Cessna jets in business aviation

In 1911, a 30-year-old farmer and aviation enthusiast from Rago, Oklahoma (USA) Clyde Vernon Cessna build the first aeroplane that he named “Silverwing”. His first design was a monoplane, constructed of spruce and linen. The engine was a modified motorboat motor with a maximum of 40 hp, while the old bicycle wheels, attached to the wooden bars, served as landing gear. In 1927, a self-taught designer founded his own aeronautical company called “Cessna Aircraft Company”.

In the second half of the last century, Cessna topped the world rankings of the largest business jet manufacturers. By 1963, “Cessna Aircraft” has sold over 50.000 light and cheap business jets.

In March 2014, “Cessna Aircraft” was acquired by “Textron Aviation”. The company continued the production of light propellers and jet planes under the brand “Cessna”.

As of October 2020, the company produced six basic models of turboprop aircrafts “Cessna”.

Stages of flight preparation

A business jet flight is carefully prepared. The whole organization of the flight consists of several stages:

1. Planning. At this stage, the request received from the customer is processed, the most suitable aircraft are selected, legal issues and flight safety issues are resolved;
2. A contract is concluded. The contract specifies the obligations of the parties, the route schedule, departure dates, and cost. The agreement is drawn up in two copies, the first remains with the air broker, the other is for the client. The payment is possible in any way that suits the customer;
3. Ensuring the flight. This is one of the most important stages of flight organization. The air broker coordinates the receipt of slots, submits requests to the aviation services for departure and landing, looks for suitable VIP terminals;
4. Flying in ideal conditions. After signing the contract, passengers of charter flights are only required to arrive at the airport on time, board, and spend time in the sky in a pleasant atmosphere.

If necessary, air brokers will arrange a transfer from the arrival airport, book a hotel or find the best accommodation in the private sector.

Cessna 172 Skyhawk

Just like Henry Ford put America behind the steering wheel of a car, “Cessna” gave middle-class Americans an opportunity to fly an affordable private jet. In 1975, the company presented its one-hundred-thousandth jet. “Cessna” serially produced many more jets than any other air manufacturer. The most popular model of the brand, “Cessna 172 Skyhawk”, manufactured in 1955, is still in production. This four-seat lightweight monoplane is considered the most popular single-engine aircraft ever built. Modern models are equipped with 140 ph four-cylinder aviation motor Lycoming IO-360-L2A with a two-blade propeller (a more powerful engine can be supplied upon request). The Cessna T-41 Mescalero is a military version of the popular Cessna 172, powered by a 210 ph Continental IO-360 engine. The United States Border Patrol uses a fleet of 142 such jets for aerial surveillance along the Mexico-US border. These jets are used by the Royal Air Force of Ireland, Philippines, Pakistan, Singapore and several Latin American states.

Cessna 172 is very easy to operate. In October 2013, a fatal accident occurred in Britain. The pilot of a Cessna aircraft lost consciousness during the flight – he had a heart attack. The passenger reported this incident to the dispatcher while holding the steering wheel. A Royal Air Force helicopter took off to escort the plane. An inexperienced passenger managed to successfully land the jet at Humberside Airport guided by the instructions from flight instructors.

Another curious incident occurred in Moscow. In May 1987, Matthias Rust, an 18-year-old German pacifist, rented a Cessna 172P at AeroClub Hamburg, and… landed near the Kremlin. This incredible incident led to the resignation of many high-ranking militaries, including the Minister of Defense of the Soviet Union.

The jet is operated by two pilots, but the cockpit has room for one more crew member. The cabin can accommodate 8-12 passengers. The jet is equipped with excellent Garmin G5000 avionics.

The company “Textron Aviation” which owns the brand “Cessna”, recently postponed the serial production of their latest corporate jet Cessna Citation Hemisphere, scheduled for 2020. The jet can carry 12 passengers to a distance of up to 8.300 km. The design speed of a business jet is 956 km/h. The reason for postponing the production were the doubts about the readiness of the turbojet Snecma Silvercrest, ordered from France. The unprecedented number of pre-orders for the new Cessna Jet is the evidence of safety and reliability of this model. In October 2015, “NetJets” (the world’s largest private jet company with a fleet of over 600 business jets), announced the purchase of 325 Cessna Citation jets worth approximately $10 billion, including 175 Citation Longitude jets (worth $26 million each) and up to 150 Citation Hemispheres (worth $35 million each). Some of them will replenish the fleet of the subsidiary “NetJets Europe”, serving the clients from the EU.

How to pay for a flight and refund money for a failed flight

Payment for the aircraft lease is carried out after the signing of the contract. You can deposit cash or make a wire transfer. In some situations, an invoice is more convenient, but in any case, our company allows the client to choose the payment method that is more profitable for him/her.

If the scheduled flight is canceled at the client’s request, the funds won’t be returned in full. This is quite understandable since certain costs for the organization of the flight were already on the part of the air broker. However, our company tries to make sure that the client loses as little as possible. In those situations, when the lease is canceled due to our fault, which fortunately happens extremely rarely, the funds are returned in full.
