The Bombardier Global 6500 is the larger sibling of the Global 5500, announced together in May 2018 and first delivered in 2019. It is built on the BD-700-1A10 airframe, the same platform as the Global Express and Global 6000, with Rolls-Royce Pearl 15 engines replacing the earlier BR710, delivering 30% lower emissions and 7 to 13% better fuel efficiency for a 6,600 nm (12,223 km) range, 1,300 nm more than the Global 6000 and 700 nm more than the Global 5500. The Global 6500 won the Best New Jet Award 2020 from Aviation International News. The US Army selected it for its ISR programme and Australia acquired three dedicated defence aircraft, which provides some independent validation of the airframe's reliability at intensive operational tempos.

The cabin measures 13.18 m at 2.49 m wide and 1.88 m high, divided into a Club Suite, Conference Suite and Private Suite with an en-suite bathroom and a stand-up shower. A separate crew rest area and forward lavatory keep crew operations fully independent from passenger zones. Nuage seats with the Nuage Chaise and Nuage Cube provide the zero-gravity comfort position from the Global 7500 flagship. The Smooth Flĕx Wing reduces cabin vibration by up to 2.5 times versus competing jets according to Bombardier. Soleil circadian-based lighting, l'Opéra high-fidelity audio and 4K cabin entertainment are standard. Charter prices start from approximately £6,800 per flight hour. For the full fleet see our private jet price guide or browse our complete fleet.

Why charter the Bombardier Global 6500?

  • 6,600 nm range covers London to Hong Kong non-stop and New York to Dubai non-stop. At 6,600 nm (12,223 km) with four passengers, this is 1,300 nm more than the Global 6000 and 700 nm more than the Global 5500. London to Hong Kong (approximately 5,200 nm) is comfortably within range non-stop; New York to Dubai (approximately 6,330 nm) is at the limit with optimised payload and conditions. At 13 passengers the range is 6,000 nm, still covering transatlantic and Gulf routes non-stop;
  • Stand-up shower in the Private Suite. The Private Suite includes an en-suite bathroom with a stand-up shower, which puts the Global 6500 among the few long-range jets in its category to offer this in-flight. The suite is the quietest section of the cabin by design, with a wardrobe and in-flight-accessible baggage compartment. On 10 to 12-hour overnight sectors, the ability to arrive freshly showered is a practical advantage that most competing long-range twins do not offer;
  • Smooth Flĕx Wing and cabin vibration reduction. Bombardier cites 2.5 times less cabin vibration than competing long-range jets, attributed to the re-profiled trailing edge wing that acts as an in-air shock absorber, flexing to absorb atmospheric inputs before they reach the fuselage. On long overnight sectors where sustained mild turbulence accumulates into fatigue, this claim is worth noting, though individual experience will vary by routing and conditions;
  • Cabin dimensions: 13.18 m long, 2.49 m wide, three zones. The 13.18 m cabin is 0.76 m longer than the Global 5500's 12.42 m, and the 2.49 m width is the widest in the long-range twin category. The extra length accommodates three full zones with separation between them: the Club Suite, the Conference Suite for up to six, and the Private Suite with shower, without compromising full stand-up height throughout;
  • Nuage seating collection from the Global 7500. The Nuage seat (zero-gravity position), the Nuage Chaise (described by Bombardier as the first fully reclinable chaise in business aviation) and the Nuage Cube come directly from the Global 7500 flagship. The Nuage Chaise in the Conference Suite zone converts the space from a six-person meeting area into a lounging area for the overnight segment;
  • Maintenance intervals and operational validation. Bombardier puts maintenance intervals for the 6500 as the longest in its class. The Best New Jet Award 2020 from Aviation International News and the US Army ISR programme selection both provide external reference points for the aircraft's operational record, though charter clients will find availability and day-to-day reliability the more relevant indicators.

Charter cost - Bombardier Global 6500 prices from UK airports

Hourly rates run from approximately £6,800 to £8,200, in the long-range category above the Global 5500 and below the Global 7500. For 12 to 17 passengers on ultra-long-range missions, the combination of 6,600 nm range, shower in the Private Suite, 13.18 m three-zone cabin and Smooth Flĕx Wing places this aircraft in a different bracket from shorter-range competitors in the same price tier.

Indicative one-way prices from UK airports:

  • London to New York - from £62,000 (13 passengers, non-stop, approximately 7 hours 30 minutes);
  • London to Dubai - from £56,000 (13 passengers, non-stop, approximately 6 hours 30 minutes);
  • London to Geneva - from £17,000 (13 passengers, approximately 1 hour 15 minutes);
  • London to Hong Kong - from £92,000 (13 passengers, non-stop, approximately 11 hours 30 minutes);
  • London to Los Angeles - from £88,000 (13 passengers, non-stop, approximately 11 hours 30 minutes);
  • London to Mumbai - from £66,000 (13 passengers, non-stop, approximately 9 hours);
  • London to Nairobi - from £60,000 (13 passengers, non-stop, approximately 8 hours).

Ideal routes for the Bombardier Global 6500

The Global 6500 is best matched to ultra-long-range missions where the 6,600 nm range, 13.18 m cabin, Private Suite shower and vibration reduction serve groups of 12 to 17 on sectors that the Global 5500 cannot cover non-stop:

  • Ultra-long-range non-stop (10 to 12 hours). London to Hong Kong (approximately 5,200 nm), New York to Dubai (approximately 6,330 nm), London to Los Angeles (approximately 5,450 nm) and Toluca to Madrid are all within non-stop range. At 6,600 nm it covers sectors 700 nm beyond the Global 5500's reach, adding Hong Kong-range capability at 13-passenger loads. The shower in the Private Suite is specifically useful on these 10 to 12-hour overnight sectors where arrival condition matters;
  • Transatlantic and Gulf with groups of 13 to 17. London to New York and London to Dubai are well within range with significant margin at 13 passengers. For groups above 16 who need a single aircraft with the Bombardier cabin standard, the Global 6500's 17-passenger maximum covers group sizes that competing long-range twins cannot always accommodate. The three-zone cabin provides Club Suite work area, Conference Suite dining for six and Private Suite rest without those uses conflicting;
  • Overnight ultra-long-range sectors. On London to Hong Kong (11.5 hours), New York to Dubai (12 hours) and similar overnight ultra-long sectors, the in-flight shower allows passengers to arrive fresh rather than requiring a hotel room before the first meeting. This is one of the practical differences between the 6500 and most competing long-range twins, where a shower is not part of the standard specification;
  • North Atlantic and polar routing. The Smooth Flĕx Wing's vibration reduction is most relevant on westbound North Atlantic routing (frequent clear-air turbulence), polar routing to Asia and Gulf approach corridors where convective activity is common. On 12-hour sectors, the accumulated difference between smooth and turbulent cabin environments is real, though whether the 2.5× claim translates to a measurable difference on any specific flight depends on the conditions encountered;
  • Short-strip destination airports. The Global 6500 is certified for London City Airport, Aspen, Lugano and Toluca, combining ultra-long-range capability with access to constrained airports. For clients whose trip combines a long-haul sector with a constrained destination, this certification matters practically.

Cabin and in-flight experience

The cabin measures 13.18 m long, 2.49 m wide and 1.88 m high, flat floor throughout. Three passenger zones provide separation unavailable in undivided long-range cabins: Club Suite (four seats), Conference Suite (six-person meetings and dining), Private Suite (en-suite with stand-up shower and wardrobe). A separate forward galley, crew rest area and crew lavatory keep all crew operations independent from passenger zones.

The Nuage seating collection, comprising the Nuage seat with zero-gravity position, the Nuage Chaise and the Nuage Cube, provides the full range of seating and lounging options from the Global 7500 flagship. Soleil circadian-based lighting adjusts automatically across time zones to support sleep/wake cycles. l'Opéra high-fidelity audio and 4K entertainment with Ka-band high-speed internet complete the amenity suite. Baggage is 195 ft³, in-flight accessible. Rate of climb is approximately 4,000 ft/min at MTOW from sea level.

Bombardier Global 6500 vs similar aircraft

  • Bombardier Global 6500 vs Bombardier Global 5500. The Global 5500 has 700 nm shorter range (5,900 nm vs 6,600 nm) and a shorter cabin (12.42 m vs 13.18 m). The Global 6500 adds 700 nm, 0.76 m additional cabin length, the stand-up shower in the Private Suite, Nuage Chaise and Nuage Cube additions, and up to 17 versus 16 maximum passengers. Both share the Pearl 15 engines, Smooth Flĕx Wing, Nuage zero-gravity seats, Soleil lighting and l'Opéra audio. Charter rates for the Global 6500 run approximately 15 to 20% higher. For missions within 5,900 nm and groups of up to 14, the Global 5500 provides equivalent technology at lower rates. For groups above 14 or ultra-long sectors beyond 5,900 nm, the Global 6500 is the appropriate choice;
  • Bombardier Global 6500 vs Dassault Falcon 8X. The Falcon 8X uses trijet configuration (three engines, no ETOPS restrictions), covers 6,450 nm (vs 6,600 nm for the Global 6500) and has a 13 m cabin in a 2.34 m-wide interior. The Global 6500 has greater range (6,600 nm vs 6,450 nm), a wider cabin (2.49 m vs 2.34 m), the stand-up shower and the Smooth Flĕx Wing. Charter rates are broadly comparable. For clients prioritising cabin width, length and the shower, the Global 6500 is a reasonable preference. For those requiring trijet routing freedom beyond ETOPS range, the Falcon 8X is the appropriate alternative;
  • Bombardier Global 6500 vs Gulfstream G650. The G650 has greater range (7,000 nm vs 6,600 nm), the 100% fresh air Gulfstream cabin, the Symmetry fly-by-wire cockpit and Gulfstream's global service network. Charter rates are broadly comparable or slightly higher for the G650. The Global 6500 counters with comparable cabin length (13.18 m vs 13.46 m for G650), the Smooth Flĕx Wing vibration reduction, stand-up shower in the Private Suite, the full Nuage seating collection, Soleil circadian lighting, l'Opéra audio and London City/Lugano certification. The choice between the two comes down primarily to whether the Gulfstream's range and fresh-air system or the Bombardier's shower and wing technology better match the specific brief.
