Private jet charter in Portugal
Private Jets UK flies clients from Britain into Portugal, where more people ask us about Porto than about the capital, and where the executive field outside Lisbon needs paperwork a British passport did not use to require. Our customers have access to 6500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. For 15 years of successful work, we have established partnerships with the world’s largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you the most favorable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. The aircraft we put on Portuguese routes sit at the London fields and in the west of England, and the western bases are the ones that make a Portuguese quote cheaper.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Portugal depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated based on the following data: departure from Exeter Airport, a Citation CJ3+, two passengers. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.

How long does it take to fly to Portugal?
Portugal is closer to Britain than it looks on a map, and the north of it is closer still. These are the figures gate to gate:
610 nautical miles, the shortest crossing we fly to Portugalabout 2 h 05 min
685 nautical miles from Farnborough and 723 from Lutonabout 2 h 20 min
758 nautical miles, and a hundred and fifty more than Portoabout 2 h 20 min
829 nautical miles from Farnborough and 847 from Biggin Hillabout 2 h 35 min
925 nautical miles from Biggin Hill and 949 from Lutonabout 2 h 45 min
1,356 nautical miles from Luton, out over the Atlanticabout 3 h 30 min
1,381 nautical miles from Stansted to Ponta Delgadaabout 3 h 55 min
The west of England is the short way to Portugal
Exeter sits 610 nautical miles from Porto and Luton 723, and against Lisbon the same pattern holds from every British field we use. On a sector of this length that gap is a quarter of an hour in the air and, more usefully, a cabin class on the quote. Where the party can start from Exeter, Bournemouth or Bristol rather than the London fields, the whole booking gets cheaper without anyone flying for longer.
The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

Two things worth knowing about these figures
– Porto is a good deal nearer to Britain than Lisbon and appreciably cheaper for it. Where the trip is to the north of the country or to the Douro, the difference runs to several thousand euros on the same cabin;
– The last two lines cross open Atlantic rather than continental Europe. Madeira and the Azores are Portuguese, but from an aircraft point of view they are a different trip entirely.
Private jet flights within Portugal
The mainland is small and the motorway is good, so the internal sectors split into short hops where the car often wins and Atlantic crossings where nothing else will do. These are the private jet sectors we quote:
| Route | Aircraft | Flight time | Price, one way |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lisbon - Cascais 11 nm / 20 km |
Airbus H145 helicopter up to 8 |
about 13 min | from 2,800 EUR |
| Lisbon - Beja 70 nm / 130 km |
Pilatus PC-12 NGX up to 8 |
about 36 min | from 3,700 EUR |
| Lisbon - Faro 119 nm / 221 km |
Pilatus PC-12 NGX up to 8 |

| Lisbon - Porto 150 nm / 278 km |
Beechcraft King Air 250 up to 7 |
about 51 min | from 5,300 EUR |
| Porto - Faro 256 nm / 475 km |
Citation CJ2+ up to 6 |
about 59 min | from 6,900 EUR |
| Lisbon - Porto Santo 490 nm / 907 km |
Citation M2 up to 7 |
about 1 h 35 min | from 13,400 EUR |
| Faro - Madeira 505 nm / 936 km |
Citation M2 up to 7 |
about 1 h 37 min | from 13,800 EUR |
| Lisbon - Madeira 521 nm / 965 km |
Citation M2 up to 7 |
about 1 h 39 min | from 14,200 EUR |
| Lisbon - Ponta Delgada 782 nm / 1,449 km |
Citation CJ4 Gen2 up to 8 |
about 2 h 06 min | from 18,600 EUR |
Two things worth knowing about these sectors
– The first five lines are mainland hops of under an hour, and we quote them mostly as connections either side of a British arrival rather than as journeys in themselves;
– The last four are ocean crossings with no diversion airport for long stretches, which is why the aircraft and the planning are treated differently. That traffic is also where the empty legs on the island routes come from.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:
- Large jet (similar to Legacy 600) - from 5800 to 6800 EUR per flight hour;
- Business liners - from 12100 EUR per flight hour;
- Light jet - from 2500 to 3500 EUR per flight hour;
- Long-haul jet (similar to Global 5000, Gulfstream G550, Falcon 7X, etc.) - from 6800 to 10400 EUR per flight hour;
- Medium-sized jet (identical to Cessna Citation XLS+, Hawker 800XP, etc.) - from 3500 to 4400 EUR per flight hour;
- Turboprops - from 1000 EUR per flight hour.
- Large medium-class jet (similar to Challenger 300, etc.) - from 5400 to 6500 EUR per flight hour;
- Small jet, from 2000 to 2900 EUR per flight hour;

Also, we have prepared a table with the general prices of the most popular planes:

Private jets are ready to take off
Turboprops
For the mainland hops and the Alentejo strips, and the cheapest way to move inside the country. On a sector of under an hour they lose almost nothing to a jet.
Light jets
The class that flies the Porto runs from the west of England, and the one most often used for the mainland legs and the shorter Atlantic hops.
Super-midsize
Where the Lisbon and Faro bookings settle, and the largest class Cascais will take. From London this is the sensible answer for a full cabin.
Heavy jets
For the Scottish departures to Lisbon and for Madeira, where the sector runs past thirteen hundred nautical miles with a full cabin aboard.
Ultra-long range
For the Azores and for a large party going a long way over water. Lisbon and Faro have both long served as the last European stop before the Atlantic crossing.

Business aviation airports in Portugal
Portugal runs down one coast and then out into the Atlantic twice, which gives it a short list of mainland fields and two island groups a long way from either. These are the ones a private jet from Britain actually lands at:
| Airport | Ground | How it operates |
|---|---|---|
| Lisbon Humberto Delgado LIS / LPPT |
6 km to the centre | Closer to Lisbon than almost any capital airport in Europe manages to be, and correspondingly busy. Slot coordinated all year, with the summer the hardest of it |
| Cascais Tires CAT / LPCS |
20 km to the business district | Twenty kilometres out at the coastal end of the Lisbon conurbation, and closer than the capital airport to Estoril and Sintra. A short runway sets the ceiling on the aircraft |
| Porto Francisco Sa Carneiro OPO / LPPR |
11 km to the centre | A 3,480 metre runway, full handling and the shortest crossing from Britain of anywhere in Portugal. Porto serves the Douro, Braga and the north |
| Faro FAO / LPFR |
4 km to the town | The Algarve, and a dedicated general aviation terminal with its own apron access. Faro is the arrival for Quinta do Lago, Vilamoura and Vale do Lobo |
| Funchal Madeira FNC / LPMA |
14 km to Funchal | Madeira sits on a shelf above the sea with a runway built out on pillars. It takes a large cabin, and Porto Santo stands as its alternate 31 nautical miles away |
| Ponta Delgada PDL / LPPD |
2 km to the town | Sao Miguel and the Azores, nearly eight hundred nautical miles out into the Atlantic from Lisbon. Full length runway and customs, and the practical gateway to the archipelago |
| Porto Santo PXO / LPPS |
the second Madeira island | A 3,000 metre runway on a small island, used as the alternate for Funchal as often as it is used as a destination |
| Beja and the smaller fields BYJ and others |
the Alentejo and the interior | Beja has a very long runway and almost no traffic, which occasionally makes it useful. The rest are light aircraft fields |
Cascais is the executive field, with one condition a British client needs to know
Cascais Tires handles most of the private movements in the Lisbon area and does it well: seven FBOs, prior permission rather than a slot queue, and a car waiting at the aircraft. Two things limit it. The runway is 1,700 metres, which suits everything up to a super-midsize cabin and rules out the heavy ones. And because it is not a routine border post, an arrival from outside the Schengen area needs arranging in advance rather than assumed, which since Brexit includes every flight from Britain. We do arrange it and it is not difficult, but it has to be set up rather than discovered on the day, and a broker who does not raise it has not thought about where you are flying from.
Lisbon is unusually close to its city and unusually busy
Six kilometres from the centre is remarkable for a capital airport and it is the reason clients keep asking for it. The difficulty is that the same airport has been running beyond comfortable capacity for years: on a single day in July it logged well over a hundred and eighty delayed departures. Slots are coordinated and a private movement competes with the scheduled traffic for them. Where the schedule is tight or the return time matters, we will usually put the aircraft into Cascais and accept the twenty kilometres, and where the cabin is too large for Cascais we book Lisbon early rather than late.
Which airport for which part of Portugal
Portugal divides cleanly into the north, the capital, the Algarve and the Atlantic, and the arrival field follows from which of the four you want. These are the pairings behind most of our Portuguese private jet bookings:
the wine trade, the valley and the coast north of the cityPorto, 11 km
if the slot is there, and it usually is if the booking is not last-minuteLisbon, 6 km
the coastal end of the conurbation, and a shorter walk from apron to carCascais, 20 km
Quinta do Lago and Vilamoura within half an hour of the apronFaro, 4 km
an hour and a half out from Lisbon, and quoted with Porto Santo behind itFunchal, 14 km
eight hundred nautical miles out into the Atlantic, and a flight of its ownPonta Delgada, 2 km
More people ask us about Porto than about Lisbon
Looking at what people search for on this site, Porto draws more than four times the interest that Lisbon does, which is the reverse of what the two cities are usually assumed to be. Part of it is the Douro and the wine trade, part of it is that the north of Portugal is simply nearer to Britain, and part of it is that Porto has none of the congestion the capital struggles with. Whatever the reason, it changes how we quote the country: Porto is the default question rather than the afterthought, and a client who names Lisbon out of habit is often better served two hundred and eighty kilometres north of it.
Madeira and the Azores are Atlantic flying, not Portuguese flying
Funchal is 521 nautical miles from Lisbon and Ponta Delgada 782, which puts the Azores further from their own capital than Lisbon is from the south of England. These are long overwater sectors with few diversion options, so the aircraft is chosen for the crossing rather than for the party, and the planning includes a weather picture at both ends rather than one. Madeira in particular turns aircraft back more often than any other field we quote in Portugal, which is why we hold a Porto Santo alternate as a matter of course rather than as a precaution.
Three things that shape a Portuguese booking
– The mainland works all year, which is not true of most southern European destinations. February in the Algarve is quiet, mild and a fraction of the August price;
– Lisbon congestion peaks with the Algarve season, so a July booking into the capital wants making early. Cascais absorbs a good deal of that pressure;
– Golf traffic runs on its own calendar, heaviest from March to May and again in October, and those weeks fill the Faro apron well before the beach season does.

Flying to Portugal with a dog or a cat
Portugal is straightforward for an animal travelling by private jet, with the standard European paperwork set and one seasonal consideration that matters more here than the documents do.
The one fact to read before you book
Portugal is a listed country, so coming home needs no rabies blood test and no waiting period. An Animal Health Certificate from an Official Veterinarian, dated within ten days of travel, covers the outbound leg and stays valid for return journeys for six months. Dogs need a tapeworm treatment on the way back, given by a Portuguese vet between one and five days before departure. The seasonal part is the Algarve in high summer, where an afternoon apron is hot enough to matter, so we move those departures to the morning or the evening and bring the car to the aircraft.
- An ISO-standard microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination rather than after;
- Rabies vaccination at least 21 days old on the day you land, given when the animal was at least 12 weeks;
- An Animal Health Certificate dated no more than ten days before travel;
- Tapeworm treatment for dogs on the homeward leg only;
- Up to five animals per booking without commercial documentation.
Cats need the same list without the worming. There is no hold and no weight limit, so a large dog travels exactly as a small one does. The mainland flight runs between two and three hours depending on the corner, and most animals sleep through it. Madeira and the Azores are a different matter: those are long overwater legs and worth discussing separately if an animal is coming.
a Portuguese vet, one to five days before the return flighton the homeward leg only
Porto at the short end and Faro at the long one2 h 05 to 2 h 45 min
a morning or evening departure rather than a midday one, from June to Septemberthe seasonal constraint

Requirements for birds, rabbits and the less usual species, along with the countries where the timeline runs to months, are set out on our flying with pets guide.
Types of flights
Our company provides all types of business flights. Due to a wide variety of jets, we can arrange:
- private flights;
- corporate flights;
- business class flights;
- concert tours;
- medical flights (with doctors and special equipment on board);
- tourist flights for large and small groups;
- sports charters for teams and coaching staff;
- combined flights (partly by business jet, and partly by helicopter);
- exclusive flights on luxury jets for businessmen, celebrities, and politicians;
- cargo flights, etc.
A flexible approach and a wide experience allow us to solve problems of any complexity. In 90% of cases, we manage to arrange urgent flights (on the day of application). But to be sure, we recommend you send a request at least 2-5 days before the desired date of departure.

Empty Legs
Another way to fly cheaper is to use Empty Legs. This service allows you to save on regular charter rates. As you know, part of the flights is one-way (for example, when the passenger flies from England to Portugal). After the flight, the jet returns to its home base (for example, to London Farnborough airport) empty. Such flight is called “Empty Legs”. Empty leg flights can be as cheap as 50-75% off the standard charter price. This option is profitable for both the passengers and the charter companies. The clients can enjoy the services of business aviation at a very good price, while the airlines recoup part of the cost of fuel and jet maintenance.
It is almost impossible to find Empty Leg flights, as the information about them is stored in special databases available only to the aviation brokers and specialized companies. You should know that Empty Leg flights offer the same service as private jet charters. The passengers enjoy a 100% private jet flying experience. Services and flight conditions are discussed individually. We should note that our company cooperates with the world’s largest home bases, so we can offer our clients a wide choice of return flights. Just send a request to our manager who will help you find the best flight options. Please note that Empty Leg flights are sold out very quickly. To avoid such a problem, you can leave us a deposit, and we will contact you as soon as the flight of your choice becomes available. For additional information, check with the operators.
A selection of empty legs that have run on the Portuguese routes recently. Dates are left off, since a leg lasts only until somebody claims it:
| Route | Aircraft | Capacity | Whole aircraft |
|---|---|---|---|
| Portugal (Porto) - UK (Exeter) | Cessna Citation CJ3+ | 7 seats | 5,500 EUR |
| UK (London Luton) - Portugal (Porto) | Embraer Phenom 300E | 8 seats | 6,300 EUR |
| Portugal (Lisbon) - UK (Exeter) | Bombardier Learjet 75 Liberty | 8 seats | 6,900 EUR |
| UK (London Farnborough) - Portugal (Lisbon) | Cessna Citation XLS+ | 9 seats | 7,700 EUR |
| Portugal (Cascais) - UK (London Biggin Hill) | Cessna Citation Latitude | 9 seats | 8,100 EUR |
| UK (London Luton) - Portugal (Faro) | Embraer Praetor 600 | 9 seats | 9,000 EUR |
| Portugal (Lisbon) - UK (Manchester) | Bombardier Challenger 350 | 9 seats | 9,600 EUR |
| Portugal (Madeira) - UK (London Luton) | Embraer Legacy 650 | 13 seats | 13,700 EUR |
How to read those figures
– Each price is for the whole aircraft rather than per seat. A Legacy 650 home from Madeira at 13,700 EUR carrying thirteen works out just over a thousand a head for three and a half hours in the air;
– Set each line beside the same class in the tables above. A Citation XLS+ into Lisbon at 7,700 EUR against 18,300 for a fresh charter out of Farnborough is the saving in plain terms;
– The Algarve season throws these off in both directions, because the traffic is one way at the start of a holiday and one way again at the end of it.

Jet Sharing
Today, Jet Sharing is just as popular as private jet charter. This service involves the joint rental of a business jet with other passengers (that is, the cost of the flight is divided equally between all passengers of a specific flight). This type of flight has become especially popular in the last few years. Many people like Jet Sharing because it allows you to enjoy all benefits of business aviation at favorable prices.
We should note that the number of passengers per Jet Sharing flight varies from 3 to 8, while the cost of the flight ranges from 1400 to 7100 euros (depending on the destination). This way, you can get a comfortable flight on a business jet (and maybe even meet new business partners) at a very good price. You can check out the schedule of Jet Sharing flights by filling in the online form or contacting our operators by phone or WhatsApp.
Main advantages of this service:
- All privileges of business aviation, including the use of the business aviation terminal and the check-in 30 minutes before the flight, are retained;
- You can also use the services of the VIP Lounge (included in the price of the flight);
- No baggage restrictions;
- Affordable price: jet sharing is much cheaper than private jet charter;
- Pets can be carried directly in the aircraft cabin.
Our consultants will be happy to help you choose the best flight.

Helicopter charter
Alongside the private jet, the helicopter in Portugal earns its place wherever the road follows a river, a coastline or a mountain and takes three times as long for it:
the coastal houses and the hotels, and a slow road at the wrong hourabout 10 minutes
the north coast and the mountain hotels, over terrain the road climbs slowlyabout 15 minutes
the dunes and the newer estates south of the Tagusabout 20 minutes
Quinta do Lago, Vilamoura and the western beachesabout 20 minutes
the wine quintas, where the road follows the river and takes twice as longabout 25 minutes
The machines that work these routes
– Airbus H125 and Bell 407, the light singles behind most estate and coastal transfers;
– Airbus H145 twins, which Portuguese operators favour on the island work and in poor visibility;
– Agusta AW109 for a party of six on the longer Douro and Alentejo legs.
Two points on Portuguese rotary legs
– The Atlantic wind along the Lisbon coast is steadier than the Mediterranean equivalent, so these legs are cancelled less often than the Greek or Balearic ones;
– Madeira is the exception. Terrain and wind there make a rotary leg genuinely weather-dependent, and we build a road alternative into the day rather than assume it flies.

Flight payment options
The main goal of our company is to provide the highest level of comfort to our customers. Therefore, we’re always ready to meet you halfway. Our consultants will offer you a wide variety of flights to meet your needs and budget. Most customers prefer a non-cash method (a transfer to an EU bank account), which guarantees a high level of confidentiality and security of payment. All payment details are provided in advance, so you’ll have enough time to make the necessary checks. For years of working in business aviation, our company has gained an impeccable reputation. We practice transparency and are always ready to present all necessary documents.
Private Jet UK works with both physical and legal entities. We guarantee the confidentiality and security of payments. You can pay for the flights from Portugal in any convenient way:
- cashless (by transfer to our account);
- by cash;
- by card;
- by cryptocurrency.
Our company works with European and British banks, which allows you to choose the most convenient payment method. In addition, we conclude formal agreements and provide our clients with all necessary documents and invoices, which guarantees the safe payment and delivery of services. If you have any financial questions, feel free to contact our private aviation consultants.
If you need to book an urgent flight, please keep in mind that the bank transfer can take a few days. In such situations, we may need to involve our partner companies so that you can pay for your flight in cash. If you have any questions, you can contact your personal consultant 24/7.

What our clients say about flying to Portugal
A few words from people who have made these trips with us. First names only, and the wording is theirs.
PORTO
“I had been flying to Lisbon and driving north”
Exeter to Porto · Citation CJ3+ · Rupert H.
“Three years and a good few flights with the same account manager, and the best question he has asked in all that time was: why do you fly to Lisbon at all? My business is in the Douro valley, and for years I landed in the capital and drove three hours north. Now it is Exeter to Porto direct, and half a day comes back into every trip.”
CASCAIS
“They warned me about the Schengen paperwork”
Luton to Cascais · Citation Latitude · Miranda F.
“I was kept informed of every detail as it emerged, and above all warned early about the Schengen formalities: Cascais is a small field, and the paperwork for an arrival from Britain is prepared before departure rather than discovered on the apron. It was all settled while we were still at home.”
LISBON SLOTS
“Book early or take Cascais”
Farnborough to Lisbon · Citation XLS+ · Charles B.
“Not my first trip with them, and by now they greet me like one of their own. The Lisbon rule was explained on my very first booking: either we book the slot well ahead, or we take Cascais and nobody frets. This time we left it late, landed at Cascais, and I was in the city twenty-five minutes later. The rule works.”
THE ALGARVE
“February cost a third of August”
Luton to Faro · Praetor 600 · The Alderton family
“I put out feelers to several companies and these were among the most competitive on price, and they made no secret of the seasonal arithmetic: Faro in February costs a third of Faro in August, the course is empty and the golf is the same. A winter week in the Algarve is now a family tradition, and financially it is a different planet.”
MADEIRA
“They held an alternate and we used it”
Luton to Madeira · Legacy 650 · Nigel W.
“We were warned from the start: Funchal is an airport with a temperament, the wind decides everything, so Porto Santo always sits in the plan as the alternate. The pilots broke off the first approach, hopped to the neighbouring island, waited an hour and landed at the second attempt, calmly and matter-of-factly. An alternate agreed in advance turns a drama into a footnote.”
EMPTY LEG
“Home from Madeira at well under half”
Madeira to Luton · Legacy 650 · Priscilla D.
“An empty leg home came up, and I built an unplanned family weekend around the price alone. The flight was smooth and the pilots did everything to make it calm and comfortable. Empty legs are the best way to fly privately on short, unplanned trips.”
Frequently asked questions about flying to Portugal
1How long does it take to fly to Portugal by private jet?
About two hours and five minutes from Exeter to Porto, which is the shortest run, and around two hours and twenty from London. Lisbon from London takes about two hours and thirty-five minutes and Faro about two hours and forty-five. Madeira runs to three and a half hours and the Azores to nearly four.
2How much does a private jet to Portugal cost?
From about 13,200 EUR one way from Exeter to Porto on a light jet, and 15,600 EUR from Luton. Lisbon from London starts around 18,300 EUR and Faro around 21,300 EUR. Madeira runs to about 32,700 EUR and the Azores to 35,900 EUR. Internal Portuguese sectors start at about 2,800 EUR.
3Lisbon or Cascais for the capital?
Lisbon if the aircraft is large or the destination is the city itself, since the airport is six kilometres from the centre. Cascais if the schedule is tight, the party is going to the coast, or the cabin is super-midsize or smaller. Cascais has a 1,700 metre runway and works on prior permission rather than slots, and an arrival from Britain needs arranging in advance because it is outside Schengen.
4Why is Porto cheaper than Lisbon?
Because it is closer. From Exeter it is 610 nautical miles to Porto against 758 to Lisbon, and every British departure shows the same gap. On a sector of this length that difference moves the aircraft class as well as the hours. For the Douro, Braga or the north it is also the nearer arrival on the ground.
5Can a private jet reach Madeira and the Azores?
Yes, and both are proper Atlantic sectors rather than island hops. Funchal is 521 nautical miles from Lisbon and Ponta Delgada 782. Madeira sits on a shelf above the sea and its wind turns aircraft back more often than any mainland field, so we hold Porto Santo as an alternate as a matter of course.
