Private Jet Charter to Germany

Private Jets UK flies clients from Britain into Germany all year, mostly on business, and the country is close enough that the Rhineland is a shorter sector from London than Geneva is. Our customers have access to 6500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. For 15 years of successful work, we have established partnerships with the world’s largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you the most favorable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. The aircraft we put on German routes sit mostly at Farnborough, Biggin Hill and Luton, with a number based at Frankfurt and Dusseldorf that remove the positioning leg on a short-notice booking.

private jet charter

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Germany depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.

You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:

  • using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
  • via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
  • by landline or cell phone;
  • via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).

Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated based on the following data: departure from London Biggin Hill Airport, a Citation Mustang, two passengers. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.

How long does it take to fly to Germany?

Germany is a short sector from Britain and the spread across the country is narrow by European standards. These are the times from London, gate to gate:

London to Dusseldorf
268 nautical miles, and a shorter sector than Geneva or Zurich
about 1 h 05 min
London to Cologne Bonn
288 nautical miles into the field that stays open all night
about 1 h 10 min
London to Frankfurt
355 nautical miles to the financial district
about 1 h 20 min
London to Hamburg
390 nautical miles for the north and the port
about 1 h 25 min
London to Stuttgart
414 nautical miles into the Swabian engineering belt
about 1 h 30 min
London to Berlin or Munich
511 and 513 nautical miles, the two longest German sectors we fly
about 1 h 45 min

On a German booking the clock matters more than the distance

Every German sector from London fits inside two hours, so range never decides the aircraft here the way it does on a Mediterranean route. What decides the day is the night ban. An hour and twenty each way leaves plenty of room for a morning of meetings and an evening return, but only if the departure slot sits before Frankfurt closes at eleven. From Manchester or Edinburgh add roughly half an hour in each direction, which is usually the difference between a comfortable margin and a tight one.

The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

Two things worth knowing about these figures

– The price swing across the country is wide for such a short flight. Dusseldorf is 262 nautical miles from Biggin Hill and Munich 488, which is the difference between a very light cabin and a midsize one;

– This is business flying rather than holiday flying, so the pattern is weekday mornings out and evenings back, and the pricing stays flat across the year rather than spiking in summer.

Private jet flights within Germany

Germany is the most polycentric country in Europe for business, with finance in one city, industry in another and government in a third. That is what drives the internal sectors:

Two things worth knowing about the internal sectors

– German rail is fast and the short western sectors compete with it directly. Where the aircraft wins is the three-city day, which no timetable will give you;

– Because so much German traffic is same-day return, aircraft sit on the ground for hours in the middle of the day, and those gaps are where the empty legs on German routes come from.

We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Due to a large database of available business jets, we can help you find an optimal jet and crew. If you have any questions about the departure or the flight itself, you can ask them using the form below:

Prices depending on the type of business jet

We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

  • Large jet (similar to Legacy 600) - from 4900 to 5800 GBP per flight hour;
  • Business liners - from 10300 GBP per flight hour;
  • Light jet - from 2100 to 3000 GBP per flight hour;
  • Long-haul jet (similar to Global 5000, Gulfstream G550, Falcon 7X, etc.) - from 5800 to 8800 GBP per flight hour;
  • Medium-sized jet (identical to Cessna Citation XLS+, Hawker 800XP, etc.) - from 3000 to 3700 GBP per flight hour;
  • Turboprops - from 850 GBP per flight hour.
  • Large medium-class jet (similar to Challenger 300, etc.) - from 4600 to 5500 GBP per flight hour;
  • Small jet, from 1700 to 2500 GBP per flight hour;

Private jets are ready to take off

Turboprops

For the short internal sectors between the western cities, and the cheapest way to move inside Germany. On the run from Britain they only make sense to the Rhineland.

Beechcraft King Air 350 · 9 seatsfrom 1,900 EUR/h
Piaggio P180 Avanti II · 8 seatsfrom 2,300 EUR/h

Light jets

The volume class on German routes. Dusseldorf and Cologne are close enough from London that a very light cabin does the job, and Frankfurt is comfortably inside range.

Business aviation airports in Germany

The airport list here is longer than for most countries, because the business that generates the flying is spread across a dozen cities rather than one or two. These are the fields our German private jet bookings actually use:

Airport Ground How it operates
Frankfurt Main
FRA / EDDF
12 km to the centre The financial capital and the main gateway, with a dedicated general aviation terminal. Frankfurt handles any aircraft flying, and the night ban is the thing to plan around
Munich
MUC / EDDM
35 km to the centre The southern hub and the busiest field for Munich, the Alps and the Bavarian industrial belt. Slot coordinated, with restricted movements in the night margins
Berlin Brandenburg
BER / EDDB
25 km to the centre The single civil airport for Berlin, with a general aviation terminal on the south side and slot coordination through the working week
Dusseldorf
DUS / EDDL
8 km to the centre Dusseldorf and the Rhine-Ruhr, the closest German field to Britain and the busiest corporate destination we serve here
Cologne Bonn
CGN / EDDK
15 km to the centre Cologne and the former federal capital, with round the clock operation, which makes it the standard answer when the night ban rules out Frankfurt
Hamburg
HAM / EDDH
9 km to the centre The north, the port and the media business. Hamburg is slot coordinated and takes any type
Stuttgart
STR / EDDS
13 km to the centre Stuttgart and the Swabian engineering belt, with the motor industry behind most of the traffic. Baden-Baden covers the spa belt and the Black Forest an hour to the west
Nuremberg and Leipzig
NUE and LEJ
regional hubs Nuremberg covers Franconia and the trade fairs, Leipzig the east and the logistics corridor, with Dresden an hour further on
Hannover and Bremen
HAJ and BRE
northern fields Hannover for the trade fair traffic, which fills it entirely in fair weeks, and Bremen for the aerospace cluster

Germany closes at night, and it means it

The night flying bans here are the strictest in Europe and they apply to a private jet exactly as they do to an airliner. Frankfurt permits no movements at all between eleven at night and five in the morning, and its general aviation terminal keeps the same hours. Munich restricts the margins either side of that window. A delay that would cost nothing more than a late arrival at most European fields can mean a diversion here, or a night on the ground and a departure the following morning. This is the single most useful thing to understand before booking a German evening return, and the reason we build a margin into the schedule rather than quoting the last legal slot.

Why we do not fly you from Britain into Egelsbach

Egelsbach sits sixteen kilometres south of Frankfurt and exists purely for general aviation, which makes it look like the obvious choice. It cannot clear customs for an arrival from outside the European Union, and since Britain left, a flight from London is exactly that. Its runway is also only 1,400 metres with no instrument landing system, so weather and aircraft size both narrow it further. Clients based inside the Union use it constantly and it is an excellent field. From Britain the aircraft goes to Frankfurt Main, and anyone who tells you otherwise has not checked the customs position.

Frankfurt night banNo movements between 23:00 and 05:00, general aviation included
Round the clock alternativeCologne Bonn, which is why late arrivals often route there
SlotsCoordinated at effectively every German airport we use, Frankfurt and Munich most tightly
BorderGermany is in the EU and Schengen, so an arrival from Britain clears customs but not passports
Berlin TegelClosed in November 2020; all Berlin traffic uses Brandenburg
Trade fair weeksHannover, Frankfurt, Munich and Nuremberg fill months ahead around the major fairs

Which airport for which part of Germany

Because the business is spread across the country, the arrival airport on a German booking is usually settled by one meeting address rather than by a city name. These are the pairings behind most of our German private jet bookings:

The Rhine-Ruhr
the densest industrial region in Europe, and where most of our German corporate work lands
Dusseldorf or Cologne Bonn
Banking and the ECB
the whole financial district inside twenty minutes of the general aviation terminal
Frankfurt Main, 12 km
Bavaria and the Alps
the motor and technology belt, with Augsburg an alternative when Munich is full
Munich, 35 km
The capital and government
ministries, embassies and the Bundestag, all inside half an hour of the terminal
Berlin Brandenburg, 25 km
The North Sea and the islands
Sylt takes the summer traffic and is the one genuinely seasonal German field
Hamburg or Sylt
Trade fairs
and in fair weeks the aircraft is easier to find than the parking stand
Hannover, Nuremberg or Leipzig

Three things that shape a German booking

– Most of it is a day return. Out early, meetings, back the same evening, which puts the pressure on the departure slot rather than the arrival one;

– The trade fair calendar matters more here than the holiday calendar. A fair week in Hannover or Frankfurt fills the aprons and the hotels together;

– Rail is genuinely good between the western cities, so we will say plainly when the train is the better answer and quote the leg that is not.

Flying to Germany with a dog or a cat

Germany is straightforward for an animal, and a private jet there is short enough that most of them settle before the aircraft levels off. The paperwork is the standard European set, and the one thing worth planning is the appointment for the journey home.

The one fact to read before you book

Germany is a listed country, so coming home needs no rabies blood test and no waiting period. An Animal Health Certificate from an Official Veterinarian in Britain, dated within ten days of travel, covers the outbound leg and then stays valid for return journeys for six months. Dogs need a tapeworm treatment on the way back, given by a German vet between one and five days before departure and recorded with the date and the product. German practices are used to the paperwork and the timing is rarely a problem, but on a two-night business trip the window is tight enough that we book the appointment alongside the flight.

  • An ISO-standard microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination rather than after;
  • Rabies vaccination at least 21 days old on the day you land, given when the animal was at least 12 weeks;
  • An Animal Health Certificate dated no more than ten days before travel;
  • Tapeworm treatment for dogs on the homeward leg only;
  • Up to five animals per booking without commercial documentation.

Cats need the same list without the worming. The German handling agents are used to a dog walking through the terminal and the aprons are temperate at both ends of the year, which is a different proposition from a Mediterranean ramp in August. There is no weight limit and no hold, so a large dog travels exactly as a small one does.

Types of flights

Our company provides all types of business flights. Due to a wide variety of jets, we can arrange:

  1. private flights;
  2. corporate flights;
  3. business class flights;
  4. concert tours;
  5. medical flights (with doctors and special equipment on board);
  6. tourist flights for large and small groups;
  7. sports charters for teams and coaching staff;
  8. combined flights (partly by business jet, and partly by helicopter);
  9. exclusive flights on luxury jets for businessmen, celebrities, and politicians;
  10. cargo flights, etc.

A flexible approach and a wide experience allow us to solve problems of any complexity. In 90% of cases, we manage to arrange urgent flights (on the day of application). But to be sure, we recommend you send a request at least 2-5 days before the desired date of departure.

Empty Legs

Another way to fly cheaper is to use Empty Legs. This service allows you to save on regular charter rates. As you know, part of the flights is one-way (for example, when the passenger flies from England to Germany). After the flight, the jet returns to its home base (for example, to London Farnborough airport) empty. Such flight is called “Empty Legs”. Empty leg flights can be as cheap as 50-75% off the standard charter price. This option is profitable for both the passengers and the charter companies. The clients can enjoy the services of business aviation at a very good price, while the airlines recoup part of the cost of fuel and jet maintenance.

It is almost impossible to find Empty Leg flights, as the information about them is stored in special databases available only to the aviation brokers and specialized companies. You should know that Empty Leg flights offer the same service as private jet charters. The passengers enjoy a 100% private jet flying experience. Services and flight conditions are discussed individually. We should note that our company cooperates with the world’s largest home bases, so we can offer our clients a wide choice of return flights. Just send a request to our manager who will help you find the best flight options. Please note that Empty Leg flights are sold out very quickly. To avoid such a problem, you can leave us a deposit, and we will contact you as soon as the flight of your choice becomes available. For additional information, check with the operators.

Germany (Berlin) - UK (Edinburgh) Embraer Praetor 600 9 seats 6,600 EUR
UK (Glasgow) - Germany (Munich) Bombardier Challenger 350 9 seats 8,500 EUR

How to read those figures

– Each price is for the whole aircraft rather than per seat. A Challenger 350 into Munich at 8,500 EUR carrying nine works out under a thousand a head;

– Set each line beside the same class in the tables above. A Citation XLS+ into Berlin at 5,900 EUR against 14,600 for a fresh charter out of Manchester is the saving in plain terms;

– German legs come up on weekdays rather than weekends, because the traffic that creates them is corporate. A client who can move a meeting by a day sees far more of them than one who cannot.

Jet Sharing

Today, Jet Sharing is just as popular as private jet charter. This service involves the joint rental of a business jet with other passengers (that is, the cost of the flight is divided equally between all passengers of a specific flight). This type of flight has become especially popular in the last few years. Many people like Jet Sharing because it allows you to enjoy all benefits of business aviation at favorable prices.

We should note that the number of passengers per Jet Sharing flight varies from 3 to 8, while the cost of the flight ranges from 1200 to 6000 pounds (depending on the destination). This way, you can get a comfortable flight on a business jet (and maybe even meet new business partners) at a very good price. You can check out the schedule of Jet Sharing flights by filling in the online form or contacting our operators by phone or WhatsApp.

Main advantages of this service:

  • All privileges of business aviation, including the use of the business aviation terminal and the check-in 30 minutes before the flight, are retained;
  • You can also use the services of the VIP Lounge (included in the price of the flight);
  • No baggage restrictions;
  • Affordable price: jet sharing is much cheaper than private jet charter;
  • Pets can be carried directly in the aircraft cabin.

Our consultants will be happy to help you choose the best flight.

Helicopter charter

Germany uses the helicopter differently from the Mediterranean countries. There are no islands to reach and no mountain villages cut off by road, so alongside the private jet the work here is corporate: plant visits, sites away from an airport, and the transfer that saves an hour of autobahn:

Frankfurt to the Rhine valley and Wiesbaden
the corporate estates west of the city, where the road crosses the river and slows
about 15 minutes
Dusseldorf across the Ruhr
plant to plant between Dortmund, Essen and the works along the river
15 to 25 minutes
Berlin to the Brandenburg estates
conference and country house venues an hour or more out by road
20 to 30 minutes
Munich to the Bavarian lakes
Tegernsee and Starnberg, and on to the Austrian border
about 25 minutes
Hamburg to Sylt and the coast
the island traffic, which runs from spring through to the end of September
about 45 minutes

The machines that work these routes

– Airbus H125 and Bell 407, the light singles behind most corporate transfers and site visits;

– Airbus H135 and H145, the twins, which German corporate clients ask for more often than clients elsewhere and which several operators here fly as standard;

– Airbus H130 for a group of six where the leg is long enough that cabin noise starts to matter.

Two points on German rotary legs

– Landing sites away from an airfield need permission and German procedure is thorough rather than quick, so a works site or an estate wants arranging days ahead;

– The night restrictions apply to rotary as well, so an evening transfer back to the aircraft has to fit inside the same window the jet does.

What our clients say about flying to Germany

A few words from people who have made these trips with us. First names only, and the wording is theirs.

DAY RETURN

“From parking to take-off in minutes”

Biggin Hill to Dusseldorf · Citation Mustang · Richard T.

“An urgent business trip, and there was really no other way of doing it. The quote came back within minutes and the communication was perfect throughout. At the airport it took just a few minutes from the car park to take-off, and a car was already arranged on the other side. My contact stayed engaged from booking right through to wheels down.”

THE NIGHT BAN

“They told me it would not work, and why”

Farnborough to Frankfurt · Citation M2 · Deborah H.

“What I value most is the honesty. I was told straight out that Frankfurt shuts at eleven and my original timings would not work, rather than being sold the flight and left to find out later. No pushy sales tactics, just smart, honest advice tailored to what I actually needed. We moved the schedule and flew without any drama.”

EGELSBACH

“The broker who talked me out of it”

Stansted to Frankfurt · Citation CJ3+ · Stephen M.

“I had read about the small airport at Egelsbach and asked for it myself, and they said no, and explained why: since Brexit it cannot clear customs on an arrival from Britain, and the runway is tight for our aircraft in any case. First time I have had a broker talk me out of an option rather than agree with everything. We used Frankfurt Main, it all went smoothly, and the advice was right.”

TRADE FAIR

“Book early for the fair weeks”

Manchester to Berlin · Citation XLS+ · Angela P.

“We booked for a trade fair week and planned well ahead, which turned out to be the right call. The first quote came back within a day and the options were tailored precisely to the brief. If you are flying on fair dates, allow time: even eight weeks out we took more or less the last sensibly priced aircraft.”

WITH THE DOG

“We boarded with just the dog”

Luton to Hamburg · Citation CJ3+ · Marianne and Gus

“The agent meeting us took our bags on board early so that we could climb the steps with just the dog. On the aircraft he was treated like royalty. For the first time in all our trips with him we could genuinely relax, knowing he was safe and settled.”

EMPTY LEG

“A weekday leg, a last-minute price”

Munich to Biggin Hill · Learjet 75 Liberty · Colin B.

“A weekday empty leg came up, a proper last-minute price for an unplanned short trip. The flight was smooth, the pilots clearly experienced, and I felt comfortable on board the whole way.”

Frequently asked questions about flying to Germany

1How long does it take to fly to Germany by private jet?

About an hour and five minutes from London to Dusseldorf, an hour and twenty to Frankfurt, and an hour and forty-five to Berlin or Munich. From Manchester or Edinburgh add roughly half an hour. Every German sector from London fits inside two hours, which is why the schedule rather than the range decides the aircraft here.

2How much does a private jet to Germany cost?

From about 6,200 EUR one way from Biggin Hill to Dusseldorf on a very light jet, and 8,400 EUR to Frankfurt. Berlin from Stansted starts around 12,400 EUR and Munich from Glasgow around 20,400 EUR. Internal German legs are lower again: Frankfurt to Munich from 6,400 EUR.

3Which airports do private jets use in Germany?

Frankfurt Main and Munich take most of the traffic, with Dusseldorf, Berlin Brandenburg, Cologne Bonn, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Nuremberg, Hannover, Leipzig and Bremen behind them. Berlin Tegel closed in November 2020 and all Berlin traffic now uses Brandenburg. Nearly every German airport is slot coordinated.

4Can a private jet from Britain land at Frankfurt Egelsbach?

Not directly. Egelsbach is a dedicated general aviation field sixteen kilometres south of Frankfurt, but it cannot clear customs for arrivals from outside the European Union, and a flight from Britain now falls into that category. Its runway is also only 1,400 metres with no instrument landing system. From Britain the arrival is Frankfurt Main.

5Are there night flying restrictions in Germany?

Yes, and they are the strictest in Europe. Frankfurt permits no movements between eleven at night and five in the morning, general aviation included, and Munich restricts the margins either side. A delay that would mean a late landing elsewhere can mean a diversion here. Cologne Bonn operates around the clock, which is why late arrivals often route there.
