernsey?
Guernsey Airport, with one runway of 1,463 metres, on-site customs and immigration, and compulsory handling by Aiglle Flight Support or ASG. It is open from 6:30 am to 9 pm local time every day except Christmas Day. Alderney has a shorter runway that suits turboprops, and Jersey, in a separate jurisdiction, is the usual alternative.
4Do I need a passport to fly from Britain to Guernsey?
Guernsey is in the Common Travel Area with the United Kingdom, so British citizens face no passport control from Britain, but every passenger should carry a passport or other photographic identification. Non-visa nationals who arrive directly from outside the Common Travel Area need the island's own electronic travel authorisation, and a traveller who arrives via the United Kingdom does not.
5What paperwork does a private aircraft need for Guernsey?
A General Aviation Report for the island on every arrival and departure, filed online or through the handler, and the UK report for the British end of the flight. Passengers with goods above the allowance declare them at customs, and the personal allowance for goods carried on a private aircraft is £270.
6Can I take my dog or cat on a private jet to Guernsey?
Yes, from Britain. A dog or cat travelling with its owner from the United Kingdom needs no certificate, vaccination or notification for Guernsey and must be at least eight weeks old. Animals that come from other countries cannot be landed by private aircraft, and restricted breeds such as XL Bully types need a licence. We confirm the position in writing before the flight.
7Can a large jet land at Guernsey?
Light and midsize jets operate there without difficulty. Large cabins and heavy jets can land but are checked against the runway length of 1,463 metres for the day's temperature, wind and surface, and the handler and airport confirm the aircraft before we quote. Alderney's runway is too short for ordinary business jets.
